| body | I just got my new work boots two days ago and I can't stop wearing them. Mostly because the leather is stiff and I'm trying to break them in, but also because they're gorgeous and the insole is more comfortable than my Chuck 70's. It's only been two days so I can't very well say how they'll hold up, but being that I'm a Dispatch Officer, I don't foresee them getting too beat up over the next couple of months. I do plan on wearing them casually as well. When I'm working on my car or building random things these will be on my feet. I did a lot of research on what my next pair of heritage style boots would be and without a doubt they had to be American Made. Right off the bat I thought of Origin Maine and they're bison boots. The bison boots don't come in black and I needed my boots to be black. I saw further down the site they had a new model, the Lincoln - 1865. A boot with a toecap that's similar to the Redwing Iron Ranger. The style is like no other boot. The sharp edges and round curves give these boots a look unlike any other in the market. I may black out the soles, but it's not necessary. Speaking of soles these are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. That's saying a lot, I own a few pairs of comfortable shoes. I also have a pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile boots which have become like a glove for my feet over the last two years. I'm here to tell you these confused me with their comfort. I didn't realize a heritage boot could feel like a sneaker. The insole that they use has a bouncy return that makes them feel a lot like a pair of Converse Chuck 70's. I immediately felt happy with the bottom of my feet. The soles are Vibram big lug soles. You can pick the sole you want, I chose the big lug, but they also offer a mini lug, and Christy sole. The top of my feet were another story. The boot leather is thick and stiff. Many other reviewers on their site stated it took about two weeks before the leather gave way and became more pliable like canvas. For the last two days they've been rubbing up against the stitching of the toecap and boy do they hurt. I definitely need the leather to loosen up a bit, but I'm sure once they break in I won't have this problem anymore. I used the sizing guide and I still managed to stupidly click the wrong button, which they quickly corrected and sent my boots to me much faster than I thought I would receive them. All and all I got them in about 7 days. It cost me $306 US dollars for a quality American Made product. I'm currently very happy with my purchase and I can't wait to come back with updates on how the boots are performing. |

| body | The Jordan MA2 is a casual shoe meant to sit by the door and wear on your way out to the trash or around the block. That said they've found their way back in the box for me, and yes they still look fairly new. Why? Well, as good as they look the cheap materials used can really be felt. I don't typically wear socks with my "by the door" shoes and as such I found the sole and upper uncomfortable on feet. The sole has small holes in it that you can really feel even when I was wearing socks it felt like I had micro balls beneath my feet. The upper was cool and the small patches of faux suede protected my toes and the outside of my foot. With socks on I had less of an issue with the upper, but I could still feel the uncomfortable sole. I really like the way you can quickly slip them on with the two pull tabs one on the tongue and one on the heel. The lockdown was interesting, my foot never slipped out but my heel always felt loose. I can't explain it, my foot never slipped out of the shoe whether, I tied them or not, my foot remained firmly planted inside the Jordan MA2's. When it came time to take them off my favorite feature of the shoe is the ejection pods on the back of the shoe. There are two colored, red on my shoes, pods that say eject on them where you can use the toe of one shoe to pull off the other shoe. I mean we've all done it, and with the Jordan MA2's kicking off your shoes has never been easier or faster. Overall, I really like the Jordan MA2's. I think they accomplish the job they set out to do. They are the perfect "by the door" shoe. Why then are mine back in the box, and why do they look so new after 60 days of wear? The shoes are comfortable, but not the most comfortable shoes. The Jordan MA2's have style, but aren't the most stylish. Lastly, the Jordan MA2's are cheap, but at $130, its hard not to recommend better shoes at a cheaper price, for a pair of shoes meant to sit by the door. In conclusion, if you like the style and find the fit comfortable, they're for you. The 200 Air sole is really comfortable, and perfect for all day walking or just chasing kids around for an hour. The fabric insole is uncomfortable and the $130 price tag makes the Jordan MA2's a tough recommendation for me. If you're looking for something you can kick around in with slight comfort I suggest a pair of low top Chuck 70's, Vans slip-ons with the light weight sole, or low top Jordan 1's. Those would all be better by the door options than these. |

