For those of us who have boarded an aircraft before can give us a better explanation of how it feels to be on board when a plane takes off. Before moving on to the major components that make-up an airplane and how they react with each other, i will be taking us through the forces acting on an airplane while it is in the air. There are four major forces acting on an airplane while it is in the air namely.</p>\n<center>\nhttps://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/Images/forces.jpg\n<br/><sub><a href=\"https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/Images/forces.jpg\">Image source</a></sub></center>\n<b>(1) Thrust: </b>This propels the plane in the direction of motion.<br/>\n<b>(2) Weight: </b>This acts downward from the center of gravity.<br/>\n<b>(3) Lift: </b>This acts perpendicular to the airplane and pointing upwards. This acts in opposite direction to the gravity acting on the airplane.<br/>\n<b>(4) Drag: </b>This is the resistance force pulling the plane backwards and acting opposite in direction to the motion of the plane.<br/>\n<p>Here is a brief explanation of the parts that make-up an airplane and how they interact with each other to produce the desired outcome which in our own case is flight.</p>\n<h2><b>Major components that make-up an airplane.</b></h2>\n<center>https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/Images/airplane.gif\n<sub><br/><a href=\"https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/Images/airplane.gif\">Image source</a></sub></center>\n<b>(1) The Fuselage: </b>This is the main body of the airplane that holds the cockpit, the passengers, the cargo, and the engine of the airplane. It also serves in positioning the control and stabilization surfaces in relation to the lifting surfaces which is required for the stability and maneuverability of the aircraft.<br/>\n<b>(2) The Empennage: </b>This is the part of an aircraft also known as the tail or the tail assembly of the aircraft. It is also similar to the tail of an arrow. The work of the empennage is to provide stability of the airplane during flight.<br/>\n<b>(3) The Landing Gears: </b>It is the undercarriage of an airplane and can be used for either takeoff or landing. They may come in diverse forms e.g. static or retractable gear system.<br/>\n<b>(4) The wings:</b> The wings is the part of an airplane that generates lift for the airplane as it thrusts forward and gathers momentum. In modern airliners, the wing also serve as a housing system to the engines of the airplane.<br/>\n<b>(5) The Powerplants:</b> This is the heart of the airplane as no aircraft can takeoff without this integral component. Smaller aircrafts such as electric rotor aircrafts and drones make use of electrical turbine engines which makes use of electricity. While bigger aircrafts such as fighter jets and commercial airliners make use of jet engines. The powerplants of a commercial airliner generates thrust for the airplane which is then converted to lift by the wings of the airplane. An additional power unit known as the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is usually installed at the rear of commercial airliners. It's sole purpose is to provide compressed air to the jet engines of the airplane so as to cause them to accelerate at high rotating speeds. The APU supplies power to the other powerplants.<br/>\n<b>(6) The Control Surfaces:</b> The control of surfaces an airplane consists of flaps on the wings, ailerons, elevators and rudder. These helps the pilot to tilt the plane about certain axis so as to alter the direction of the plane to a desired direction.<br/>\n<b>(7) The Avionics Control Systems:</b> The avionics control system includes all the flight control input systems on the flight deck which encompasses all electronic instrumentation systems covering autopilot, navigation systems, collision-avoidance systems, communication systems, flight recorders,etc.<br/>\n\n<h2><b>How they interact with each other</b></h2>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;They mode of operation for an airplane is not as difficult or complicated as you think. The avionics control system of the airplane is used to switch on the APU which in turn powers on the other two jet engines into accelerating rotational speed so as to produce thrust which pushes the airplane forward and causes it to gather momentum to takeoff. An airplane is just one out of the categories (air and space vehicles, submarines) of vehicles that operates in three dimensions. When we say about 3-dimensions, we talk about 3-dimensional cartesian plane if we pen it down to paper. The work of the control surfaces  is to rotates the airplane about these axises at he right angle to put the plane in the right direction. The aileron rotates the plane about the roll-axis, the rudder rotates the plane about the yaw-axis, while the elevator rotates the plane about the pitch-axis. Elevating too high about the pitch axis could cause the airplane to toll as the angle of attack will be too great for the airplane to handle. So every aspect of the airplane controls system as to be engineered to work just right. The flaps on the other hand  is used for reducing the speed of the airplane by increasing the resistance force (drag) on the wings of the airplane in the case of landing the airplane. But this norm is has been breached of recent as we begin to see most of these technologies breaking through the veil between sci-fi and reality thereby making their way into the real world (our world). This may sound funny but here is a list of top sci-fi gadgets and technologies that have are gradually making their way into our world, and the ones we should be expecting in the nearest future<strong>.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>(1) Invisibility cloak</strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://topbanger.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/invisibility-cloak_featured.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"500\"/><br>\n[image source](<a href=\"https://topbanger.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/invisibility-cloak_featured.jpg\">www.bbc.com</a>)</p>\n<p>You probably have seen that piece of textile in Harry Potter<strong> </strong>that makes him totally invisible when he puts it on. Some group of researchers from the University of California and the US Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have discovered a way to bend light with the aid of a piece of material (cloak) which they developed. This cloak contains molecules maid up of meta-materials which is about 80 nanometers wide at the microscopic level, and can be scaled up to large levels bending light around large objects hereby totally concealing them which in turn results to them appearing invisible to the observer. These weapons in the scientific research world are known as Directed Energy Weapons (DEW) which has the capacity to inflict heavy damage on a target with the aid of emission of highly focused energy including laser, microwaves and particle beams. Physicists in the year 2010 have discovered a means by which quantum particles can transition through objects by finding a means to do so. This ability for subatomic particles to pass through solid objects is known as quantum tunneling. Phasing on the other hand can be said to be achieved in the quantum state whereby the phasing particle has the same phase angle as the particle to be penetrated.i.e. they both vibrate at the same frequency. The was the bad guy that could not do without the cyborg suit so as to stay alive. Freeze and the likes of Captain Cold( from the Flash, the one in the picture above) makes use of ice guns which we only in science-fictions. Sorry to bust your bubbles but freeze rays/guns exists outside sci-fi movies as a group of German scientists in Berlin are experimenting on acting lasers on high pressure gas so as to knock out the electrons from the orbital of the atoms of the gas. The way it works is that the photons are used to knock out electrons from their orbit ( of which you may know earlier on like in the case of Compton's Effect). The result of this process is that it drops down the temperature of the gas by 119 degrees thereby causing the object to freeze rapidly. These trends are rapidly making their way into our society as big names such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook are making their debuts in this area. We will have in one way or the other witnessed people who talk to their iPhone, Android phone or their Microsoft lumia with the aid of AI Siri for iPhone, Google Now for Android and Cortana for Microsoft Lumia phones. These are what i will call AI in some of it's most basic forms. We will have also heard of Google self-driven cars and auto pilots for commercial airliners. And this they say can be achieved with the aid of black holes that exhibits heavy gravitational forces which can slow down time and cause objects passing through it to be faster than the speed of light, thereby making it possible to travel back in time. This will lead to a whole lot of breakthroughs in science. With the aid of smart apps like Find My Device app on android and Find My IPhone, disabling your smartphone from another smartphone so as to prevent your private information from getting into the wrong hands has being made easy.
