| body | Custom-designed and printed Google Cardboard is a great addition to your marketing armoury. It is flexible, inexpensive and, above all, popular. There can’t be many give-aways that would be as gratefully received as this. In fact, the very act of your company utilizing Google Cardboard in this way is image-enhancing. It shows that you have a ‘finger on the pulse’ and have a bit more going on between your ears than the average proponent of calendars or the ballpoint pen. You are giving away something of genuine value. This builds value- and the value of the relationship you hope to build. The Benefits of Custom Google Cardboard You can choose to print on either brown or white cardboard. The unit can be branded to your company with logo and company colours Whatever the season or celebration, Google Cardboard can be printed to reflect its values or message It appeals to all age-groups and there are existing templates to suit. It is strong and fully bio-degradable. Along with the company branding on the unit, you can include a VR app pertinent to your company’s offering. Box design is flexible as is the inclusion of straps and face padding. It comes fully assembled or flat-pack, so is great for posting. The choice of colour and design is yours. Virtual Reality is one of the great growth sectors in modern tech. Although its popularity is proven, it is still early days and largely be employed by first-movers. By introducing potential clients to the joys of VR you are staking a claim to their goodwill and to their ongoing loyalty. Having provided the hardware, a route is now open to continue and develop the relationship by supplying an ongoing supply of free apps at little cost- which also gives a great reason for them to give you their contact details. Custom Google Cardboard is not just a give-away, it’s a beginning. Originally Published at MaxboxVR: https://bit.ly/2lNTnSM |

| title | Hype Oracle Virtual Reality Headset |
| body | With every major brand putting out their own Virtual Reality headset to the public, it was only a matter of time before other manufacturers started following suit. Google has released their Daydream, Samsung boasted their Gear VR and Oculus Rift, while HTC got the Vibe, and many more. That's why we're wondering, how good can a $16 virtual reality headset can be? Hype Oracle Virtual Reality Headset Review For a cheap price, Hype Oracle offers us a headset that features an affordable yet effective design, controls, and universal smartphone support. Considering its price, this headset offers quite an amount of features when compared to other more premium headsets. Moreover, it features an elastic headstrap and surprisingly comfortable memory foam padding around the viewer. Cool eh? On top of the viewer, there you'll find the two adjustment options. One is for the focal point adjustment while the other is to adjust the lens distance inside the viewer. On the front of the device, there's a sliding door that will allow camera-enabled virtual reality apps to work as well. On the side of the Oracle VR headset, you'll see a plastic device cartridge that holds the compatible smartphone with openings on both sides to allow earphone use. Compatibility wise, this Oracle VR headset seems to work with both iOS and Android holding devices up to 3.9" wide and 6" high. To put it plainly, the Oracle VR headset is actually quite ingenious. It is not perfect but it takes this very basic, inexpensive concept and turns it into a viable VR solution that actually works surprisingly well. However, the device cartridge could be improved in order to provide a better protection to our precious smartphones (to avoid scratches), and the lack of buttons to control some VR apps makes it almost unusable (for these apps). Final Remarks While there are better and more expensive VR headsets out there in the market today, the Oracle VR headset from Hype is a great way to dive into the first wave of virtual reality apps and games! And for $16, what more could we ask for? Originally Published at MaxboxVR: https://bit.ly/2Nf4IaX |

"body": "\n\nWith every major brand putting out their own Virtual Reality headset to the public, it was only a matter of time before other manufacturers started following suit. Google has released their Daydream, Samsung boasted their Gear VR and Oculus Rift, while HTC got the Vibe, and many more. That's why we're wondering, how good can a $16 virtual reality headset can be?\n\nHype Oracle Virtual Reality Headset Review\n\nFor a cheap price, Hype Oracle offers us a headset that features an affordable yet effective design, controls, and universal smartphone support. Considering its price, this headset offers quite an amount of features when compared to other more premium headsets. Moreover, it features an elastic headstrap and surprisingly comfortable memory foam padding around the viewer. Cool eh?