bodyOverview of our off season personnel wouldn't be complete without looking at the staff level. I'm just going with the most impactful positions. ## **Pete Carroll - Head Coach** I don't think there's a lot of Seahawks fans that want to see Pete go. Unless there's some random fallout amongst him and management in the coming months, I don't see him going anywhere. There was a scare that John Schneider may be leaving and the whole "Are they a package deal? Does Pete leave Seattle if he can't have John?" Now that Schneider is sticking around I'm not even semi worried. The biggest complaint I may have about Pete is that I don't know why the fuck he hasn't fired Bevell or Cable yet. ## **John Schneider - General Manager** John is a great evaluator of talent. It looks like he'll be sticking around despite a quick scare where it looked like he might be headed to Green Bay. The Seahawks blocked the interview, likely wanting to get some value for him. Green Bay has since hired Brian Gutekunst as their GM, so Schneider's "Dream Job" is off the table. That's really good for us. Some people threw around the name Scot McCloughan because of the monster talent evaluator he's been. Honestly in the event Schneider walks I'd love to see Scot come back. But I'm not asking Schneider to leave. Still, it would be great is Scot McCloughan could be hired on for any sort of talent evaluation role. The biggest complaint I may have about John is that I don't know why the fuck he hasn't fired Bevell or Cable yet. ## **Paul Allen - Owner ** Keep it real, PA. Never sell. #WarAllen The only complaint I may have about PA is that I don't know why the fuck he hasn't fired Bevell or Cable yet. ## **Kris Richard - Defensive Coordinator** Richard received some heat in some games of 2017 due to a couple games. I think that those games are outliers, most of our games were lost by our offense/special teams. Additionally, he was working with an insanely depleted defense. Something like 8/11 starters were out for the second Rams game and Bob's hamstring was hamburger. I think he's a good DC with randomly one of the worst 'prevent defense' schemes the league has ever seen. Our prevent defense is BAD. Our defense will be a marble wall for 50 minutes, then when we start prevent defense we suddenly look like paper. Will he be back? I don't know. He's gotten interest for the coaching job in Indianapolis. The Seahawks expressed interest in Gus Bradley as well. Anticipating Kris Richard's departure? Going to axe him instead of Bevell because of the Houston game/second Rams game? Who knows. We lost the potential of Gus Bradley to the Chargers as he signed a 3 year deal, so I think I'd like Richard to stick around. My biggest complaint about Kris Richard is he hasn't fired- Well, I guess he can't. ## **Darrell Bevell - Offensive Coordinator** Oh gosh. Oh gosh. So Bevell is a really nice guy. Seems like a great human. There's a lot of great humans in the world that aren't getting jobs as OCs because they can't do it. Now, the Bevell hate is kind of split. I think it's important to point some things out. Bevell is not an atrocious OC. He's a mediocre OC that demonstrates moments of atrocity. It's also important to note that when you're averaging a total offense rank of 14.7 (especially considering that's being tipped by a rank 4 outlier year in 2015), your offense is not working out. As a team you want to improve in all areas every season. Have we just accepted that mediocrity is our ceiling? Yes? Ok, well we can't even reach it. To say that our offensive ranks are reflective of what Bevell has given us is giving him a little bit of credit. One thing we know is Wilson's insane ability to extend plays, make something out of nothing, and to become greater the more out of reach a game becomes. It feels like all of our yardage is coming from a play breaking down, Doug, Richardson or Lockett finishing their route and saying "Shit I need to adjust for Russ running for his life," then Russ finds them on the patchwork of a broken play. You're not giving us even mediocrity Bevell, you're giving us rank 28 offense and our QB and receivers are doing things in broken down plays they shouldn't be asked to do. The 2017 season came to the perfect end to get Bevell fired. He went into that last drive knowing a few things: We were moving the ball running a normal offense. Our play makers were coming through. He knew that we were not able to run on obvious running downs. He knew Blair Walsh couldn't be trusted with a 50/50 field goal and that should only be the last resort. So Bevell decides to run the ball three times in a row and kick the field goal instead of continuing the offense that marched the Seahawks down the field that whole drive. Instead of attempting a touchdown to put the game away. This is CHOOSING defeat over victory. He chose the objectively lowest percentage path to victory. If you say "Well he didn't know that, hindsight is 20/20" I'd retort that 100% of the evidence he needed was there. If he couldn't recognize that he CAN'T be an OC. He just can't. Unfortunately it looks like the Seahawks have no intention of making big coaching changes so.. Well I don't know. If your offense is mediocre year after year, it's not working out. If it's not working out, you move on. Regardless of your reasons. 