Safety of an online account be it social site, educative site, storage site or information site have been a major challenge due to unauthorized access of a user account. Today I will be explaining the different security keys (passwords) in steem and also throw more light on their different functions, their restrictions not excluding the safe keeping of the keys as a top priority in steem basic security.\n\n Firstly, as a steemian, Inmade sure I retrieved all my personal security keys in steem, the keys includes;\n\n* The master key\n* Posting key\n* Active key\n* Owner's key\n* Memo key\n \nAll these keys are the protective shield that secures a user's account and personalizes it, preventing unauthorized access or invasion of an account thereby keeping it strongly safe for the user to access anytime anywhere in any device.\n\nI retrieved all these keys and made sure it is secured In an encrypted at both end online (icloud account) and also copied Off-line (personal diary) and kept in a safe place.\n\n## <center>  KEYS IN STEEM AND THEIR FUNCTIONS.</center>\n\n### <center>THE MASTER KEY</center>\nThis is the most important key or password, it is the key that is used to generate other keys or passwords with no exception. The functions of this key involves in the powering up and down transactions, voting for witnesses, updating profile details and avatar, transferring funds in,within and out of steem and placing market order.\n\n\n### <center>OWNER'S KEY</center>\nIn the cases where an account was accessed without authorisation, Owner's key used to recover the compromised account. It is the most powerful because it can change any other key.
