Desde hace tiempo se han estado reportando testimonios de personas que escuchan el misterioso fenómeno conocido como the hum (el zumbido). Se trata de un sonido estable, zumbante, que se escucha en lugares tan disparatados como Taos, Nuevo México, Bristol, Inglaterra y Largs, Escocia. A pesar de numerosas investigaciones científicas para encontrar la fuente de este sonido y para averiguar por qué afecta sólo a un porcentaje de la población, el Hum sigue siendo un misterio.\n\nEste misterio se caracteriza por ser un murmullo estrepitoso de muy baja frecuencia que puede invadir la mente de quien lo escucha al punto de que se han reportado un par de suicidios por su causa. La mayoría de las víctimas reportan que el sonido es más perturbador por las noches y en el interior de sus casas. Por desgracia, la fuente de este fenómeno es virtualmente imposible de rastrear. Pero en 2012, el Dr. Glen MacPherson --víctima del zumbido-- lanzó una base de datos llamada The World Hum Map and Database para coleccionar testimonios de otras víctimas del zumbido y trazar su impacto global... MacPherson rápidamente descubrió que lo que para él era un extraño murmullo estruendoso estaba teniendo efectos perniciosos en cientos de personas, desde dolores de cabeza hasta irritabilidad y privación de sueño.