5 years of mediocrity (1 outlier year), you move on. I wish the best for you Bevell, please stop being our OC. We have to try something new. ## **Tom Cable - O-Line/Assistant Head Coach** CAAAAABLLLLLEE!!! CAAAAAAABBBBLLLLLEEEEE!!!!! When are you going to admit that Cable is not the O-Line whisperer it was once believed that he was? You know what changed our run game in 2011? A full year with Marshawn Lynch. It kills me seeing people talk about the 2013 Seahawks O-line like Cable made some beast of a unit. Lynch wasn't **Beast Mode** because of a few huge runs. Lynch was **Beast Mode** because he'd get met by 2 guys 3 yds behind the line of scrimmage and plow them for a 3-4 yard gain. Seriously, subscribe to NFL's gamepass and watch Hawks games from those days. The O-line is terrible. Not as bad as now, but like pretty bad. Our lineman that Cable is allowed to 'develop' seem to be getting worst sans Britt. Penalties seem more common. Blown blocking assignments seem more common. There's starting to be these bizarre plays made by the line... Such as the 5 man cut block (that didn't take a single Titan down), Matt Tobin running a route instead of blocking.. It's just gotten so bad that it's weird now. I don't even know what's happening. *Here are some hilariously bad moments from our O-line: https://www.fieldgulls.com/2017/9/19/16307590/13-clips-that-show-just-how-bad-the-seahawks-offensive-line-is* It's to the point that at WORST you get a O-Line coach that can't develop players, weakens current players fundamentals and discipline, and makes bizarre trick blocking schemes which is EXACTLY what we have now. AT WORST IT'S THE SAME. ## **Carl Smith - Quarterbacks Coach** While I don't know a whole lot about what Carl Smith offers as a QB coach, I have taken notice of fans calling for the Hawks to try and get another one. I think it makes sense to make a change if Russel Wilson and Carl Smith are not jiving, or Russ isn't picking up more from him. Russ is a relatively young QB that has some areas he can improve. Confidence in the pocket, drops his eye level too quickly, sometimes makes errant throws, doesn't always protect the ball the best and such. I'm not gonna call for Carl's job, but for the off season I'd be excited if they made a change here. ## **Conclusion** I think some coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball could be gigantic. We have great play makers. We have massive potential. This current staff just isn't meeting it, and they have not been meeting it for years.

body**What is Gems?** Gems is a decentralized micro task platform. Think about it as a decentralized version of Amazon's Mechanical Turk marketplace (MTurk). **Okay.. What is Amazon's Mechanical Turk marketplace?** MTurk is a marketplace where a company or individual may request a micro task to be performed, offering money for those that complete the requested task. Individuals may then sign up for the marketplace as a part of the workforce and take on requested tasks that they have expertise for. Basically, I have a small task I need done. I put money up in front of a room full of people and those that are qualified to perform the task step up. **Tell me more about these micro tasks.** These micro tasks all have one thing in common: They require human intelligence. If they didn't I could just run a script, or use a program to perform said task. This is why MTurk actually refers to each task as a HIT (Human Intelligence Task). *Examples:* Choose what color the car is in each picture. Categorize picture based on the attitude of the people in the pictures. Fill out a survey on your outlook for the United States. Choose which emotion you associate the following words with. **Before we go on, let's make sure we're clear.** Rodney needs to create a suitable online advertisement for a local burger joint. He wants to know which words/images/colors are met with positivity by the general populous. This will help give him a good idea of what his advertisement should include. To this end, he creates a HIT on MTurk that requests workers match their emotions with a list of words, phrases, colors, and pictures. He offers $0.05 (USD) to whoever completes this task. Sarah, Jane, and Joseph all accept Rodney's task and make their selections. Each of them get paid the $0.05. This is the idea. **So it sounds like MTurk works great...right?** Amazon MTurk does a great job of getting the requesters the labor they need. Amazon MTurk also does a great job at shaving a large portion of the money off the top. The payout made by a requester is charged a 20% fee off the top. If the requester chooses to pay a bonus for exemplary service, this bonus is also subject to the 20% fee. There's a 5% extra fee for the requester asking for workers with a good track record. At best Amazon takes 1/5th of the money off the top. At worst, it's nearly half. Most reports I've read report the average laborer making $5 an hour, with an estimated half of users making below. I've seen reports up to $10 an hour but that seems to be very few and where income tops out. With such a low payout you have to ask yourself, should Amazon be taking so much off the top? Average minimum wage across the United States is $7.25 and hour. Is a job that you can be expected to make below minimum wage really an appealing use of your time? To quote Trent Hamm at thesimpledollar.com: *"If you can't finish a fifty cent task in less than four minutes and move on to the next one, you're earning less than minimum wage at this."