| title | Contain the problem. The FUKUSHIMA Project. |
| body | This is my brainstorming session on a SOLUTION to the World Wide Catastrophy Disaster, The Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Melt Down and Continuing Radiation Problem. I will continue to research more about this broad problem. I am not the most current on todays situation. A cure would be wonderful, in the meantime we need the right solution. Idea Protect the ocean by constructing a water Dam and a tailings pond which becomes the new shore line of the damaged reactor. The reason is the contaminants are leaking into the surrounding earth, and going into the ocean and going out to sea. Maybe the island under sea level needs to be reinforced? Idea Can an oil like coconut oil contain the problem. Coconut oil is solid at room temperatures and liquid when warmed. Can it or a similar product be used to contain and suspend the dust particles? Hit it with cold to re solidify it after it has consumed the dust. Idea Solid (cold) Coconut oil does not mix with water so it may be able to act as a barrier between the contaminated earth and the manufactured tailings pond if a massive amount is used to fill part of the manufactured pond like an underwater glue patch. The oil should be solid if submerged in the tailings pond water. Will it hold to the side of the island? Maybe an Underwater rebar skeleton is needed. Expect the Patch will need to be maintained after construction. Idea Include HYDRO and WIND and SOLAR power for a massive REFRIGERATION SYSTEM to encase and cool the entire damaged reactor. Can this idea work for cooling the damaged RODS? Contain the reactor in a refrigerator or freezer. Idea Install a Salt filter system to filter the tailings pond water. The idea is Converting it to a usable material to cool the RODS. Pump the water back to the reactor to help cool. Idea Build a second manufactured dam to contain everything again double protecting the ocean. Idea How do you contain the radiation? If you can make the tailings pond idea a fresh water lake between the ocean and the reactor can the lake be frozen and maintained that way? Would this help? Idea Contain the contamination from leaching into the earth. Build a moat around the damaged reactor and fill it with a non penetratable substance. ? Frozen Coconut Oil ? Inject under the ground below the reactor to create a barrier to contain the problem under the reactor. Idea After the radiation problem is managed, can the loose radiation energy be harnessed with a device that can power the refrigeration system? Can the heat radiation from the damaged nuclear rods power a engine like a locomotive steam engine to work a heat exchanger (heat pump) which could cool the reactor? Idea Manufacture radiation barriers and then install them on site. Idea Wind-up power. (Like wind up cars for kids.) Spools that can be wound, creating tension like a wind up spring. Used in place of batteries in applications like solar panel power storage. Several could be used with a transmission switch that would change to the next spool. They wind up like a tension spool with a spring. Once it is completely turned all the way there is a stop to hold the tension until needed. Such similar ideas can be seen with the old Toys technologies in the Starcom Space sets as well as Transformers Zone characters Roadfire and Sonic Bomber from Japan. A friction motor seen in Tonka Hot Rod car toys has a release button after the motor has been wound. The car speeds forward. Another example of this is a wrist watch has A small knob that winds the gears inside applying tension to a spring. The spring tension powers the wrist watch until it is needing to be wound (turned) again. This is a source of renewable energy which can also be stored. When you pull the small knob on the watch it disengaged the winder and engages the hand adjustment. Solar panels could power the hand turning aspect of the wrist watch dials to power other needed powered items. Questions -Is this a usable solution? -What is the worst case scenario should this solution fail? -Is the radiation too hot for the solution to work? -How long will the solution work? -What aspects are necessary? -Which parts need to be adjusted for this solution to work? Notes I am not a scientist so do not take my words literal, they are only suggestions. My wish is to get the correct solution in motion. After watching the work done on the new manufactured cover and installation over the Chernbyl Power Plant Reactor in Ukraine to contain the Nuclear Meltdown Site there I am hopeful that we may be able to remedy this big problem in Japan. Please write your own comments. |

| title | Vinyl Music Records Separating the DJ from the Collector. |
