titlePower to Face Your Giants
bodyHow you and I face our giants by using the tactics that the lord gave to david POWER TO FACE YOUR GIANTS” 1Sa 17:1 Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle and were assembled at Socoh, which belongs to Judah, and encamped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephes-dammim. 1Sa 17:2 Saul and the men of Israel were encamped in the Valley of Elah and drew up in battle array against the Philistines. 1Sa 17:4 And a champion went out of the camp of the Philistines named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span [almost ten feet]. 1Sa 17:32 David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of this Philistine; your servant will go out and fight with him. WHAT ARE THE GIANTS THAT YOU ARE FACING TODAY? • UNEMPLOYMENT • DEBT • DESEASES • DEPRESSION • DANGER • ABANDONMENT • ABUSE • TRAGEDY • BILLS • WEAKNESSES • REJECTION • BROKEN RELATIONSHIP • INABILITY • ADDICTION • HABBITS • TEMPTATIONS • DISCRIMINATION • FEAR • PAST FAILURES • DISCOURAGEMENT • ANGER DO YOU HEAR YOUR GIANTS SHOUTING? • You are not qualified for that job! • You are not good enough! • You can’t pay your bills! • You can’t save your marriage! • You are losing your kids! • You cannot stop your vices! • you can’t refuse pornography! • You can’t stop your forbidden relationship • You can’t shake your past failures • You don’t have a bright future! • Your life is a mistake! Stand up now and face your giants by the same tactics that God has given to David! David taught us how to face our own giants. Now, are you ready????? • To say goodbye to defeat and start victorious life with God? Are you ready????? • To discover on how to face the giant challenges that we are facing today? Are you ready???? • To know the weapons that God prepares for us and claim the victory? Are you ready??? • To join the battlefield called life and be confident of God’s presence? Are you ready??? • To cut off the enemies head and overcome totally all the deception of the devil in your lives? Are you ready???? I. PLUG IN TO THE SOURCE OF POWER – v 37 1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you. David did not say the he delivered his flocks from the lion and bear. But he Said, “THE LORD WHO DELIVERED ME”. The Lord is the source of David’s power. All our electronics appliances will be useless unless connected to the source of electrical power. Our life is also useless if not connected to the source of our power no other than God. God’s people in the bible had been empowered by God through the outpouring of his anointing power THE EMPOWERMENT OF SAUL: 1Sa 10:1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, Has not the LORD anointed you leader over his inheritance? 1Sa 10:6 The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. Later, this anointing power of God to Saul had been forfeited due to deliberate commission of sin against God. 1Sa 16:1 The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? 1Sa 16:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him. THE EMPOWERMENT OF DAVID: 1Sa 16:13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power… 1Sa 18:14 In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him. THE EMPOWERMENT OF CHRISTIANS: Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Paul testified: 1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. II. CHOOSE THE RIGHT WEAPONS – vs 38-40 1. The Stone of The Past 1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. 1Ch 16:12 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, 2. The Stone of Prayer 1Sa 30:6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God. Psa 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psa 59:16 But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you…” Transition: Invite God’s help. Pick up the stone of prayer. And don’t neglect… 3. The Stone of Priority 1Sa 17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand…., that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 1Sa 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’S, and He will give you into our hands." Remember your highest priority: God’s reputation. David saw Goliath as a chance for God to show off! Did David know he would exit the battle alive? No. But he was willing to give his life for the reputation of God. Your Illness is God’s chance to show His healing power. Your sin is God’s opportunity to showcase His grace. Your struggling marriage can billboard God’s power. See your struggle as God’s canvas. On it he will paint his multicolored supremacy. Transition: Announce God’s name and then reach for… 4. The Stone of PASSION 1Sa 17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine 1Sa 17:48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. Who bet on David? Who put money on the kid from Bethlehem? Not the Philistines. Not the Hebrews. Not David’s siblings or David’s king. But God did. David ran toward his giant. Do the same! Transition: Remember; take up the stone of passion. There remains one more stone. It is the … 5. The Stone of Persistence Why did David picked up 5 stones? Could it be because Goliath had four relatives the size of Kingkong. Imitate him. Never give up. One prayer might not be enough. One apology might not do it. You may get knocked down a time or two…but don’t quit. Keep loading the rocks. Keep swinging the sling. Gen 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me. (Jacob) III. KEEP YOUR EYES ON FOCUS– vs 41-47 1Sa 17:47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands. • Do not be disturbed by the giant 1Sa 17:26 David asked the men standing near him,….Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God? 1Sa 17:32 David said to Saul, Let no-one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him. 1Sa 17:45 David said to the Philistine, You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. • Do not be discouraged by the detractors 1Sa 17:28 When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle. 1Sa 17:30 He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before. 1Sa 17:33 Saul replied, You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth. 1Sa 17:36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. • Focus on God 1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine…. 1Sa 17:46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me….and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 1Sa 17:47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands. Listing hurts won’t heal them. Itemizing problems won’t solve them. Categorizing rejections won’t remove them. David removed the giant because he emphasized the Lord. IV. SEIZE DIVINE OPPORTUNITY – vs 48-50 1Sa 17:48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly towards the battle line to meet him. 1Sa 17:49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. Why these list of would be volunteer did not fight Goliath? 1. Eliab - David was not even included to the enlisted men when he killed Goliath. God can use un-ordained layman to do great things for God if He will trust God. 2. Saul - Leaders by position will hide when problem comes. But anointed leaders will see giant problem as an opportunity to show the power of God. 3. Saul - When you grieve God and you cause Him to leave, you cannot fight the enemies easily like what you did before. 4. Jonathan – There is wisdom in keeping silent and waiting for God to move than to make a haste-fight without God’s leading 5. David – The outcome of the battle always depend on whose side God is belong. One plus God will surely become the winner. V. CUT OFF THE ENEMY’S HEAD –v 51 1Sa 17:51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. Now, are you ready?????\n• To say goodbye to defeat and start victorious life with God? Are you ready?????\n• To discover on how to face the giant challenges that we are facing today? Are you ready????\n• To know the weapons that God prepares for us and claim the victory? Are you ready???\n• To join the battlefield called life and be confident of God’s presence? Are you ready???\n• To cut off the enemies head and overcome totally all the deception of the devil in your lives? Are you ready????\nI. PLUG IN TO THE SOURCE OF POWER – v 37\n1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Saul said to David, Go, and the LORD be with you.\nDavid did not say the he delivered his flocks from the lion and bear. But he Said, “THE LORD WHO DELIVERED ME”. The Lord is the source of David’s power. All our electronics appliances will be useless unless connected to the source of electrical power. Our life is also useless if not connected to the source of our power no other than God.\nGod’s people in the bible had been empowered by God through the outpouring of his anointing power\nTHE EMPOWERMENT OF SAUL:\n1Sa 10:1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, Has not the LORD anointed you leader over his inheritance?\n1Sa 10:6 The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.\nLater, this anointing power of God to Saul had been forfeited due to deliberate commission of sin against God.\n1Sa 16:1 The LORD said to Samuel, \"How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel?\n1Sa 16:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.\nTHE EMPOWERMENT OF DAVID:\n1Sa 16:13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power…\n1Sa 18:14 In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.\nTHE EMPOWERMENT OF CHRISTIANS:\nAct 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.\nPaul testified:\n1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man’s\nwisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:\n1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.\nII. CHOOSE THE RIGHT WEAPONS – vs 38-40\n1. The Stone of The Past\n1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.\n1Ch 16:12 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,\n2. The Stone of Prayer\n1Sa 30:6 David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.\nPsa 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.\nPsa 59:16 But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.\nIsaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you…”\nTransition: Invite God’s help. Pick up the stone of prayer. And don’t neglect…\n3. The Stone of Priority\n1Sa 17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand…., that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.\n1Sa 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’S, and He will give you into our hands.\"\nRemember your highest priority: God’s reputation. David saw Goliath as a chance for God to show off! Did David know he would exit the battle alive? No. But he was willing to give his life for the reputation of God.\nYour Illness is God’s chance to show His healing power. Your sin is God’s opportunity to showcase His grace. Your struggling marriage can billboard God’s power.\nSee your struggle as God’s canvas. On it he will paint his multicolored supremacy.\nTransition: Announce God’s name and then reach for…\n4. The Stone of PASSION\n1Sa 17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine\n1Sa 17:48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.