titleSleeping Giant: Tencent backed OST
body![26803155_10155751460715813_740791795_n.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWk517ggi3aNEp9RF4pLehZ9htkvwV8NCZJZ8PtrXUSRE/26803155_10155751460715813_740791795_n.png)I’ve seen a lot of rumours flying around recently about partnerships between LTC and Facebook or LTC and Amazon, but no-one seems to be talking about the partnership between OST and Tencent which already exists. For those who might not realise this, Tencent are the owners of WeChat, an integrated platform that goes way beyond Facebook and offers instant messaging, ecommerce and just about every other service you can find on the internet these days. It’s a one-stop shop for the online world. With the current hype around Telegram launching its own blockchain platform, it seems logical that WeChat might be one step ahead in this game. Wouldn’t they just use the Simple Token platform, that they are early backers of, to mint their own in-app cryptocurrency? It would explain why they were keen to get on board with the project. With the team behind Simple Token, as well as the fact they already have 9 companies confirmed that will be minting their tokens on the platform in order to tokenize their economy, (including 704Games and GushCloud, which are both well established companies) it seems like this one is an absolute steal. To me it looks like people are searching for/shilling rumours of non-existent partnerships when OST is already in bed with one of the largest players in the market. Please DYOR but to me, seems like this is massively undervalued at $200m marketcap…

titleHODL Series – Week 1 – Holding 20 Cryptocurrencies for one year
bodyWow! What a hectic couple of weeks that was. After managing to catch the alt surge after the BTG fork, we got back into BTC and started discussing our tactics for the Segwit2x fork in one of the private slack channels I’m in. It was then that someone put us on to Bitcoin Cash and laid out a sprawling conspiracy theory on what would unfold over the next couple of weeks leading up to the Segwit2x fork. This played out almost to a T, with the cancellation of the fork and the flippening of the hashrate to BCC. We made a bucket, with my original entry having been at 0.068. So, with a new stack of BTC much larger than I had started with, I wanted to split my portfolio up further from just day trading. As most of you know, I had been day trading and investing in the odd ICO, and have so far been wildly successful. I now want to diversify a little though and decided to invest in a series of long-term holds that I currently plan to keep for at least a year. This post will set-out the coins I’m holding, where they are listed and what price I bought in at (in BTC). I will make sure to do regular updates throughout the year on how this side project is going. I did not apply any weighting to this portfolio – I bought an equal amount of each of the coins listed below. Bitcoin (BTC) No portfolio would be complete without Bitcoin. The reasoning behind this is obvious; it’s the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation and has more lives than a glaring of cats, including surviving the recent onslaught from BCC, this was the first pick in my portfolio. Where to buy: Coinbase Price I bought: N/A Bitcoin Cash (BCC/BCH) I might be regretting this one a year from now, given how the price has risen so much over the last few weeks, but Bitcoin Cash does have a number of distinct advantages over Bitcoin and whilst Bitcoin is now more geared towards being a store of value, Bitcoin Cash could become the Cryptocurrency payment method of choice. In any event, all of this wouldn’t have been possible had I not bought in at 0.068 and sold above 0.27 so my buy-in for this long-term HODL isn’t too bad all things considered. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.20001095 Ethereum (ETH) One of the main competitors or Bitcoin, Ethereum is (most of the time) second only to BTC in its market cap. Although this year has been an astronomical year for ETH, it still only has less than 25% of the market cap of BTC and plenty of room to grow. The main idea behind this project is that I believe other alts will grow with BTC, and in some cases likely faster than it. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.04845403 Litecoin (LTC) Another competitor to BTC and what some would argue is a better alternative to Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin also deserved a place in this HODL portfolio. With around 1/10th of the market cap of Ethereum, 2018 might just be the year for LTC to take off. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00932499 Dash (DASH) Dash is another high market cap digital cash play that still has a lot of room to grow. Competing for a place in the top 5 by market cap, this was another easy pick for a long-term portfolio. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.06537073 OmiseGo (OMG) OMG was a fan favourite this year, peaking with rumours of a potential partnership with Apple Pay. Although this didn’t come to fruition yet, they have been making great partnerships so far this year and I think OMG has a long way to go yet. With well under $1bn market cap right now, this “blue chip” crypto was another essential pick. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00115033 ZCash (ZEC) ZCash is one of the leading privacy coins and also has a large market cap for this space. As online privacy becomes a central issue for users over the coming years, I think the privacy coins could take up a larger portion of the overall crypto market cap and hence a few of them feature on this list. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.04153415 Lisk (LSK) Lisk is a personal favourite of mine. After deciding to diversify from BTC and ETH into alt coins, Lisk was tipped to me by a big whale with a great understanding of the market. In a matter of days, my portfolio had gone 2x. Lisk is a platform based coin, releasing an SDK for developers to build decentralised apps. Creeping towards the top 10 now and with the SDK release and re-branding coming up, I’m hoping 2018 will be a great year for Lisk. Where to buy: Bittrex Price I bought: 0.00094732 Ark (ARK) Similar to Lisk (in more ways than one if you look at the dev teams and the communities), ARK is another platform play that was actually forked from Lisk. Ark has been gaining some traction in recent weeks and being a fan of DPOS coins (hence my investment in the OXY ICO) I think this one has a lot of room to grow over the coming year, with a current market cap of just over $300m. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00045344 Neo (NEO) Neo already saw incredible growth this year after its rapid rise in China but took a big hit after the banning of ICOs there and the surrounding FUD. In the long run, I think these matters will resolve themselves, especially once regulated exchanges come into the picture, and I hope that NEO will grow into a competitor for the top coins on this list. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00438585 Monero (XMR) Another privacy coin that saw a lot of growth this year, Monero is also a popular choice for GPU miners and one of the top coins by market cap. Again, a well-deserved place in my portfolio. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.01908998 NEM (XEM) NEM is a blockchain built around the concept of smart assets, with many potential real-world use cases. Consistently amongst the highest coins by market cap, this is another area that can grow alongside the Ethereum smart contract platform. Where to buy: Bittrex Price I bought: 0.00002945 Cardano (ADA) One of the favourite picks of the Bitcoin Bear, Cardano seems terribly undervalued right now with a market cap below $700m. This is one of the coins I have the highest hopes for over the coming year, as if you look into the tech and the team behind this coin, I could see this being a strong competitor to Ethereum. Where to buy: Bittrex Price I bought: 0.00000392 Stellar Lumens (XLM) Stellar is more of a payment processing platform than a currency and therefore isn’t really competing with banks as opposed to offering them (and large corporates) a service. This means mass adoption could come sooner and without as much resistance as other cryptos and could be one of the reasons they have been able to make amazing partnerships with companies like IBM. With less than 1/10th of the market cap of Ripple, this is another one I’m hoping for returns in the multiples over the next year. Where to buy: Bittrex Price I bought: 0.00000467 Zencash (ZEN) Whilst Teeka may have turned PBC into a massive pump and dump group over the last few weeks, his research is actually pretty solid and with the stellar team behind this up and coming privacy coin, we might see this one competing with its parent coin ZCash over the coming year. Where to buy: Bittrex Price I bought: 0.00376809 Ripple (XRP) Ripple, colloquially referred to as Cripple, is the leading transactional level coin. It is also one of the only coins I know that can announce a partnership with Amex and actually go down in price. WTF… I know you sell the news and all but that is insane. Anyhow, with adoption such as processing payments for Amex, Cripple earnt its place in my already crippled portfolio. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00376809 QTUM (QTUM) QTUM is another DAPPS play (are you spotting a theme here) that has also been growing steadily. With a market cap close to that of Lisk, I’m hoping both of these DAPPS platforms will perform well as the market size of the DAPPS sphere continues to grow. Where to buy: Binance Price I bought: 0.00169597 Neblio (NEBL) Now most of you that have some experience in the crypto sphere are probably doing a double-take right now. Neblio? WTF is Neblio?! Well, remember my first trade in Lisk that I made 2x on? And the OXY ICO, which I also made 2x on? The same guy that recommended these two plays to me recommended Neblio. This is another platform play, rapidly becoming one of my favourite types of coin, and currently has an incredibly low marketcap, all the way down at around $50. I’m expecting Q1 2018 to be a good quarter for Neblio and if my contact turns out to be right with this going to a $1bn market cap, Neblio alone would be worth more than this entire portfolio is today. Where to buy: Cryptopia Price I bought: 0.00060999 With the exception of Lisk, putting together this list now has been a rather depressing experience – almost all of the alts have fallen in value since Bitcoin’s latest bull run, some more than others. It’s like a how-to guide on wrecking yourself in under a week. Luckily for me, this is more of an experiment than my life savings, so I will just see how things pan out over the coming months. Hopefully, my hypothesis will prove to be correct and I will be laughing my way to the bank a year from now (or longer if I decide to HODL until the mewn!). And if it doesn’t work out, hopefully my day trading gains will be enough for me to not be salty over these losses. Now, 18 is a bit of a random number for a list of HODLs. The reasoning being, I want 20 but I can’t quite pick the last two! I have a shortlist of projects I’m interested in and will run a community poll on twitter to help me decide over the next couple of weeks which two additional purchase to make. The shortlist is: Ardor Komodo Salt Golem Augur Storj AdEx Please remember, I’m not advising that anyone do this. These are just the coins that I am personally holding for the long term in more of an experimental manner. Hold at your own risk folks!

