      "body": "I got home from Iraq, but I wasn't truly home.  After almost a month of being on edge and scanning rooftops of pizzarias for snipes there was one night where I found a mixed CD from high school.  I couldn't even remember what was on the damn thing but I plugged in my headphones, loaded it, and waited for something to distract me for what was usually a 3 hour wait to try to sleep for 3 hours before I was awake before everyone and waited for the day to start.\n\nI was greeted with DMX.  I couldn't even contain myself because I thought all my CD's with DMX were stolen when my car was broken in to.  After that I listened to Boyz II Men.  Then Ruff Ryders.  Jadakiss.  I was listening to all my favorites from the late ninties and very early two thousands.  It was so great I smiled like I hadn't for a while.\n\nAnd then I woke up.  I had slept 10 hours.  The first time I had slept over 6 hours in over a year, the first time I slept over 4 since I'd been home.  I was so well rested, all the sore muscles were gone, I had truly been able to achieve a mental peace for the first time since being in Iraq.\n\nMusic gave me peace, and clarity, and calm.",

      "body": "![young pappy.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTEN8atTDSfFUmLLUnCk1Uu4Ata9bieMDS6BYHezzBUC2/young%20pappy.jpg)\n\nThere’s a lot of killing in Chicago recently.\nThe city is at a 20 year high with over 1,000 murders.\nI’m a normal white guy who grew up with hair metal bands like Ratt and Poison.\nWhen I was really rebellious, I listened to NWA and Ice T, probably just like any other middle-class white kid thinking they were tough in the 80’s.\nThere was a certain attitude with rap that you couldn’t get with hard rock or metal.\nIce T and Ice Cube spoke about the hardships on the street, the opposition, the drugs, the sex. . .\nIt seemed more real than buttrockers singing about groupies. . .\nI’m now turning 45 next month.\nAlthough, this isn’t a period of midlife crisis for me, or more of a deep, ageless introspection and questioning the light and darkness of humanity.\nThere is a youthful defiance, almost evil quality to gangsta “drill” rap coming out of Chicago.\nLast month, I came across a rapper named Young Pappy.\nI watched all his rap or songs mesmerized.\nThey were fierce, powerful, almost evil.\nThere was something in him that burned very bright, brighter than Eminem in his day I think. . .\nI was sucked into the money and power.\nThere was no girls in rap songs anymore.\nIt was purely money or death.\nWhy in the hell would I be drawn to this?\nDid it give me back a little vicarious power that I thought I had in my youth?\n \nThis first song was insane, never heard anything like it:\n \nhttps://youtu.be/8iRHmsnBP6E\n\nThere seems to be more intensity between the light and dark forces on this planet.\nIt doesn’t help that I watch the best UFO channel on YouTube, SecureTeam10.\n \nHere’s Illuminati’s Men in Black:\nhttps://youtu.be/FYVeoOWIDb0\n \nIs this world getting crazier?\nOr am I just evolving to where my eyes are opening to the energies that be?\nAnyways, I love music and apparently there is still something inside of me that craves power, even if it is in the bass of the rap song, or Young Pappy and his crew flashing their guns.\nI guess there’s a part of me that wanted to go out fast and hard, like Sid Vicious:\n \n https://youtu.be/R2lilvnx4q0\n \nI walked through the Chelsea hotel one time in NYC, where Sid burnt the room in front of Nancy.\nI think he wanted to kill them both, or he was just high and felt immortal, like Jim Morrison:\n \nhttps://youtu.be/5Ikqs-0pW2Q\n \nAnyways, after a month of having the images of Young Pappy flashing through my mind with this new rap intensity I never heard before, I finally wanted to learn more about him.\nI thought it was odd that all his music was from 2015.\nI finally Googled “What happened to Young Pappy?”\nI felt pretty sad when I realized he was shot down in 2015.\nWell, it makes sense.\nTheir motto was all about killing before getting killed.\nHis intensity allowed him to die fast and hard.\nI miss him, even though we are totally different. . .\nNow, I go back to a regular job and await the next fast flame I can ride on.\n \nWhat has music done for you?",

      "body": "![bust out.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUFWHTXyczTo4BFeEhRAkgCdDxgS5d11WewnZnrZdHXq9/bust%20out.jpg)\n\nMost of us are barely present at our jobs.\nWe daydream all day long about what we could be doing that’s way better than this.\n \nFor Entrepreneurs starting out with a new business at home, a job seems even more ludicrous.\n \nI had to go back to a job four times while getting enough income from my home business.\n \nEvery time I went back, I nearly cried looking at my wife as I left the house in my stupid little work uniform.\n \nI thought, “I’m in my forties, what the hell am I doing?”\n \nEvery time I went back, I swore that the next time I got home I would stay home for good and I would produce as much content as possible, just like the other big internet marketers I looked up to did.\n \nYet again, when I got back home with a little money to start my business up again, and producing more content to attract prospects to me, it just wasn’t enough yet.\n \nI was loan surfing. You know, take out a new loan to pay for an older loan, with an APR of 534% it was impossible to pay down.\n \nI really didn’t know what to do, but at night I had a little “makeshift” shrine down by my bedside under an end table.\n \nI had a picture of Jesus and a picture of the Shawshank Redemption DVD, with Andy and Red on the cover.\n \nEvery night, I would say “Goodnight Red, goodnight Andy” like I was in prison with them and would see them again the next day in the yard.\n \n![shawshank-list.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPXj9AGdrcejW2AhN8WHs3D6WRDvMbK5UU2PEdiPqz53R/shawshank-list.jpg)\n \nIn the morning, I would say “Morning Red, morning Andy” just like their friends said to them.\n \nIn Shawshank, you had nothing but time and routine.\nTime and routine is what kept Andy sane.\nHe was also very tenacious and would send a letter once a week for 6 years to get new books for his prison library from the government.\nIt was also routine that helped him dig that tunnel. . .\nIt was also routine that helped him embezzle money from that crooked warden. . .\nIt was time and routine that eventually freed him. . .\n \nHe didn’t need to fool around and make wine from grape fruit juice in his cell.
