One of Them is Called "Jair Bolsonaro". He is against the human rights.. he is in favor of torture...he said taht womans dont deserve to earn money like men. He said also that 'nobody likes the homossexuals...we just tolerate.' I dont know... The crisis in Rio is having deadly consequences. A police officer is killed on average every 54 hours in Rio state. According to the state's security secretariat, nearly 3,500 people were murdered in the first six months of this year, 15% more than last year. The number of people killed by police in shootouts rose by 45%. War in Rio Every day, there are new headlines splashed across the papers reporting the growing violence. Stray bullets: The girl shot in the play area An education disrupted by violence Rio 2016: Violence seeps back into the favelas Jornal Extra has even created a pullout war section that its journalists say is needed to be able to cover the stories. Thousands of soldiers have been deployed on the streets in recent weeks, a show of force perhaps but not everyone is convinced they will make a difference. "Things are out of control here," says Marcio Jorge, who works in a supermarket on Copacabana. "We don't even want to leave the house because we don't feel safe. In my neighbourhood yesterday eight vehicles were robbed and now the crossfire can be heard everywhere, not only in the favelas. Insecurity is everywhere." Mapping the violence Amid the violence, Dennis Coli and three of his friends came up with a bright idea. They developed an app called OTT (Onde Tem Tiroteio, or Where There Are Shootouts). It informs people about violence in the city. When they hear of a shootout or a police operation, they ask their contacts to confirm it, all within two minutes, so they can alert their followers on their app, or on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. "We had to do something because the government wasn't doing anything," Mr Coli says. "Nobody knows how many shootings are happening, how many robberies are happening and we are showing this. We're exposing the violence in Rio at this point in time." Cecilia Oliveira, with the help of Amnesty International, works on another app called Fogo Cruzado (Crossfire). She is so overworked, she is having to hire more people to cover all the shootings in the city. And she does not think it will get any better any time soon. "It's a hard situation and to add to this, there is a new gang that used to work in Sao Paulo coming to Rio - we have a lot of guns on the streets," she says. She thinks Rio's financial problems are exacerbating things: "How do you resolve this situation if you are not paying the police? It's hard to think of a solution in this scenario." Wrong police focus But one former police commander, Ibis Pereira, says Rio's problem lies in bad government policies towards tackling violence. "Despite being one of the largest economies in the world, there is a brutal inequality. Historically, we've tried to solve the problem of violence - especially in the poorest areas - exclusively with police." Not enough has been done to make the poorer parts of the city safer places to live in, he says. It is a feeling echoed by many. Innocent families get caught up in this violence in unimaginable ways. But the story that shocked everybody in Rio was that of Claudineia dos Santos Melo and her baby Arthur. She was days away from giving birth in June when she was hit in the stomach. The bullet also hit her baby. Little Arthur was delivered by emergency Caesarean and remained in critical condition. But earlier this month, he died. Claudineia and her partner Klebson da Silva held a funeral for him when they should have been enjoying the first weeks of parenthood. Arthur was the youngest victim of Rio's violence. bodyI don't if you know guys but we are living a military intervention at rio. The Army was called to do the security at RIO. A few days ago... A young woman from the "favela" (i dont know if we have a exactly translate of this word to english) that was a city ​​councilor and made some public complant of the Army behavior on the poor piece of the city was killed at a "assalt". But we already discovered that the Army fake this assault.. because the bullets was recognized that was bought by the Army... We are in really danger condition now.. The Armys are sating maybe they can take the governmente and its really bad. We have only a few year of democracy at Brazil...about two years ago we suffer a coup d'etat ftrom Temer. Temer is the bigger thief of our contry he is selling the brazilian water and other things just to "buy" Judges and senators to dont go to the jail.. because he is already jugdged and condemned. So when he will be a normal citzen again.. then he goes directly to jail... unless he "buy" more than 500 persons (setanors , judges, ministers, Congressmen)... an he is selling many things of the country.. Some pieces off Amazonia , even our water he is selling to can buy this people that i told. I think its not only problem from Brasil.. evrybody knows that if the Amazon ends...the entire world ends togheter... If the Brazilian water had a bad destiny, its also affect all the world.. So i ask to you guys to share this information... How Do Meditation and Mindfulness Overlap? The concepts of meditation and mindfulness are very similar. While meditation typically involves trying to enter a different state of consciousness, mindfulness means becoming aware of the present