* 50 cents every 4 minutes is $7.50 an hour. So without breaks you will be making just over minimum wage at this pace. **Ok so how does Gems solve the pay problem?** Gems does not charge a centralized fee. Instead, when a laborer performs their work a token is mined. Part of this token is taken by the network to supply to the verification process of new laborers and to pay for the Ethereum gas requirement for transactions. With no middle man taking money off of the top this frees up a larger amount of the money requesters are putting up for these jobs. This benefits the laborers by allowing them a much larger amount of money without asking the requester to put up more. **Is the pay issue all Gems is good for?** Gems solves a number of issues. Two very important ones are the weak verification processes from other micro task platforms, and the absurdly high cost of building the interfaces required for the laborers to provide the sought data. **Conclusion** Gems seems like the legitimate form of crowd sourcing micro tasks. They seek to turn it into more than sweatshop labor work. MTurk's existence is proof of the demand for a micro task platform such as this, it's just that up until now it hasn't felt like there's been an actual solution that people can make careers out of. The more that make careers out of micro tasks, the higher quality the work. This could have a legitimate impact on how individuals, startups, and smaller businesses approach crowd sourcing human intelligence required tasks. Please read the white paper for more details on the issues of the crowd sourced micro task market and how Gems addresses all of these problems. bodyThe Seahawks season may be over but I'm still following the offseason. I get excited about the personnel moves, the strategies, and the possibilities. I'm gonna be writing some blog posts throughout the offseason tracking what's going on with the Seahawks. This will be extremely opinionated and viewpoints on what the team should do, value of players, and potential personnel changes should be considered my opinion. This first one will be going over my general view of the personnel we're starting off with in the offseason. ## **Offense:** ![Russ and Doug.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmfFR9ooL2Y4WjsRxkHbWkJLT2Dh2yZpDwfiMzHkTfMqD8/Russ%20and%20Doug.jpg) **Quarterbacks:** *Russell Wilson, Austin Davis, Trevone Boykin* Russell Wilson stays. He's signed through 2019. Austin Davis is a free agent. Boykin is signed through next year. I don't expect anything exciting to happen to the Quarterback situation. **Overall current QB grade:** A We have an MVP worthy franchise QB. What more can you ask for? Well, I guess the Pats had Brady AND Grappy backin’ him up, the Packers had Favre AND Aaron Rodgers backin’ him up.. So I guess I’ll save the A+. **Running Backs:** *Chris Carson, Mike Davis, JD McKissic, Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy* **Carson** looks like a monster and he's cheap. He's definitely getting another shot at RB 1 next year. **Mike Davis** is a restricted free agent. Not only did he stand out in the preseason but he showed up when his number was called in the regular season. I hope we keep him. A running back on the Seahawks in 2017 doesn't command a lot of money so I think it's very likely Mike Davis comes into the 2018 season as our RB2. **JD McKissic** looked great as our speedy pass catching back. He's a free agent going into the offseason, but once again I don't think Seattle RBs will command a large price. **Thomas Rawls**... He's a restricted free agent. I don't think there will be any interest to raise the price. Call me crazy but I think he's retainable and I still like him. At least let him compete vs Carson, Davis, and McKissic in camp/preseason, please! I think he's good and explosive. He's not at all an every down back, but he doesn't need to be. If an injury occurs and Thomas Rawls gets called onto the field, I won't feel bad at all. **Eddie Lacy**... hahahahahahaha **Overall current running back grade: B** I don't think the running backs are bad at all. I'd be confident in the potential of our backfield if we go into next year with Carson, Davis, and McKissic. **Wide Receivers:** *Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Paul Richardson, Amara Darboh, Tanner McEvoy* **Doug Baldwin** is signed for a long time. He’s our franchise WR, as he should be. Doug Baldwin be great. **Tyler Lockett** is signed one more year and I love it. I love Lockett. He’s cheap. He’s reliable. He has big play potential in the passing game, explosive potential as a returner. I hope he stays a Hawk for a long time. I love **PRich**. He’s got huge play making potential, he goes up and gets balls, and he never