| body | Gotham Collectibles, and now Gotham Radio, pretty much started because of vinyl records. Way back before the shop was a concept we were underground DJs in search of collectible records. We would purchase rare records off of eBay after scouting them on discogs. This was long before most people had cell phones. My first cell phone was a Mitsubishi with an antenna off the top. We would play the records in our local music scene at the house party's, clubs and outdoor music gatherings. It was very uncommon for people to play records in the late 90's and into the 2000's because new music was expensive and rare in the record format. Most stores sold CD discs, however, the technology to play CD as a performance DJ was not advanced enough yet to be attractive. The desired characteristics were not in place when compared with the Technics 1200 turntable. With a vinyl record player turntable you had analog control with your finger tips and it was unmatched. We all sought out the best dance music on record vinyl format. DJs rarely used computers because the interface technology supplimenting a track to the turntable was not consumer available yet. The standard music format for DJ was a true stack of vinyl records. The DJ had to keep the playlist records in order, sorting them while playing a set. Usually by the end of the night several records were in the wrong sleeves and a few records loose among the stack. They we're carried around in record bags or crates. Each track weighed to the load you had to take with you. The idea of playing music to a crowd is a big part of popular culture. However, there are more records than you can listen to. So when listeners find an artist they like they usually will stick with them just the same as comic book readers stick with BATMAN. After a number of artists have been discovered by the dj, then they can form a set of songs. A DJ can then more or less rely on that music producer artist to supply a track similar to their last work as a new release. This way I realized I could perfect the formula for a set of songs, and just upgrade it with new releases from the same artists. So after years of collecting releases you end up with various similar sets of music each set composed of slightly older songs. These artist names, and more specifically the tracks became that specific DJs trademark and a DJ would essentially make a name for themselves finding crowd pleasing tracks and playing them to an audience, building their fans. If a DJ is a magician then their songs are their magic spells. The names or sources of their power were usually kept secret. As time goes on and you still DJ, your music collection grows. Eventually you end up with the music of other DJ s who have given up the hobbie. Their amazing tracks become yours. If you are at the right place at the right time you can get all the tracks from a retiring DJ. Their magic becomes yours. Their entire DJ career has been about the secret music in their record crate and for some reason they are parting with it regardless of the hours spent looking through the music. Really though, The track having a good sound is really only one reason people like to collect vinyl records. A record really only gets played when someone goes through the effort to put it on so most of the time they really just sit around. Probably the number one reason records are collectible is because of their art, design aspect, or visual appearance. Some records also have gimics to promote their collectiblitlity. One of the most classic gimmick to sell a record is to sell it in a limited edition color vinyl or picture record. Furthermore some records have even been di-cut into other shapes. The oldest record collectors look for records from an era that is long past that have an original sound. Like book collectors, they prefer the first edition, or first print, or first pressing shunning the remastered copies. There are lots of collectors of signatures, and records have always been a great form of memorabilia to get a signature on from your favorite star. These most collectible of records gets lost over time and get mixed with rare DJ records and popular hits and old favorites and the new stack and the used bin that just came in and before you know it they are everywhere so they get put back into bins now unsorted. The collectors end up with too many and the records start to look like comic books which start to look like collectible cards which look like books which nobody wants. After a few years they go to the thrift store for new enthusiastic DJs to find. The trick is to get rid of most of them. The records that don't appeal to you any longer. At the very least keep a record bag seperate from your collection as your performance DJ records. That way when your hand goes for a record it will not matter what one it is. It will sound to your crowd like it is