The book is called Quietation, Quietening the Mind: The Return to Yourself.  And it’s available now in paperback and eBook format at Amazon.com.\n\nQuietation, as I mentioned earlier, is the meditative aspect of the Divine Law. It’s how the philosophy’s practitioners, to use a more familiar word, meditate. The practice is called Quietation because its purpose is to quieten the body and mind. Practitioners don’t meditate; they quietate! \n\nNow, the word Quietation might seem cutesy, like a play on the words quiet and meditation, but it is a word in its own right. A noun, it means The action of quieting, the state of being quieted or quiet, peace. Although rarely used, the word Quietation has been around since the 16th century.\n\nLike meditation, Quietation reduces stress, relieves anxiety, calms our demeanor, and enhances our focus. So, why Quietation and not meditation? What’s the difference? \n\nWell, both are tools, and though they are similar, like all tools, they each have a specific purpose. The purpose of Quietation is to quiet the body and mind to facilitate a return to our true self, which is our connection to God’s Divine Essence. In simpler terms, Quietation helps to return us to the state where we can hear God’s guidance.\n\nThe book posits the premise that the personas we display, our social and religious indoctrination, and the responsibility of everyday living, fills our mind with noise, and prevents us from recognizing God’s guidance, through His Divine Essence, when we hear it within.\n\nI’m quoting now from the introduction:   \n\n “We all have a core sense of self. Of whom we think we are. The ideal person we believe ourselves to be. But we rarely, if ever, encounter or experience that person. If that person exists, it lies buried, and perhaps, even lost, beneath myriad personalities. \nIn every aspect of our lives, we play many roles. Some we create, some others create for us. Some are appealing to others, and some, drive others away. All of them, however, contribute to how we interact with other people.” Unquote.\n\nLater, in the introduction, Derek writes: \n\n“Almost from birth, forces beyond our control subject us to what is, in essence, indoctrination. We conform to societal norms, accept our parent’s religion, and follow a predetermined educational standard. Our social status and the mores of our society shape our thinking. As well as control our behavior and transforms us into the person that will best enable us to thrive. And sometimes, we lose the person we are in the transformation.”\n\nThe book explains that the origin of Quietation is rooted in the Divine Law’s principle that humankind does not discern, share, or experience God as a collective, but as a personal experience; which firmly separates the reason to quietate, from why many, meditate.\n\nDerek presents a solid argument for the inherent presence of God’s Divine Essence within and offers exercises designed to reenable our natural ability to recognize it when we hear it. \n\nAll-in-all Quietation is a fascinating read, and I highly recommend it.\n\nSo, while you’re thinking about it, pop over to amazon.com and purchase the paperback or the eBook. Beginning with slave owners, who pulled long-held traditional beliefs of tribal Africa and Islam from the memories of their Black property like they were weeds in a field; To Black pastors who continue to perpetuate their former master’s indoctrination of fear by encouraging their followers to trust in a white deity and a biblical library that does not address the struggles of Black People, Black Americans continue to turn to the doctrines of Christianity in search of salvation.\n\nBut why do most Black Americans, the sons, and daughters of America’s slaves, still embrace Christianity? A religion whose doctrines have sanctioned the torture and killing of our ancestors by the thousands? Whose leaders have encouraged the government to pass laws that denied our right to quality education; suppressed our right to vote; and marginalized our political presence by incarcerating our young men by the millions?\n\nIn a sense, a Black American who identifies as a Christian is comparable to a Jew who identifies as a Nazi. The difference, however, is the Jew would instinctively recognize, that to do so, is wrong.\n\n𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚\n\nToday, with the upheaval of change, the likes of which has not been experienced in modern times inching ever closer, Black America stands at a historic crossroad. We can either continue as we have: free in body and mind, but enslaved economically and politically, and socially shackled, living in fear waiting on a messiah, or we can change direction and work to free ourselves from the political and religious bonds which have thus far, prevented us from strengthening the economic and political foundation of our community.\n\nHowever, we cannot begin to change our direction, until we recognize that the suppression of Black America is rooted in the politics of Evangelical Christianity, and perpetuated, by the power and influence of Black Christian Churches. And though it might seem counterintuitive, we must accept that “salvation” for Black America, does not lie within the Christian church, Black or otherwise, but outside of it!