stops fighting for a catch. I think he’s going to command a lot more money than a tight cap Seahawks organization is going to put forward. I think it’s probably the right decision to let him walk as well. He’ll be missed, but we have playmakers at WR and some potential in Darboh. I’m happy to give **Darboh** a chance. I didn’t want to pick him in the first place, but he’s here. He’s cheap. He does have potential. Let’s see what he’s got. **Tanner McEvoy** is around cause he’s big. Kasen Williams absolutely beat him out for this roster spot last year. He’s cheap and I feel like he’s not terrible so it won’t feel bad to have him back I suppose. I won’t feel bad if he gets beat out for a roster spot next preseason. **Overall current WR grade: C+** I really like our wide receivers. I don’t see it as a point of weakness. We are lacking a threat every defense needs to prepare for, however. **Tight Ends:** *Jimmy Graham, Luke Willson, Nick Vannett* I love **Jimmy Graham**. I don’t think he wants to be here, and we haven’t proven we can utilize him effectively enough to accept the cap hit. It doesn’t matter if your Tight end is an S class receiver if your scheme sets his ceiling to a C. Bye, Jimmy :( It’s gonna suck when the 49ers pick you up and you drop 3 TDs on us next year. **Luke Willson** is a free agent as well this year. We don’t have tight ends, basically, so I think I could see us signing Luke to another year deal. I doubt it will happen if he commands too much of a price as he hasn’t exactly been indispensable this year. We’ll likely try and replace Graham in free agency and Nick Vannett will remain on our team so there’s no way we’ll retain Luke if it’s even a semi issue. I like **Nick Vannett**. He has little play time and he hasn’t been great, but I feel like he’s at worst Luke Willson and has a higher ceiling. **Overall current TE grade: F** Our Tight end position is likely to lose 2 of it’s players and the one remaining has played so very little. **Offensive Line:** *Duane Brown, Justin Britt, Luke Joeckel, Mark Glowinski, Ethan Pocic, Germain Ifedi, Oday Aboushi, Matt Tobin, Jordan Roos* **Duane Brown** is signed through next year. I personally hope we pen a 3 year contract in the offseason to replace the current one. Save for freak accident there’s 0 chance he’s not a Hawk come 2018. **Justin Britt** is signed through 2020. I’m good with this. I like Britt. His contract is backloaded so he’s not a liability for cap in 2018, not really a bother in 2019, and really 2020 is the first time I think we’ll say “Do we need to pay him this much?” War Britt. (End Good things to say about the offensive line) **Luke Joeckel** has been inconsistent all year. He hit our cap for 7 million and that hurts. I think he’s a better option than the others remaining on our roster, but if we can’t get him significantly cheaper I really hope we let him walk in Free agency. **Ethan Pocic** will be around as he should be. I hope to see improvement. Poachit. What the fuck **Ifedi**?? 20 accepted penalties. It’s like a bad joke. He’ll be here again next year and compete for the right tackle spot as he should. Hopefully he loses.. **Glow’s** presence is a measure of how terrible our line is. We have him for another year and I suspect he’ll be around for it. I was actually intrigued by the potential of **Aboushi**. Everyone told me I was an idiot. Now who’s laughing? Them, I guess… I doubt we’ll be trying to get **Matt Tobin** for another year. Man.. that 5th round pick... **Jordan Roos** is with us for a couple years. He barely played. We’ll see if he climbs the depth chart in the absence of Tobin, Joeckel, and Aboushi. **Overall current O-Line Grade: D+** We actually have a couple bright spots in Brown and Britt, as well as potential in Pocic. This is more than I can say for the Giants, the Bengals, or the Cardinals. ## **Defense:** ![Bume.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNpXzRndCRATDhPfFXsTBp2bQcpj3PGrzWftneYKj7EzB/Bume.jpg) **Defensive Ends:** *Frank Clark, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Marcus Smith, Dion Jordan, Branden Jackson, Quinton Jefferson* I love **Frank Clark**. We have one more cheap year of Frank Clark, as long as he doesn’t demand a new contract in the offseason. As it stands right now, he’s a no brainer. Cheap and a beast. **Malik Mcdowell**. I was excited about Sparta’s one man Army. Fuck you because I know what you’re thinking. I think he’d have been a monster if he played. It remains to be seen if he ever plays again. I seriously hope he does. **Michael Bennett** could be offsides in a game of checkers. Still, he’s disruptive. Not elite, but disruptive. We’d only save 2 million in cap space to cut him. That’s not worth it unless there’s a very tight fit in cap and you cut him for a specific player. I expect to see him back with more offsides calls than ever. **Cliff** is probably done. I’m basing this off all reports I’ve seen since his injury, none seem to get more optimistic. He probably will never play football again from the sounds of it. Bye, Cliff. Thanks for Hawkin’ it up for as long as you did :( **Dion Jordan** has huge potential. I like the idea of bringing him back. He