| body | There are several ways to create an EOS account, with the official [eos.io cleos](https://developers.eos.io/eosio-nodeos/docs/learn-about-wallets-keys-and-accounts-with-cleos) command line tool (I tried [cleos with docker](https://github.com/EOSIO/eos/tree/master/Docker)), [SimplEOS](https://eosrio.io/simpleos/), [EOSToolkit.io](https://eostoolkit.io/), but they assume that you already have an account to begin with, or a friend that can do it for you, or pay an online service such as: * [zeos.co](https://zeos.co), cost: **17.3 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) * [eos-account-creator.com](https://eos-account-creator.com), cost: **25 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) I checked how to [create an account via EOSToolkit.io](https://eostoolkit.io/create) As you can see in the page or screenshot: 0.1 EOS need to be staked for net and 0.1 EOS for the CPU. You also need **RAM** (minimum 4 KB, ideally 8 KB) and this is **what costs the most**. The RAM cost is volatile (it actually increased a lot, compared to a few weeks ago, somebody even got rich trading ram), this website lists the current RAM cost: https://www.eosrp.io/ At the moment of writing (2018-07-08), the RAM costs around 0.434 EOS/KB. EOS price: 8.5 USD. Cost of 4 KB RAM: 0.434 \* 4 = **1.736 EOS** => account cost (including 0.2 EOS for net and cpu): 1.936 EOS = **16.46 USD** Cost of 8 KB RAM: 0.434 \* 8 = **3.472 EOS** => account cost (including 0.2 EOS for net and cpu): 3.672 EOS = **31.2 USD** ## How to create an EOS account for FREE **After many searches, I finally found a way to create a FREE account** with the [MEET.ONE](https://MEET.ONE) app. Read [How to use MEET.ONE ?](https://medium.com/@MEET.ONE/how-to-use-meet-one-5d1d6071eb8e), the instructions to get the free account are at the end of the article. (Tested on 2018-07-10, it worked! I could also change the owner key. MEET.ONE pays the RAM for you.) There are a few "catches": * **the method works only on Android mobile phones** (I tried to download the apk file on my PC, without success) * the app can be downloaded only from the [MEET.ONE download page](https://meet.one/download/en) (which is a bit dodgy, I asked in their telegram group why it's not on the Play Store, I was told it's in progress... that's why I suggest to create your own key and change active & owner permissions before doing anything valuable with the account) * you must have a twitter account and tweet their post (fair enough: **they fund the RAM for your account, worth 15 USD**: in exchange you advertize their service on twitter) * you must have telegram and request the invitation code by writing a personal message to a MEET.ONE admin (Eve, she responded within 8 hours -I asked before going to sleep and got a reply in the morning after walking up- so be patient) ## Where to buy EOS If you own bitcoin and you want to buy some alt coins to diversify, try [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=15877893): - it's one of the best exchanges and it doesn't require any verification (unless you need to transfer more than 1 BTC/day, you don't need to verify your account). - the withdrawal fee is only **0.01 EOS** and the minimum amount to withdraw is 0.1 EOS, which makes **binance** ideal for testing purposes: 0.01 EOS is 8.5 cents, 0.1 EOS are 85 cents. If a test goes wrong you lose less than 1 USD, which is an acceptable risk. To compare, **bitfinex** allows to withdraw EOS for free, but requires to withdraw at least the equivalent of 250 USD, which is not really convenient for a person who wants to make some tests to get familiar with this cryptocurrency. ## Final notes I will update this article or add comments with updates, stay tuned. Please upvote this post if it helped you. Thank you. |

MEET.ONE pays the RAM for you.)\n\nThere are a few \"catches\":\n\n* **the method works only on Android mobile phones** (I tried to download the apk file on my PC, without success)\n* the app can be downloaded only from the [MEET.ONE download page](https://meet.one/download/en) (which is a bit dodgy, I asked in their telegram group why it's not on the Play Store, I was told it's in progress... that's why I suggest to create your own key and change active & owner permissions before doing anything valuable with the account)\n* you must have a twitter account and tweet their post (fair enough: **they fund the RAM for your account, worth 15 USD**: in exchange you advertize their service on twitter)\n* you must have telegram and request the invitation code by writing a personal message to a MEET.ONE admin (Eve, she responded within 8 hours -I asked before going to sleep and got a reply in the morning after walking up- so be patient)\n\n## Where to buy EOS\n\nIf you own bitcoin and you want to buy some alt coins to diversify, try [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=15877893):\n- it's one of the best exchanges and it doesn't require any verification (unless you need to transfer more than 1 BTC/day, you don't need to verify your account).