moment. In this way, you might think of mindfulness as one step on the path toward meditation. Both of these practices may be helpful for anxiety, because they enable you to reduce worry and be aware without being fearful. Mindfulness-Based Meditation Meditation used in the treatment of anxiety disorders typically takes the form of mindfulness-based meditation. This type of meditation has its roots in the mindfulness movement started by Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) approach. The basic premise of this approach is to learn to detach from anxious thoughts. This is achieved by practicing awareness, identifying tension in the body, understanding your thinking patterns, and learning how to deal with difficult emotions. Resist this urge and continue to focus on your breathing. Anxious thoughts may pass through your mind. Acknowledge them, but then bring yourself back to awareness of your breathing. Continue this quiet, nonjudgmental observation for about 10 minutes. Open your eyes and notice how you feel. Don't evaluate, just observe. The key to learning to practice meditation is to accept the world around you from a place of curious observation. This meditative practice may soon spill into other areas of your life, as you notice yourself observing rather than reacting during difficult situations or times of worry. GAD primarily involves unrelenting worry—if you can learn to accept those worries without letting them upset you, then your distress is likely to diminish. What If I Can't Meditate? There are many reasons why you might find it hard to meditate or be mindful. You might have trouble observing without judging or you may feel impatient or as though there is "too much to do" to be sitting around breathing. Some people have trouble doing nothing, as they are used to always being on the go. Other times, you might find that you can't stop the negative thoughts from intruding as you try to relax. The best advice to overcome these obstacles is twofold: Recognize that this will take time. Don't expect your first meditation session to be easy. As silly as it may sound, it takes practice to learn how to do nothing. Eventually, it will come easier. Make time for this. Just as this will take time, you need to make time for it. HEALTH.COM April 05, 2017 You know that feeling of clear-headed calm that washes over you when you listen to water babbling down a stream, or leaves rustling in the wind? Researchers say they’ve pinpointed a scientific explanation for why sounds from nature have such a restorative effect on our psyche: According to a new study, they physically alter the connections in our brains, reducing our body’s natural fight-or-flight instinct. Natural sounds and green environments have been linked with relaxation and well-being for hundreds of years, of course. But the new research, published in the journal Scientific Reports, is the first to use brain scans, heart-rate monitors, and behavioral experiments to suggest a physiological cause for these effects. To investigate the connection between the brain, the body, and background noise, researchers at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in England recruited 17 healthy adults to receive functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans while listening to a series of five-minute soundscapes of natural and manmade environments. During each soundscape, participants also performed a task to measure their attention and reaction time. Their heart rates were monitored as well, to indicate changes in their autonomic nervous systems—the system of organs involved in involuntary processes such as breathing, blood pressure, temperature, metabolism, and digestion. Play Video When they studied the fMRI results, the researchers noticed that activity in the brain’s default mode network—an area involved in mind wandering and “task-free” states of wakefulness—varied depending on the background sounds being played. Specifically, listening to artificial sounds was associated with patterns of inward-focused attention, while nature sounds prompted more external-focused attention. Inward-focused attention can include worrying and rumination about things specific to one's self—patterns that have been linked to conditions involving psychological stress (including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder). Participants’ reaction times were slower when they listened to artificial sounds compared to natural ones, as well. Slight differences in heart rate were also detected, indicating a shift in the body’s autonomic nervous system response. Overall, nature sounds were associated with a decrease in the body’s sympathetic response (which causes that “fight-or-flight” feeling) and an increase in parasympathetic response—the one that helps the body relax and function in normal circumstances, and is sometimes referred to as the “rest-digest” response. Those results weren’t the same for everyone, though: People who started the study with the highest sympathetic responses (suggesting high levels of stress) registered the biggest relaxation benefits from the nature clips. When we go to a beach we feel free there because the sound of water, the dancing of waves, forgetting about the worldly things and the color effect of sun, everything make us happy. Also, mammals were descendants of marine animals so perhaps the love for water has been embedded in our DNA. Hence, we enjoy and become a child there.