"body": "The Jordan MA2 is a casual shoe meant to sit by the door and wear on your way out to the trash or around the block. That said they've found their way back in the box for me, and yes they still look fairly new. \nWhy?\nWell, as good as they look the cheap materials used can really be felt. I don't typically wear socks with my \"by the door\" shoes and as such I found the sole and upper uncomfortable on feet. The sole has small holes in it that you can really feel even when I was wearing socks it felt like I had micro balls beneath my feet. The upper was cool and the small patches of faux suede protected my toes and the outside of my foot. With socks on I had less of an issue with the upper, but I could still feel the uncomfortable sole.\n\nI really like the way you can quickly slip them on with the two pull tabs one on the tongue and one on the heel. The lockdown was interesting, my foot never slipped out but my heel always felt loose. I can't explain it, my foot never slipped out of the shoe whether, I tied them or not, my foot remained firmly planted inside the Jordan MA2's. \n\nWhen it came time to take them off my favorite feature of the shoe is the ejection pods on the back of the shoe. There are two colored, red on my shoes, pods that say eject on them where you can use the toe of one shoe to pull off the other shoe. | body | The last two weeks I’ve been practicing making truffles what I prefer to call bon bons for an event at the local boys and girls club. I must have made these things several different times only for it to be failure after failure until at the very last minute everything just worked out. They popped out of the molds without any issues. The colors looked amazing and the middle was soft and gooey. I did good. We went to a party at the VFW after it was some girls birthday. Everyone was dressed as actresses and singers from the 90’s. I stayed longer than I should have, but it felt good to be out and about. No one was wearing masks everyone was hugging and touching each other it felt great to be normal. I ended this weekend with some amazing barbecue. It was cooked with an egg smoker and I can still taste the smoke on my burps. |

| body | The weekend is a thing to look forward to again. People are able to go out and visit restaurants and people. I’m seriously happy things are getting back to normal. I went on a hike this time I chose a less stressful climb and that was the right choice. I went to Fryman Trail in Studio City, CA. After going for a hike I had built up an appetite and lord knows I would need it for this meal. We went to a restaurant called Gayu-Kaku a Japanese grill type of place where you cook the meat at the center of the table. Not really a place I would seek to go out to but o had so much fun I could easily do that like 3-4 times a year. I started practicing my chocolate covered strawberries and they came out all right. I’m going to give it a few more passes before the day of the event. Hopefully I can get the marbling technique right. And just an update on my shoes they’re holding up well and they are definitely a daily shoe. I’m half way through the month and I’m still digging the shoes. They really are an easy everyday kick around shoe. |

| body | I've been painting more and more. I'm not doing it everyday yet, but I'm at least pulling out the brush a few times a week. Lately, I've been painting on objects and that seems to be more fun then just painting on a canvas. It's certainly not easier. You really have to think about the material you're painting on and what type of paint to use. I found myself using oils on a pair of canvas Vans and I thought, "shit, how long will this take to dry?" I later added liquids to help with the drying process, but then I thought, "will that seal this shoe so it's not breathable?" I'm sure most people wouldn't care about those things, but these are the thoughts that pop into my head when I'm painting on stuff like this. |

| body | I decided to go on a hike up the mountain behind where I live. The shoes performed admirably. The 3 mile walk/jog up to the trail was no problem but once I got to the actual trail the traction was put to the test. I didn’t have nerves of steel on the way down my feet were just sliding too much and I started to crave a trail specific shoe. The flatter the terrain I didn’t have any issues but once it started getting steep it was a wrap. When I got home my shoes were beat up so it was time for a wash. The fabric portions cleaned off really quickly and easy. I had a harder time getting the soles clean. |

| body | Day three and four of my 30 day sneaker challenge was a lighter set of days. I pretty much just walked around town running errands. They’re still looking good but as planned I’m going to give them a wash and clean up the white mid sole and freshen up the fabric top. I’ve finally started to wind it down like the doctors want me to. I started being more mindful of the things I do and how they’re effecting my health. My liver is starting to have pain consistently and I am starting to get dumb again. I can feel myself forgetting what I’m talking about as I’m talking about it. I find myself losing focus way too easily. I started honing in on my diet, cutting back on the amount and changing the type of exercise I do, and I’ve been consistently documenting my journey in a written journal. I mostly keep the journal for food and making sure I’m improving daily. |

