As referenced in a previous BTC-USD price analysis, we have continued to test the neckline of a massive, multi-week-long Head-and-Shoulders reversal pattern. At the time of this article, the market is making its second test of the ascending trendline (marked in yellow).&nbsp;</p>\n<p>https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/00Q3bNsWsVUIKvcIKqwnkvo6PS_R1Q9ZTsk3WMPfJcqihyciAxsBoSnBQjwSIaRzBW5MG50N6tSNoc2lc4R0FisyR_iDHJXU8EgD4aZ0hoci6_6Xhh2a2hVT1bhraEaSxr18MwQi</p>\n<p>&nbsp;<em>Figure 1: BTC-USD, 6-hr Candles, Gemini, Head-and-Shoulders Pattern</em>A breakdown of the ascending trendline typically marks a very characteristic, sustained market reversal that, in our case, has a price projection in the upper $1,800 range (see this <a href=\"https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-price-analysis-bear-run-shows-no-decrease-momentum/\">previous analysis</a> for a detailed breakdown of Head-and-Shoulders price target calculation).When confirming the Head-and-Shoulders reversal pattern, key support levels on the way down toward its price projection include the following markers:&nbsp;</p>\n<p>https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/nEcEBLuNX_x_eTLD8yHQImMFf8n-IMrJJXwtfKXZ8XxNovIOEfGlB2GvhMrrQbPQSc93bzmz6I5Zx_yGjaltlxJMMi-yK-HLW8SGJHxXBhWPN3rbVcINzfuQnJs0mwPP5Xh-gQU0</p>\n<p>&nbsp;<em>Figure 2: BTC-USD, 6-hr Candles, GDAX, Key Support Levels</em></p>\n<ol>\n  <li>A break of the ascending trendline is often initially rejected before continuing its trend downward — hence, the multiple attempts to break the trendline. However, typically, a sustained move below this trendline is very likely to continue downward and test the next two support levels.</li>\n  <li>The first attempt to complete the right Shoulder/the first attempt at breaking the ascending trendline was rejected in the form of a Double Bottom Reversal (see this <a href=\"https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-price-analysis-double-bottom-reversal-chases-out-bears/\">previous analysis</a> for details). At the time of this article, we are making a test of the key, pivotal support line that began the Double Bottom Reversal. A breakdown of this support line is one of the first signs that a long-term, sustained bear market is likely.</li>\n  <li>The initial support line that separated the “Head” from the right “Shoulder” is of specific significance because the high volume shows the failed market attempt to rally off the largest drop in price since the high $2,900s.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>When looking at support lines, it’s important to keep in mind that these are not concrete, rigid lines. Rather, they are elastic and should be treated more like “zones” of support, rather than “lines.” One thing to consider when trading the Head-and-Shoulders pattern is that an initial strong move below the neckline is often rejected along a known support line and will lead to a re-test of the neckline from the bottom. A break below the descending trendline support will ultimately become a strong level of resistance.       "body": "<html>\n<p><img src=\"https://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/660/cpsprodpb/14E50/production/_95448558_fgmpicfromnspcc.jpg\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\"/></p>\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Mothers are the \"unseen force\" behind so-called honour-based abuse, inflicting violence on their daughters, a study has found.</strong>Research by Rachael Aplin, a criminologist from Leeds Beckett University, said this was often unrecognised by police.Of the 100 \"honour\" crimes she studied, 49 involved mothers - but this was often not recorded in crime reports.Cases included violence to daughters, sometimes to induce an abortion.She said the focus on any action taken against perpetrators should be on both males and females.Mrs Aplin, a senior lecturer in criminology at the university, is on a career break from her role as a police detective sergeant.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;She said: \"The level of involvement of mothers in these cases was a real surprise, as was the level to which this wasn't acknowledged in police reporting.\"As many victims are children, there is a risk that agencies place them back in their mothers' care, mistakenly believing that this will ensure their protection.\"Law enforcement and social services need to reassess their strategies for dealing with honour-based abuse, taking full account of the role of mothers, to ensure children and young women are not returned to, or remain in, dangerous situations.