\n\nOn top of the viewer, there you'll find the two adjustment options. One is for the focal point adjustment while the other is to adjust the lens distance inside the viewer. On the front of the device, there's a sliding door that will allow camera-enabled virtual reality apps to work as well.\n\nOn the side of the Oracle VR headset, you'll see a plastic device cartridge that holds the compatible smartphone with openings on both sides to allow earphone use.\n\nCompatibility wise, this Oracle VR headset seems to work with both iOS and Android holding devices up to 3.9\" wide and 6\" high.\n\nTo put it plainly, the Oracle VR headset is actually quite ingenious. It is not perfect but it takes this very basic, inexpensive concept and turns it into a viable VR solution that actually works surprisingly well.\nHowever, the device cartridge could be improved in order to provide a better protection to our precious smartphones (to avoid scratches), and the lack of buttons to control some VR apps makes it almost unusable (for these apps).\n\nFinal Remarks\n\nWhile there are better and more expensive VR headsets out there in the market today, the Oracle VR headset from Hype is a great way to dive into the first wave of virtual reality apps and games! And for $16, what more could we ask for?\n\nOriginally Published at MaxboxVR: https://bit.ly/2Nf4IaX",

| title | Why The Military Loves Virtual Reality |
| body | If there is one way to guarantee that loads of money gets spent on the development of a new technology- it is to ensure that it has some potential military capability. You can bet, if it can have a use within the nation’s defenses or on the battle-field, the army, the navy and the air force will find room in their stretched budgets to shoehorn it in. And so it is with VR, though some of its uses may surprise you. Equipment Simulations As in any vehicle, the windows are the weakest link in an armoured vehicle- but, unfortunately, they are also quite useful for visibility too. In the past, the only way of eliminating that window-risk was via TV screens which were attached to cameras on the outside of the vehicle itself. 360 degree VR vision greatly improves on that and greatly improves of the efficacy of that vehicle in whatever situation it finds itself, along with the safety of its occupants. Combat Simulations Training or prepping for a combat situation can, of itself, be a dangerous proposition. The more realistic the situation, the more likely that someone could get hurt. In the Virtual Reality world, situations can be simulated to a far greater extent than they could be in the ‘real’ world with no risk to life or limb. Equally, those situations can easily be manipulated to train for slight changes in wind power or direction or an unexpected enemy incursion, for example. Until recently, combat simulations had been limited to ‘enhanced’ equipment simulation, but with the advent of the Dismounted Soldier Training System (DSTS), no one is getting away. In Training Virtual Reality is a great way of getting new recruits acclimatized, whether to a new environment or a completely different way of thinking and working. In the same way as during combat situations, different scenarios can be ‘modeled’, testing the recruits speed of thought, reaction and his ability to ‘think on his feet’. This can be tightly monitored because a trainer or superior office can see exactly what the trainee is looking, when and how he reacts. He is then able to intervene with guidance or instructions immediately, rather than during a run-through later. Of course, new recruits nowadays have been brought-up with a digital mindset, so it makes perfect sense to utilise that. For PTSD Since the dawn of warfare, the mental toll a combat situation takes on participants has been, largely, ignored. If a wound isn’t visible, then it isn’t there. It is only quite recently that PTSD has been recognized as a genuine condition and efforts made to repair damage caused. VR allows the viewer to become completely immersed in an environment. This allows for situations to be recreated offering a gradual re-acclimatisation for sufferers. More accurate and less mentally invasive than hypnotism, VR enables a step-by-step approach with the practitioner in minute control of exactly what the sufferer is seeing and reacting to. Cost v Cost It always seems a bit tacky to be talking about money when lives are at stake. But, the reality is, everything has a cost- and if it costs too much, then the money won’t get spent. The new Stryker simulator, for example, comes in at over half a million quid, but compared to the cost of the real thing, it’s a bargain. Anything that improves the efficiency of the guys handling all that expensive equipment ceases to be a cost and becomes a genuine investment that will make a return and save money. So, for Virtual Reality, the military is a