\n- the withdrawal fee is only **0.01 EOS** and the minimum amount to withdraw is 0.1 EOS, which makes **binance** ideal for testing purposes: 0.01 EOS is 8.5 cents, 0.1 EOS are 85 cents. If a test goes wrong you lose less than 1 USD, which is an acceptable risk. To compare, **bitfinex** allows to withdraw EOS for free, but requires to withdraw at least the equivalent of 250 USD, which is not really convenient for a person who wants to make some tests to get familiar with this cryptocurrency.\n\n## Final notes\n\nI will update this article or add comments with updates, stay tuned.\nPlease upvote this post if it helped you. Thank you.",

| body | ## TL;DR There are several ways to create an EOS account, via cleos command line tool, SimplEOS, EOS Toolkit etc. all the methods I've found assume that you already have an account to begin with, or a friend that can do it for you, or pay an online service. **After many searches, I finally found a way to create a FREE account** with the MEET.ONE app. Read [How to use MEET.ONE ?](https://medium.com/@MEET.ONE/how-to-use-meet-one-5d1d6071eb8e), the instructions to get the free account are at the end of the article. (Tested on 2018-07-10, it worked! I could also change the owner key. MEET.ONE pays the RAM for you.) ## Introduction I originally posted [this idea in reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/eos/comments/8wwfcp/alternative_to_create_eos_accounts_than_using/) but when I checked the page with an incognito window, the content appeared as [removed]. That's why I decided to re-post it here, with a few updates. I'm new to EOS, EOS looks quite interesting, except that the account creation for now is sub-optimal: you need another account to fund it, for now it's not yet possible to create an empty account and allow the person to transfer some coins in it to activate it, which would be the best way for people who bought EOS in an exchange... I bought a few EOS on [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=15877893) and I'd like to move them to a wallet I control, but to create an account, either I have a **"friend"** who creates it for me, or I have to use an **online service** like: - [zeos.co](https://zeos.co/), cost: **17.3 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) - [eos-account-creator.com](https://eos-account-creator.com/), cost: **25 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) - I don't know other services. If you know cheaper services please add a comment. To me these prices look quite expensive. If you browse to https://eostoolkit.io/create you can see that the **minimum amount of EOS to allocate for an account is 0.2 EOS (0.1 for the net stake, 0.1 for the CPU stake)**. See screenshot below: **What I initially did not understand and forgot to take into account, was that an account also needs RAM**: the minimum amount of RAM needed is 4 KB, but it seems better to allocate 8 KB if you plan many operations. The RAM cost is volatile, check the current RAM cost: https://www.eosrp.io/ When I checked on 2018-07-08 RAM costed 0.434 EOS/KB. 1 EOS costed (on 2018-07-08) around 8.5 USD. Cost of 4 KB RAM: 0.434 * 4 = 1.736 EOS => account cost (including 0.2 EOS for net and cpu): 1.936 EOS = **16.46 USD** Cost of 8 KB RAM: 0.434 * 8 = 3.472 EOS => account cost (including 0.2 EOS for net and cpu): 3.672 EOS = **31.2 USD** If EOS price doubles (and the RAM cost stays the same as now), the price listed above in USD will double too. So an account cost could rise to more than **60 USD**. In May 2018 EOS price reached 22 USD, so it's very possible that the actual EOS price doubles if the project seems successful as I believe it will be. I don't know about you, but to me this seems quite a considerable amount. The following is a little guide I wrote thinking that people may ask a buddy to create an account for them. **If you are new and you don't know how to create your private keys, you can do that via SimpleEOS.