\"</p>\n<h2>'She would hit me with a rolling pin'</h2>\n<p>\"Sadir\", who was born in Bradford to Afghan parents, was taken into care after being abused by her mother who tried to force her into marriage.Speaking to the BBC, she described her mother as the main perpetrator, saying she was regularly beaten as a child.From the age of nine she was told she could not play out, but had to learn how to cook in order to be \"marriage material\".Now 35, she said: \"I would get physically battered if I didn't cook chapatis or if the chapatis weren't round enough.\"My mum would get the rolling pin out and physically chastise me with it. So she'd punish me and then when Dad came home he'd punish me also because I didn't listen to my mum.\"I felt numb, sore. I was in shock; I couldn't believe she would hit me with a rolling pin, but then after a while you got used to it and it was a normal experience getting hit.\"You wouldn't dare tell anyone you were getting physically chastised at home, you'd just keep it to yourself and go to school and come back.\"At 13 years old, she came home to her own surprise engagement party after her mother had planned for her to marry her adult cousin in Afghanistan, whom she had never met.\"We never used to have guests round so I asked my mum whose party is was and she said 'it's an engagement party'. I said 'well, who's getting married?'. I got a bit excited and she said, 'it's your engagement party, I want you to go upstairs and get dressed'.\"I was presented with a photo of a man, my mum's nephew in Afghanistan. I was supposed to marry this guy. I'd never met him; he was an adult and I was 13, a child.\"From that day on wards I knew I was going to run away.\"&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\"Honour\" abuse is usually associated with women from Muslim, Sikh or Hindu backgrounds and happens when they are seen to have \"shamed\" their community. It can also affect men, with some charities saying male abuse is underreported.In Mrs Aplin's research, the abuse perpetrated by mothers included hitting, kicking and slapping, assault with household objects, cutting off daughters' hair and deception in order to encourage a fleeing victim back home.Other behaviours included threatening to kill the victim or throw them downstairs, bartering to sell them, false imprisonment, emotional blackmail, confiscation of passports, bank cards and mobile phones and emotional blackmail.</p>\n<h2>'Women as suspects'</h2>\n<p>Mrs Alpin said: \"The instinctive reaction from the public and from police officers and social workers is that mothers protect and nurture and love their children. But actually we need to rethink that.\"Mothers are the key perpetrators in abuse against daughters, and this is mostly abuse pre-marriage. So it's not necessarily abuse against wives once they've been forced into marriage.\"Jasvinder Sanghera founded the charity Karma Nirvana to support victims of \"honour\" abuse and forced marriage, which currently receives about 850 calls a month.She said: \"What they need to acknowledge is that when they are risk assessing or investigating cases they have also got to consider women as suspects, so that they are investigating them, they are holding them to account.\"They need to be recognising that the victims are not safe with these females.\"&nbsp;</p>\n</html>",

His country's streets are choked in tear gas. Scenes of his guard beating heads and <a href=\"http://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/22/venezuelan-troops-fire-on-protesters-at-airbase.html\">shooting protesters</a> are lighting up social media. The nation boasting the world's biggest oil reserves is <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-20/venezuela-looks-abroad-for-fuel-as-domestic-production-wanes\">importing crude</a>, <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-15/to-avert-default-venezuela-turns-to-its-secretive-bag-of-tricks\">skirting default</a> and <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2017-venezuela-maduro-opposition/\">bleeding regime loyalists</a>. And yet Maduro is reveling in a self-proclaimed \"diplomatic victory.\"He has a point. On June 22, at the Organization of American States 47th general assembly in Cancun, Venezuela's envoys <a href=\"https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/venezuela-crisis-tops-agenda-for-americas-summit-in-mexico/2017/06/19/baec0a56-5505-11e7-840b-512026319da7_story.html?utm_term=.809cfe0cce68\">walked out</a> and still managed to turn back an initiative by regional critics to admonish Maduro for trashing what remains of Venezuelan democracy. Not even the anodyne motion urging the region's ranking authoritarian to \"reconsider\" installing a regime-friendly <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-05-09/why-venezuela-may-get-its-27th-constitution-quicktake-q-a\">constituent assembly</a> to write a Castro-styled constitution passed. And so Latin America's most important diplomatic consort adjourned in a silence that only an autocrat could love. \"Venezuela is still taking advantage of the fact that countries in the region lack the conditions to launch coordinated actions,\" said José Botafogo Gonçalves, a former Brazilian diplomat.What's less clear is whether the silence can last. After all, the allegiance of the bloc of small countries standing between Maduro and censure is anything but sentimental. Though a few bloc members, like Bolivia and Nicaragua, are ideologically aligned with the Bolivarian Republic, most are small Caribbean island and coastal states in Central America, which have been driven by a single-minded objective: cheap oil.