| title | Expanding The dWeb |
| body | dWeb's network allows peers to communicate over what are known as "revelation" servers. These revelation servers act as towers for peers to communicate over and also hold the dDNS records related to all dWeb-based datasets (websites and web applications). dWeb's networking libraries known as "flockcore" libraries, power dWeb's revelation server framework, allowing dWeb-based peers to efficiently share data between each other. ### Example Bob<-->dSite Broadcaster<-->Revelation Server<-->dApp (Broadcaster)<-->Alice It's important that people within the dWeb community continue to grow dWeb's global network of revelation servers, by adding more infrastructure to the network. The [@flockcore/presets](https://github.com/flockcore/presets) library lists the revelation servers that are currently being provided by community members but more will be needed in the near future, to expand the network and further decentralize it over time. dWeb community members can donate a $5/month server to the network, by launching one via Digital Ocean, Scaleway, Linode, AWS, Rackspace, Vultr, LightSail or via another cloud provider. We've made the process of launching a revelation server easy and need as much help as we can get, expanding the "People's Internet". ### How Do I Benefit While there isn't a way to financially benefit from launching a revelation server, the general public will benefit from it greatly. In fact, the benefits far outway the costs. Relying on donors around the world to host encrypted "towers", who watch everything we do. Giving developers a way to build powerful websites and web applications is just another advantage. We're also listing our contributors on the [Distributed Web GitHub](https://github.com/distributedweb), as well as the dWeb website. ### What Are The Risks? There are no risks. I know what you're thinking though. What if someone creates a website for illegal activities and your revelation server somehow connects with this website, you're going to get in trouble right? Absolutely not. Think of a revelation server as a vault of keys, where each dataset has a key for locating it on the network (a revelation key) and the keys that identify the peers who are replicating and distributing it over the network. That's it! Browsers like dBrowser, know how to use a revelation server to find datasets via the peers that host them. In other words, revelation servers don't host datasets or even touch datasets, they simply store the keys associated with them. ### How Do I Launch One? Using NPM, you can install a revelation server with one command, as long as you're connected to dWeb's public NPM repository (npm.dwebs.io). Installing is as easy as running ```npm install -g @flockcore/server``` and running the ```ddns``` utility that is now installed on the server by running ```ddns listen --port=6620```. To make sure the ```ddns``` utility is continuously running, you will need to run it within ```screen``` mode. Once you have launched a node, let the [dWeb Community](https://t.me/distributedweb) know via the Telegram [room](https://t.me/distributedweb). We'd love to add you to the project as a contributor and expand the network for everybody while we're at it. ### Thanks To dWeb's Supporters Without support, the dWeb will never come to fruition. The dWeb is being built by the people and for the people. There is no other way to build a truly decentralized web. If we are going to build a powerful network that benefits us all, we have to start somewhere. We believe that through the efforts of the dWeb community, we can build a massive decentralized web, where everyone can benefit in the end. Thanks to all of you who have already come forward to support the community's efforts on this project. We truly appreciate your contribution and look forward to making something special out of it. ### Today's dWeb Update I know we have been silent, as many things are rolling out. When we go silent many things are happening. Here is a few notes on the happenings: - We're currently working on fixing some bugs within the NPM server. - The dWeb is live, as all 5 of our current revelation servers, as well as 2 bootstrap servers (which I'll explain in a different post) are running nicely. - The dWeb website is nearing completion, as many websites are down like dDrive and others. We should have those up and running in a few days. It has been quite an effort from the community. Folks can access the current website at [https://dwebs.io](https://dwebs.io). - dWeb isn't a business, this is just a project that a bunch of people have come together to launch. Every day there is something new, as well as new people contributing to its overall foundation. - dWeb is working alongside the [Arisen](https://steemit.com/@arisenio) blockchain that is also launching in the next few weeks, to form the only completely decentralized web out there. - We hope to have [dBrowser](https://github.com/dbrowser/releases) 1.7.5 released in the coming days. NOTE: There are many websites on the dWeb homepage that are down but should be up in the next few days. We're currently working on them actively and finalizing some things before they go live. We don't need any legal issues ;). Thanks to you all for all the efforts you guys have been putting in. For all of you just coming across the Distributed Webs Project, please don't forget to share it with your friends! Jared Rice Sr. dWeb Core Developer |