| body | Day 2 with the Jordan MA2 was better than yesterday. I used them to go on a run. I ran over multiple surfaces and there weren’t any issues. They’re not like dedicated running shoes. They don’t propel you forward. They are light weight and comfortable on the forefoot strike. The heal strike isn’t bad either with a little bounce from the air bag. They still don’t lock down in a way I like. My heel just feels lose. My foot is locked in but the freedom on my ankles just feels odd. I put 2.6 miles on them today and tomorrow I’ll take them to Tacfit for a Hiit style workout. It’s only been two days but the top fabric is comfortable and I’m coming around to the little bumps on the sole. |

| body | I got the shoes today. I was really excited to get them and start doing this experiment. I had a choice of either the white in a nine and a half or the black in a nine. I prefer a snug fit on my sneakers so I went with the size nine in the black and red. The shoe has a white sole which I wanted to be black and have already considered painting it black, but I'm not going to. The shoe looks good style wise, but comfort was not the best in the beginning. I tied my shoes tight like I usually do but the lock down on the ankle was not tight at all no matter how I pulled on the laces. My foot was firmly in the shoe though so I just went with it. Eventually that feeling went away, but the feeling that I have had since putting my feet into the shoe is the tiny bumps on the sole. It felt like it was sending a shock to my system when I first started wearing them. I practically wore the shoes out of the store like a kid. The lady who helped me was really excited to help me I think she could feel my enthusiasm for the shoes. I powered through the pain and odd feels on my way to my families memorial day barbeque. The drive wasn't as smooth since there isn't that much ground/pedal feel through the shoes. Not a big deal but it took a few miles to get used to. I was on my feet for about 4 hours at the barbeque. Helping out with the kids, taking photos, playing games, and talking smack with the OG's. I had fun, but I couldn't help, but notice my feet were hurting me. I kept questioning if I had chosen the right size. I'm sure I did since I have a narrow foot and my foot sits comfortable on the sole without going over instead of sitting inside with room to move laterally inside the larger shoe. The react cushion just isn't as soft as it's been in other shoes. I'm hoping this is just a break in period, and later in the week they'll give a little and become a touch softer in the sole. When I got home, as I always do I took off my shoes and inspected them for hard stains. You know the stuff that needs to be treated right away. I didn't have anything major, and during the inspection I got the bright idea to put the shoes on without socks and boy oh boy am I happy I did. The bumps make way more since. They massage the feet and feel great when you're not wearing socks. I don't think I would go sockless on a run or while doing TacFit, but I'm happy to go sockless the rest of the way. That's it for day one with the Jordan MA2 a good day for a shoe that has some room to improve. I have more than enough sneakers to rotate, but when it came time for me to find an everyday shoe many Youtube reviewers didn't fulfil my needs. Many seemed to only wear the shoe for about a day if that. All the shoes are comfortable and all the shoes look great. NOT! I decided to just give it a try myself and spend the next 30 days wearing one pair of shoes, the Jordan MA2, and give a review of the shoe after it's been through a little more than a grocery run or theme park day with the kids. |

| body | The world is opening up again. My friend scored some free tickets to last night’s Dodgers vs Diamondbacks baseball game. My friend was so happy to be at the debut for Pujols and so she wore her shoes which she noticed the Dodgers have won every wearing last night included. It was a fun experience we had to wear our masks (due to COVID-19) while we were walking around the stadium but you are allowed to eat and go without at your seat. I have already been vaccinated so I’m not too worried about getting sick. We had fun and it’s great to see Los Angeles getting back to before 2020. |

| body | I am on the final step of getting a transplant. I have another round of doctor visits, but I was assured this year could be the year I get a transplant. The last time I met with my doctors they told me I couldn't lift more than ten pounds and it was like a shot to the chest. They told me I was a high risk for bleeding and that I would need to cut back on working out. Great, I guess that means I'll be drawing a lot more. |

