| body | In spite of the bear market, the progress of the Evident Proof team in building its blockchain-powered immutable proof platform has been unrelenting, as has its reception by businesses looking to integrate the EP solution into their operations. We’re currently trialling a number of different proof-of-concepts with a range of businesses wanting to create immutable proofs and ensure transparency in everything from supply chain management, to insurance, to medical applications. Token Sale - Accepting New Currencies Don’t forget that our token sale for EPT is still ongoing, in light of recent market trends. To participate, simply sign up here. In a recent press release, we announced our intention to provide our users with even more payment options – notably, with the addition of two incredibly popular cryptocurrencies, XRP and Dash, which we believe will only add to the flexibility of the platform. XRP is currently ranked as the third largest cryptocurrency in the world, and will shortly become the fuel for xRapid, Ripple’s protocol for the settlement of international transfers in a matter of minutes. Many are optimistic that such institutional products will push companies and financial institutions to adopting XRP as their currency of choice. Dash, at time of writing, is the thirteenth most popular cryptocurrency, renowned for its fast transactions and opt-in privacy settings. It’s been under the limelight recently when it came to light that it was incredibly popular choice for merchants and consumers in Venezuela, where the national bolivar is rapidly being devalued as a result of hyperinflation. Given the features of both of these coins (as well as their relative stability), we feel that they make excellent candidates for payment options on the EP platform, complementing our current acceptance of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, ether, Litecoin, Monero and BNB – coins that are highly valued in the developer community. As you know, we actively encourage developers to contribute to the Evident Proof developer programme to earn rewards in native tokens for their efforts. Law industry stamp of approval In other news, Evident Proof has recently received the stamp of approval from the UK’s second largest law firm, CMS. The practice recognised the value proposition of the platform, and even deemed the immutable proofs created to be admissible in courts of law across a number of continents – specifically, in Europe, Canada, the US, Hong Kong and China. Furthermore, EP’s smart contracts received a score of 100% from renowned auditors Hosho. How to Participate and stay in touch To participate in the token sale, simply sign up here. As always, if you haven’t already, be sure to follow us on Twitter and join the discussion on Telegram. |

| body | Ensuring Authenticity with the Evident Proof Platform Evident Proof is perhaps best described as a business that enables the creation and verification of immutable proofs, in the vein of the increasingly popular X-as-a-service model. Through the Evident Proof platform, any organisation or individual can seamlessly integrate EP’s solution into their existing operations. When the platform receives data from a business, be it details on inventory, shipping information or serial numbers, Evident Proof encrypts this data and creates a digital signature (called seals) for that specific packet of information. This seal is then uploaded to an immutable and permanent record, which is composed of a pair of blockchains (one private and one public). The applications of such robust proofs are numerous – businesses are better able to verify a range of data pertinent to their operations, keep meticulous timestamped records for audit purposes/regulatory compliance, and easily attest to the occurrence or provenance of a given event. In this post, we’d like to take a deep dive into a use case that we initially outlined in our whitepaper – that is, the implementation of Evident Proof into the operations of a manufacturer. In this instance, we’ll examine how a bicycle business might make use of the platform. The Business Rough Terrain Cycles is a business that takes pride in its ability to provide customers with high-quality, UK-built bicycles. They decide to adopt a proof chain approach to make this claim verifiable for a number of reasons: -It may make them eligible for government subsidies (in the aim of boosting their overseas marketing efforts, training employees and joining apprenticeship schemes) -Allow them to provide proof of their claims that would allow them to distribute their bicycles in the EU -Enables them to prove to customers that their products are, in fact, made in the country, and not imported -Creates unhackable and unalterable records -Grants ready access to proofs in the event of a dispute arising -Ensures compliance with a number of standards – PCIDSS, ISO, Sarbanes-Oxley Insofar as data being stored, there’s a plethora of information generated in the manufacturing and shipping processes that is worth creating proofs of in order to later verify: -On the manufacturing front – bills of materials, work orders, locations, assembly instructions -Inventory – physical location of various components or products within warehouses, their availability, when stock will be replenished, etc. -Engineering documentation (technical specifications and maintenance instructions for the bicycles or peripheral products) Once bicycles are assembled and their serial numbers are assigned, the software can automatically create an immutable record containing these. As a result, if counterfeiting is suspected, it’s trivial to perform a lookup of the serial number to determine its authenticity. Ease of Use Assuming that Rough Terrain Cycles, like many businesses, already use something like an SQL database for their data handling requirements, the integration of the proof chain is incredibly simple. They sign a Proof Chain Service Agreement, certifying that said data is both unique and proprietary, before interfacing