| title | dAppDB & dDatabase Whitepapers Launched |
| body | We have been hard at work authoring whitepapers on all of dWeb's P2P components. A few weeks ago, we released the first initial version of dWeb's whitepaper [https://github.com/distributedweb/whitepaper](https://github.com/distributedweb/whitepaper/), to kick things off and today, we're debuting two other whitepapers. Below is a short explanation for both the dDatabase and dAppDB whitepapers. ### dDatabase Whitepaper dDatabase's protocol allows for much of the dWeb to function the way it does. In fact, many of dWeb's components are built upon dDatabase's abstraction layer. dDatabase feeds are used by dDrive to create a virtual file system of folders and files that can be versioned. dDatabase also allowed for the creation of dAppDB's decentralized database management system, since a dAppDB-based database, utilizes dDatabase feeds for its key/value store. To read the full dDatabase Whitepaper, please go to: [https://github.com/distributedweb/ddatabase-whitepaper](https://github.com/distributedweb/ddatabase-whitepaper) ### dAppDB Whitepaper dAppDB brings a truly decentralized database management system (dDBMS) that allows for the creation of distributed key/value stores. dAppDB-based databases are built on top of dDatabase-based feeds, that ultimately utilize the dDatabase protocol. This brings to life one of the most important components of Web4. dAppDB allows for decentralized applications to store millions of records, within a single database, without any performance bottlenecks. It also includes an JavaScript-based API for bringing to life powerful decentralized applications that operates fully without a blockchain. While decentralized applications are even more powerful with the integration of blockchains, dAppDB allows for dApp developers to push much of their dApp's data off-chain, as they already do with a dApp's files by utilizing dDrive (P2P content-addressable storage). To read the full whitepaper, please go to: [https://github.com/distributedweb/dappdb-whitepaper](https://github.com/distributedweb/dappdb-whitepaper) ### Stay Tuned We're working around the clock to bring dWeb live. Currently, dWeb's network is up and being tested by our developers. As soon as it is available to the public, we will make the official announcement (which could be any day now). As I mentioned in my last update, if you have an older version of dBrowser or dPack CLI installed, you can use the network as of today. Stay tuned for Monday's update. Join the dWeb community on Telegram [@distributedweb](https://t.me/distributedweb) for community updates and new dWeb projects! **- Jared Rice Sr.** ***dWeb's Lead Developer*** |

| title | dWeb Launch Update (09-12-19) |
| body | I wanted to keep the community updated on our launch progress, as it pertains to the dWeb network. We announced a few weeks ago that dWeb would launch on September 11th, 2019. While we worked hard to make this happen, we barely missed it. The network's core networking systems are now live, which means the dWeb is truly live. There is more work to do though but we're working around the clock to make it happen. Below are a few updates, surrounding the launch of other dWeb-based components, dApps and websites: ### Revelation/Bootstrap Servers Are Live! --------------------------------------------------- Yesterday, we were able to successfully launch our revelation servers: *** - revelation1.dwebs - revelation2.dwebs - revelation3.dwebs - revelation4.dwebs - revelation5.dwebs *** as well as our "Bootstrap" (DHT) servers: *** - bootstrap1.dwebs - bootstrap2.dwebs *** This is the core foundation of the dWeb that will give the network the necessary footing to fully decentralized amongst dWeb's peers over the next few weeks. ### dBrowser dApp / dBrowser Website ------------------------------------------------ dBrowser is ready and has been tested for public usage, although, we won't be releasing it publicly for a few weeks as we finalize the dBrowser website. Some of you already have dBrowser's latest versions (1.75 and 2.0) and if so, can begin using them. For those who are super anxious to use dBrowser, can download the old version (1.0) via GitHub here: https://github.com/dbrowser/dbrowser/ under "releases". Although, version 2.0 has many improvements and will be released in the coming weeks, along with the dBrowser website. ### dWeb Website -------------------- The