** ## Procedure to REQUEST a new EOS account (for people who NEED an account) **Step 0**: Download SimplEOS from https://eosrio.io/simpleos/, install it, open it, then click on "REQUEST NEW ACCOUNT", the following steps number reflect SimpleEOS. **Step 1**: insert the EOS account name (12 characters, verify that it's available). **Step 2**: if you don't have generated yet a private/public pair, click on "Generate Key Pairs". Make sure to save your private and public keys in a secure place, e.g. a password manager like [Keepass](https://keepass.info/). **Step 3**: save the account creation code and send it to the buddy if your buddy can use SimplEOS to create your account. Else you'll send him your wished eos account name and your Owner and Active public key (can be the same key). **NEVER send your private key to anybody: as "private" implies, it should stay private, only for you.** **Step 4**: send 0.2 EOS to your buddy (when you enter withdraw address and memo, as "memo" you can specify your new account name or a code so that your buddy knows the payment is from you, in case he also helps many other people to create accounts), so he can fund your new EOS account. ## Procedure to CREATE an account for an account requester (for people who can HELP creating accounts) 1. Send to the requester your EOS address (at best one that you can control, not an exchange one, so the buddy can write whatever he wants as memo and you will still receive them). 1. Send to the requester a link to this post and explain him to install SimplEOS and (if he doesn't have the keys) to generate active and owner key pairs as described above. Active and owner key can be the same. Tell your buddy to send you: wished account name, owner public key, active public key. Or if you know how to create an account using the account creation code, tell him to send you that code (I tried to find in SimplEOS the option but couldn't, maybe I will be able to see it when I'll have an active EOS account?). 1. Create the EOS account for your buddy, either via EOS Toolkit, SimplEOS or with your favorite method (e.g. via cleos command line tool? Other simple ways, please share). ## Final notes I will update this post or add comments with updates, stay tuned. Please upvote this post if it helped you. Thank you. |

| body | I originally posted [this idea in reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/eos/comments/8wvmcm/alternative_to_create_eos_accounts_than_using/) but when I check it with an ingonito window, the content looks like [removed]. That's why I decided to post it in steem-it. I hope someone will answer my call! ## Introduction I'm new to EOS, EOS looks quite interesting, except that the account creation for now is sub-optimal (you need another account to fund it, for now it's not yet possible to create an empty account and allow the person to transfer some coins in it to activate it, which would be the best way for people who bought EOS in an exchange...). I bought a few EOS on [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=15877893) and I'd like to move them to a wallet I control, but to create an account, either I have a **"friend"** who creates it for me, or I have to use an **online service** like the following: - [zeos.co](https://zeos.co/), cost: **17.3 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) - [eos-account-creator.com](https://eos-account-creator.com/), cost: **25 USD** (last checked on 2018-07-07) - I don't know other services. If you know cheaper services please add a comment. To me these prices look damn expensive. No offense for the creators of these websites, but it's a rip-off. I don't care about the RAM costs, that BS to me, because if I go to https://eostoolkit.io/create I see that the **minimum amount of EOS to allocate for an account is 0.2 EOS (0.1 for the net stake, 0.1 for the CPU stake)**. See screenshot below: Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding these 0.2 EOS won't be "lost" (e.g. like the 20 XRP for a ripple wallet creation, that you will never be able to get back), but you can actually withdraw everything to a different account if you want to stop using that account. So the cost to fund an account is 0.2 EOS. But in reality the cost is 0, as if you want you can withdraw all your balance, including those 0.2 EOS. I've read that people suggest to let a "friend" (who has an account) create an account for you. This seems a good idea as I've read that I need to provide to my friend only my public key (he should use the same key for active and owner, so that he won't have any permission on my account). To pay my friend, I'd send him 0.2 EOS he used to fund my account and voilà, the only thing he lost are a few minutes to help me. **The only problem is that I don't have any friends who deal with crypto, in particular with EOS.