was basically free in 2017. But now he’s a free agent and I don’t know how much he’ll command in free agency. I want him back, but I’m 50/50 on whether he’ll actually be here. **Marcus Smith** is another former first round pick with huge potential we signed to a virtually free 1 year deal in 2017. I have no idea if the Seahawks will retain him. I suspect the decision to do so will depend on what happens with Dion Jordan. **Branden Jackson** and **Quinton Jefferson** are both free agents that didn’t see much play. If we retain them this would be a solely depth related move. **Overall current DE grade: B-** We don’t have that unblockable monster but we do have a ton of potential. Our D-Line always seems to underperform expectations though, so I dropped the grade slightly. **Defensive Tackles:** *Sheldon Richardson, Nazair Jones, Jarran Reed* I really like **Sheldon Richardson** although he didn’t live up to what was expected of him. I wonder what kind of price tag he’d demand to stay. With our cap predicament it’s likely there’s a lot of “Sheldon or X” situations. It’s worth noting he’s recently stated that he’s interested staying in Seattle. Here’s to the Hawk Nest Monster! **Naz Jones**! War Naz! War Jones! WAAAR! He’s here a long time and he’s outperforming (at least my) expectations! **Jarran Reed** is good through 2019 and I don’t suspect we’ll be parting ways. He’s been great. **Overall current DT grade: B-** Once again we have very solid players on the D line and huge potential that they have not quite lived up to. No unblockable monster type. I feel this position is as strong as our ends. **Linebackers:** *Bobby Wagner, Michael Wilhoite, KJ Wright, Josh Forrest, D.J. Alexander, Terence Garvin* I tried to pay my tab at a bar during a hox game a couple months ago. The transaction was declined. Called my bank, they said **Bobby Wagner** stopped it. **K.J. Wright** is signed through the 2018 season. Great LB, glad to have him. Our linebacking corps would be all around scary.. If only **Wilhoite** could tackle a runner or two… Anyway he’s a free agent. I don’t see us fighting to get him back so if he’s made any better offers. I feel like **Garvin** is in the same position as Wilhoite. If a depth move has us deciding between the two I’d prefer Hoite because I feel like his ceiling is higher, but I wouldn’t be surprised if neither of them were here next year. Not much to say here. **DJ Alexander** is signed through next year. I don’t know how much consequence this position will be unless we end up loaded at LB overnight. **Overall current LB grade: B+** Although BWagz can carry an LB corps to an A on his own, and KJ Wright is a very strong compliment, the grade takes a ding for depth. **Cornerbacks:** *Richard Sherman, Shaquill Griffin, Justin Coleman, Byron Maxwell, Deshawn Shead, Neiko Thorpe, Jeremy Lane* I’d love to have **Richard Sherman** back, provided we’re confident the team is going to make a push into the playoffs. He’s a beast and I want him mentoring Quill. Cutting or trading Sherman will free up something like 11 million in cap space. That being said I doubt we part ways and I’m ok with that. **Quill** has been great. I really like this addition. I hope he can continue to grow and become great. I see the potential in him. **Justin Coleman** has been a great pickup. He’s a restricted free agent in 2018. I just have this feeling he earned a bigger paycheck with this season, one he’ll be able to cash in with the Titans, Raiders, or someone else in need of secondary help. I really hope he’s back, but I just have a feeling he won’t be. **Deshawn Shead** is actually a free agent in 2018 too. I doubt we’ll lose both Coleman and Shead. I hope we can retain both, but I suspect Shead will return and Coleman will not. I don’t know if **Maxie** will return next year. I guess it depends on how badly he wants to play football. He’s been decent for us, but he’d be purely a depth move. Especially if we Retain Coleman, Shead AND Sherm. I imagine if he wants to return and doesn’t try and get paid he’ll be back. I’d like to have him as a depth player. **Neiko Thorpe** isn’t a bad depth hold. That said, he also represent virtually no cap hit. If there’s a higher potential cheap free agent I suspect we might swap up our depth. **Jeremy Lane.** You were *this* close to being traded. We were almost free... **Overall current CB grade: A** Our CBs are seriously solid and with a high potential. Haters can hate. **Safeties:** *Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bradley Mcdougald, Delano Hill, Tedric Thompson* **ET3**! I can’t see him as anything but a Seahawk. I hope he sticks around for the next 8 years. He did express interest in the Cowboys, and there’s been some dissent in the locker room. It’s possible he’s thinking that he’s on the back end of his career and he has always wanted to be a Cowboy. I also fear if we franchise tag him he’ll retire. We still have him signed through 2018 but this is a reality we have to face this year or next. I hope he sticks around. There’d be no reason he wouldn’t be back for at least 2018 unless we trade him as a form of looking to the future. **Kam** is my favorite player on that