\nWho bet on David? Who put money on the kid from Bethlehem? Not the Philistines. Not the Hebrews. Not David’s siblings or David’s king. But God did.\nDavid ran toward his giant. Do the same!\nTransition: Remember; take up the stone of passion. There remains one more stone. It is the …\n5. The Stone of Persistence\nWhy did David picked up 5 stones? Could it be because Goliath had four relatives the size of Kingkong. Imitate him. Never give up. One prayer might not be enough. One apology might not do it. You may\nget knocked down a time or two…but don’t quit. Keep loading the rocks. Keep swinging the sling.\nGen 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me. (Jacob)\nIII. KEEP YOUR EYES ON FOCUS– vs 41-47\n1Sa 17:47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.\n• Do not be disturbed by the giant\n1Sa 17:26 David asked the men standing near him,….Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?\n1Sa 17:32 David said to Saul, Let no-one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.\n1Sa 17:45 David said to the Philistine, You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.\n• Do not be discouraged by the detractors\n1Sa 17:28 When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he\nburned with anger at him and asked, Why have you come down here? And with whom\ndid you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how\nwicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.\n1Sa 17:30 He then turned away to someone else and brought up the same matter, and the men answered him as before.\n1Sa 17:33 Saul replied, You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth.\n1Sa 17:36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.\n• Focus on God\n1Sa 17:37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine….\n1Sa 17:46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me….and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.\n1Sa 17:47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.\nListing hurts won’t heal them. Itemizing problems won’t solve them. Categorizing rejections won’t remove them. David removed the giant because he emphasized the Lord.\nIV. SEIZE DIVINE OPPORTUNITY – vs 48-50\n1Sa 17:48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly towards the\nbattle line to meet him.\n1Sa 17:49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.\nWhy these list of would be volunteer did not fight Goliath?\n1. Eliab - David was not even included to the enlisted men when he killed Goliath. God can use un-ordained layman to do great things for God if He will trust God.\n2. Saul - Leaders by position will hide when problem comes. But anointed leaders will see giant problem as an opportunity to show the power of God.\n3. Saul - When you grieve God and you cause Him to leave, you cannot fight the enemies easily like what you did before.\n4. Jonathan – There is wisdom in keeping silent and waiting for God to move than to make a haste-fight without God’s leading\n5. David – The outcome of the battle always depend on whose side God is belong. One plus God will surely become the winner.\nV. CUT OFF THE ENEMY’S HEAD –v 51\n1Sa 17:51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.\n• Cut off evil communications\n• Cut off elicit relationship\n• Cut off bad habits and vices\n• Cut off pornography\n• Cut off drug addiction\n• Cut off alcoholism\n• Cut off dishonesty\n• Cut off adultery and infidelity\nThe next time the giants shout, you know what to do\n1. Plug in to the source of power\n2. Choose the right weapons\n3. Keep your eyes on the right focus\n4. Seize God’s moment\n5. titleHeart-Breaking Story: Marawi Soldier “Bayot” In Valor, Patriotism Amid Intense Firefight
bodyA different kind of Bayot “Just bomb my location, Sir!” These were the last words of 24-year old Private First Class Dhan Ryan Bayot when he called his commanding officer before he succumbed to death in the hands of the Maute-ISIS terrorists. Bayot’s team--consisting of 9 soldiers from the 51st Infantry Batallion—was stationed in a detachment in Barangay Lilod, Marawi City on the 2nd day of the Marawi siege, May 24. They were dispatched to the said post upon the request of a town mayor for added security as his residence was just above the detachment. Moments later, they were attacked. A survivor said that aside from the shots from both sides of the road, gunfire also came from above. Apparently, the official's house was already overtaken by the terrorists. The soldiers were too surprised that the volley of fire came from all directions. Not long enough, five of his companions were dead. For some reason, three soldiers managed to escape and abandon the post. (It was only learned later that the three were shot just the same, killing one and wounding the two). Now alone and with nary a scratch, he radioed his commanding officer for reinforcement but no one came. A few hours later, he called again. The commanding officer told him that reinforcements attempted twice, but they couldn’t get through as the only passage to him was heavily entrenched by the enemies. This time, sensing that death was more imminent than being rescued, he then gave his coordinates, and requested his commander to bomb his location so the enemies surrounding him will get hit too. “Bombahin nalang ninyo ang location ko Sir!,”(Just bomb my location Sir!) he told his commanding officer. His dead body and of six of his comrades were retrieved