possibly the best music they could be listening to right now. So, ultimately the best DJ is not a completist collector because they don't have to sort through the good. They only have the best. As time goes on DJ technology changes. It moved to CD players to media players of all shapes and sizes. Now we play computer file format songs that have been analyzed with software on space ship looking controllers so we can cruise through a set at an unbelievable rate with skills incomprehensible to a retired DJ of 20 years ago. All the tracks fit on a thumb drive. Through all the changes, there really has always remained the basic records on the Technics 1200, and really once you have that you don't need an update ever. There are more records out there than you can listen to in your life time. Other technologies fade and song files get lost. You can always put that record back on and add another weight on the HEADSHELL to get it to play. |

| title | Legacy of Diaclone Adventure World |
| body | The Diaclone Adventure World toy line is nearly 40 years old. This was possibly the most carefully designed toy line ever made. I see now Takara has been releasing a reboot series to remember Diaclone. I have seen some of the photos, they are pretty advanced concepts compared to any run of the mill products sold at Toys R Us. It is great to see Takara releasing new Big Powered toys, continuing their tradition through the ages. Just looking at the new Waruder Alien sets really brings your imagination into play. As well, the Beast Saga reboot of Battle Beasts was a great come back for the legendary Beastformers series which is still a favorite of nostalgia collectors today. I even sold some full case lots, selling off my Beast Saga investment after enjoying the release and checking out the contents. I am so deep into the original TAKARA from the 1980s that I will have to stick with the vintage releases and let the new collectors enjoy the new Diaclone reboot. Diaclone is kind of a secret in the collectors world, a realm you only learn about after you have put the time and effort in for the discovery to take place. I was interested in Diaclone only after I was gifted 3 car robots by an old Japanese man. At that point in my life I was pretty excited about vintage Transformers from Japan. My work research at that time was on new toys to bring in for the store and we had been selling the new release Transformers weekly. I was on the right road towards Diaclone City. Ultimately original Diaclone toys are too rare and valuable to sell at a retail level. Collectors save up for them and are not able to make very many purchases. They are more like museum pieces. That's probably the reason for the reboot, is to just give the world a reminder of the long legacy of the TAKARA brand, and now with Transformers more popular than ever. Anyone interested in collecting toys could really save up for the original Great Robot Base. They would own the pinnacle of robot art. Most collectors don't even get to that point. Usually they hoard the Diaclone Car Auto Robots, specifically the variants from the Transformers G1 series, and that keeps them so occupied that they never get to the earlier future space toys that were at war vs the alien Waruders. Yeah, the Auto Robots really are in such a pleasing box format, how can you not keep building your stack. Price points are all over the place for the most rare. Thousands can easily be spent for a Car Auto Robot as they can be so rare the opportunity to purchase them is nearly non existant. Many can be even more valuable than original Japanese Laser Beasts. Wow. Robot collecting is a great investment for anyone living in the city. Vancouver is full of robot toy collectors. Each collector filling their bedroom closet with boxes of vintage takara robots in their original boxes. Living in the city, in a 1 or 2 bedroom, it is a fun investment hobbie that makes the collector happy, as there is limited space for clunky purchases like old vehicles, loud motorbikes, and sinking boats. Your saved auto insurance money turns into an investment instead. My favorite of the original Diaclone toys is Fortress X. For me I believe it is the interface that is so pleasing. The genious of the mechanical mechanism which lifts the figures into the control room, along with the toys city base mode presents a stimulating experience. When you have enough vintage Diaclone for a multi part set up, you are presented with a model scale of the most futurist city I have ever seen. Much like an architect will make a model of a building to present their idea to a panel meeting. Even today, interacting with the toy pushes the imagination to come up with cutting edge images allowing for grand new ideas to be conceived. Funny how it is just a toy. As your Diaclone city