First, you shouldnt have to be at the location itself to put the pin down. The last thing i was thinking was to go to another app and place a pin down for a poliwrath. I knew what intersection i was at, when I came home it would have been great to simply find the location on the map abd place the pin. Secondly, I dont know if thats a reliable spot for Poliwraths to regularly spawn. If i put a pin down there and they never spawn again, Im giving inaccurate info, and someone drove/walked/biked all the way there to be disappointed its not there. There should be a timer on each pin, telling players how recently I got it and 'hey, get there fast it might not be spawning there much longer'. After the timer is up it automatically gets deleted, and if someone else does indeed find one, he/she can put a pin down then. Also, you should be able to delete your pins in case you make a mistake. Who knows how many pins are people trolling others or made a mistake. It would also be great but not super necessary if instead of transferring you to yet another app, it gave you directions within the app already and not going to maps ...More

Few things to know

by Zacty99 So this app is seen as a definite way to find a Pokemon's exact location near you, however, there are a few things you need to realize.

The Pokemon are submitted by people who may or may not have caught them in that area. So there is (at least it seems to be) no way of knowing whether or not the Pokemon is there. However, they, thankfully, added a feature that allows you to choose whether or not the Pokemon can actually be seen there.

Another thing is that Pokemon change spots all the time. They change from different locations at different times of day. The person might of caught a Pokemon at the time and place they say, but that doesn't also mean you will catch the same Pokemon, even if you go around the same time.

With those said, I've used this to look for two Pokemon, as I like to keep the app open just in case, and it worked for one of them. So in that case, I chose yes, that the Pokemon can be found in the location. Mostly, Pokemon will have a 50% chance because around half see the Pokemon and half don't. This is just a thing to keep in mind when hunting.

All in all, it's a great app, and a fantastic concept. Obviously it can use some improvements, but even the Pokemon GO app itself could use them too. Give it some time, and this will be a very useful, maybe even necessary app in your hunt to be the best. ...More

Good start, but it needs improvement

by trexdrew This app definitely has potential but there are a few changes that can make it better.

1.) Time and date stamps dear god please! Seriously put in time and date stamps when someone creates a pin because Day/Night is just not cutting it. Someone could see a rare critter and drive there just to be disappointed because that pin was dropped many hours ago and the Pokémon is long gone.

2.) Let people delete things! If someone messes up and drops a pin in the wrong location they can't change it and that'll lead to other disappointed trainers who might go there and not find it.

3.) Filter menu is so small it's so tedious to scroll. The method of dropping a pin and filtering are both so tedious to scroll all the way down to what you want. Make it more streamlined and user friendly.

4.) I'm not sure if it's possible but let people use their map data on their Pokémon within the game be posted. If you forget to drop a pin at the exact location and get caught in the heat of the moment you can't go back or drop a pin. You have to be right at the spot in order to drop one.

I hope these are simply seen as constructive criticism and not at all angry or anything. This is a great trainer based app and deserves more support and use but without making it better it won't get that way. ...More

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/poke-radar-for-pokemon-go/id1133187993?mt=8&v0=WWW-NAUS-ITSTOP100-FREEAPPS&l=en&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

bodyinteresting post, I think the fame game Pokemon Go only last 1-2 years as mobile games like Clash of Clans ... Because competition in the gaming world is very tight, but if the game dev could work together with a large gaming community might Pokemon Go can last a long time .. Because after a game with no gamer will not be great.

But it’s still Pokémon-related. The app premiered on July 14, but it has become a hit for one, simple reason: it helps Pokémon Go players find the location of characters others have found nearby. “Using Poke Radar for Pokémon Go is extremely simple,” the app’s developer says in describing the app. “You can view all of the nearby Pokémon in your area that have been discovered by your self and other players on the map, along with the times of day they were found.” Get Data Sheet, Fortune’s technology newsletter The app, in other words, makes playing Pokémon Go easier. The idea behind Pokémon Go is for players to walk around town and seek out digital Pokémon wherever they may be hiding. The digital Pokémon are overlaid on the real world using augmented reality, a technology that allows for graphical elements to be displayed over a real-world environment. The game has become an international phenomenon and the most popular mobile video game of all time. It’s also become an obsession for those seeking Pokémon and even prompted one man to quit his day job to become a full-time Pokémon hunter. Poke Radar for Pokémon Go, which was developed by Braydon Batungbacal, and not Niantic Labs, which developed Pokémon Go, takes some of the guesswork and searching out of the game. titleCan Pokémon Go Lead to Bitcoin’s Mass Adoption?
body

Pokémon Go, an augmented reality mobile game, which has been released less than two weeks ago, is quickly turning into a cultural phenomenon. As millions of people are downloading and playing it, a question can be raised: can Pokémon Go be used to improve Bitcoin’s rate of adoption?