titleBitcoin Cash - The true winner in the Segwit Fork?
bodyhttps://youtu.be/95WqK-LQTic What if the real winner from the upcoming Segwit fork isn't 1x or 2x, but Bitcoin Cash? This video looks through the argument that BCC is the true BTC and that some major players in the market have been gearing up for a flippening for a while now. Note that this video was recorded yesterday (check the price on BCC chart) but I agreed with our source to only post today - it looks as though people are already cottoning onto this but not sure that they know the underlying reasons. titleHow to start an Oxycoin delegate pool – zero to hero
bodyI recently became a forging delegate on Oxycoin with my 50% sharing pool, 500bitcoins. For those of you with as much prior experience as me on running a DPOS delegate pool, I thought I would write a guide to take you step-by-step through the entire process. I will write another guide in the future to take you through what DPOS coins are, how they work and what it means to be a delegate but as a lot of people are requesting help setting up an automated pool, I thought I would start with this one. If you find the guide useful, you can support my work in a number of ways: Vote for 500bitcoins as an Oxycoin delegate. I have included my affiliate links for the best VPS’ to set up a node on; if you don’t have a VPS yet you can sue one of these links. You can send a donation to one of my addresses: $OXY - 11835547195018540857X, $BTC – 13iC9jLRwmgMLscpi13PCSd9C3qu6mpGWr There will be a number of steps to this guide so feel free to skip ahead if you’ve already completed any of them: Setting up a VPS Setting up Oxy Wallets as delegates Setting up Oxy-Node Setting up Oxy-Checker Setting up Oxy-Pool Setting up your pool site Step 1 – Setting up a VPS  In order to run all of the scripts listed above, you will need a virtual private server (VPS). The minimum system spec for running an OXY node is 1 CPU core with 2GB of ram, which is unfortunately beyond the specifications on the AWS free tier. The VPS should be running Ubuntu, at least 16.04. As such, here are some options for you (with prices at the time of writing) for setting up a VPS: Digital Ocean - $20/month ($10 discount using my link) - https://m.do.co/c/2e6bde76c026 Interserver - $12/month ($0.01 for first month with my discount code, 500bitcoins) - https://www.interserver.net/vps/?id=436032 Vultr - $10/month - https://www.vultr.com/?ref=7235006 Again, the above are affiliate links, so if you use them, you’ll be supporting 500bitcoins but feel free not to if you don’t like my guide. Once you have chosen your provider, you will need to set up a single Ubuntu instance (this is the equivalent of creating a computer). In order to access this instance in the next steps, you will need to know: The public IP address of your instance; The admin username for your instance (probably root); and The admin password for your instance. Now you will need a way to connect to your VPS. For Mac users, we are lucky as we can do this directly from terminal. If you’re on windows, then go buy a Mac, what are you doing with your life?? Or download Putty, I heard that’s good: http://www.putty.org/. But seriously, Windows has been shit since like post-XP… And if you’re on Linux, why do you need this guide?! Step 2 – Setting up Oxy Wallets as Delegates  I assume that you already have a wallet at wallet.oxycoin.io and that you have some Oxy in your wallet. However, for this process (in order to secure the bulk of your coins, we will suggest a two wallet process as follows: One wallet, with the bulk of your coins in it, from which you will vote for other delegates and to where you will move coins you earn in the pool, after paying out to voters. One wallet, with enough coins in it to register as a delegate (5), from which you will forge and distribute your forge rewards to voters. First of all, you should register both of these wallets as delegates. You should use the following format for naming them: delegatename_voting – the wallet from which you will vote delegatename (or delegatename_pool) – the wallet from which you forge and distribute That way, people will be able to link your vote to your pool delegate if you will be vote swapping. To register as a delegate, click on the delegate tab within the wallet. The process will cost you 5 Oxy on each account. As a final step, on your forging wallet, you should enable your second secret (which will be required for transfers). To do this, click the menu button in the top right of the web wallet, next to send, and select to enable your second secret. Make sure to note it down as otherwise you will not be able to send any coins. Step 