with EP’s backend through REST APIs. The platform is built in such a way that it is highly secure and scalable, relying on distributed nodes and containerisation/virtualisation in a cloud database, adhering to the latest encryption standards. To the end user/business, however, it’s as simple as pointing their data towards this platform through Evident Proof’s intuitive web-based portal. Unprecedented Transparency The example of the use of blockchain technology for the purposes of creating seals in the manufacturing of bicycles is just one of hundreds of applications – the Evident Proof platform can be used not only in attesting to the provenance of specific products, but in supply chains, insurance and legal chain-of-custody areas. For more information on the technical specifications of the platform, take a look at Evident Proof’s technical paper. | body | Blockchain technology has been touted as the most significant technology since the internet. It promises to resolve some of the foremost issues that plague industries across the board, erasing inefficiencies, increasing transparency and better connecting stakeholders. As those familiar with Evident Proof’s mission know, we’re particularly interested in the applications of the technology in the insurance industry – it’s one of the major use cases we’ve been developing a solution for. Considering the central role of insurance in today’s society, it’s probably time that some of its long-standing issues are addressed. Chief amongst these is undoubtedly the lack of transparency. On one hand, this impact customers purchasing home, vehicle or medical insurance – when signing up for policies, it’s impossible for them to understand exactly what’s covered, and what needs to be paid for out of pocket should an incident arise. On the other, insurance companies have a harder time identifying fraud, both internally and externally (a recent McKinsey & Company report estimated that 5-10% of claims are fraudulent). Integrating blockchain technology into businesses operating in the sector seems logical: at its core, a distributed ledger is an immutable database, owned by no single party. Unlike the databases seen for the past few decades, which are subject to the whims of a centralised party, decentralised ones cannot be altered in any way, as copies are scattered across synchronising nodes. To make a change, consensus between these nodes has to be reached (therefore, if an attacker wishes to modify it in in any way, the change will simply be rejected). Blockchain databases essentially make deletion impossible. The result is a cryptographically-secured list of records, stored forever. More importantly, these are visible to all. Companies opting to implement distributed ledger solutions into their operations benefit both themselves and their customers: on the customer’s side, there is a wealth of easily-accessible information on previous incidents, the factors surrounding them, and how the company handled the process. On the business side of things, it means that claims lodged cannot be tampered with, and that companies can create a virtual and immutable paper trail to prevent fraud within the company. Blockchain technology’s potential in the insurance industry is widely recognised. A 2017 report by EY highlighted some of the aforementioned areas (fraud prevention and claims management) whilst also exploring the role IoT could play for generating reliable and traceable data. We’re witnessing both startups and existing companies researching and implementing blockchain solutions in this manner – we’re proud to have already begun providing verification services for players in a handful of different industries. I anticipate that very soon, we’ll see the confidence of both consumers and businesses rise, as transparency and immutability enabled by blockchain technology allow for a much clearer and efficient overhaul to the insurance sector. | body | In spite of the bearish trend that has plagued the market over the past months, we’ve been making great strides with Evident Proof, both on the development front, and in interacting with other innovative teams in the space. Focus: Immutability, Insurance and Supply Chains It wasn’t long after the inception of Bitcoin that innovators began to see the potential for blockchain technology’s deployment in a plethora of industries. Indeed, the applications for tamper-proof and immutable ledgers owned by no central party are vast – our own focus has been on implementing systems to ensure greater transparency in both the insurance industry and in supply chain management. With supply chains, there are incredibly complex mechanisms at play: the parties involved in the delivery of a product from point A to point B range from several to hundreds, often spanning multiple nations and jurisdictions. Coordination is key to guarantee the fluid movement of goods, so that they arrive in a timely manner, in good condition. Of course, cohesion between fragmented entities is something that sounds better on paper than in practice – there are wildly varying standards for recording deliveries, storing data and producing documents. With each of these, comes a point of failure. Depending on the operation, this could result in a minor hiccup or a major disruption to operations. There are many parallels with these inefficiencies that can be drawn with the insurance industry – opacity, uncertainty and lack of interoperability can be a significant obstacle in lodging claims, effectively detecting fraud and interacting with parties such as notaries or healthcare providers. Both of these industries can greatly benefit from the integration of blockchain technology. Convoluted bureaucracy is cumbersome and disadvantages all stakeholders. Instead of having several entities needing to reconcile different databases and data formats, it seems logical to have one distributed databases, accessible by all but controlled by no single party. A distributed ledger allows for the logging of data in such a way that it cannot be