      "body": "<p align=\"justify\">Recently we decided to update the firmware of our non-EU FrSky Taranis X9D, so it will be fully compliant with European regulations. In this tutorial, we will explain the differences between the international and EU firmware as well as show you how to flash your Taranis with the latest firmware.</p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The latest EU firmware for FrSky products is called EU <strong>LBT</strong> (Listen Before Talk). All FrSky products sold in the European Union should have this firmware installed. However, if you have purchased your transmitter or receiver from international websites like <a href=\"http://www.dronehitech.com/refer/Banggood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banggood</a>, Aliexpress or Gearbest, you probably have an international (non-EU) firmware version.</p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The <strong>main difference</strong> between the international and EU firmware is following:</p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Taranis with EU firmware does not support <strong>D8</strong> mode. If you have EU firmware installed you cannot select this mode.</p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><a href=\"http://dronehitech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/screen-2017-09-17-182759.png\" rel=\"noopener\"><img class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"screen-2017-09-17-182759\" src=\"http://dronehitech.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/screen-2017-09-17-182759_thumb.png\" alt=\"screen-2017-09-17-182759\" width=\"304\" height=\"94\" border=\"0\" /></a></p>\n<p align=\"justify\">And you will not be able to connect your Taranis with D-Series and V-series receivers, like D4R-II, D8R-II, V8R-II etc.</p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Before we start with the updating of the firmware, let me make a quick, but very <strong> important note</strong>:</p>\n\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">The FrSky Taranis has <strong>two firmwares</strong> installed: the first one is the <strong>operating system</strong> of the transmitter, called <strong>OpenTX</strong>. The second firmware is the one of the internal RF module (XJT module). Updating only the OpenTX firmware to an EU version will simply remove the “D8 mode” from the selection menu. However if you don´t update the firmware of the internal XJT module it will still not work with EU-flashed receivers.</p>\n</blockquote>\n<h3></h3>\n<h3></h3>\n<h3></h3>\n<h3 align=\"justify\">How to update the OpenTx firmware</h3>\n<p align=\"justify\">If you want to update the Taranis firmware through your PC/Mac, you will need to download the OpenTX Companion software. Go to the OpenTX <a href=\"http://www.open-tx.org/downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">download page</a> and get the latest version.</p>\n\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">09.2017: Current version is OpenTX 2.2. Installation file for Windows can be directly downloaded from this <a href=\"http://downloads.open-tx.org/2.2/companion/windows/companion-windows-2.2.0.exe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">link</a>.</p>\n</blockquote>\n<p align=\"justify\">Next, you will need to install the drivers for your FrSky Taranis. Power <strong>OFF</strong> your Taranis transmitter and connect it to your computer over the USB port.</p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Download the <a href=\"http://zadig.akeo.ie/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zadig tool</a> and run it as Administrator. Choose “STM32 BOOTLOADER” from the drop-down menu and click on “Install/Replace Driver”. The current government proposed new drone regulations few months ago and those were taken in consideration by the parliament.\n\nThe new regulations for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and flight models were published in the Federal Law Gazette (Bundesgesetzblatt) on 6.4.2017 and entered into force on 7.4.2017.\n\nThe new regulations should encourage the commercial drone use and at the same time keep the air traffic safe. The government recognised how drones can be used for the public good and made the use of drones by public authorities and organisations even easier.\n\nWe prepared an overview of the new regulations for private and commercial use. The German regulations differentiate between UAVs and flight models only based on the purpose of the flight.\n\nExample: The popular DJI Phantom drone can be an UAV, if you use it for commercial purpose like filming a wedding. If you are flying it for recreational use, it is a flight model.\n\nRegulations for both private and commercial use:\n\nLabelling (name and address) with a fire proof sticker (from October 2017) for drones with weight more than 250g\nNo prior permission for aircrafts under 5kg\nPrior permission needed for flights at a distance of less than 1.5km to airports\nPrior permission needed for night flights\nThe federal authorities will grant the permission if there is no danger for the public safety. The authorities may require additional documents like an opinion by independent experts.\n\nMounting a fire proof sticker could be a bit tricky depending on the aircraft you are using.