defense. That’s why it’s sad to say.. It sounds like he’s unlikely to ever play football again. To be cold and calculated for a second, we save 2 million from releasing him. That’s not a lot, but it’s a silver lining to the punch in the gut. #KrushEmKam **Bradley Mcdougald** has been really good in Kam’s absence. He’s headed to free agency but I really hope we can retain him. **Delano Hill** was drafted too early. Barely played. We have him for quite awhile provided he keeps earning his roster spot. We’ll eventually get a good read of what he has. **Tedric Thompson** is our least popular safety. He doesn’t seem that great, unfortunately. I think he seemed like a cool dude. But the Hox need beasts. Given our safety situation, I’m sure he’ll have another shot to earn a roster spot during camp and the preseason. ## **Special Teams:** ![Jon Ryan Face.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmS31HMLyHkpFWYqBTaAb9978sqzWnkKWDcZ3PLVTn3mFA/Jon%20Ryan%20Face.jpg) *Blair Walsh, Jason Myers, John Ryan* **Rickerblarewolsh**. Cringe every time he kicks. Nothing left. Only sadness. **Jason Myers** was signed after the Cardinals game. Pretty quick to grab a kicker. Especially if you’re keeping your current one. I guess what I’m sayin’ is…. Bye Walsh. **Jon Ryan** just had a pretty bad season for Jon Ryan. In the end, his average lies middle of the pack for the league. If you want to replace him, whatever. I’m not sure it will have a huge positive impact. I think really people are just remembering those 4ish terrible 19-25 yard shanks. He did net more punt yards than most.. On more attempts… so I guess that says something about our offense at least. I know people are calling for him to be released, but I don’t mind another season of Jacked Jon Ryan and his Jon Ryan face. I'll be solidifying my opinion on the coaching staff and then posting about them next.

I'm gonna be writing some blog posts throughout the offseason tracking what's going on with the Seahawks. This will be extremely opinionated and viewpoints on what the team should do, value of players, and potential personnel changes should be considered my opinion. \n\nThis first one will be going over my general view of the personnel we're starting off with in the offseason.\n\n\n\n## **Offense:**\n![Russ and Doug.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmfFR9ooL2Y4WjsRxkHbWkJLT2Dh2yZpDwfiMzHkTfMqD8/Russ%20and%20Doug.jpg)\n\n**Quarterbacks:**\n*Russell Wilson, Austin Davis, Trevone Boykin*\n\nRussell Wilson stays. He's signed through 2019. Austin Davis is a free agent. Boykin is signed through next year. I don't expect anything exciting to happen to the Quarterback situation.\n\n**Overall current QB grade:** A We have an MVP worthy franchise QB. What more can you ask for? Well, I guess the Pats had Brady AND Grappy backin’ him up, the Packers had Favre AND Aaron Rodgers backin’ him up.. So I guess I’ll save the A+.\n\n**Running Backs:**\n*Chris Carson, Mike Davis, JD McKissic, Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy*\n\n**Carson** looks like a monster and he's cheap. He's definitely getting another shot at RB 1 next year.\n\n**Mike Davis** is a restricted free agent. Not only did he stand out in the preseason but he showed up when his number was called in the regular season. I hope we keep him. A running back on the Seahawks in 2017 doesn't command a lot of money so I think it's very likely Mike Davis comes into the 2018 season as our RB2.\n\n**JD McKissic** looked great as our speedy pass catching back. He's a free agent going into the offseason, but once again I don't think Seattle RBs will command a large price.\n\n**Thomas Rawls**... If an injury occurs and Thomas Rawls gets called onto the field, I won't feel bad at all.\n\n**Eddie Lacy**... hahahahahahaha\n\n**Overall current running back grade: B** I don't think the running backs are bad at all. I'd be confident in the potential of our backfield if we go into next year with Carson, Davis, and McKissic.\n\n\n**Wide Receivers:**\n*Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Paul Richardson, Amara Darboh, Tanner McEvoy*\n\n**Doug Baldwin** is signed for a long time. He’s our franchise WR, as he should be. Doug Baldwin be great.\n\n**Tyler Lockett** is signed one more year and I love it. I love Lockett. He’s cheap. He’s reliable. He has big play potential in the passing game, explosive potential as a returner. I hope he stays a Hawk for a long time.\n\nI love **PRich**. \n\nI’m happy to give **Darboh** a chance. I didn’t want to pick him in the first place, but he’s here. He’s cheap. He does have potential. Let’s see what he’s got.\n\n**Tanner McEvoy** is around cause he’s big. Kasen Williams absolutely beat him out for this roster spot last year. He’s cheap and I feel like he’s not terrible so it won’t feel bad to have him back I suppose. I won’t feel bad if he gets beat out for a roster spot next preseason.