Two students have made complaints about staff and seven staff members have complained about the action of colleagues.\nThe other complaints, made between the launching of the anonymous reporting tool in May 2017 and January 31 this year, related to neither staff or students. This is because visitors to the campus are also able to complete online questionnaires. Some of the reports are thought to be historic.\nGraham Virgo, Professor of English Private Law and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education at the University of Cambridge, wrote in a blog: \"It supports our belief that we have a significant problem involving sexual misconduct – what we now need to ensure is that those who have been affected receive the support and guidance they need.\"\nWhilst anonymous reports have risen, Cambridge received only six formal allegations between October and December.\nAlongside the anonymous reporting tool, Cambridge launched a Breaking the Silence campaign in October last year and that is credited with prompting the second largest spike in reports in the University's history.\nProf Virgo said: \"We expected high numbers, and view it as a metric of success. It appears victims have confidence in our promise that these figures will be used to judge the nature and scale of sexual misconduct affecting students and staff, and to act on it accordingly.\"\nA number of other institutions , including the University of Manchester, have introduced the anonymous reporting tool but are yet to report results.",

It's currently undergoing safety tests and is set to open to the public in mid-February.\nThe 2.5-metre-wide transparent footpath is covered with three-layered laminated glass panels. A viewing platform has been built under the bridge.\nIt's reported that a maximum of 80 tourists are allowed to stand on the bridge at the same time.\nIt's built on Batai Mountain, where it's crowned to be the place where 'the first beam of light shine on Sichuan'.\nAccording to Xinhua, the 198-metre-long bridge is built over 186-metre above a sheer drop, which is roughly the height of a 66-storey building.\nThe vertical distance between the bridge and the bottom of the valley is said to be the third longest in China.\nBatai Mountain also has China's highest cliff glass walkway. Opened in August, 2016, the walkway hangs on the side of a vertical rock face at an altitude of 2,288 metres.",

So sang Elton John on one of his biggest 1970s hits - but not every public figure seems to find it so tough to utter that powerful five-letter word.\nIn recent months a broad spectrum of public figures, from politicians, to Hollywood actors and YouTube stars have all publicly expressed remorse.\nBut with so much remorse on the airwaves, just how can we differentiate a forced apology from a heartfelt expression of remorse?\nIn its purest form, saying sorry should be an \"act of contrition, a realisation that something you have said or done has hurt someone and you want to make amends\", says psychologist Geraldine Joaquim.\nhttps://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2017/08/30/09/09/excuse-me-2696394_960_720.jpg\nMade early, a well-crafted apology can be hugely beneficial and can \"diffuse the situation and takes the wind out of an accuser's sails\", she says.\nA need to say sorry can arise in someone's public life and equally at home with their family and friends but, whatever the environment, how well it is received depends on how personalised it feels.\nExperts say the formula for an affective apology can be summed up with the acronym CAR:\n    show concern\n    demonstrate action\n    offer reassurance\n\"People want the response to be personal to them, to feel that they're being listened to and taken seriously,\" says Martin Stone, of PR agency Tank.\nHe says that, in the professional sphere, the phrase \"formal apology\" is often used, but, in reality, the opposite is what is required.\nFrom businesses, governments and organisations, a scripted response will fail to resonate as it will not convey empathy and compassion.\nWhether online or in person, the timing and choice of language in an apology are decisive factors.\n\"Firstly, it is important to show that you understand and sympathise,\" says Stone.\n\"It is vital that any business or individual making an apology understands the focus - is it sorry for the way it's acted or is it sorry that the complainant feels the way they do?\"\nSpontaneity - watch out for the speed of response, the quicker the apology comes, the better indication that the person making it has felt an immediate sense of guilt.\nBody language - if genuine, the person making the apology will be looking for listening clues to see if they are being understood, such as eye contact and facial expressions.\nVulnerability - performed apologies always have a sense of being \"acted out\", and are often accompanied by too many theatrical gestures. If the person is genuine they will provide \"humbling signals\"', such as a lowered head, to indicate remorse and vulnerability.\nDenial gestures - the biggest clues of insincerity can come after the gesture itself, with non-verbal signals that silently reject the words used; this can include looking to the floor and smirking.\nLinguistically it is also important to avoid dehumanising statements or promises that can't be kept.\n\"Don't say that you'll ensure that this will not happen again if you're not confident it won't. It could come back to bite you,\" Stone explains.\nEqually, the use of \"but\" can hugely change the tone of an apology.\nAs Stone points out: \"I'm sorry but…' sounds like you are making excuses and aren't actually taking any form of responsibility.\n\"It may be three letters but it can instantly make an apology seem hollow.\"",

Talk about the breakup\nThis strategy might seem counterintuitive: Why dwell on a painful past?\nAnd yet a study published 2015 in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science found that simply participating in research on breakups can help people get over them.\nA group of participants who spent more time talking to experimenters and filling out surveys about the breakup later experienced less distress than a group who spent minimal time on the same activities.