on May 28—four days after they were killed. One of those who retrieved his dead body was his father, Sgt. Larry Bayot of the Division Reconnaissance Company of the 1st Infantry Division. His father said that it took four units from different battalions of the Philippine Army to retrieve their bodies given the difficult terrain. He understands now why it was really hard to rescue his son. Surprisingly, the father saw no bullet wounds on his son’s body that might have caused his death. Instead, he saw his son’s heavily deformed face and a deep bolo cut around his neck. Presumably, when he ran out of bullets the terrorists might have taken turns of bashing his face before slashing his neck in an attempt to behead him. Although pained so much for the dastardly manner of his son’s death, the father never showed it. To a soldier, it’s always a ‘do-or-die-but never-question-why’ attitude. The next day, the father brought his son’s body to bury him in the family’s hometown in Barangay Upper Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. On June 2, a day after the burial, President Rodrigo Duterte went to his barangay to personally console him on his loss. The president gave him the posthumous medal for his son, P250 thousand cash, and a pledge to fund for any young surviving family member’s education. “Unsa pa man akong matabang nimo?” (What else do you need that I can be of help?) the President asked Sergeant Bayot. Bayot replied that his 18 year-old youngest son, who is the late PFC Ryan’s younger brother, wants to join the Army too. Maybe you can help him enlist in the army, Bayot told the president. “No, not yet, he has to finish his college first, then after that maybe we can let him enter the army or even the police,” said Duterte. The sergeant relented to his commander-in-chief. Now, he is busy preparing the documents of his dead son while waiting to be called anytime for duty to the 1st infantry Division whose jurisdiction includes Marawi City. His younger children will be off to college. The word bayot in Visayan means gay or coward. But for this particular family and for the neighbors who know them in Upper Pangi, Ipil, the word simply means valor and patriotism.*2![FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTRx2P2kxCvDXYKyZuhW32TWKDFPuTmcCBb2tVR6N4xG5/FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg)![FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTRx2P2kxCvDXYKyZuhW32TWKDFPuTmcCBb2tVR6N4xG5/FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg)

"title": "Heart-Breaking Story: Marawi Soldier “Bayot” In Valor, Patriotism Amid Intense Firefight",
"body": "A different kind of Bayot\n“Just bomb my location, Sir!”\nThese were the last words of 24-year old Private First Class Dhan Ryan Bayot when he called his commanding officer before he succumbed to death in the hands of the Maute-ISIS terrorists.\nBayot’s team--consisting of 9 soldiers from the 51st Infantry Batallion—was stationed in a detachment in Barangay Lilod, Marawi City on the 2nd day of the Marawi siege, May 24. They were dispatched to the said post upon the request of a town mayor for added security as his residence was just above the detachment.\nMoments later, they were attacked. A survivor said that aside from the shots from both sides of the road, gunfire also came from above. Apparently, the official's house was already overtaken by the terrorists. The soldiers were too surprised that the volley of fire came from all directions.\nNot long enough, five of his companions were dead. For some reason, three soldiers managed to escape and abandon the post. (It was only learned later that the three were shot just the same, killing one and wounding the two).\nNow alone and with nary a scratch, he radioed his commanding officer for reinforcement but no one came. A few hours later, he called again. The commanding officer told him that reinforcements attempted twice, but they couldn’t get through as the only passage to him was heavily entrenched by the enemies.\nThis time, sensing that death was more imminent than being rescued, he then gave his coordinates, and requested his commander to bomb his location so the enemies surrounding him will get hit too. “Bombahin nalang ninyo ang location ko Sir!,”(Just bomb my location Sir!) he told his commanding officer.\nHis dead body and of six of his comrades were retrieved on May 28—four days after they were killed.\nOne of those who retrieved his dead body was his father, Sgt. Larry Bayot of the Division Reconnaissance Company of the 1st Infantry Division. His father said that it took four units from different battalions of the Philippine Army to retrieve their bodies given the difficult terrain. He understands now why it was really hard to rescue his son.\nSurprisingly, the father saw no bullet wounds on his son’s body that might have caused his death. Instead, he saw his son’s heavily deformed face and a deep bolo cut around his neck. Presumably, when he ran out of bullets the terrorists might have taken turns of bashing his face before slashing his neck in an attempt to behead him.\nAlthough pained so much for the dastardly manner of his son’s death, the father never showed it. To a soldier, it’s always a ‘do-or-die-but never-question-why’ attitude.\nThe next day, the father brought his son’s body to bury him in the family’s hometown in Barangay Upper Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. On June 2, a day after the burial, President Rodrigo Duterte went to his barangay to personally console him on his loss.\nThe president gave him the posthumous medal for his son, P250 thousand cash, and a pledge to fund for any young surviving family member’s education.\n“Unsa pa man akong matabang nimo?” (What else do you need that I can be of help?) the President asked Sergeant Bayot. titlePower to Face Your Giants