\n\n**Overall current WR grade: C+** I really like our wide receivers. I don’t see it as a point of weakness. We are lacking a threat every defense needs to prepare for, however. \n\n\n**Tight Ends:**\n*Jimmy Graham, Luke Willson, Nick Vannett*\n\nI love **Jimmy Graham**. I don’t think he wants to be here, and we haven’t proven we can utilize him effectively enough to accept the cap hit. It doesn’t matter if your Tight end is an S class receiver if your scheme sets his ceiling to a C. Bye, Jimmy :( It’s gonna suck when the 49ers pick you up and you drop 3 TDs on us next year.\n\n**Luke Willson** is a free agent as well this year. We don’t have tight ends, basically, so I think I could see us signing Luke to another year deal. I doubt it will happen if he commands too much of a price as he hasn’t exactly been indispensable this year. We’ll likely try and replace Graham in free agency and Nick Vannett will remain on our team so there’s no way we’ll retain Luke if it’s even a semi issue.\n\nI like **Nick Vannett**. He has little play time and he hasn’t been great, but I feel like he’s at worst Luke Willson and has a higher ceiling.\n\n**Overall current TE grade: F** Our Tight end position is likely to lose 2 of it’s players and the one remaining has played so very little. \n\n\n**Offensive Line:**\n*Duane Brown, Justin Britt, Luke Joeckel, Mark Glowinski, Ethan Pocic, Germain Ifedi, Oday Aboushi, Matt Tobin, Jordan Roos*\n\n**Duane Brown** is signed through next year. I personally hope we pen a 3 year contract in the offseason to replace the current one. Save for freak accident there’s 0 chance he’s not a Hawk come 2018.\n\n**Justin Britt** is signed through 2020. I’m good with this. I like Britt. His contract is backloaded so he’s not a liability for cap in 2018, not really a bother in 2019, and really 2020 is the first time I think we’ll say “Do we need to pay him this much?” War Britt. (End Good things to say about the offensive line)\n\n**Luke Joeckel** has been inconsistent all year. He hit our cap for 7 million and that hurts. I think he’s a better option than the others remaining on our roster, but if we can’t get him significantly cheaper I really hope we let him walk in Free agency.\n\n**Ethan Pocic** will be around as he should be. I hope to see improvement. Poachit.\n\nWhat the fuck **Ifedi**?? 20 accepted penalties. It’s like a bad joke. He’ll be here again next year and compete for the right tackle spot as he should. Hopefully he loses..\n\n**Glow’s** presence is a measure of how terrible our line is. We have him for another year and I suspect he’ll be around for it.\n\nI was actually intrigued by the potential of **Aboushi**. Everyone told me I was an idiot. Now who’s laughing? Them, I guess…\n\nI doubt we’ll be trying to get **Matt Tobin** for another year. Man.. that 5th round pick...\n\n**Jordan Roos** is with us for a couple years. He barely played. We’ll see if he climbs the depth chart in the absence of Tobin, Joeckel, and Aboushi.\n\n\n**Overall current O-Line Grade: D+** We actually have a couple bright spots in Brown and Britt, as well as potential in Pocic. This is more than I can say for the Giants, the Bengals, or the Cardinals. \n\n## **Defense:**\n![Bume.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNpXzRndCRATDhPfFXsTBp2bQcpj3PGrzWftneYKj7EzB/Bume.jpg)\n\n**Defensive Ends:**\n*Frank Clark, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Marcus Smith, Dion Jordan, Branden Jackson, Quinton Jefferson*\n\nI love **Frank Clark**. We have one more cheap year of Frank Clark, as long as he doesn’t demand a new contract in the offseason. As it stands right now, he’s a no brainer. Cheap and a beast.\n\n**Malik Mcdowell**. I was excited about Sparta’s one man Army. Fuck you because I know what you’re thinking. I think he’d have been a monster if he played. It remains to be seen if he ever plays again. I seriously hope he does.\n\n**Michael Bennett** could be offsides in a game of checkers. Still, he’s disruptive. Not elite, but disruptive. We’d only save 2 million in cap space to cut him. That’s not worth it unless there’s a very tight fit in cap and you cut him for a specific player. I expect to see him back with more offsides calls than ever.\n\n**Cliff** is probably done. I’m basing this off all reports I’ve seen since his injury, none seem to get more optimistic. He probably will never play football again from the sounds of it. Bye, Cliff. Thanks for Hawkin’ it up for as long as you did :(\n\n**Dion Jordan** has huge potential. I like the idea of bringing him back. He was basically free in 2017. But now he’s a free agent and I don’t know how much he’ll command in free agency. I want him back, but I’m 50/50 on whether he’ll actually be here.\n\n**Marcus Smith** is another former first round pick with huge potential we signed to a virtually free 1 year deal in 2017. I have no idea if the Seahawks will retain him. I suspect the decision to do so will depend on what happens with Dion Jordan.\n\n**Branden Jackson** and **Quinton Jefferson** are both free agents that didn’t see much play. If we retain them this would be a solely depth related move.\n\n**Overall current DE grade: B-** We don’t have that unblockable monster but we do have a ton of potential. Our D-Line always seems to underperform expectations though, so I dropped the grade slightly.