dlothemartianpublished a new post: stress-journal

| author | dlothemartian |
| body | I started journaling to keep my stress down. I like to pretend I am having a conversation with another me. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I needed a real outlet for my current misery. My mom is driving me nuts. I am trying my best to be patient and keep myself from losing my cool, but with my health failing I just feel like I need her to try more. To continue to be independent. I wish I had the money to give her a house and make sure she had a caregiver, but the truth is she doesn't need a caregiver and no matter how many times I suggested purchasing a home she told me, "When I retire I'll buy a home with Larry." well Larry is gone and my mom was forced into retirement and is now living with me. The stress of suddenly having to take care of my mother is really getting to me in a way I never thought it would. Since starting the journal I've found myself being more patient with my mother and talking to her more. I still have a hard time hanging out with my mother as I feel that will lead to her wanting me around more and I'm not trying to spend my thirties huddled up with my mother on the couch. I'm trying to get her to go out more with people her own age. To get in touch with her friends. I rarely hear her talk about the friends that she had while working or when I was growing up. If at all. I'm not sure what to do, but for now my journal is giving me the peace of mind to be able to focus and do what I need to do to get us out of this hole. I've been saving to get us into a new place next year and to have my car paid off so I'm not carrying that bill with me to a new place either. If I have to move hopefully we can get her retirement benefits going and can purchase a home otherwise it's going to have to be an apartment in Van Nuys. I also need to get her a car while she can still drive. I'm sure that'll make it easier for her to get up and go visit friends and family without the burden of needing me. I genuinely feel heartbroken when my mom comes to ask me to take her somewhere when I want to lay down. I always do it, well I rarely say no. I also began going to TacFit again. I'm going at least three times a week and hopefully soon I can get into a rhythm and start going to BJJ again. I also changed my diet and started getting real with eating a low sodium diet. I'm not just excluding salt, I'm eating more salad and staying on top of myself to make sure I eat regularly and eat less candy. I typically eat a Lunchable in the morning instead of having candy. I'm starting to see the changes in my body and I'm hoping soon I'll have the energy and the proper health to compete in August. I just have to stay consistent and keep pushing myself to improve. I feel like doing so will also set a good example for my mother to follow. This weekend I'll get to bake so that'll be fun. I have orders for a mouse cake, blueberry muffins (vegan), and a 7-Up Cake. I might make a few extras to share and entice other orders. Works been okay we returned to our office in Upper Lot and I was fucking up my emails, having all kinds of errors and corrections on a Monday where nothing seemed to be going right for me. I took some time to refocus and came back Tuesday with a better mentality and more focus. I haven't messed one up since. It also so happened my partner mentioned complaints about it and he as usual realized I had already beaten myself up about it and sought to make a correction. I hate being the center of attention for good or bad. I try and just my job, but I always end up being the one chosen to do more work to ensure it gets done. That in turn overwhelms me and I am doing my best to remember to use my partner and delegate the work in a way they can lighten my load. I'm officially taking hold of that responsibility to lead when my partner is less experienced. Well it's been fun, but it's getting late and I agreed to go into work early. Stay safe out there and remember to tell those close to you, you love them. Cheers, -D'Lo |

"body": "I started journaling to keep my stress down. I wish I had the money to give her a house and make sure she had a caregiver, but the truth is she doesn't need a caregiver and no matter how many times I suggested purchasing a home she told me, \"When I retire I'll buy a home with Larry.\" well Larry is gone and my mom was forced into retirement and is now living with me. | body | Bored, like many others at the beginning of 2021, I decided to build a new workstation computer. I'm super happy I chose to do it. Now I'm able to get back into making digital art. I downloaded [Blender](http://blender.org), [Unreal Engine](https://www.unrealengine.com/), and well I haven't decided on a CAD and Photo Editing software. I'm sure I'll likely choose Gimp for photo editing, and pay for an AutoCAD Architecture license. We'll see though, I'm not 100% certain I'll use the CAD software just yet. For now though I like the thousands others on the [Blender doughnut Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/BlenderDoughnuts/)thread started making a doughnut with Blender Guru on YouTube. I finished the first level or the first four videos and well it's a start. I know what I should be doing, but I haven't used blender since version 1.27 and now it's on version 2.92 that's almost 3.0! I'm going to spend the next month practicing and trying to get good enough to render interiors. My icing doesn't look too great, I'm not really a modeler, but I'm trying. My specialty is hard objects like architecture. I'm going to add the sprinkles and paint on the cake to make it look more photorealistic. If you're trying to learn Blender, I recommend [Blender Guru](https://www.blenderguru.com/) he explains things well and does projects in 15-20 minute lessons. It's super easy to spend 1-2 hours and make it through an entire project. |