comes together you are able to enter the world finding that you are partaking in an advanced society full of wonderous technology. I know you are only looking down upon the city, like a god might over a world they are building, however all of a sudden when you go to play a record on your Technics 1200 turntable, you notice the player suddenly has architectural attributes. You think, It's not a turntable but a super colider. In my every day tasks, I ask myself what do they do in the futuristic Diaclone world to make this work easier? I should do that. I laugh now as I realize that it is Lego City that I have been comparing to Diaclone City in my mind. Lego City was futuristic once a long time ago with the original space sets.... Since then it has become muddled with everything else. I think it's the pegs making Lego so unattractive, it really goes against a sleak design and therefore doesn't promote futurist thinking very well. Comparatively every single Lego peg is bigger than a Diaclone figures head making Lego City very clunky. It's as if Lego wants a viewer to ignore the lack of details, where you can't help but appreciate the fine details within the scale of Diaclone. Careful mixing your vintage Diaclone with the new reboot ones. The new sets remind me of designs from modern war video games. They are completely in a different style. They don't look like the same quality. It would be all to easy to let them discourage a collector from the entire line once they are mixed with the original series. To me it is like throwing in a Lego set to the City display and trying to argue that it works. Diaclone may be Earth in another 150 years. To me it a sad fate, even with their technological wonders it seems like they are a lost cold existence, for there are no animals and it shows in the designs. No Diaclone dogs or cats to go with the humanoid figures. I add my Liokaiser GIFT SET from the Transformers Victory series, the one that comes with the 6 animal 'breast force' companion figures in the scale of Diaclone. Here is my favorite TAKARA release of all. It contrasts Diaclone City. That from even another world, advanced technology was achieved while becoming best friends with the wild life of its planet. Is Liokaiser really that evil, or is it that Diaclone world has a hard time facing the fact that they must have obliterated their animal kingdom in pursuit of their technology. At the same time, Liokaiser glorifies their animal friends. If you can get your hands on some of the SD Battle Beasts, they are great to ad to your Diaclone world as they help present a future society where we work together with the wild life. Well you could just add some of those little plastic farm animals I guess, but they would be off brand. The original Waruder Alien sets lend another aspect to the Diaclone frontier. You can see the pilots have animal insect concepts for their vehicles. This idea once again plays with the organic technology idea. Are the ships actually organic insect animal robots with sentient intelligence? This is a concept that was brought forth more recently in a similiar way with the Star Wars universe novels about the Yuuzhan Vong. This is where Liokaiser fits in best with the Waruder Pilots and Warudaros. Furthermore the Transformers continuum always references the Emperor Of Destruction. While Unicron is one of these legendary Evils, the most ancient must be Death King from the Microman Toy line. The pilot of Death King was after all the first TAKARA figure on the Diaclone pilot scale. Once you really get into a collection you can get carried away so it is a good idea to stay focused. You can after all only spend your money once. Finally aquiring this Microman Punch Robo was almost started a whole new line for me. Now I look at the Captain Harlock sets by TAKARA from the 1970s. It looks like the ships are perfectly on scale with Death King and the Was used Aliens. |

The genious of the mechanical mechanism which lifts the figures into the control room, along with the toys city base mode presents a stimulating experience.\n\n\n\nWhen you have enough vintage Diaclone for a multi part set up, you are presented with a model scale of the most futurist city I have ever seen. Much like an architect will make a model of a building to present their idea to a panel meeting.\n\n\n\nEven today, interacting with the toy pushes the imagination to come up with cutting edge images allowing for grand new ideas to be conceived. You think, It's not a turntable but a super colider.\n\n\n\nIn my every day tasks, I ask myself what do they do in the futuristic Diaclone world to make this work easier? I should do that.\n\nI laugh now as I realize that it is Lego City that I have been comparing to Diaclone City in my mind. It's as if Lego wants a viewer to ignore the lack of details, where you can't help but appreciate the fine details within the scale of Diaclone.