| body | [Zanzibar’s coastline](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/) boasts 350 km of coral reefs, forming a colourful oasis for both marine species and mankind. The country has been actively engaged in conserving these lovely spaces since the 1980s. As a result, you’ll find an abundance of unspoiled beaches when you visit these islands. These are the Zanzibar beaches that form the perfect add-on to your [Tanzanian safari](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/safaris/tanzania/).
1. Bwejuu Beach
[Bwejuu](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/bwejuu-paje-jambiani/) stands out as one of Zanzibar’s most outstanding sandy playgrounds. This glorious stretch of palm-fringed excellence is just an hour and a half away from all the sights of Stone Town and a must-see while exploring the area. You can’t help but experience utter relaxation in this peaceful, secluded destination, with all its surrounding attractions. These include: -Dhow boat trips -Bwejuu Village tours -Scuba diving and snorkelling -Reef safaris Nearby, [Jozani Forest](https://www.discoverafrica.com/things-to-do/zanzibar-jozani-forest-tour) beckons with scenes of natural beauty, rich folklore, rare birds, reptiles, and animals. It’s one of the few places worldwide where you might come across the red colobus monkey. According to UNESCO, Jozani Forest is a place of exceptional biodiversity. There are several top-class Zanzibar resorts around Bwejuu Beach where you can immerse yourself in this abundance, namely: -Baraza Resort and Spa -The Palms -Breezes Beach Club and Dive Centre
2. Kendwa Beach
Do you love the soothing feel of the warm Indian Ocean on your skin? [Kendwa](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/nungwi-kendwa/) is the best part of Zanzibar to visit if you want to indulge in all-day swimming and water sports. Unusually, both nearby Nungwi Beach and Kendwa have almost no low tide, so you don't need to walk miles to get to the water. The area boasts several great resorts to cater to the crowds, including the magnificent [Zuri Zanzibar Hotel](https://dev.discoverafrica.com/accommodation/zuri-zanzibar-hotel-unguja-tanzania/). This is a popular part of Unguja island, also known as Zanzibar Island. It has a good selection of bars and restaurants, yet retains a romantic, peaceful atmosphere, unlike bustling Nungwi.
3. Nungwi Beach
Nungwi Beach is one of the liveliest places to visit in Zanzibar, offering a variety of evening entertainments. Here, the bars, resorts, hotels, and restaurants have a festive vibe, popular among fun-seekers. If you're not wild about partying the night away, you'll still find an abundance of coral reefs to explore where dolphins, green turtles and even whale sharks come out to play. Don't miss the chance to lap up one of Nungwi's famous sunsets with a dhow cruise at the end of the day. Hotel RIU Palace Zanzibar is a good choice for those wanting luxury accommodation a little distant from all the Nungwi action.
4. Kizimkazi Beach
For ultimate seclusion and an authentic Zanzibar experience, pick [Kizimkazi Beach](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/ras-kizimkazi/) for a unique getaway on the south coast of Zanzibar. Unlike its peers, Kizimkazi Beach features small intimate coves rather than vast expanses of sand, elevated above the ocean by a coral rag cliff. At the village of Kizimkazi, you can participate in one of the best things to do in Zanzibar, namely, the opportunity to indulge in dolphin safaris among the ocean waves. [Please contact us](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/enquiry/) if you want to enjoy responsible dolphin tourism in this area. Due to its off-the-beaten-track location, there are few Zanzibar hotels on the beach in this area, but that doesn't mean you have a shortage of choices. Both The Residence Zanzibar and Unguja Lodge offer tropical gardens, beach access and family-friendly stays.
5. Matemwe Beach
Explore some of the most memorable experiences Zanzibar has to offer at this hotspot of scuba diving and cultural abundance. [Matemwe Beach](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/matemwe/) is one of the best beaches in Zanzibar for those wanting to immerse themselves in offshore abundance. It's just a short boat trip to Mnemba Atoll, which offers extraordinary experiences for divers of all proficiencies. As you drift along this almost vertical coral wall, you're bound to come across Snappers, Moorish Idols, Sergeant fish, Trevallies, Napolean's, Groupers, and exceptionally curious dolphins. The exclusive haven of Mnemba Island Lodge is world-famous for its luxury experiences and a top choice of A-list celebrities visiting Zanzibar. If you'd prefer a lower-key experience, Matemwe Lodge is a popular Zanzibar beach resort for scuba divers. You'll also find several private villas in the area where you can enjoy customized experiences. Onshore, you'll uncover quaint fishing villages just beyond the palm-fringed beach, where you can gain insights into traditional island-style life. Some of the cultural activities on offer include tours of Stone Town, Swahili cooking classes, and trips to Prison Island.
