      "body": "오래된 미래\n\n‘CES 2018’을 취재하기 위해 미국 라스베이거스 매캐린 국제공항에 내렸다. 숙박 공유 사이트인 에어비앤비를 통해 예약한 곳으로 가기 위해 택시를 탔다.\n\n택시기사는 어디에서 왔느냐고 물었고 코리아에서 왔다고 말했다. 북쪽과 남쪽 중 어디인지 묻길래 남이라고 웃으며 답했다. 그는 자신의 스마트폰에 “오케이 구글”이라고 말하고 구글 어시스턴트를 호출했다. 그리고 구글 번역기를 실행하라고 말하는 거 같았다. 몇 번 우리 일행에게 말을 걸다가 영어가 유창하지 않은 걸 알고 그걸 택한 모양이다.\n\n그러면서 혼자 폰에다 중얼거리기 시작했다. 그러자 구글 음성번역을 통해 낯익은 목소리로 “저곳은 낮엔 괜찮은데 저녁엔 위함하니 가지 마세요”라는 말이 흘러나왔다. 우리가 “와우”라고 했더니 그는 웃으며 또 무슨 말을 했다. 이어서 “저긴 맛있고 저렴한 아시안 식당이 있으니 가면 좋습니다. 그리고 저기는 베스트바이인데 가전제품 사려면 가세요. 유심칩도 살 수 있어요. 즐거운 여행 하세요.”\n\n![ces_2018.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmcuJn4VUGG5W2NtQGPif6gCX9e9EfoqYeFukwNFtr4RRn/ces_2018.jpg)\n\n택시를 내리면서 정말 놀랐다. 하긴 가기 전부터 한 지인이 번역과 음성인식 AI를 활용해 기사를 전 세계 언어로 다 번역하고 그에 맞는 언어로 읽어주는 걸 테스트하는 걸 봤던 터라 이 상황이 천지개벽할 상황은 아니었다. 해외 여행길에 간간이 음성번역 서비스를 쓰기도 했었다. 택시운전사가 구글 광신도인 거 같다고 웃으면서도 다양한 국가에서 많은 이들이 방문하는 곳에서는 정말 유용할 거 같다는 생각이 들었다.\n\n2015년 9월 한 택시운전사가 떠올랐다. 은평구청에 간다고 했더니 그는 “하이 갤럭시 티맵 실행”이라고 하니 티맵이 열렸다. 다시 “티맵아”라고 부르며 “은평구청 가는 길 찾아줘”라고 말했다. 너무나 신기한 광경이었다. 그는 “하이 갤럭시를 부르고 티맵을 열고 목적지까지 나오면 참 좋은데 그게 안 되네요”라며 아쉬워했다.\n\n![20180112_140159.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmW7fnkohw436a4HRQmhjo8t4pbiytr2ZESGQgT2is3FEA/20180112_140159.jpg)\n\n본격적인 CES 2018 취재를 시작하면서 행사장 곳곳에서 구글의 존재를 확인할 수 있었다. “헤이 구글”이 이곳 저곳에 띄워져 있었고, LG전자를 비롯한 수많은 하드웨어 업체들이 구글 어시스턴트를 지원한다고 발표했다. 2017년 아마존이 곳곳에 존재감을 드러낸 것에 비해서도 구글은 작정하고 나온 거 같았다.\n\n업계 한 관계자는 “지난 연말 구글은 구글 홈을 저가에 뿌렸다. 살포했다는 표현이 나을 거 같다. 그렇지 않았다면 올해 아마존에 거실을 빼앗겼을 거다”라고 말했다. 구글의 체험관은 다양한 사례를 통해 어시스턴트를 활용할 수 있도록 꾸며놨다. 이런 시나리오 기반은 빅스비를 미는 삼성전자 부스에서도 유사했다.\n\n귀국해 지하철을 타고 집으로 돌아가는 길에서 쓸데없는 생각을 해봤다. 수년간 밀던 “하이 갤럭시”는 어느 새 우리 주위에서 사라지고 ‘빅스비’가 등장했다. 빅스비 2.0을 통해 2020년까지 삼성전자 전 제품에 탑재시키겠다고 밝혔다. SK텔레콤의 티맵은 여전히 존재한다. 네이버는 지도앱을 전면 개편해 다국어 지도와 영어 내비게이션 등으로 평창올림픽을 지원하겠다고 밝혔다. 음성인식 플랫폼 클로바를 통해 LG전자, LG유플러스, 미래에셋대우, 배달의민족인 우아한형제들과도 협력했다.\n\n빠르고 언제 어디서나 광대역에 유·무선으로 접속할 수 있는 나라. 많은 나라들이 자신들의 미래 상황이라고 치켜세우는 나라에서 왜 정작 그들이 환호할 미래의 서비스는 이제서야 싹을 틔우고 있는 걸까.\n\n아이러니 하다. 전세계 최고의 가전 업체들이 한국 기업이다. 통신사들과 건설사들의 협력은 하루 이틀 나온 말이 아니다. 통신사들과 가전 업체의 협력도 마찬가지다. 물론 이제는 시간을 돌고 돌아서 네이버가 LG전자와 LG유플러스와 협력해서 가정 속으로 스피커를 강력히 자리잡아가겠다고 밝혔다. 카카오도 카카오미니 재판매에 나섰다. 이번에는 제대로 된 협력의 모습을 볼 수 있기를. \n\n- 이 글은 주간경향에 기고한 글이다 : http://weekly.khan.co.kr/khnm.html?mode=view&code=116&art_id=201801291721341",