perfect fit. It makes servicemen more effective, improves efficiency and saves a lot of cost- both in financial terms and human terms. | body | Developer Zatun has brought marksmanship into VR with the release of Sniper Rust VR! If you are you a cold-hearted VR head, and you want to improve your aim and your hand-eye coordination, then this is the game for you. Sniper Rust VR is a globe-trotting VR game where you take the role of a sniper who need to put down an armed militia uprising that is taking place in various countries. Cool eh? Sniper Rust VR Features Cutting-edge Weaponry : Stalk your prey with a plethora of lethal firearms, pre-unlocked and crafted with attention to detail for an immersive VR experience. Death-dealing enemy troops and vehicular combatants : Diverse enemy classes make every playable mission a challenge; be wary of well-concealed snipers, air/group assaults and traps behind enemy lines. Photo-realistic environments : Although with multiple, varied objectives to complete on your adventure, there’ll hardly be time to take in the sights. Orchestral auditory feedback : A John Leonard French soundtrack to please even the world’s best sharpshooter. Sniper Rust VR Quick Review Actually I am quite surprised as to really what's going on while I am playing the game. There's no information or whatsoever, and there's a number of logical holes that occur to you as you play, suh as questioning how exactly a militia group are operating in various countries with the kind of material support they apparently have. The gameplay is pretty-straight forward - it is objective based. At the start of each level, you'll be given a series of tasks to complete, mostly people that you will need to kill or targets that you will need to blow up. The controls are quite decent, and fairly easy to pick up. However, it feels a little awkward to be wielding a sniper rifle with two Touch controllers. The graphics are pretty good, but not photo realistic - which they claimed in their Steam page. The assets that they used don’t seem to always integrate or match very well. Moreover, the environments look generic and not that impressive. There's nothing special in the audio department, with repetitive enemy cries and gunfire sound. The Sniper Rust VR is available on Steam for the Oculus Rift ($9.99). There is a demo available now on Steam that's free download, which includes one complete level ad access to the shooting range practice mode. Dive deep into mysterious waters and experience the VR thrill in this high speed virtual reality coaster. All 3 VR rides are family friends without any violence or fear sounds so that kids could enjoy them too. Jumping on the virtual reality app bandwagon, Romale game studio has debuted a brand new VR rollercoaster app called VR Water Park Ride Pack, this time utilizing VR to transport Google Cardboard users to an intense undersea adventure. Over the course of the underwater imaginative and thrilling experiences, you'll explore tropics, sea birds, dive into Asian pond full of Goldfishes and KOI fishes, dive even deeper in the ocean and enjoy deep world of underwater vegetation filled with fishes, dolphins and whales. It's sort of a custom digital overlay and using technology to tell a new story - an entirely new virtual reality coaster. Users would be able to travel through the depths of the ocean seamlessly. It's indeed a completely unique expedition on a well-loved roller coaster. VR Goldfish and KOI Aquarium: Try a train ride underwater and explore KOI fishes and Goldfishes in a beautiful pond filled with water plants. VR Deep Ocean Roller Coaster: Take a ride though coral reefs and dive deep into the ocean. Enjoy the vegetation and fishes around you. VR Tropical Paradise Island: VR Tropical Paradise Island is a roller coaster ride on a sunny deserted tropical island filled with beautiful birds flying around, a secret temple, palms, long sandy beaches and old sailing ships. Note #1: This app requires a VR headset like Google Cardboard for best results. Note #2: This virtual reality game was made for high-end phones with gyroscopes. It may work on slower phones, but you will experience lower refresh rate. Download VR Water Park Ride Pack Now Originally Published at Maxbox VR: https://bit.ly/2KpvfRc |

| title | Google Cardboard vs Samsung GearVR vs Samsung Odyssey Virtual Reality Headsets |