bodyHow you and I face our giants by using the tactics that the lord gave to david POWER TO FACE YOUR GIANTS” 1Sa 17:1 Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle and were assembled at Socoh, which belongs to Judah, and encamped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephes-dammim. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. • Cut off evil communications • Cut off elicit relationship • Cut off bad habits and vices • Cut off pornography • Cut off drug addiction • Cut off alcoholism • Cut off dishonesty • Cut off adultery and infidelity The next time the giants shout, you know what to do 1. Plug in to the source of power 2. Choose the right weapons 3. Keep your eyes on the right focus 4. Seize God’s moment 5. (Jacob)\nIII. titleHeart-Breaking Story: Marawi Soldier “Bayot” In Valor, Patriotism Amid Intense Firefight
bodyA different kind of Bayot “Just bomb my location, Sir!” These were the last words of 24-year old Private First Class Dhan Ryan Bayot when he called his commanding officer before he succumbed to death in the hands of the Maute-ISIS terrorists. But for this particular family and for the neighbors who know them in Upper Pangi, Ipil, the word simply means valor and patriotism.*2![FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTRx2P2kxCvDXYKyZuhW32TWKDFPuTmcCBb2tVR6N4xG5/FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg)![FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmTRx2P2kxCvDXYKyZuhW32TWKDFPuTmcCBb2tVR6N4xG5/FB_IMG_1499847730785.jpg)

titleDuterte: Marawi siege may end soon but ISIS threat will persist
bodyPresident Rodrigo Duterte attends the 10th Listing Anniversary of the Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. at the PSE trading hall in Makati on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. President Rodrigo Duterte said Tuesday that a disastrous siege by Islamic State group-aligned militants of Marawi City may end in 10 to 15 days but warned that the threat posed by the brutal group will continue to plague the country. Duterte said he would try again this week to travel to Marawi city to be with government troops but acknowledged that bad weather and the danger posed by the militants’ deadly firepower have frustrated his travel plans. “I think in 10 to 15 days it’ll already be OK,” Duterte said of the protracted urban battle with the militants, whose supply of weapons had surprised him. “But remember the new scourge is ISIS. It will continue to haunt us,” he said, using another acronym for the Islamic State group, in a speech before business executives at the Philippine Stock Exchange. Duterte said last Friday he would likely extend 60 days of martial law he imposed in Mindanao to deal with the Marawi crisis because the situation remained critical. Hundreds of gunmen who attacked mosque-studded Marawi, a center of Islamic faith in the south of the predominantly Roman Catholic nation, on May 23 are believed to belong to at least four local armed groups that pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and joined in a loose alliance. Several foreign fighters also joined the insurrection. An unspecified number of gunmen are believed to have slipped out of the lakeside city. After 50 days of ground assaults and airstrikes, troops have recaptured most areas of the city, with the death toll recently surpassing 500. Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said 381 militants, 90 soldiers and policemen, and 39 civilians had been killed in the fierce street-to-street fighting. About 300 civilians remain trapped in their homes in areas of fighting were held by the militants, he said. Security officials received intelligence about the planned attack days before the unprecedented Marawi siege unfolded, but they, along with the president, have acknowledged they underestimated the militants’ firepower. “We knew that they were … all of them were there,” Duterte said. “But what I really didn’t know … the large number of firearms … the supply doesn’t end.” The militants’ vast arsenal reflects a failure to address the spread of firearms in the volatile region, where insurgents and armed groups controlled by politicians have long had a presence. “The problem would not have erupted in this magnitude if the proliferation of loose firearms was addressed years earlier,” Padilla said. Duterte has attempted twice to travel to Marawi to join government forces but said Tuesday that heavy rain and the danger posed by the militants have scuttled his plans. In his latest attempt last Friday, the tough-talking president donned a military camouflage uniform and carried an assault rifle. “I was circling Marawi, I could not land. I could not go down nearer because we may get hit by a Barrett caliber 50 by chance,” Duterte said, referring to a powerful machine gun that the militants used. “It’s not braggadocio,” said Duterte, who has backed troops by visiting their camps, the wounded and attended the wakes of slain soldiers. “It’s just that I don’t want to go there when it’s already peaceful.”![duterte-at-PSE-e1499781435750.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmaQJjkYkxZew6ep6e57PKnn7zKEVDroJL84Rb8e2ERWdm/duterte-at-PSE-e1499781435750.jpg)