Childhood fantasy turned into reality

Pokémon Go makes clever use of a smartphone’s camera and GPS navigation to create an augmented reality environment, and allow its players to catch Pokémon in real-life locations. By tapping into Game Boy nostalgia and fulfilling a fantasy of a world inhabited by real Pokémon, the game has managed to achieve unprecedented success. According to Fortune, as of July 11, 6% of all U.S.-based Android owners were playing Pokémon Go, easily beating such giants as Netflix, Pandora, and Twitter, all just within five days after the app’s release. On the next day, it hit 21 million active users in the US, breaking a previous record of 20 million, held by Candy Crush Saga. On July 15, more than 1 million players were active in the Netherlands, and that’s even without the app being officially released in the country at that time! If the numbers don’t convince you, just watch this video filmed near New York’s Central Park, which shows hundreds of people rushing to a location, where a Vaporeon (one of the rarer Pokémon) has spawned: What makes Pokémon Go especially interesting, is the fact that it’s a completely digital product, which nevertheless has an immense impact on the real world - much like Bitcoin. There are already some people out there, who are using an important concept of the game to their advantage. PokeStops, specific locations in the game, and also in the real world, can be visited by the players, in order to obtain useful in-game items. They refresh every five minutes, and tend to appear near real-life points of interest, like parks, monuments, museums, or, for example, bars and restaurants. There are several examples of people using those to make profit, like this story of a group of kids setting up a lemonade stand near a PokeStop, and enjoying a constant influx of customers.

Where does Bitcoin come in?

You may ask: how can this lead to an increase in Bitcoin’s adoption? The answer is quite simple: PokeStops naturally tend to attract a lot of people, as they are a source of valuable items. If one was to put, for example, a Bitcoin ATM near such spot, it would lead to people naturally bumping into it. This effect can be further increased if the owner of the ATM purchases a Lure Module - another in-game item, which increases the likelihood of Pokémon spawning near PokeStops, and, consequently, attracts even more people to it. But a real revolution could happen if Niantic (the developer of Pokémon Go) would start accepting Bitcoin in the in-game shop. Poké Balls, a device used to capture found Pokémon, are expended each time a new one is caught, and needs to be replenished in order to catch more. One easy way to replenish them is to buy batches of Poké Balls in the in-game shop for real money, which could also be bitcoins. So a PokeStop with a Lure Module placed at it, and a Bitcoin ATM situated nearby could create both the demand and supply for bitcoins at the same time; such a situation could potentially lead to an explosion in the number of new Bitcoin users. What do you think? Is it likely for a company which has already revolutionized one disruptive technology - augmented reality - to harness the potential of Bitcoin?

http://www.woowers.com/2016/07/can-pokemon-go-lead-to-bitcoins-mass.html

\n

\n
http://www.woowers.com/2016/07/can-pokemon-go-lead-to-bitcoins-mass.html
\n
",

titleWelcome To Facebook's Secret Lab For Mobile Device Testing
body

Facebook opened the doors of its Oregon data center to a group of reporters and took them on a tour of the company's secret facility dubbed the Mobile Device Lab. Here, a total of 2,000 mobile devices test Facebook apps, such as Messenger or Instagram, to make sure they run smoothly across gadgets — especially older ones like Google's Nexus 5s or the iPhone 4.

Testing Mobile Apps As a social media pioneer, Facebook has stayed ahead in the mobile-first landscape. Each test device in this secret lab is used to monitor whether Facebook codes are showing up and functioning correctly, apps are not eating into device memory, and battery life is holding up. This is especially crucial since Facebook serves more than 1.6 billion users the world over, across platforms and on a range of devices that — let's face it — might not always be equipped to feature the latest and greatest OS updates and, therefore, the most innovative mobile apps. CT-Scan, the concept behind the mobile device lab, is being polished up by Facebook. Instead of simply simulating a software or testing the OS on a gadget one at a time, the lab runs the updates through multiple on-device testing. "We wouldn't be able to track down a 1 percent performance regression in a simulator," explains Antoine Reversat, a member of the production engineering team at Facebook. Setting Up Devices For Testing The Mobile Device Lab started out as a simple setup (just a "sled" or a "gondola," and later on, a "slatwall" of phones) at the Facebook HQ in Menlo Park. But, over time, as more gadgets were added to the experiment, Facebook had to move the units to its facility in Prineville, Oregon. This is the company's first data center; it not only had enough physical space to house a large array of phones but also had equipment with the necessary brainpower to run the tests. The lab contains 60 servers that each hold 32 devices. To test apps for Android, four Linux-based OCP Leopard servers are operated. iOS apps, on the other hand, are monitored using eight Mac Minis. Reversat explains that any change to an app requires building a new version of it. "We then install it here on one of the devices and check that the change didn't introduce regressions," he says. The process of installing, running then uninstalling an app on each phone is documented: a camera captures all the on-screen activity.

© 2016 Tech Times, All rights reserved.