3 – Setting up Oxy Node  Ok, so, now things get technical. If you didn’t crash and burn setting up your instance, then it’s time to log in using the details you got above. So, to connect from Terminal, you will need to type the following command: ssh USERNAME@IPADDRESS It will then prompt you for your password. Type it in or copy and paste. You won’t see it but it is there. Just hit enter when you’re done and all going well it will connect you to your VPS. If you’re using putty, I’m afraid you’re on your own for that one step but maybe it’s the same – if a Windows user can confirm in the comments that would be appreciated and I will update the guide. Now we need to setup our server so that it is ready to install Oxy node. For this, type the following commands: apt-get install nano apt-get install git apt-get install ufw apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade ufw allow 10000/tcp ufw allow 10001/tcp ufw allow 22/tcp ufw enable Next we need to make a user where everything else will be installed: adduser YOURUSERNAME adduser YOURUSERNAME sudo sudo visudo add this line at the end under "#includedir /etc/sudoers.d": USERNAME ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL Then, press ctrl+x to exit the document, type Y and hit enter to confirm the changes. Once done, you can exit the server with the command “exit” Next, you’ll need to log in again with the username you created above: ssh USERNAME@IPADDRESS This time, use the password you created above. Now, we need to generate the locale for en_US.UTF-8 by typing the following: sudo locale-gen "en_US.UTF-8" To proceed with installing the mainnet: cd $HOME git clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-node.git cd oxy-node ./oxy_manager.bash install Oxy Node is now installed, but we still need to add your details to the config file as follows: nano config.json Scroll down until you see “forging” and enter the secret (the 12 words you use to login to your Oxy wallet) from the wallet that you have registered as a delegate and from which you will forge. Only enter the first secret. You can then start OXY as follows: ./oxy_manager.bash start ./oxy_manager.bash rebuild And can check the status at any time with this line: ./oxy_manager.bash status Congratulations! You have now setup your very own Oxy-Node. Now let’s put some monitoring in place with Oxy Checker. Step 4 – Setting up Oxy Checker Now we need to set up a way so that you will be alerted if there is anything wrong with your node. For this, we need to install Oxy Checker. In order for Oxy Checker to work, we will first need to install a snapshot of Oxy. For this, we will need the following commands: cd $HOME git clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-snapshot cd oxy-snapshot/ bash oxy-snapshot.sh help Now we need to create a snapshot: bash oxy-snapshot.sh create Once you’ve created a snapshot, we can proceed to install Oxy Checker: cd $HOME sudo apt install php php-cli php-mbstring php-sqlite3 git clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-checker.git Now we need to schedule oxy-checker to run. This is done by editing crontab: nano crontab -e Scroll down to the end of the document and paste in the below line: * * * * * php ~/oxy-checker/checkdelegate.php >> ~/oxy-checker/logs/checkdelegate.log 2>&1 Now close out of the document with ctrl+x, saving with Y+enter. In order to receive mobile notifications about the status of our node, we now need to set up a telegram bot to receive notifications from Oxy Checker. I will assume that you have installed Telegram Messenger on your mobile device (for that time you lost $200 in a PnD scam) but if not, download and install it. And try to avoid joining any PnD groups. Start a new conversation with userinfobot. This will display your user ID. We need to add this to the config file for Oxy-Checker as follows: cd oxy-checker nano config.php Scroll down until you see telegram settings and insert your ID number next to $telegramId as follows: $telegramId = "12345678"; Start a new conversation on telegram with botfather. Type the following: /newbot Enter a name and username for your bot. Botfather will say "Congratulations!" and give you a token number. You need to put this in the variable $telegramApiKey as follows: $telegramApiKey   = "1122334455:AAEhBOweik6ad9r_QXMENQjcrGbqCr4K-bs"; Edit the telegram toggle to “true” Now close out of the document with ctrl+x, saving with Y+enter. Start a conversation with your bot’s username on Telegram to enable communication with it. Well done! Another step down. Now to get your pool setup and working. Step 5 – Setting Up Oxy-Pool Now for the trickier steps. This might take some