| body | When Google first launched its Cardboard VR headset it was very much ‘dipping its toe in the water’. They didn’t invest loads of money in it, almost to the point of not taking the whole thing very seriously. They weren’t really that interested in it. It was little more than a side-project; the kind of thing that major tech companies do all the time to ‘fly a kite’ and do a very basic market test. Well, that is not exactly how it played-out. The ripples created by that little toe in the water have energized an entire industry. Google Cardboard has become THE go-to gateway virtual reality headset for anyone looking to check-out the reality behind the hype around virtual reality. Google Cardboard- Simple by Design It’s not that no thought went into Google Cardboard. It was always intended to be a low-cost, straightforward, unintimidating piece of kit. Basically, it pulled-off a pretty rare double; successfully marrying its intended market placement with the resulting reality. It is really easy and really cheap for anyone with a Smartphone or iPhone to try-out VR- and that’s thanks to Google Cardboard. Whatever phone you’ve got in your pocket, the chances are it will work with Google Cardboard- and you can get any number of compatible apps from the Google Playstore. Further, in keeping with Google’s ethos of taking technology out to the masses, Google Cardboard’s design is open-source; so you could, literally make one on your kitchen table- they’ll even tell you how! Now, when you look at the Samsungs, the most obvious and most immediate difference is that there are many phones out there in the marketplace that neither the Gear nor the Odyssey will actually work with. As in, if you’re not using a Samsung phone, then you can forget about using their Gear or Odyssey headsets. Samsung GearVR That said, if you are using a Samsung phone, then the gear is getting right up there in terms of accessibility. Working with Oculus, Samsung packed the GearVR with great functionality. Zoom and volume functions are controlled via the headset, so there’s no fumbling around with the phone docked inside or some random remote control and it has a dedicated app via Oculus, which you can get in the app store. Of course, the more dedicated the kit is, then the less flexible it is. Also, there is the price, which comes in at over 5x that of Google Cardboard- and that’s without allowing for the preponderance of Cardboard freebies floating around. Samsung Odyssey Well, there is no denying the Odyssey’s place in the pantheon of ‘Virtual Reality Headset Greats’. Right at the top-end of the price scale, there are plenty of upgrades to justify handing the cash over. Probably the most significant improvement, which really does set it apart, is in terms of image quality. In the first place, they have increased the resolution markedly. When you’re talking about a 5 inch screen, adding another line of pixels is not anything to write home about, but when it’s right across your entire viewing field, the improvement is tangible. Along with that, they are using an OLED rather than an LCD screen. This increases colour definition and makes for smoother ‘motion’. Cost So, basically, not unusually, it all pretty much comes down to cost- and what brand of phone you’re using. If you haven’t got a Samsung, the Gear and the Odyssey are complete right-offs- unless you want to go out and buy a Samsung phone, so you can access their VR headsets, of course. For flexibility, it’s got to be Google Cardboard- it works with virtually anything. The better the phone, the better the output, but whatever you’re using you can give it a go. In terms of cost, the Google Cardboard is virtually cost-free. Even its list price is just 20% of what the Gear would cost- and less than a tenth of what the Odyssey will set you back. There is added functionality with the Gear and significant improvements in output with the Odyssey; it’s just a matter of how much that is worth to you. If you’re a business, of course, Google Cardboard is the only game in town for branding and promotional purposes; cheap and cheerful suddenly becomes cost-effective and eye-catching. But, if it’s all about cost v performance, then just do what everyone else is doing; check out virtual reality on Google Cardboard and then upgrade if you think it’s worth it. | title | What is Google Poly |
| body | Building your own virtual reality app is not the easiest thing in the world to do. One particular difference, when working in3D rather than 2D, is filling-in all the space. In 2D you are just working on one, basically flat, plane; you can use a bit of artful shading, plop in a few trees and an inquisitive rabbit and you’re away. When you’re looking to create a complete immersive VR world, then things can get a bit tricky. You have got to add depth. There must be objects at different distances away from the camera or the viewer. It’s those objects which will give the thing depth and will create that whole feel of it being, literally, a virtual reality. 