\n\n\n\nCareful mixing your vintage Diaclone with the new reboot ones. The new sets remind me of designs from modern war video games. They are completely in a different style. They don't look like the same quality. It would be all to easy to let them discourage a collector from the entire line once they are mixed with the original series. To me it is like throwing in a Lego set to the City display and trying to argue that it works.\n\nDiaclone may be Earth in another 150 years. To me it a sad fate, even with their technological wonders it seems like they are a lost cold existence, for there are no animals and it shows in the designs. No Diaclone dogs or cats to go with the humanoid figures.\n\n\n\nI add my Liokaiser GIFT SET from the Transformers Victory series, the one that comes with the 6 animal 'breast force' companion figures in the scale of Diaclone. Well you could just add some of those little plastic farm animals I guess, but they would be off brand.\n\nThe original Waruder Alien sets lend another aspect to the Diaclone frontier. The pilot of Death King was after all the first TAKARA figure on the Diaclone pilot scale.\n\n\n\n\n\nOnce you really get into a collection you can get carried away so it is a good idea to stay focused. You can after all only spend your money once. Finally aquiring this Microman Punch Robo was almost started a whole new line for me. Now I look at the Captain Harlock sets by TAKARA from the 1970s. It looks like the ships are perfectly on scale with Death King and the Was used Aliens.\n\n\n\n",

| title | DJ Turntables Start With The Basics |
| body | So many turntables have hit the market over the years I can imagine it must be frustrating for new DJ to know what to spend their money on. Back when I started scratching, the ideal setup was to DJ on Technic SL 1200 Turntables with collected vinyl records as the music format. I was 16 year old and that was a whole lot of money I wasn't going to have any time soon. Once you added in some turntable cases and a pair of scratch needles and a decent mixer, you were looking at a $3000 setup. Lots of cash for the 90's and you had not even purchased any music yet. I have outlined my favorite DJ Turntables that a DJ could consider as a first time setup. A lot of people just need a basic setup to learn the fundamentals of mixing. It's a good idea to build the listening skill of beat matching in order to Mix Live during a performance or else a DJ can get confused with what is going on over the speakers with multiple songs playing. A basic modern turntable setup is a set of 2 DIRECT DRIVE turntables. There are many brands. I remember DJ Holly Tree started on my old Gemini turntables I had gotten from DJ Kid Kemizt. DJ Ferocious ( Miffy Wilde ) started with Numark turntables. When I met her she had been hanging out with the Vast Crew Breakdancers. Amazing DJ Norma K first turntables were the Vestax brand. Another brand I remember is American DJ. -BASIC TURNTABLE SETUP $400 Setup STANTON STR8-60 The Stanton STR8-60 Turntable set was my second DJ setup. Back in 2001 this was mostly what I played on with The Blond Bay DJ, and DJ Street Justice. They were $400 Each new and I took them everywhere. This is a inexpensive setup. It has all the controls you need to beat match and scratch like a professional DJ. It has a straight tone ARM so you can scratch without the NEEDLE SKIPPING with the standard Stanton Needle CARTRIDGE and HEADSHELL setup. The motor is not high torque, so you really have to pull and push the record with your hands. I recommend making a wax paper scratch mat to put under the slip mat for best performance. For beat matching the pitch slider goes to +-10 where the Technics 1200 goes to +-8 so there is a greater speed variation range. The blue LED lights are very cool and the RCA are gold. These turntables are in great working order. They are like 17 years old. -$500 Basic CD PLAYER SETUP. PIONEER CDJ800MK2 The majority of my DJ career I have played on my PIONEER CDJ 800MK2 setup. These turntables are fantastic. My best cash ever spent. They have way more features than a basic setup so they may be overwhelming at first. I picked up my set of 2, used, for $1100 Back in 2007. Now 11 years later they are still fully functional. The secret is that they are much better than the 800MK1. The scratch platter mechanism on the 800mk2 is the same as on the PIONEER CDJ2000NXS. It only does not have as fancy of lights or as high resolution screen. Once you get used to the PIONEER CDJ800MK2 you can play on the club standard setup because the control interface is the same. Earlier CDJs may have the old scratch wheel. Each CDJ800MK2 has a built in loop sampler. You can sample