      "body": "Hello again! If you're like me, and you've been following the developments for TVS' new bike. You'll know it was making news for all the right reasons. TVS teaming up with BMW to make a sub 400cc bike, for the Indian market! After Spyshots and Cover stories the bike was finally unveiled. The fit and finish were the best ever for a TVS. Once the test rides started, I couldn't wait to go ride the bike! Here's what transpired on the day of the test ride.\n\nDISCLAIMER: All the Opinions written are purely my own, I got the bike for 30 minutes and a maximum of 4 km of riding inside the city. Needless to say, I am no expert and everything written here should be taken with a grain of salt.\n\n\nTHE GOOD\n\n1. The fat tail section with the 35 decal (the 35 decal is commemorating TVS' 35 years in racing) or the big side panel with the fins for air flow. The gold Kayaba forks, TVS racing decal on the engine case and the shine of the exhaust pipe tucked between wheel & the sub-frame. The All Digital Dash, giving you all the info you'd need at a quick glance (not a fan of the vertical layout).  All of these combined, give the bike a premium and big bike feel.  \n\n\n\n2. But, I can tell you how the bike stops and feels. The front brake is the best part of the bike, it feels good and ABS intervention is minimal. It stops quick but there is noticeable front fork dive which can be unnerving. The rear brake felt spongy at the start but as I rode it back to back it got better but ABS intervention was noticeable on the rear brake. Handling of the bike, in the city, is really good. It filters and flicks through traffic with ease, taking U-turns will not be an issue. \n\n\n3. HEAT MANAGEMENT\n\nThe bike, even after a lot of people thrashed it in the city, did not get hot enough for it to be annoying while riding in traffic. The fan kicks in and stays on even after you've turned off the bike, the heat is directed away from the rider's legs.\n\n\n\nTHE BAD\n\n1.  VIBRATIONS\n\nSince this engine was jointly developed with BMW, I was expecting it to be refined. But the vibes do persist, they start the moment you turn on the bike and get noticeable at 5k rpm. The bars, fuel tank, and the pegs vibrate and it is very noticeable. If you're a tourer, these vibrations will not be your friend for the road.\n\n\n2. FUEL TANK \n\nThe fuel tank is 11 liters, and if you're touring, you will find it lacking. Constant fuel stops will be a ritual when you own this bike. The fuel tank also hits your forearms when taking a U-turn and it got annoying.\n\n\n3. POWER\n\nIf you're someone upgrading from a 150cc bike, you will find the power adequate. But as time progresses you will find it boring and yearning for more power.\n\n\n4. PRICE\n\nAt 2.7 lakhs on road in Bangalore, its asking a lot for what iit'soffering. Here are the alternatives to the bike and their prices (on-road)\n\na) KTM Duke 390 2017 (2.96 lakhs) \n\na. TFT screen, Bluetooth connect, KTM road-side assistance, Better tyres, More power, Ride by wire throttle, Bigger metal fuel tank, slightly better pillion comfort. All for 30k more.\n\n\nb) Bajaj Dominar 400 (1.96 lakhs) \n\na. While talking to one of my friends, he told me about a gov initiative called \"Eco-trails\".\n\nECO TRAILS\n\nEco-Trails is a part of a wider plan taken up by the Karnataka Forest Department which includes Wildlife safari, Bird Sanctuary visits and Jungle stay resorts and hotels. Eco trails an initiative where in certain popular trekking trails (which i will mention later) there will be local guides who will guide you through the trek and also will explain to you about the different flora and fauna and most importantly Waste Management which is what pissed me off while going through most of the places.\n\nPROCESS\n\nYou'd have to login to the website (https://myecotrip.com/) > Goto Eco trails (https://myecotrip.com/landscapes) and pay an amount which will be Rs 450 ( will be higher or lower depending on the trail). This amount will get you permission to trek the trail, a guide who are also trained in rescue operations.\n\nPLACES WHICH WILL COME UNDER ECO TRAILS\n\nCurrently it has 7 trails with new trails being added.