2D or not 2D If the viewer or something the viewer is watching, is not just going to move left to right, then its world must be populated- and the objects that it’s populated with must also have 3D properties. That is what gives the whole thing perspective. Flat trees just don’t work in the world of virtual reality. But where on earth are you going to get all these objects from? Image libraries are almost entirely in 2D, they’re no good at all for VR. There are certain animation programs that will create 3D a character out of a number of drawings done at different angles, but there is a lot of skill involved in that. There must be an easier way. Enter Google Poly Well, there is. It’s called Google Poly. It is a library of objects and scenes and they are all in 3D- and what’s more, it is absolutely free. There are relatively simple objects, such as trees and apples along with much more complex structures. They are all technologically agnostic, so should perform on pretty much any platform. What’s more, many of them are modifiable. So you can personalise and really make the whole thing your very own. In all likelihood, most developers will still want to create everything themselves, to give their app their own individual style. But, for the smaller developer, this should help them save time and a lot of effort- which will see them get their work out into the market-place more speedily and more effectively. Developers can concentrate on developing, not taking art classes. From the Ground Up Google built the Poly from the ground up, so you know there are going to be no compatibility issues with Google Cardboard, whatever the iteration. As they say themselves, this was a natural extension of their work with Tilt Brush and Blocks, which made the creative side of things much more straightforward. Now, they are looking to enable developers to build on other people’s work. At the end of the day, they recognise, that the more apps there are out there; the more headsets there are out there; the more solid will the market-place be and the sooner true ubiquity will be achieved. "body": "\n\nBuilding your own virtual reality app is not the easiest thing in the world to do. It’s those objects which will give the thing depth and will create that whole feel of it being, literally, a virtual reality.\n\n2D or not 2D\n\nIf the viewer or something the viewer is watching, is not just going to move left to right, then its world must be populated- and the objects that it’s populated with must also have 3D properties. There must be an easier way.\n\nEnter Google Poly\n\nWell, there is. Developers can concentrate on developing, not taking art classes.\n\nFrom the Ground Up\n\nGoogle built the Poly from the ground up, so you know there are going to be no compatibility issues with Google Cardboard, whatever the iteration. For now, just take advantage of having your life made a little bit easier.\n\nOriginally Published at MaxboxVR: https://bit.ly/2K5MCKt",

| title | Customer Loyalty - the Gift of VR |
| body | Much emphasis is always placed on the sales process. Getting the leads in, getting the sale made, getting the deal signed; are all of paramount importance to any business. However, once you've made the sale, there is no greater ambassador for your product than a happy customer. Let's face it; it shouldn't be that hard, should it? After all, they want to be happy with their purchase. They don't want to think they made a mistake and wasted their money. So, to convert 'happy with' to real customer loyalty is just about reinforcing the feeling they had when they made the decision to buy- and then taking it a stage further. It's All About Engagement The Holy Grail for any kind of customer engagement is to get the customer to, well, engage; to engage with the product. You are trying to elicit an emotional reaction. When that happens, a sale becomes more likely. When that happens after a sale, then you're well on the way to having gained that elusive customer loyalty. Right back to when rich media, such as audio and video, first starting appearing on the internet, there have been any number of studies showing that the moving image was, by far and away, the most effective way of grabbing a viewer's attention- and keeping it. The longer you can hold them; the tighter you'll hold them. VR Changing the Paradigm Now with the advent of virtual reality, we are seeing the early days of a paradigm shift in how products and services are sold and marketed. Almost incredibly, it is a move away from the internet. The internet is the ultimate viewing experience, but no matter how intuitive it gets, no matter how many cookies or questionnaires or surveys you get involved with; it is a viewing experience. It's all in 2D. The immersive experience of 360 degree virtual reality takes the whole thing to a completely different level. Now, this situation is not going to last for long, the web is already fighting back- evidence Microsoft's mixed reality platform. But for now, the VR headset is king and the most exciting marketing innovation in a decade. The Facts In a recent study by the mighty Nielsen, consumers were far more emotionally connected to VR content than they were to the standard 2D stuff. A 27% higher level of engagement than 2D and a 17% higher level of emotional engagement than a 360 degree video shown on a flat screen. Of course they were more engaged. 