dWeb website is nearing completion, although, there are a few websites that won't be launching for a few weeks that include dBrowser, dDNS, dPress, dStatus and others. Starting tomorrow, the dWeb website should be accessible through dBrowser at: dweb://dwebs.io. I will have a separate announcement for when the dWeb website goes live over the next day or so (we're working through a few issues). ### dWeb Public NPM Server ------------------------------ Many of you may have heard about how NPM constantly deleted dWeb's libraries from their public repository. For this reason, we launched our own NPM repository and are making it public, so that developers can utilize it when installing dWeb dependencies and CLIs. The NPM server(s) we're running should be launching today and tomorrow. As soon as they launch, I'll be posting an update on how to connect to it, via a new Steemit post. ### dStatus ---------- We are in the process of launching dStatus (a decentralized blockchain-less Twitter-like social network) and should be launching its first public/production version over the next few days. ### dPack CLI ------------- As soon as our public NPM server(s) go live, dPack's CLI can be installed on any operating system. dPack CLI is a dWeb-based developer tool (command-line interface), that allows developers to easily create, manage and distribute dSites, dApps and dDrives on the dWeb. ### dDrive CLI ------------- dDrive's CLI should be live from the moment that our public NPM server(s) launch, as well. dDrive's CLI allows developers to create, manage and distribute dDrives on the dWeb. Thanks for continuing to follow our launch of the dWeb. Stay tuned for more updates that are just around the corner. **- Jared Rice Sr.** ***dWeb Project - Lead Developer*** **About dWeb:** dWeb is a new decentralized web protocol, also known as the "Distributed Web". dWeb is a humanitarian effort by many developers in the software community, in an effort to create a completely decentralized internet. dWeb can be used alongside blockchains, to create a truly end-to-end decentralized toolset for developers and experience for users. |

| title | The Dawning of the dWeb |
| body | On the other side of the seemingly innocuous or otherwise beautiful hill of freedom, lurks the distributed web. Slowly making its ascent to the crest, where it will forevermore change the entire web's landscape. Every precious minute, it moves closer and closer towards its inevitable debut, ultimately changing everything in its path. Some people want to Make America Great Again and I can say with certainty that the "dWeb" is at the very essence of that goal. As a community, through all the government's overreach and the hellfire of attempts by the media to assassinate the character of our developers, along with the purpose of what was once known as the AriseBank project, we've birthed something far greater than just a decentralized banking system. It was through the government's seizure of our nearly ten months of software development that helped us understand the importance of a censorship-resistant internet. It was the brutal attack on blockchain innovators across the country that made people like me stand up for what we knew was right, regardless of the fear, uncertainty and doubt that some instigators wanted to pour on top of our fight for change. It was through that fight for change, where we continued to battle forward through the obstacles of the SEC lawsuit, where we ultimately decided that we would hold off on rebuilding AriseBank and would instead find a way to protect all of our future work for the community. Through the blood, sweat and tears, a peer-to-peer web protocol (dWeb), an off-chain decentralized content-addressable storage system (dDrive), an off-chain decentralized domain name system (dNames), a decentralized web browser (dBrowser), an off-chain database management system (dDatabase), an off-chain decentralized web repository (dPack) and a blockchain that you will all soon know as "The Phoenix", have arisen from the ashes. All of these collectively form a toolset for creating fully decentralized websites (dSites) and decentralized web applications (dApps) that can scale the globe, without a single central point of failure. While some blockchains like Ethereum and EOS have nearly accomplished a toolset like this, it lacked many features like a dDBMS (decentralized database management system), as well as several other components that we were FORCED to create, for the survival of our ideas. They say the best ideas were formed in a time of struggle, where necessity was the reason for the innovation that took place. In truth, this is a Cinderella story that no other decentralized software project can claim, although today, as a community -- it is ours to celebrate. This entire movement was brought to life by so many people in the blockchain community, who stood with force and made sure our ideas would see the light of