\n\nBefore I continue, I want to make it clear that I’m not advocating an “us versus them” mentality or attitude. Moreover, it is not my intention to convey the idea that we should regard White people or any other people as enemies. What I am saying, is that America’s slave owners forced Christianity on their slaves, and used it to stifle their education, and later, when they were free, their economic growth, and their political power.\n\nConsequently, it stands to reason that if we continue to practice the Christian religion, today’s Christian leaders, through indoctrination, fear, and the promise of prosperity, will continue to impose their religion on the Black community. And to prevent the erosion of their current political status, use the power of Christianity’s influence to stifle our education, our political power, and our economic growth!\n\n𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬\n\nSo, what can we do? I am not so naïve to think that what I write here will motivate Blacks to leave their churches in droves and turn inward to repair their communities. Even those communities that have been blighted by drugs, high crime, and joblessness. Although to do so, would be a positive step toward improving the lives of the people who live in them.\n\nFor some, to step away from Christianity would be impossible. Its roots run deep; and in predominately Black communities, deeper still. The best I can hope for at this juncture is that what I write might inspire some to seek and accept the truth of the reality in which we live, and then, use what they have learned to improve themselves, and other people.\n\nIf the Black community is to survive as a viable and equal aspect of American society, we cannot expect, nor depend, on the mindset of its Elder generation to achieve that goal. The Elder generation has been molded by hundreds of years of indoctrination which has created fears, based on the belief in an unproven reality and life after death, that no amount of convincing will eradicate. In effect, they are still, in mind and spirit, slaves!\n\nHowever, whether American society will continue to treat Black people as slaves in the coming future, will depend on whether the Black community continues to allow the Christian church to influence the minds of its younger generations.\n\n𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡\n\nTherein, lies the key. Who will educate and influence the minds of our children? Their status and level of influence in the future might depend more than we will ever realize, on how we answer that question!\n\nTo educate our children, however, is not enough. If they are to be successful, we must not only teach them; we must free them from the bondage woven into the beliefs of Christianity and focus them on the truth of the reality in which we live.\n\nAlthough many Black people have achieved wealth, and political positions, as a community, Blacks still lag behind much of American society in economic strength and political power. We have, by no means, reached the pinnacle of our potential.\n\nMoreover, with companies positioning Artificial Intelligence (AI) to replace human labor in the future, if we do not act now to guide our children into professions that will not be adversely affected by the AI onslaught, our current level of economic and political strength will erode beyond recovery.\n\nMy message to you is that we are running out of time. We no longer live in a world where a high school diploma is sufficient for obtaining a factory job with good pay and benefits. To continue to teach Black children as many have learned: trust in Jesus, and the Lord will provide, will not prepare them for the reality they will encounter in the future, where the competition will be ferocious, and the jobs will be few.\n\nAlthough there is nothing we can do that will ensure our children’s future success, we can give them, in this here, and in this now, a better opportunity to achieve it, by releasing them from the bonds of Christianity. The bonds that continue to keep our community shackled, as slaves.",

Though they say they love their god—and go to church, worship; petition and pray for health and prosperity—most religious followers know science has long since disproved many of the claims of their Holy Books. They hold on to their beliefs, not out of conviction, but because they are comfortable in their traditions, and because fear, instilled through long-term indoctrination, keeps them from replacing their religion’s dogma, with the truth.\n\nOne can even argue that most people who claim to believe in a god, do not! And have long since gotten over the notion that their god is all-powerful, all-seeing, and all-knowing.\n\nReligion has become a business. Its gods are its product. Its believers—by paying tithes and offerings—its customers.\n\n**The Measure of Success**\n\nThe history of humankind is a bloodstained canon filled with heinous and vile acts committed around the world that have gone unpunished. Many of these actions, committed in the name of a god.\n\nIf human behavior is the measure of success, then the teachings of the world’s religions, have been ineffective. If the gods that represent them are omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, these gods have not used their powers to convince us to conduct ourselves in a manner such power should demand. And if people believed their god could punish them for their misdeeds and sins, they wouldn’t do most of the things they do.