2D is old hat. By using new technology, you can give many consumers the chance to experience something that is completely new to them. Many will never have experienced virtual reality before. Well, the excitement of that new experience will also rub-off on how they view your product. It's All About Immersion Of course, it's not just the novelty of a new experience; it is also about the quality of the experience itself. In immersing a viewer in the virtual world, you are not just taking control of what he sees; you are taking control of how he feels about it. When you hand-out your branded Google Cardboard headset you are changing the way that your customers will view yourselves and your product. It's not just 'nice to have' you are, quite literally, enhancing their lives. Your promo material will be re-visited, it will be shared. You are, in a small way, creating your own 'viralability'. Versatility "VR is ideal for luxury brands and products, where VR can help convey the experience of the product in an immersive way," said Adam Fingerman of ArcTouch. But customer retention and building that hoped-for loyalty is relevant to any business. Of course, the message must be right and it needs to be informative. The very fact of the 'gift' of the VR headset will enhance the message and make it more likely to be viewed and understood, but virtual reality is the medium, not the content. It is not an end in and of itself. As with anything, 99% of it is actually getting round to doing it. Well, the time to really get on the VR bandwagon is now. Make the most of its novelty value and give your customers something of real intrinsic value- they'll thank you for it. Originally Published at Maxbox VR: https://bit.ly/2M2PZ1n |

"body": "\n\nMuch emphasis is always placed on the sales process. So, to convert 'happy with' to real customer loyalty is just about reinforcing the feeling they had when they made the decision to buy- and then taking it a stage further.\n\nIt's All About Engagement\n\nThe Holy Grail for any kind of customer engagement is to get the customer to, well, engage; to engage with the product. You are trying to elicit an emotional reaction. When that happens, a sale becomes more likely. When that happens after a sale, then you're well on the way to having gained that elusive customer loyalty.\n\nRight back to when rich media, such as audio and video, first starting appearing on the internet, there have been any number of studies showing that the moving image was, by far and away, the most effective way of grabbing a viewer's attention- and keeping it. The longer you can hold them; the tighter you'll hold them.\n\nVR Changing the Paradigm\n\nNow with the advent of virtual reality, we are seeing the early days of a paradigm shift in how products and services are sold and marketed. Mount a headset and transform your world into something completely different. Technology is catching up fast to become the next mainstay at our homes and workplaces. Here are a few VR facts you may not have heard: First VR Headset Was Made in 1995 In 1995, a company named Virtual I/O developed head mounted VR glasses called i-glasses. The Secret about Sony’s PlayStation VR Headset One of the most popular VR headsets on the market today includes PlayStation VR (PSVR). It was secretly developed by a small group of Sony engineers in a lab and supervisors didn’t know about it until it was complete. Virtual Reality isn’t Only Limited to Gaming It is a common misconception that VR only belongs in entertainment and gaming industries but truth can’t be further apart. Virtual Reality is being extensively used for medical science, space exploration and military applications. Moreover, most of the 3D content being created today is captured with VR cameras. Oculus Rift Breathed Life into VR through Kickstarter Virtual Reality, despite having decades of technological legacy, was considered dead for all practical purposes until, in 2012, a small scale developer Oculus VR initiated a Kickstarter campaign to raise $250,000 promising to develop a modern yet affordable VR headset called Oculus Rift. Following unprecedented success, Oculus was eventually acquired by Facebook for $2 billion. Virtual Reality Has a Cousin — Augmented Reality While Virtual Reality is all about creating an alternate universe completely detached from the reality, Augmented Reality (AR) basically overlays virtual elements onto the real world in your surroundings. You can interact with these elements just like in VR. Microsoft HoloLens is one of the devices specifically targeted at AR. $49,000 Virtual Reality Device in 1980s Jaron Lanier, an American computer philosophy writer and visual artist, created a VR device complete with goggles and gloves.