6. Michamvi Beach
Despite the large beach resorts in the area, Michamvi has an isolated air about it. The beach nestles on the central east coast of the island on its own peninsula, with two main parts: [Michamvi-Pingwe](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/pingwe-dongwe-and-the-michamvi-peninsula/) featuring palm-fringed beaches, coral lagoons, scenic coves and cliffs Michamvi-Kae facing the mangroves of Chwaka Bay. It's the best area in Zanzibar for remote experiences as well as great activities. SUP tours through the mangroves, surfing, and kite surfing are among the top attractions here. Z-Hotel is a chic and popular boutique hotel with excellent dining and unique cocktail options. If you're looking for a more out-of-the-way stay, it's best to choose one of the more intimate resorts, like Kichanga Lodge or Konokomo Beach Resort.
Discover the Best Zanzibar Beaches
Zanzibar Beaches offer a host of opportunities for the romantic at heart, adventure seeker, and intrepid explorer. Whatever you seek along these pristine stretches of sand, the best way to find it is with a [tailored getaway to this tropical destination](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/enquiry/). [Browse our itineraries](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/search/results/&search&keywords=zanzibar/) for inspiration on the best ways to make the most of your travels to Zanzibar, and get in touch to craft your customized African experience. |

As a result, you’ll find an abundance of unspoiled beaches when you visit these islands.\n\n\n\nThese are the Zanzibar beaches that form the perfect add-on to your [Tanzanian safari](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/safaris/tanzania/).\n\n
1. Bwejuu Beach
\n\n[Bwejuu](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/bwejuu-paje-jambiani/) stands out as one of Zanzibar’s most outstanding sandy playgrounds. This glorious stretch of palm-fringed excellence is just an hour and a half away from all the sights of Stone Town and a must-see while exploring the area.\n\nYou can’t help but experience utter relaxation in this peaceful, secluded destination, with all its surrounding attractions. These include:\n\n-Dhow boat trips\n-Bwejuu Village tours\n-Scuba diving and snorkelling\n-Reef safaris\n\nNearby, [Jozani Forest](https://www.discoverafrica.com/things-to-do/zanzibar-jozani-forest-tour) beckons with scenes of natural beauty, rich folklore, rare birds, reptiles, and animals. It’s one of the few places worldwide where you might come across the red colobus monkey. According to UNESCO, Jozani Forest is a place of exceptional biodiversity.\n\nThere are several top-class Zanzibar resorts around Bwejuu Beach where you can immerse yourself in this abundance, namely:\n\n-Baraza Resort and Spa\n-The Palms\n-Breezes Beach Club and Dive Centre\n\n
2. Kendwa Beach
\n\nDo you love the soothing feel of the warm Indian Ocean on your skin?\n\n[Kendwa](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/nungwi-kendwa/) is the best part of Zanzibar to visit if you want to indulge in all-day swimming and water sports. Unusually, both nearby Nungwi Beach and Kendwa have almost no low tide, so you don't need to walk miles to get to the water.\n\nThe area boasts several great resorts to cater to the crowds, including the magnificent [Zuri Zanzibar Hotel](https://dev.discoverafrica.com/accommodation/zuri-zanzibar-hotel-unguja-tanzania/). \n\nThis is a popular part of Unguja island, also known as Zanzibar Island. It has a good selection of bars and restaurants, yet retains a romantic, peaceful atmosphere, unlike bustling Nungwi. \n\n
3. Nungwi Beach
\n\nNungwi Beach is one of the liveliest places to visit in Zanzibar, offering a variety of evening entertainments. Here, the bars, resorts, hotels, and restaurants have a festive vibe, popular among fun-seekers.\n\nIf you're not wild about partying the night away, you'll still find an abundance of coral reefs to explore where dolphins, green turtles and even whale sharks come out to play.\n\nDon't miss the chance to lap up one of Nungwi's famous sunsets with a dhow cruise at the end of the day. Hotel RIU Palace Zanzibar is a good choice for those wanting luxury accommodation a little distant from all the Nungwi action. \n\n
4. Kizimkazi Beach
\n\nFor ultimate seclusion and an authentic Zanzibar experience, pick [Kizimkazi Beach](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/ras-kizimkazi/) for a unique getaway on the south coast of Zanzibar.\n\nUnlike its peers, Kizimkazi Beach features small intimate coves rather than vast expanses of sand, elevated above the ocean by a coral rag cliff.\n\nAt the village of Kizimkazi, you can participate in one of the best things to do in Zanzibar, namely, the opportunity to indulge in dolphin safaris among the ocean waves.\n\n[Please contact us](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/enquiry/) if you want to enjoy responsible dolphin tourism in this area.\n\nDue to its off-the-beaten-track location, there are few Zanzibar hotels on the beach in this area, but that doesn't mean you have a shortage of choices. Both The Residence Zanzibar and Unguja Lodge offer tropical gardens, beach access and family-friendly stays.\n\n