\n\nI would be remiss if I did not acknowledge that billions of people around the world consider themselves to be devout in their beliefs and make great sacrifices in their lives to serve their god. They believe—and live what they believe.\n\nHowever, I would be just as remiss, if I did not point out that some of the same people, do not tolerate the religious beliefs of others—and are complicit when other groups persecute those who don't believe as they do.\n\n**No Belief More Valid Than Another**\n\nIf we accept that Christians who kill doctors that perform abortions are devout. And that the god they worship sanctions murder; supports bigotry; the bombing of buildings, and other heinous and illegal acts in support of their faith. Then we are also obliged to accept, that the followers of militant Islam, are also devout. And that the actions they’ve taken: beheading soldiers, journalist, and foreign workers; destroying cultural heritage sites and artifacts; torturing and executing homosexuals; enslaving and raping female non-believers—and myriad other atrocities—were all commanded and sanctioned, by *their* god.\n\nThe gods that represent the world’s religions are what their followers want them to be. And what they want them to be is not always realistic or rational. The beliefs and doctrines of one religion, are no more valid than the beliefs and doctrines held by another.\n\n**Created by Men**\n\nNot one of the world's thousands of religions has ever shown testable and provable evidence that supports the veracity of its claims about its god. Upon examination, we can quickly conclude that the gods of the world’s religions are gods created by men in the image of men. They are jealous, vindictive, ruthless, vain, and like the men who created them, sometimes loving, benevolent, and forgiving.\n\nThey are the gods that sit on thrones in realms we can only conjure in our imaginations; that control the wind and the rain; gods that live in the fires of volcanoes; that heal through the hands of human prophets and provide convenient parking spaces.\n\nTheir omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence ring false and exist only in the claims of their followers. It is not reflected by the numbers that swiftly scroll across video displays announcing the value of its stocks and bonds. Or held in the safes, deeds of property, and futures investments, of its wealthiest citizens. The wealth of a nation is its children. Which, when properly nurtured, will yield a more lucrative return than all other investments combined.\n\nA nation’s children build on its past and lay the foundation for its future. They are the voice that will outline and debate its future policies, the hands that will sign them into law, and the face its citizens will praise or blame when those policies succeed or fail. A nation that does not attend to the health, welfare, and needs of its children, or does not protect them from harm, is a nation whose future existence, is in jeopardy!\n\nToday, the United States stands on the brink of becoming that nation. Its future, balanced between its action or inaction, in [response](https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2018/02/22/after-silence-on-parkland-nra-pushes-back-against-law-enforcement-the-media-and-gun-control-advocates/?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_nra-1132am:homepage/story&utm_term=.55f59030a148) to the damage and destruction gun violence, has inflicted upon our children. We can no longer make the contradictory claim that we love them, while our insistence that our right to own a gun, outweighs their right, to live!\n\nWe are a partisan nation; that hides its divisions in plain sight. That does not address them until they boil-over and cause irreparable harm. Then pretends to fix them while ignoring their root-cause.\n\nIf we loved our children, we would feed those who are poor, without complaint. We would redirect some of the money we spend on weapons systems, to provide quality healthcare, safe schools, and marketable educations that will enable them to succeed and lead productive lives.\n\nWe would enact safeguards to prevent a family’s financial ruin when an illness creates high medical bills. And we would prosecute to the fullest extent any adult, who allows a child to die because their religious beliefs call for faith through prayer, rather than medical care.\n\nThe assumption that we would disrespect the religious beliefs of the parents, if we interfered in these rituals, is false. Children, do not inherit their parent's religious beliefs.\n\nMany of you might be angry about what I’m saying. How dare you say I do not love my children! If I were accusing you of not loving *your* children, you would be right to be angry. But it is not *your* children to whom I’m referring. It is *our* children. All of them!\n\nWe can no longer sit idle while Congress cuts programs enacted to aid the poor, because the current ideology, is that we’ve given the poor too much. But allow them to increase Military spending, boost Foreign Aid, and provide tax breaks for the rich. Low-income families have children as well. And if we love *our* children, we will take care of them.  We will take care of them, all!",