day, when so many others stood in opposition of those ideas. As a result, it's a fresh new start for an internet that has been hampered by censorship, trust issues and regulators. A brand new place where we can gather together to change the world. A place where hosting companies, big tech and governments are unable to control a massive landscape that billions of people spent over two decades architecting the last go around. When you think about it, it truly is time for a new internet that programmatically works for us and not one that MUST work for "them". dWeb is truly peer-to-peer, where dSites and dApps are hosted between peers, rather than in centralized data centers. It's where our hard work, domains and web development can never be seized or taken away by those who are threatened by the existence of game-changing ideas and platforms. It's where the social networks of the future will be built, so that everyone's voices can be heard, rather than just one side of the political aisle. It's where banking, food, healthcare, energy, commerce and telecommunications can forever be built for the people, rather than used as weapons against a society that can't survive without them. It was days like January 26th, 2018 that really put our lack of freedom into perspective for me. Watching many of you calling out the SEC on Twitter for what most of you knew were false allegations, truly brought tears to my eyes. I was awakened by your calls to the government, to give you YOUR bank back. I realized, that the work we were producing was something you truly needed and it was obvious to me that there were those who never wanted you to have it. I haven't stopped working to give you back your bank and then some since that day. Despite all of the threats on my life through various jails, having to eat what looked like dog food in segregation for nearly four months, not being able to see my son for nearly an entire year and having to ultimately keep this vision alive around terrorists, child molesters and murders -- I have pressed forward. I never stopped working for you and I never will. This community is forever my family and I don't care what they say this time... we did it, for the whole world to see. My friends, our vision has arisen, from the bowels of the beast. I just have one simple request. Before we bring back The People's Bank, I'd like to introduce you to "The People's Internet": The dWeb's Whitepaper is now live at https://github.com/distributedweb/whitepaper/ and below is a detailed roadmap of some of our most critical launches as well. These launches have been safely placed in the hands of a governance of 21 individuals (The Phoenix Governance) that I hand-selected long ago to safeguard our efforts. All of these launches will happen over the next few months, regardless of my status. I have worked hard to see to it, that our vision was protected and that it would ultimately live on forever. Thanks for sticking around and believing in me. I love you all. Stay tuned for some awesome updates. I can't wait to show you what we've been working on. \n\nIt was days like January 26th, 2018 that really put our lack of freedom into perspective for me. \n\nMy friends, our vision has arisen, from the bowels of the beast. I just have one simple request. Before we bring back The People's Bank, I'd like to introduce you to \"The People's Internet\":\n\nThe dWeb's Whitepaper is now live at https://github.com/distributedweb/whitepaper/ and below is a detailed roadmap of some of our most critical launches as well. \n\nThanks for sticking around and believing in me. I love you all. Stay tuned for some awesome updates. I can't wait to show you what we've been working on. \n\nSincerely,\nJared Rice Sr.\n\n===================\ndWeb Official Roadmap\n===================\nAugust 30th, 2019 - Development Begins on dMesh\nAugust 30th, 2019 - dWeb Whitepaper Released\nSeptember 6th, 2019 - dWeb Website Launch\nSeptember 6th, 2019 - Launch of dBrowser, dPack, dNames, dPay, dSeek, dDrive, dDatabase, dSocial, dSite and other dWeb-affiliated projects and websites.\nSeptember 11th, 2019 - Public Launch of dWeb and dBrowser \nSeptember 12th, 2019 - Launch of dPack developer tools\nSeptember 14th, 2019 - Launch of dPress (Decentralized content management system {CMS})\nSeptember 15th, 2019 - Launch of dStatus (Decentralized social network {Like Twitter})\nSeptember 16th, 2019 - Launch of dWeb University (Developer documentation)\nSeptember 17th, 2019 - Development Begins on dHosting\nSeptember 18th, 2019 - Release of Phoenix Whitepaper\nSeptember 19th, 2019 - Distribution of RSN to Original Arise Contributors (Via BitShares)\nSeptember 20th, 2019 - Launch of Phoenix Network \nSeptember 22nd, 2019 - Launch of Phoenix Blockchain Explorer\nSeptember 25th, 2019 - Launch of Phoenix Developer Tools \nSeptember 28th, 2019 - Phoenix Global Air Drop Begins (Free Air Drop)\nOctober 1st, 2019 - Launch of Phoenix Desktop Wallet",
