      "body": "You are spot on about sound being the beginning. That is why Genesis 1 says \"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth\" and John 1:1- 5 says \"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men.\"\n\nGod spoke and created. It is also very interesting when you look at the word universe, which translates into uni-verse - a single spoken word/sentence. It was from His voice that all life began. It is also why we have the trinity of trinities - Space, time and matter. You can have matter without somewhere to put it and you have to put it somewhere at some point in time. Space has hight, depth and width. Matter has solid, liquid, gas. Time has past, present, and future. \n\nIt is only the Gospel of Jesus Christ that you find all of life's questions in one coherent answer. For all have sinned (hence the phrase \"I'm only human\" when we mess up. Since we have all messed up, and even continue to mess up (be it big or small), we will never be perfect. So being good isn't enough to save us - plus who sets the standard of what is good enough? God sets the standard and it is perfection. Once we mess up once (though we do it more than just once) we will never be perfect again. But that is the beauty of the Gospel of Christ. It isn't about us being \"good\" it is about freely accepting what He has done for us - bore our burden and taken our punishment by dying the death we should die to pay the just penalty of our sins. It isn't a matter of our good deeds, but a matter of our faith and accepting that what Christ did, He did not have to do, but did it anyway for us. If we accept this, believe it in our heart that Christ was raised from the dead and confess with our mouth that He is Lord, then we will be saved. \n\nThe outworking of our good deeds, should reflect the state of our heart. It's like success though... \"Success is never owned, its only rented and rent is due everyday\". Life is a real struggle, and it gets even harder when we lose focus of our responsibilities. We all have to take ownership of our actions, because we always reap what we sow, more than we sow, later than we sow. That's why its so important to give generously and honestly with humility. To give thanks when thanks are due, and to continually humble ourselves - not think less of ourselves, but for the betterment of others.       "body": "I'm not really sure where to start, but I guess that is usually the hardest part at times. \n\nJust taking a step and getting going at times can be a daunting task.\n\nAre we sure we have what it takes to begin? What will we be met with along the way? Can we finish what we've started?\n\nI've come to realize it isn't really important to have all the answers. I am making a move to let my voice be heard. \n\nI am no different than you. I work, eat, drink, sleep, rinse and repeat. There are ups and downs in all of it. Some of the details may vary some, but overall we are the same race - the human race.\n\nWe were all created in the image of God. We were all given unique and amazing skills and talents. James leads off his epistle to the newly formed church like this... \"Consider it pure joy when you face trials of various kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, and perseverance character, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing\" (James 1:2-4)\n\nLife is what we make of it, or put another way... \"As a man thinketh, so is he\"\n\nWhen we face hard times will we push the blame along the line? After all that is just what Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.  Genesis 3:8-13 details the blame game. When God asked what was going on and why they were hiding and how they knew they were now naked, Adam responded \"The woman You gave to be with me - she gave me some fruit from the tree\" [the one He said don't eat]. That is Adam passing the blame on to Eve. Then Eve said to God, \"It was the serpent\". Neither of them took responsibility for their own actions, and we continue to do the same thing today. \n\nMy goal today, the step I want to take right now, is to continue to take responsibility for my actions, to own up to the decisions that I have made - good and bad alike. \n\nIt is our willingness to accept the poor decisions we make that give us the opportunity for the most growth. It is the rain along with the sunshine that causes the garden to grow. It is the manure and fertilizer that is piled into the garden that gives the plants the nutrients needed to thrive, blossom and fruit.       "body": "Believe it or not, we are born into a world at war. \n\nIf you've lived any length of time, you've probably found there isn't really a more accurate statement. \n\nWe battle on a daily basis against all kinds of things. Of course there are days with some respite, but those are rarely the norm.\n\nI have been struggling with my job lately. Struggling to find that place of fulfillment and purpose. Somewhere along the way over the past few years it has slipped away under an avalanche of the monotonously mundane daily duties that have sought to burry my passion and make me a complacent slave seeking only to make money to pay the mortgage, car payment, minimum credit card bill, utilities, Netflix, amongst the other menial \"pleasures\" of life.\n\nI bought a house almost a year ago, and I have barely been able to take the time to maintain it due to such a hectic schedule. One of my goals was to put in a garden. With the help of my lovely lady we were able to clean up the over grown fence and put in a small plot out back. It takes both sunshine and rain. \n\nThere is a lot left to do and a lot to manage. There are many more battles to be waged, and some of them will be more difficult than I would like, but the one thing I've learned over my short stint of life is that as long as we persevere we will come out the other side. James, Jesus' brother, lead his letter to the early church with this amazing statement \"Consider it pure joy when you face trials/adversity of various kinds\". I want to say \"Uhh, James do you know what kind of adversity we face this day?\"\n\nThe trial doesn't really matter as long as you know where you stand. James goes on to say \"Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance, so that you may be mature and complete lacking nothing.\" All of life's struggles, all of the battles and challenges we face are for a reason - to strengthen us. \n\nIf we aren't sure what is happening, why it is happening or how to deal with it, James goes on to say \"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given him. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like the wave of the sea, blown and tossed about by the wind. That man should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all he does.\"\n\nThe battles of this world at war take faith to make it through. It takes perseverance. Remember that even if you can't see the light right now, and it seems as if you are losing, there is hope. Hope in your future strength. Hope in making it through, knowing that this dark time will simply strengthen you for the bright days ahead. \n\nThe garden doesn't grow without the dark rainy days, and so it is with us.",