** **Here my idea**: let's create a **chain of people helping each other creating EOS accounts for free**. Somebody will help you, in exchange you help at least another person to create an EOS account. At the moment of writing (2018-07-07) 1 EOS costs around 8.5 USD. Let's make it 10 USD to simplify calculations. **Requirement, you must pay the person 0.2 EOS = 2 USD in advance**. This is reasonable. If the person will steal them from you, you will lose just 2 USD, which is an acceptable risk if you consider you can save 15 USD (compared to the cheapest service I know at the moment, zeos, that charges 17 USD). To make things less risky, you should obviously not trust people with a new reddit account with 0 karma. I admit I'm kinda new to reddit too, so you tell me if 50 karma is enough? Higher the karma, the better of course. To get EOS is as simple as buying some on an exchange like [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=15877893), check [binance withdrawal fees](https://www.binance.com/fees.html): the fee to withdraw EOS is only 0.01 = 10 cents and the minimum amount to withdraw is 0.1 EOS. Perfect, what you need to withdraw is only 0.2 EOS (which is above the minimum) and send them to your buddy. I don't understand what happens if the buddy (see screenshot above) does not click the "Transfer" button. In that case he can still control the 0.2 EOS he used to fund the new account and the new owner can't get then, or can it be even worse than that? Anyway, while writing this post I found a much easier way to get ready to get an account and to create an account, via SimplEOS. ## Procedure to CREATE an account for a an account requester (for people who can HELP creating accounts) 1. ## Final notes I will update this post or create a newer one and post a link in the comments. If you like my idea please upvote this post. If you think this idea is insane or I forgot some important details, please comment and explain what should be improved. That said, if you are a EOS "guru" and you can help me creating my EOS account, please [send me a PM (private message) on reddit](https://www.reddit.com/user/firepol) and we'll test this procedure and I'll pay you 0.2 EOS to get started. Looking forward to have an account and be able to help other people to create their accounts! Cheers |

| body | I like the idea of automatic buy and sell. Just, isn't sometimes crypto so volatile that you get your stop buy/sell orders triggered by a short spike, if you see what I mean? Also, I heard you have engineering experience... ever considered trying a trading bot? You can run simulations on past data and create a model to apply to the future, tune existing strategies, no coding experience needed, else you can also code your own strategy of course. Recently I got involved in this project and I can recommend you to give it a try, there is also a "paper" mode (real time trading, but no trade done, only simulated) which I recommend to see how good or bad the bot is. I think you may understand it quite well and tune it better than me. https://github.com/DeviaVir/zenbot It works better on linux/mac, but you an get it working also in windows of course. Maybe I'll write soon a tutorial on steem just to get people started and give it a try on "paper". Let me know what you think. |

| body | Haha funny about Luna ;) So what about the bitfinex small deposit fee question? If I send you a donation of 0.0008 BTC ~9 USD bitfinex will charge you 0.0008 BTC "small deposit fee" (so making the donation useless in this case)? |

| body | I watched several of your videos: GOOD STUFF! Btw I see you are accepting donations to Luna on bitfinex... I'm new to bitfinex but I've read you (or Luna... btw who's Luna?) have to pay a "small deposit fee" for deposits less than 1000 USD value (so basically any donation from a normal person, unless you expect big donations from whales), is that right? check bitfinex's page: https://www.bitfinex.com/fees If it's like that you don't really want to use a bitfinex wallet for small donations... correct me if I'm wrong. Cheers and thanks again for your work |