at least 32 beats counts. A discontinued feature on other models is the 4 buttons AUTO BEAT. Its more like SAMPLE CUT to cut and divide the sampled loop into half, quarter, double, and single sections. Also discontinued is the QUICK RETURN sample button which I'm pretty sure is completely left out on later CDJ turntables and totally a awesome trick. You can create unique sample builds with this turntable on the fly. It's a whole lot of fun to use with your old CD collection. The Pitch slider is great. With store bought CDs you can slow the bpm speed right to zero. With the auto pitch button on, the song will still be playing in the correct key no matter what the speed is. The vocal still sounds good. CD are super cheap at thrift stores and contain a lot of music. Very rarely do I find an old CD will not play through even when scratched. You can also set cue points in the memory of the sampler and store them for performing practiced sets. Anyways there is a lot to talk about with these turntables. The MK2 will play mp3 CDs. So you can load up two, 80 track mp3 CDs and just practice with those. Just find 160 tracks you like. Oh yeah and don't forget to press the VINYL button on the right side to activate the scratch platter. Always play the CDJ in VINYL mode. The best part is how mobile these are. One under each ARM and your ready to go. Or throw them into your old record bags for transport. SUPER STYLE SETUP $3600 PIONEER CDJ900NXS I had been playing on my old PIONEER CDJ800MK2 setup for 10 years before I finally upgraded to the PIONEER CDJ900NXS set. I saw Krafty Kuts and Dynamite MC play the show locally and I have to say Krafty Kuts set was so cool that I bought a new DJ setup the next week. Krafty Kuts was mixing with 4 CDJs and had all his tracks Analyzed and Quantized with Rekordbox. It sounded like he had even set all his cue points and beatgrids. This was some pretty heavy work which takes a few years of computer work with the Rekordbox computer software specifically if you have a large selection of tracks. You then send your tracks to a USB drive that plugs into the turntable and leave the computer at home. So I hunted out a deal on the PIONEER CDJ900NXS and picked a set of 2 locally from Long N Mcquaid for $2500. This was a lot of cash. I realized that I totally scored because they are a rare turntable to aquire and currently the price is around $3600 for a pair. I was nearing my 20 years of DJing and realized I would have them for 10 years at least so as long as I used them it was a great investment in my future as a DJ. The CDJ900NXS is the newer setup than the CDJ2000NXS. It's like they improved the setup yet again, this time without the light ring around the scratch platter. So I was on my way to mixing like Krafty Kuts I just needed to learn the Rekordbox software and how to load up some USB drives with playlists full of analyzed tracks. That took about a year. Now I have a massive collection of playlists full of analyzed tracks that are quantized. Maybe I will get a chance to set the cue points correct so I can accurately mix with 4 CDJs later next year. I have a lot of songs. Although initially I had been excited by the CDJ900NXS having the AUTO SYNCH button, I get that once you have put the time in to analyze your tracks and set your cue points your listening skills would be good enough to never use it, even with 4 Turntables. Still maybe one day I'll find a use for it. The new design of the CDJ900NXS has a flat screen while the older CDJ900 has a tilted screen. The sampler on the CDJ900NXS is pretty cool. It's very similar to the CDJ800MK2. They removed the QUICK RETURN button and put in a SLIP SCRATCH button. It's kind of gimmicky, but it could make a novice scratcher sound good. The beat Automatically goes back in place after your scratch so if you don't have good listen skills then it's a fail safe like the AUTO SYNCH. The AUTO BEAT (SAMPLE CUTTER) interface from the CDJ800MK2 was moved to below the screen on the CDJ900NXS and now the buttons remix your looped sample in a new unique way. They call it SLIP LOOP. I've had a lot of fun with it although with the change of interface from the old CDJs I had to relearn some tricks because they actually changed the button location and names of some of the features. Playing the guitar actually made me better at the sampler. You have to press the sample buttons to the beat in order for the sampler to be seamless. Pressing the correct button sequences you can create unique remix builds with a lot of practice. I picture it similar to mastering a solo lead on the electric guitar. Some tricks work great chained together while others crash the build and ultimately jumble your mix with the second track. Practice is how figure it out. The CDJ900NXS is really the Cadillac of DJing. If