time. First, you need to navigate to Github and create an account. We are then going to “fork” the Oxy-Pool repository that I used in order to create your own Oxy-Pool and add all of the requisite details. Navigate to this link: https://github.com/500bitcoins/oxy-pool and click on “fork” in the top right. We then need to edit the various documents so that they will work for your pool. First up, click on config.json and then in the edit button. Here you need to add: pubkey: your public key for the wallet from which you will forge, found by going to the wallet, clicking on the menu button in the top right, and then navigating to your profile. The public key is the one underneath the wallet address. percentage: the percentage of forging rewards you’re going to share with voters. minpayout: the minimum amount that must be accrued by a voter before a payout is sent. This should be all for now. You will later be adding your secrets but once the files are deployed to your VPS. Next up, open poollogs.json and add the unixtimestamp of the time when you started your pool (or last payout, if you were previously doing manual payouts) You can find the unixtimstamp using this converter: https://www.unixtimestamp.com/. Now we need to make a couple of changes in the docs folder. First, in app.js, on line 20, you need to replace the username with your delegate name from which you will be forging. Secondly, in index.html, you need to change the title of the pool to whatever you want it to be called. In line 12, you should also add your pool title and the wallet address form which you will be forging. In line 13, add details about your pool sharing. That’s it! Time to deploy the pool to your server and make some final tweaks. Assuming that you are still logged in as your non-root user, you can follow the following commands: cd $HOME git clone -b master https://github.com/GITHUBUSERNAME/oxy-pool.git sudo apt install python3-pip pip3 install requests cd oxy-pool nano config.json Now we need to add your first and second secrets for the forging wallet. When done, Ctrl + x, Y + enter nano autopay.sh add the following to the new file: python3 liskpool.py -y bash payments.sh cp poollogs.json docs/poollogs.json When done, Ctrl + x, Y + enter sudo chmod +x autopay.sh cd $HOME exit Now, login in using your root user. Then: nano crontab -e Crate a new line at the bottom of the file as follows: For Daily Payouts 30 11 * * * cd /home/USER/oxy-pool/ && bash ./autopay.sh (so this would payout every day at 11:30 am server time) For Weekly Payouts 30 11 * * 3 cd /home/YOURUSERNAME/POOLDIRECTORY/ && bash ./autopay.sh (so this would payout every Wednesday at 11:30am server time. You can change the day (number 3) to any day of the week you like; 1-7. Ctrl + x, Y + enter. Now you have setup your very own Oxy Pool that will payout automatically to your voters with no further input. All you will need to do is sweep your excess Oxy (your rewards for running the pool) into your non-forging wallet every now and again, for security reasons and to increase your voting weight in that wallet. The last step is to get your site up and running using nginx. Step 6 – Setting Up Your Site For these purposes, you will need a domain name. If you don’t have one yet, I usually use NameSilo. This is my referral link: https://www.namesilo.com/?rid=5181679ys. And if you enter the code 500bitcoins at checkout you will get $1 off your domain name! Ok, now we need to head back over to your server to set up the website. First of all, make sure to log back in with your non-root username if you logged out already. Then, we need to install nginx: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nginx sudo ufw app list sudo ufw allow 'Nginx HTTP' systemctl status nginx You should see that nginx is active and running. Good start! Now we need to setup the site. sudo cp /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-available/YOURDOMAIN.COM sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/YOURDOMAIN.com Change root /var/www/html; to root /home/USERNAME/oxy-pool/docs; Add your domain to the line server_name as follows server_name YOURDOMAIN.COM; Ctrl + x, Y + enter. The logout by navigating to home (cd $HOME) and exiting (exit). Now for the last step, you need to go to your domain providers control panel to edit your DNS records. Simply create a new A record which points to your VPS’ IP Address. Then, you’re done! Wait for your DNS records to update and you should be able to see your delegate site in by typing in your domain name. Congratulations on setting up your Oxycoin sharing pool. Now you need to get out there and promote your pool to get some votes and start forging!