| body | Really awesome inspiring post! I didn’t know this was California and I’m starting to think I might want to start hiking in the Forrest a bit more. I typically city camp and hike different cities and suburbs. I’m glad I found this socalsteem community I can’t wait to post my view of SoCal. |

| body | Back in 2017 I noticed I didn’t have any cologne. Not one scent. I used to have a collection, but over the years through one way or another I managed to lose and use all my cologne. I hadn’t even bothered to keep up with what was new on the market. I began doing my research and found that like everything else there is a whole niche world of fragrance I was not aware of. I bought several colognes a few fresh scents to start. In 2017 my big purchase was a bottle of Orto Parisi Boccanera a gourmand chocolate scent. Recently I noticed I mostly had fresh citrus clean smelling scents. I began looking for something more as the months have gotten colder. I recently discovered a line of fragrances made by a company in Canada called Zoologist. Each fragrance is meant to smell like an animal’s habitat or in some cases the animal itself. I currently own Squid and now Camel. Camel has fast become my favorite fragrance for winter. I can’t stop wearing it in the cold. The bottle presentation is amazing! The cap is metal and has some weight to it. It fits snug onto the bottle so you can grab it by the cap (not suggested) and not drop the bottle. That cap is wrapped in leather and the bottle itself is crystal clear to show off the great looking juice inside. The sticker is gloss print with embossed gold trim and print. The image of the camel is a work of art. I’d love to have a small print of each animal to go with my collection. It envelopes my senses with this boozy amber accord that deepens into a dark and sensual incense. A slight animalic musk on the dry down really just makes this thing pop off my skin. I really can’t get enough of it. I’ve used a noticeable amount of my bottle already and I’m starting to worry I may need a second bottle “just in case” I don’t, that bottle of Boccanera I mentioned earlier is halfway down and I’ve had it since 2017. I’m still madly in love with camel, but I can’t wait to pick up my next bottle from Zoologist Beaver. |

| body | Today I threw away a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. I’ve been reading a book called “Less” and it’s about living a minimal lifestyle. The book doesn’t just suggest getting rid of your unused belongings, but it provides a way of moving forward and keeping the unnecessary things out of your life. It’s not just about living with less stuff but also about spending your time wisely. I never realized how much time I wasted searching for stuff or just wadding through things to get to that one item I need. Simply taking the time to put stuff away made my life so much more efficient already after only a few weeks. I went ahead and got rid of a bunch of tools and organized my clothes and the hall closet. I threw out all my old paint supplies and organized my desk to be used again. I cleaned off the patio a little and began potting my plants. I am going to setup this garden my aunt got me for Christmas tomorrow. I’m not sure what I plan on planting. I know I will plant herbs I’m just not sure which ones. |

| body | I got plants yesterday. I am going to figure out how to grow some green. I don’t have the green thumb that my grandmother has, but I keep trying and this is my latest attempt. I started making cupcakes for sale and so far everyone really loves my chocolate ganache filled cupcakes. I made the ones below dipped in ganache and it wasn’t as well received. So I’m axing it off the menu. I guess the thrill of a chocolate surprise is really exciting for the consumer. I got a new BJJ Gi and went back to training despite the COVID-19 fears. I really want to get back to being healthy looking so I have to put in the work and be healthy. I downloaded the “Gym Shark” app. It’s free and provides a lot of resources for an exercise moderate like myself. I’ve been drinking at least 2 protein shakes a day and making sure to take all the pills in my daily vitamin packs. It’s 8 pills and the four green herbal pills are the worst. They hit your throat and if they get stuck in there the dust burst out and you’re literally coughing the stuff up. If they weren’t so effective I would have sought out another daily vitamin, but these really work and I have been using them for 3 years now. The goal for this year is to keep these good habits up. It’s great that I’ve started, but this years mantra is consistency brings growth. Wish me luck! |