\n\n1. Skandagiri\n2. Avalabetta\n3. Savanadurga\n4. Bidarakatte \n5. Makalidurga\n6. Siddarabetta\n7. Devarayanadurga\n\n\nMY THOUGHTS\n\nAlthough cleaning up Trails and maintaining it is important, Rs 450 is simply too much money for a small trek like Savandurga as it is a small trail and the chances of getting lost are slim. The Forest Department are also providing something called a Green Passport where one can trek a trail and get a stamp from the forest department once it has been completed and will get \"Loyalty Points\" for further treks. Eco trails an initiative where in certain popular trekking trails (which i will mention later) there will be local guides who will guide you through the trek and also will explain to you about the different flora and fauna and most importantly Waste Management which is what pissed me off while going through most of the places.\n\nPROCESS\n\nYou'd have to login to the website (https://myecotrip.com/) > Goto Eco trails (https://myecotrip.com/landscapes) and pay an amount which will be Rs 450 ( will be higher or lower depending on the trail). This amount will get you permission to trek the trail, a guide who are also trained in rescue operations.\n\nPLACES WHICH WILL COME UNDER ECO TRAILS\n\nCurrently it has 7 trails with new trails being added.\n\n1. Skandagiri\n2. Avalabetta\n3. Savanadurga\n4. Bidarakatte \n5. Makalidurga\n6. Siddarabetta\n7. Devarayanadurga\n\n\nMY THOUGHTS\n\nAlthough cleaning up Trails and maintaining it is important, Rs 450 is simply too much money for a small trek like Savandurga as it is a small trail and the chances of getting lost are slim. The Forest Department are also providing something called a Green Passport where one can trek a trail and get a stamp from the forest department once it has been completed and will get \"Loyalty Points\" for further treks.       "body": "Hello fellow Steemers! Kumaraparvata was a trek i was yearning to do after completing most of the small one day treks near Bangalore and this was my first trek that lasted two days and i was pretty excited to see how i'd hold up with trekking through all that varying terrain. All in all this was one of the best treks i have done.\n\nA) Summary of the Trek\n\n1. Difficulty: Difficult ( For beginners) \n\n2. Trail type: Mix of grasslands, rocks and forests. Steep in some places\n\n3. Duration: 2 days \n\n4. Base Camp: Bhattru mane (5kms from Base of the mountain, you can camp at the top of the mountain as there was incident with forest fires and the forest department has banned any camping activities)\n\n5. Best season: October to February \n\n6. Water sources: Springs will full of water post-rain season as you approach December, the streams will dry up.\n\n\nB) Our plan:\n\n1. Get a KSRTC bus at 9:00pm  (normal seats) till Kukke Subramanya.\n\n2. Breakfast at Neo-mysore restaurant and start trekking my 6:45am to avoid mid day sun.\n\n3. Reach Bhattru Mane at 10:30am and have breakfast, set off from Bhattru mane at 11:45am\n\n4. Reach Sheshaparvata at 2:45pm \n\n5. Reach the forest near the Main peak and have food and water.\n\n6. Reach Kumaraparvata peak at 4:30pm and rest\n\n7. Start descent by 5:30pm and try to reach Bhattrumane by 8:30pm\n\n8. Pitch tent near one of the viewpoints for the night and wake up next day and start descent from Bhattru mane to starting point.\n\nSounds like a good plan? Kind of. \n\nC) Here are some tips to help you better enjoy your trip:\n\n\n1. BEST MONTHS TO TREK: The best months to trek KP are  from the end of October to the beginning of Feb. The summer months will be too hot to trek but if you can make it to the peak you will have the best view of the Night sky. Monsoon is just a pain not only do you have to deal with leeches and rain, the forest dept wont allow anyone to trek to the top because of high winds and rainfall.\n\n2. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR TENTS(RENTED): We had rented tents from a place and while receiving the tents, we didn't check the supporting poles. We had supporting poles for a 3 man tent but we had rented a 2 man tent so that was problematic later on.\n\n3. FOOD & WATER: There are many restaurants at the bottom where you can have your breakfast but once on top of the mountain you can either carry Bread and Biscuits or eat at bhattrumane (A plate costs 100rs , recommended) and as for water there's a tap near bhattrumane where you can fill up your bottles, be sure to carry atleast 2 litres once you set off from there.\n\n4. WARM CLOTHING: If you're planning to trek during the winter months get better insulation for your body and while camping don't leave any of your stuff outside because of the Mist it'll get wet. \n\n5. FOREST DEPARTMENT: There's a Forest Department Check post near bhattrumane you'll have to go there and write your name and pay them 200rs per person in case you get lost and they have to come find you.