"body": "I recently became a forging delegate on Oxycoin with my 50% sharing pool, 500bitcoins. For those of you with as much prior experience as me on running a DPOS delegate pool, I thought I would write a guide to take you step-by-step through the entire process.\n\nI will write another guide in the future to take you through what DPOS coins are, how they work and what it means to be a delegate but as a lot of people are requesting help setting up an automated pool, I thought I would start with this one.\n\nIf you find the guide useful, you can support my work in a number of ways:\n\nVote for 500bitcoins as an Oxycoin delegate.\nI have included my affiliate links for the best VPS’ to set up a node on; if you don’t have a VPS yet you can sue one of these links.\nYou can send a donation to one of my addresses: $OXY - 11835547195018540857X, $BTC – 13iC9jLRwmgMLscpi13PCSd9C3qu6mpGWr\nThere will be a number of steps to this guide so feel free to skip ahead if you’ve already completed any of them:\n\nSetting up a VPS\nSetting up Oxy Wallets as delegates\nSetting up Oxy-Node\nSetting up Oxy-Checker\nSetting up Oxy-Pool\nSetting up your pool site\nStep 1 – Setting up a VPS\n\n In order to run all of the scripts listed above, you will need a virtual private server (VPS). The minimum system spec for running an OXY node is 1 CPU core with 2GB of ram, which is unfortunately beyond the specifications on the AWS free tier. The VPS should be running Ubuntu, at least 16.04. As such, here are some options for you (with prices at the time of writing) for setting up a VPS:\n\nDigital Ocean - $20/month ($10 discount using my link) - https://m.do.co/c/2e6bde76c026\nInterserver - $12/month ($0.01 for first month with my discount code, 500bitcoins) - https://www.interserver.net/vps/?id=436032\nVultr - $10/month - https://www.vultr.com/?ref=7235006\nAgain, the above are affiliate links, so if you use them, you’ll be supporting 500bitcoins but feel free not to if you don’t like my guide.\n\nOnce you have chosen your provider, you will need to set up a single Ubuntu instance (this is the equivalent of creating a computer). In order to access this instance in the next steps, you will need to know:\n\nThe public IP address of your instance;\nThe admin username for your instance (probably root); and\nThe admin password for your instance.\nNow you will need a way to connect to your VPS. For Mac users, we are lucky as we can do this directly from terminal. If you’re on windows, then go buy a Mac, what are you doing with your life?? Or download Putty, I heard that’s good: http://www.putty.org/. But seriously, Windows has been shit since like post-XP… And if you’re on Linux, why do you need this guide?!\n\nStep 2 – Setting up Oxy Wallets as Delegates\n\n I assume that you already have a wallet at wallet.oxycoin.io and that you have some Oxy in your wallet. However, for this process (in order to secure the bulk of your coins, we will suggest a two wallet process as follows:\n\nOne wallet, with the bulk of your coins in it, from which you will vote for other delegates and to where you will move coins you earn in the pool, after paying out to voters.\nOne wallet, with enough coins in it to register as a delegate (5), from which you will forge and distribute your forge rewards to voters.\nFirst of all, you should register both of these wallets as delegates. You should use the following format for naming them:\n\ndelegatename_voting – the wallet from which you will vote\ndelegatename (or delegatename_pool) – the wallet from which you forge and distribute\nThat way, people will be able to link your vote to your pool delegate if you will be vote swapping. To register as a delegate, click on the delegate tab within the wallet. The process will cost you 5 Oxy on each account.\n\nAs a final step, on your forging wallet, you should enable your second secret (which will be required for transfers). To do this, click the menu button in the top right of the web wallet, next to send, and select to enable your second secret. Make sure to note it down as otherwise you will not be able to send any coins.\n\nStep 3 – Setting up Oxy Node\n\n Ok, so, now things get technical. If you didn’t crash and burn setting up your instance, then it’s time to log in using the details you got above. So, to connect from Terminal, you will need to type the following command:\n\nssh USERNAME@IPADDRESS\n\nIt will then prompt you for your password. Type it in or copy and paste. You won’t see it but it is there. Just hit enter when you’re done and all going well it will connect you to your VPS. If you’re using putty, I’m afraid you’re on your own for that one step but maybe it’s the same – if a Windows user can confirm in the comments that would be appreciated and I will update the guide.\n\nNow we need to setup our server so that it is ready to install Oxy node. For this, type the following commands:\n\napt-get install nano\n\napt-get install git\n\napt-get install ufw\n\napt-get update\n\napt-get upgrade\n\napt-get dist-upgrade\n\nufw allow 10000/tcp\n\nufw allow 10001/tcp\n\nufw allow 22/tcp\n\nufw enable\n\nNext we need to make a user where everything else will be installed:\n\nadduser YOURUSERNAME\n\nadduser YOURUSERNAME sudo\n\nsudo visudo\n\nadd this line at the end under \"#includedir /etc/sudoers.d\":\n\nUSERNAME ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL\n\nThen, press ctrl+x to exit the document, type Y and hit enter to confirm the changes.