edited or deleted, but only be appended to. In moving forward, it’s likely that we’ll see IoT devices integrated into shipping operations, providing location data which could be transmitted and uploaded to a blockchain for more efficient tracking (as well as flagging any tampering). For insurance, immutable insurance claims and policies would forever be visible to consumers, providing them with a better overview of when they can claim and what they can expect from the plans they’ve purchased. These two industries are just the tip of the iceberg – we’re building a highly versatile solution to ensure transparency and immutability for a range of use cases, from agricultural and environmental to financial sectors. Asian Tour The team were present at Coindesk’s hugely successful Consensus conference, this time hosted in Singapore. We met some of our supporters and welcomed many more as we engaged in discussions with investors, innovators and entrepreneurs involved in the booming blockchain industry. Of course, the conference is known for its high-level content and speaker lineups, so it was a pleasure to attend as part of our Asian tour – the video of the conference can be found here: https://bit.ly/2NoHLkD Our next stop is Tokyo, for Blockchain Unbound (running from the 14th to the 16th of October). We’re looking forward to engaging with more professionals in the area, enjoying the talks and meeting more of our supporters! The Token Sale In case you missed our previous communications on the matter, we’ve made some changes to the details of the token sale, in light of current market sentiment. Instead of ending it on schedule, we’ve been advised by numerous stakeholders that we would be better postponing the close of the sale until confidence in the market recovers. Our analysts are keeping a close eye on trends, and we will aim to end the sale in late October/November, depending on the conditions. UK IT Industry Awards We were thrilled to have made it to the shortlist for the UK Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award in the UK IT Industry Awards. We consider it a huge honour that our technology has been so well received – we feel it incredibly important, with the exponentially-growing production of data by companies, that unhackable proofs can be created to ensure the provenance of information from business operations. We’re very happy that such a prestigious body recognises the value in Evident Proof’s technology, and feel that it’s an accurate reflection of the industry as a whole. The winners of the award will be revealed in mid-November. If you haven’t already, join the conversation on Telegram and follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest developments on the EP front. |

| body | Describe your role at Evident Proof: I’m responsible for driving the marketing forward, from online campaigns, to organising our events schedule, to standing on stage and letting people know all about Evident Proof and why they should be using our platform. It’s an exciting time to be in this role, within an entirely new market sector. As a marketer, I need to adapt quickly to changing regulation, price volatility and new opportunities. It’s an exciting and varied role, which requires me to adapt strategy and explore new paths almost daily. One consistent area is influencers and how we connect with them to discuss the benefits of Evident Proof. In fact, education is an important and rewarding part of what I do here. It’s great to be able to teach people about the potential of blockchain and inspire business leaders from a range of sectors to find ways to use blockchain technology. Describe your average day as a team member: Rarely will I get a full night’s sleep, as I’m either responding to token buyers, partners or engaging with our social channels from across the world. I’ll then walk the dog in the morning whilst checking emails and getting an update on what’s likely to happen that day. From 9am, I’ll reply to emails, and attend Skype or face-to-face meetings with our marketing partners and suppliers. By lunchtime, I’ll be researching the next conferences we should attend, and presentations we’ll need for them. After 4pm I’ll then start catching up with our US partners and team abroad. How did you become interested in this industry?: I was advised by a friend a couple of years ago to buy some Ethereum. I tried several times but got bored by the amount of hoops you had to get through to buy any. Eventually I put the time aside and bought some in January 2017. I proceeded to forget about it only to get a happy surprise several months later. Since then I thought I should start to understand more about the industry than just the markets and what value there really is in utilising the Blockchain. I attended a Blockchain for Good round-table event in LA and it was meeting some of the inspirational people and hearing about their projects that really got me hooked. Now I’m blown away each day about the number of applications and problems the blockchain can solve. What blockchain use cases inspire you?: Anything that really helps solve real-world problems. Evident Proof allows you to store data in an immutable way. It can solve real-world problems such as enabling companies to demonstrate the provenance of manufacturing chains, thereby helping against the fraudulent production of products, art, medicine and more. It can help organisations or individuals prove something actually happened – for example, that they stored details in a way that complies with local legislation. Other solutions that inspire me include those that help people in developing countries store their IDs and education, allowing them to prove their identity and access vital rights and services they otherwise would have missed out on. Or solutions that give the ownership of data back to the users. What about your background set you up for success at EP?: I’ve always been working at the forefront of technology. I set up my first social media website in 1999, with over a million