&nbsp;Through its Petrocaribe initiative, Venezuela has sold discounted oil to energy-deficient clients, practically giving it away in some cases.&nbsp;Lately, however, that generosity has diminished with Venezuela's economic misfortunes, hastened by tumbling global prices for oil -- the country's only viable source of export revenues. Even Brazil, with a fraction of Venezuela's reserves, now pumps 25 percent <a href=\"https://twitter.com/fmonaldi/status/878995507548442624\">more oil</a>.Plunging oil prices are a double boon to the Caribbean, reducing energy bills and the region's once <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-03/venezuelan-pride-keeps-cheap-oil-flowing-as-economy-collapses\">considerable debt load</a>. Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean's biggest oil importers, managed to <a href=\"http://publications.atlanticcouncil.org/Petrocaribe/\">retire most of their Petrocaribe debts</a>, heavily discounted by the cash-strapped Venezuelan treasury.In that sense, Petrocaribe's decline ought to be an opportunity for hemispheric diplomacy. Put bluntly, why couldn't leaders in the Americas simply buy out Venezuela's position and turn reluctant client states with competing aid and comfort? \"Latin America conceivably could change at least half the votes in the OAS with offers of help and diplomatic pressure,\" said Jaime Aparicio Otero, Bolivia's former ambassador to Washington. \"It's not a lot of money, but you'd need to line up other more powerful countries in the region.\"Here's where the diplomatic game board gets tricky. Wooing Venezuela's clients was part of the logic behind the Obama administration's 2015 <a href=\"https://www.ustda.gov/program/regions/latin-america-and-caribbean/ceff-cca\">clean-energy initiative</a>. But even that help came with a caveat. \"We're not going to be able to substitute American oil for Venezuelan oil,\" then deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes <a href=\"https://www.jsg.utexas.edu/lacp/2015/12/u-s-warns-that-if-venezuela-ends-oil-subsidy-for-caribbean-it-cant-step-in/\">advised</a>. Given Washington's current Latin America attention deficit -- after <a href=\"http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/article141338283.html\">calling out</a> Venezuela's excesses, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson didn't show up in Cancun -- that prognosis is unlikely to change soon. \"We shouldn't expect reasonable, pondered much less pacifying measures from the current U.S. government,\" said Brazil's Botafogo Gonçalves. \"And it's unlikely we'll see courageous moves or financial assistance from Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, which are facing complicated political and economic crises of their own.\"The U.S. absence could actually be a blessing in disguise for regional leaders, who have always flinched at gringo intromission below the Florida Straits. As Washington has hung back, OAS general secretary Luis Almagro has become more outspoken, even <a href=\"http://www.oas.org/en/media_center/press_release.asp?sCodigo=S-016/17\">pledging to resign</a> if Venezuela scrapped the constituent assembly, freed political prisoners and held free elections.Almagro is not alone. Twenty nations backed the motion urging Maduro to scrap the constituent assembly, or just three votes short of the two-thirds majority required. \"This was the largest number of countries ever to align against Venezuela, and it included nations that until now were quite favorable to the regime or unwilling to confront it, like Mexico and Brazil,\" said Javier Corrales, a political scientist at Amherst College. \"The trend against Venezuela is favorable.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Consider Belize, a Petrocaribe client that nonetheless voted in favor of outside mediation of the Venezuela crisis and, tellingly, abstained on the motion for Maduro to drop attempts to rewrite the constitution. \"We in Belize need to consider our position very carefully so that we don't at the first sign of trouble turn our back on our friends, but also that nobody takes us for granted in feeling that no matter what, Belize will support any and all actions of the Venezuela government, no,\" Prime Minister Dean Barrow <a href=\"http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=40325\">told</a> the local press last month.Venezuela's opposition may be less impressed.