\n\nOnce done, you can exit the server with the command “exit”\n\nNext, you’ll need to log in again with the username you created above:\n\nssh USERNAME@IPADDRESS\n\nThis time, use the password you created above.\n\nNow, we need to generate the locale for en_US.UTF-8 by typing the following:\n\nsudo locale-gen \"en_US.UTF-8\"\n\nTo proceed with installing the mainnet:\n\ncd $HOME\n\ngit clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-node.git\n\ncd oxy-node\n\n./oxy_manager.bash install\n\nOxy Node is now installed, but we still need to add your details to the config file as follows:\n\nnano config.json\n\nScroll down until you see “forging” and enter the secret (the 12 words you use to login to your Oxy wallet) from the wallet that you have registered as a delegate and from which you will forge. Only enter the first secret.\n\nYou can then start OXY as follows:\n\n./oxy_manager.bash start\n\n./oxy_manager.bash rebuild\n\nAnd can check the status at any time with this line:\n\n./oxy_manager.bash status\n\nCongratulations! You have now setup your very own Oxy-Node. Now let’s put some monitoring in place with Oxy Checker.\n\nStep 4 – Setting up Oxy Checker\n\nNow we need to set up a way so that you will be alerted if there is anything wrong with your node. For this, we need to install Oxy Checker.\n\nIn order for Oxy Checker to work, we will first need to install a snapshot of Oxy. For this, we will need the following commands:\n\ncd $HOME\n\ngit clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-snapshot\n\ncd oxy-snapshot/\n\nbash oxy-snapshot.sh help\n\nNow we need to create a snapshot:\n\nbash oxy-snapshot.sh create\n\nOnce you’ve created a snapshot, we can proceed to install Oxy Checker:\n\ncd $HOME\n\nsudo apt install php php-cli php-mbstring php-sqlite3\n\ngit clone https://github.com/Oxycoin/oxy-checker.git\n\nNow we need to schedule oxy-checker to run. This is done by editing crontab:\n\nnano crontab -e\n\nScroll down to the end of the document and paste in the below line:\n\n* * * * * php ~/oxy-checker/checkdelegate.php >> ~/oxy-checker/logs/checkdelegate.log 2>&1\n\nNow close out of the document with ctrl+x, saving with Y+enter.\n\nIn order to receive mobile notifications about the status of our node, we now need to set up a telegram bot to receive notifications from Oxy Checker. I will assume that you have installed Telegram Messenger on your mobile device (for that time you lost $200 in a PnD scam) but if not, download and install it. And try to avoid joining any PnD groups.\n\nStart a new conversation with userinfobot. This will display your user ID. We need to add this to the config file for Oxy-Checker as follows:\n\ncd oxy-checker\n\nnano config.php\n\nScroll down until you see telegram settings and insert your ID number next to $telegramId as follows:\n\n$telegramId = \"12345678\";\n\nStart a new conversation on telegram with botfather. Type the following:\n\n/newbot\n\nEnter a name and username for your bot. Botfather will say \"Congratulations!\" and give you a token number. You need to put this in the variable $telegramApiKey as follows:\n\n$telegramApiKey   = \"1122334455:AAEhBOweik6ad9r_QXMENQjcrGbqCr4K-bs\";\n\nEdit the telegram toggle to “true”\n\nNow close out of the document with ctrl+x, saving with Y+enter.\n\nStart a conversation with your bot’s username on Telegram to enable communication with it.\n\nWell done! Another step down. Now to get your pool setup and working.\n\nStep 5 – Setting Up Oxy-Pool\n\nNow for the trickier steps. This might take some time. First, you need to navigate to Github and create an account. We are then going to “fork” the Oxy-Pool repository that I used in order to create your own Oxy-Pool and add all of the requisite details.\n\nNavigate to this link: https://github.com/500bitcoins/oxy-pool and click on “fork” in the top right. Then:\n\nnano crontab -e\n\nCrate a new line at the bottom of the file as follows:\n\nFor Daily Payouts\n\n30 11 * * * cd /home/USER/oxy-pool/ && bash ./autopay.sh\n\n(so this would payout every day at 11:30 am server time)\n\nFor Weekly Payouts\n\n30 11 * * 3 cd /home/YOURUSERNAME/POOLDIRECTORY/ && bash ./autopay.sh\n\n(so this would payout every Wednesday at 11:30am server time. titleMy Top 5 Altcoins - 23 September 2017