\n\n\n**Defensive Tackles:**\n*Sheldon Richardson, Nazair Jones, Jarran Reed*\n\nI really like **Sheldon Richardson** although he didn’t live up to what was expected of him. I wonder what kind of price tag he’d demand to stay. With our cap predicament it’s likely there’s a lot of “Sheldon or X” situations. It’s worth noting he’s recently stated that he’s interested staying in Seattle. Here’s to the Hawk Nest Monster!\n\n**Naz Jones**! War Naz! War Jones! WAAAR! He’s here a long time and he’s outperforming (at least my) expectations!\n\n**Jarran Reed** is good through 2019 and I don’t suspect we’ll be parting ways. He’s been great.\n\n**Overall current DT grade: B-** Once again we have very solid players on the D line and huge potential that they have not quite lived up to. No unblockable monster type. I feel this position is as strong as our ends.\n\n**Linebackers:**\n*Bobby Wagner, Michael Wilhoite, KJ Wright, Josh Forrest, D.J. Alexander, Terence Garvin*\n\nI tried to pay my tab at a bar during a hox game a couple months ago. The transaction was declined. Called my bank, they said **Bobby Wagner** stopped it.\n\n**K.J. Wright** is signed through the 2018 season. Great LB, glad to have him.\n\nOur linebacking corps would be all around scary.. If only **Wilhoite** could tackle a runner or two… Anyway he’s a free agent. I don’t see us fighting to get him back so if he’s made any better offers.\n\nI feel like **Garvin** is in the same position as Wilhoite. If a depth move has us deciding between the two I’d prefer Hoite because I feel like his ceiling is higher, but I wouldn’t be surprised if neither of them were here next year. Not much to say here.\n\n**DJ Alexander** is signed through next year. I don’t know how much consequence this position will be unless we end up loaded at LB overnight.\n\n**Overall current LB grade: B+** Although BWagz can carry an LB corps to an A on his own, and KJ Wright is a very strong compliment, the grade takes a ding for depth.\n\n**Cornerbacks:**\n*Richard Sherman, Shaquill Griffin, Justin Coleman, Byron Maxwell, Deshawn Shead, Neiko Thorpe, Jeremy Lane*\n\nI’d love to have **Richard Sherman** back, provided we’re confident the team is going to make a push into the playoffs. He’s a beast and I want him mentoring Quill. Cutting or trading Sherman will free up something like 11 million in cap space. That being said I doubt we part ways and I’m ok with that.\n\n**Quill** has been great. I really like this addition. I hope he can continue to grow and become great. I see the potential in him.\n\n**Justin Coleman** has been a great pickup. He’s a restricted free agent in 2018. I just have this feeling he earned a bigger paycheck with this season, one he’ll be able to cash in with the Titans, Raiders, or someone else in need of secondary help. I really hope he’s back, but I just have a feeling he won’t be.\n\n**Deshawn Shead** is actually a free agent in 2018 too. I doubt we’ll lose both Coleman and Shead. I hope we can retain both, but I suspect Shead will return and Coleman will not. \n\nI don’t know if **Maxie** will return next year. \n\n**Neiko Thorpe** isn’t a bad depth hold. That said, he also represent virtually no cap hit. If there’s a higher potential cheap free agent I suspect we might swap up our depth.\n\n**Jeremy Lane.** You were *this* close to being traded. We were almost free...\n\n**Overall current CB grade: A** Our CBs are seriously solid and with a high potential. Haters can hate.\n\n\n**Safeties:**\n*Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bradley Mcdougald, Delano Hill, Tedric Thompson*\n\n**ET3**! There’d be no reason he wouldn’t be back for at least 2018 unless we trade him as a form of looking to the future.\n\n**Kam** is my favorite player on that defense. That’s why it’s sad to say.. It sounds like he’s unlikely to ever play football again. To be cold and calculated for a second, we save 2 million from releasing him. That’s not a lot, but it’s a silver lining to the punch in the gut. #KrushEmKam\n\n**Bradley Mcdougald** has been really good in Kam’s absence. He’s headed to free agency but I really hope we can retain him. \n\n**Delano Hill** was drafted too early. Barely played. We have him for quite awhile provided he keeps earning his roster spot. We’ll eventually get a good read of what he has.\n\n**Tedric Thompson** is our least popular safety. He doesn’t seem that great, unfortunately. I think he seemed like a cool dude. But the Hox need beasts. Given our safety situation, I’m sure he’ll have another shot to earn a roster spot during camp and the preseason.\n\n\n## **Special Teams:**\n![Jon Ryan Face.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmS31HMLyHkpFWYqBTaAb9978sqzWnkKWDcZ3PLVTn3mFA/Jon%20Ryan%20Face.jpg)\n\n*Blair Walsh, Jason Myers, John Ryan*\n\n**Rickerblarewolsh**. Cringe every time he kicks. Nothing left. Only sadness.\n\n**Jason Myers** was signed after the Cardinals game. Pretty quick to grab a kicker. Especially if you’re keeping your current one. I guess what I’m sayin’ is…. Bye Walsh.\n\n**Jon Ryan** just had a pretty bad season for Jon Ryan. I know people are calling for him to be released, but I don’t mind another season of Jacked Jon Ryan and his Jon Ryan face.\n\n\nI'll be solidifying my opinion on the coaching staff and then posting about them next.",