you are just starting out though they will look like the pilot controls of an alien space craft to you, and it might take 5 years to learn all of the controls and options with them. A lot of new DJ will start with a setup that is too advanced for their skill set basically paying for a fancy options that they don't understand. CLASSIC SETUP $?????? TECHNICS 1200MK2 The Technics 1200 MK2 IS the classic standard. They are the original 'WHEELS OF STEEL' turntable. The MK2 were originally released in 1978. If you can find a pair, you will have the original professional top of the line turntable setup without any of the extra controls to confuse a new DJ. These are great to learn on and once you are used to the high torque direct drive motor you will have a hard time playing on anything cheaper. They have become highly collectible. Over the years, the finish on the turntable yellows with use and the TONE ARM is quite delicate, so they break easily. The motor speeds and brake controls sometimes need to be fixed. It is more and more rare to find an all original 'WHEELS OF STEEL' set with light use. There are shops like LOTUSLAND ELECTRONICS in Vancouver which takes old Technics Turntables and refinishes them selling them again for $1000. The Technics SL 1200 Turntable with the classic flight cases. 2 of these make up a very heavy DJ setup to cart around. Still when you hit the house party with your enterage and 'THE WHEELS OF STEEL' in flight cases. Everyone knows they are in for a good show. This particular set was originally owned by an old friend DJ Aaron West (BYOB) who DJ'd with James 'Broadhead' Cameron on Vancouver Island back in the 1990's. I found them at the Courtenay Pawn Shop in an old neighborhood where I used to DJ in college. They were in their Flight Cases under an old printer. It was crazy because I recognized the setup from the stickers on the cases. I had not seen them for 13 years. I was lucky to learn to beat match in high school. I was renting a house with DJ Kid Kemizt who was fortunate to save his cash to have purchased a new set of Technics SL 1200 MK3 Turntables with the Orange Flight Cases. At 16 years old DJ Kid Kemizt was able to perform his first club with DJ Jay Dee in Campbell River at the old Animals Club next to Cougars Bar. The standard Scratch Needles and Cartridge to play with the Technics is the Sure M447. They are pricey, you really can purchase a used basic turtable setup for the same price. We used to use the Stanton SK2 Cartridge & Needles and then stack some coins on the HEADSHELL for some extra weight. A GREAT SETUP $600 VESTAX PDX 2000 The VESTAX PDX 2000 Turntables are awesome. DJ Mike Jack and also Amazing DJ Norma K purchased these setups nearly 20 years ago and they are both still in use today. They have the high torque direct drive motor, and the straight tone ARM so they are ideal for scratching. They also have a reverse button and a wide pitch range with 2 speed sliders. VESTAX used to be the top of the line DJ equipment through the 2000s until PIONEER took hold. The VESTAX PDX 2000 Turntables are no longer widely known so you can find them for a great price when compared to the Technics SL 1200. Their performance capabilities are comparative and they weigh a lot less. Conclusion I know everyone has their Pioneer or Traktor DJ surf board all in one setup these days. It seems like they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Unfortunately when one part breaks you have to replace the whole unit. It like buying a new mixer and 2 turntables every time 1 turntable needs a repair. Everyone is also carting their laptops around which was a fad I never understood. Why do you want to look like, you are on your laptop is entertaining to your dance crowd? These changes in the DJ community make it hard for DJ to play music together without having big switch overs during the night and gaps in the music. We all used to play records on turntables and you had to mix into the track that was playing, This ensured the music didn't stop. We used to play 2's and 3's (2 or 3 tracks) and then pass the set to the next DJ. You would throw it down again on your next round in the next hour or so. All the DJ's would get to play so everyone would show up. The Clubs standard setup now and for a while has been the PIONEER CDJ2000 turntable and they are super expensive for a home setup. Just make sure you can play on them and if you don't have your tracks on USB yet you can just bring 2 CD discs. I was going to try Serato out finally but Rekordbox is free and I've been pretty happy with it so far. |

Just make sure you can play on them and if you don't have your tracks on USB yet you can just bring 2 CD discs.\nI was going to try Serato out finally but Rekordbox is free and I've been pretty happy with it so far.",