bodyhttps://youtu.be/nNm8nfEtBTY After exiting most of my previous investments, I wanted to do another video on the coins I'm holding for the next few weeks as we near the end of September. As always, this material is subject to change without notice. This video and post is for information and illustrative purposes only and reflects my personal opinion. It is not, and should not be regarded as “investment advice” or as a “recommendation” regarding a course of action, including without limitation as those terms are used in any applicable law or regulation. Seek a duly licensed professional for investment advice. Lisk First off, we are back to Lisk. After my most recent exit from Lisk I was up 120% from the end of July, selling around 170k Satoshis. I rebought Lisk at just under 150k satoshis and this is, in my opinion, a great long-term hold. However, we are looking in the shorter term here so why buy Lisk right now? Because of the re-branding. It appears that the re-design is almost complete and the re-branding is expected to occur around the end of this month/start of next month. Take a look at what happened to NEO after the rebrand from Antshares and then get excited folks! Edgeless Next up, we have Edgeless. The Edgeless casino will be launching on 28th September to a select group of test users (including yours truly) and I expect EDG to ramp up again as the date draws nearer. Beyond that, once the test is over, the casino will be launching to the public and I expect that EDG will then be a big hit; the casino is a great use case for a coin and I can see mainstream adoption of this project. look at the size of the online gambling industry and Edgeless has the edge on the entire industry! BAT A hold-over from my last list, BAT still looks very promising to me. As we saw the run-up to the announcement of Mercury,  BAT had some great swings from 5k to 6.5k and back again and its now hovering around 5.5k. As we near the Mercury release next month, I think that BAT could ramp up to around 10k, possibly even beyond, which is a great target for a short-term investment. Reddcoin Reddcoin is currently priced as a true shitcoin - hovering around 25-27 satoshis. However, it looks as though the launch od Redd-ID could be on the horizon; if that finally happens, after months of delays, then we could see Reddcoin hitting 1000 satoshis, maybe even more. The potential upside seems to outweigh the downside for me so I'm HODLing and waiting for news! Oxycoin Who hasn't struggled getting FIAT into Crypto? I know for sure that I have! This is one of the problems that Oxycoin plan to solve, using a new DPOS coin. The team has some developers from other successful DPOS coins (look at how well LISK, RISE, SHIFT and ARK have done). A great long term hold, definitiely worth looking into before the ICO finishes on 1 October. title500 Bitcoins Investment Philosophy - How I Make Money Trading Altcoins
bodyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-0o5Jswfrg In this video, we take a look at the reasoning behind the choice of the name 500 bitcoins for this channel. It's not because of my wallet balance, it's because I believe in applying the same principles that made 500 Startups so successful to Altcoin trading. As you will see from the video and the SlideShare that 500 Startups added (link), the idea is quite simple. You don't want to be putting all of your eggs in one basket, and more than that, the more baskets you have, the more chances you have of catching the 50x returns. It's easy to apply the same principles to Altcoin trading, and I apply the following three principles in my trading strategy: Invest a Fixed Amount By investing the same amount into each of the coins you're trading, it balances the risk across your portfolio and makes sure that when you lose, it's not a large chunk of your stack but when you win, it's big enough to grow your entire stack. Now don't get me wrong, I do have large stacks of more stable coins that I plan to hold for a much longer term, but to me, these are more like the bonds of the Crypto world. Steady growers that I feel secure investing in. For my day trading, I like to put the same amount into each of the riskier coins. Invest Broadly I see a lot of people that try and hop from one coin to another, putting their whole stack or close thereto into it, trying to ride a wave and then jumping to the next time. This is a much higher risk and in the long run, seems inevitable to lead to trouble. I prefer to invest in a number of different coins, spreading the risk around. Whilst this also lowers the overall returns, with the volatility in the Cryptomarket you can still see some great returns on your overall stack. Keep Calm and HODL I hear about a lot of people that put 5% or 10% or maybe 20% stop losses on their coins. Whilst this strategy might work for some people, I tend to just hold my coins no matter what. If I count on the fact that a number of my picks are going to result in no return at all, focusing instead on maximising gains on the winning coins, then I can afford to see some of the coins go down in value and essentially write them off. The thing with Crypto though is, it's extremely cyclical. In all likelihood, given time (sometimes a matter of days), that losing coin will come back around and maybe even reach a new ATH. Don't overtrade, just keep calm and HODL. That's it for now guys. If you need to buy some BTC, ETH or LTC, use this link to get an additional $10 with a purchase of $100 or more at Coinbase: https://www.coinbase.com/join/593e4f73a0c14ef414387608 Make sure to subscribe to get all of my latest calls and new direct to your inbox.