hits a month. In the days when Facebook still only allowed student accounts, I was among the first to utilise it for marketing. I then set up a mobile solution for the construction industry, replacing their paperwork with mobile devices. I’ve always wanted to understand how technology can help in the real world and the blockchain has so much potential, it was a natural progression for me to get involved in the next big technology advancement. What’s been the biggest challenge thus far (personally or to the company)?: The challenge for the company I would say was to get us past the IPO level verification, which cost a good deal of money and took a lot of time. But it now means we can stand by everything we’ve put in our white paper. What has been your proudest moment so far as a team member?: We picked up a large token buyer in the early days of Evident Proof, and went on to attract many more, along with some important partners. This progress galvanised new members of the team who could see the widespread belief in Evident Proof. It really built up momentum among the team. Now you can really see the team working well together out at conferences. Everyone has their strengths and everyone supports each other. It’s like we have a real family on tour, all driving towards the same goal, all with the same confidence. What motivates you to go into work every day?: The team around me. Everyone loves their jobs and the differences we’re making. It’s just great being involved in the start of a new technological revolution. As governments start to accept the value of the blockchain and decentralisation, or the people they govern learn the value and start to adopt, it will only be a matter of time before its benefits start permeating society. Then we’ll have no more dubious rigged voting. People will have a chance to get their own say in decisions governments and their companies make. People will own their own content and their own identities. Fraud will become much less of an issue. Lawsuits will cost a lot less. There are so many exciting developments coming. What sort of reactions are you getting from organisations you speak to?: Generally, organisations are impressed at just how simple and yet versatile our solution is for delivering immutable, unhackable, provenance of data. Take businesses like Swytch, which uses the blockchain to track carbon impact and reward sustainable actions. They’ve been delighted to find a platform that supports their core proposition. EP helps Swytch perform the verification and reward processes needed to a) incentivize producers to generate renewable energy, and b) offer consumers verifiable information necessary to participate in the emerging renewable energy market. So many different kinds of businesses have become excited about how EP can help them. An art dealing business very quickly identified how Evident Proof can help them overcome challenges relating to counterfeit artwork. Then there’s a large manufacturing company that turned to us to help them secure the provenance of their supply chain, and save them legal fees too. What sort of regulatory challenges do organisations like EP face?: The industry we work in is forever changing and you need to constantly adapt. For example, we had a whole tour of China arranged. A week before we left, China banned all Blockchain events and we had to cancel the whole thing and move our plans to other parts of Asia. Some seemingly negative changes can have a very positive effect though. For example, there has been a lot of news in the last year about data privacy and control following the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal, which has meant a lot of old tech companies having to explain their use of data. For a company like Evident Proof, where security and control of data is at the heart of what we do, it’s only been a positive thing. What do you hope to accomplish in the next 6 months?: As a company we intend on having offices setup in Asia and we’ll be well on our way to launching offices in America. Personally, I’m looking forward to helping more of the team we bring on globally and getting them ready to deliver our great solution to our global clients. What do you like to do outside of work?: Spend time with friends, family, any of my seven nieces and two nephews. I enjoy rock climbing, running and most importantly time with my Malamute/Husky called Faolan. We’ll go out with the bike and he’ll pull me along the river, then in the winter we’ll do the same on a snowboard. Would you like to join out token sale? | body | Evident Proof have been selected as a finalist in the UK Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award category for the 2018 UK IT Industry Awards this month. Last week co-founders Brian McClafferty and Matt Roden travelled to Manchester, where the pair were proud representatives of the company to make the final presentation to win this prestigious award. Brian and Matt enjoyed a fantastic reception when they presented the wide-ranging applicability of EP’s Immutable Proof as a Service (IPaaS) solution – from data compliance, to supply chain issues like provenance and anti-counterfeiting, through to producing evidence for legal claims. They particularly focused on how the Evident Proof platform can solve data provenance problems in the world of art, healthcare, manufacturing and social issues, such as identity of displaced children in developing. We are looking forward to hearing the final results which will be announced at a prize giving ceremony, to be held at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London on Wednesday 14 November 2018. Where we will be in good company with other finalists such as Allianz Insurance, BP, HMRC, QBE, Lloyds Banking Group and IBM just to name a few. Wish us luck! Next up for the EP team is Coindesk’s Consensus 2018 event on September 19 and 20 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. If anyone is at the event and would like to meet up for a chat, get in touch via Twitter (@EvidentProof).