5. Matemwe Beach
\n\nExplore some of the most memorable experiences Zanzibar has to offer at this hotspot of scuba diving and cultural abundance. \n\n[Matemwe Beach](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/matemwe/) is one of the best beaches in Zanzibar for those wanting to immerse themselves in offshore abundance. It's just a short boat trip to Mnemba Atoll, which offers extraordinary experiences for divers of all proficiencies.\n\nAs you drift along this almost vertical coral wall, you're bound to come across Snappers, Moorish Idols, Sergeant fish, Trevallies, Napolean's, Groupers, and exceptionally curious dolphins.\n\nThe exclusive haven of Mnemba Island Lodge is world-famous for its luxury experiences and a top choice of A-list celebrities visiting Zanzibar. If you'd prefer a lower-key experience, Matemwe Lodge is a popular Zanzibar beach resort for scuba divers.\n\nYou'll also find several private villas in the area where you can enjoy customized experiences.\n\nOnshore, you'll uncover quaint fishing villages just beyond the palm-fringed beach, where you can gain insights into traditional island-style life. Some of the cultural activities on offer include tours of Stone Town, Swahili cooking classes, and trips to Prison Island.\n\n
6. Michamvi Beach
\n\nDespite the large beach resorts in the area, Michamvi has an isolated air about it. The beach nestles on the central east coast of the island on its own peninsula, with two main parts:\n\n[Michamvi-Pingwe](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/zanzibar/pingwe-dongwe-and-the-michamvi-peninsula/) featuring palm-fringed beaches, coral lagoons, scenic coves and cliffs Michamvi-Kae facing the mangroves of Chwaka Bay. It's the best area in Zanzibar for remote experiences as well as great activities. SUP tours through the mangroves, surfing, and kite surfing are among the top attractions here.\n\nZ-Hotel is a chic and popular boutique hotel with excellent dining and unique cocktail options. If you're looking for a more out-of-the-way stay, it's best to choose one of the more intimate resorts, like Kichanga Lodge or Konokomo Beach Resort.\n\n
Discover the Best Zanzibar Beaches
\n\nZanzibar Beaches offer a host of opportunities for the romantic at heart, adventure seeker, and intrepid explorer.\n\nWhatever you seek along these pristine stretches of sand, the best way to find it is with a [tailored getaway to this tropical destination](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/enquiry/). \n\n[Browse our itineraries](https://bolt.discoverafrica.com/search/results/&search&keywords=zanzibar/) for inspiration on the best ways to make the most of your travels to Zanzibar, and get in touch to craft your customized African experience.",

| body | The Kruger National Park is South Africa’s most popular wildlife destination. When travelling to South Africa it is always highly recommended to visit The Kruger National Park. If you are looking for the ultimate South African Safari, then this is the place to be. The Kruger National Park is home to the Big Five: leopard, lion, rhino, elephant and buffalo. The variety of mammals and birdlife you find here is astounding. The park offers ultimate luxury as well as more budget establishments, welcoming travellers of all types from all around the world. Today, however, we’re going to speak more about the luxurious side of the park. I suppose most people have this idea that a safari in Kruger is rustic and basic, do not be fooled! Combining ultimate luxury with a safari adventure is an experience like no other. Let me tell you a little about my personal opinion as to which lodge is the most luxurious in The Kruger National Park. ### The Lodge After much thought and research, I decided that in my opinion, the most luxurious accommodation in The Kruger National Park is no other than, Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge. This lodge took my breath away! When I had a look at this lodge, it was as if my mind was outside my body and I was lounging at one of their plunge pools, with a drink in my hand and a herd of an elephant passing by. Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is the definition of luxury. ### The Location Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is in the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. The Reserve is located in the popular Sabi Sands, a private concession of The Kruger National Park. The Sabi Sands area is generally known for its luxurious lodges and exceptional game viewing. The Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve has been hosting guests since 1979 and is a convenient one hour flight from Johannesburg. ### What The Lodge Has to Offer Sabi Sabi Earth lodge consists out of 13 suites. I love that the lodge is quite small as they are able to give much attention to detail and offer an exclusive experience. Each suite here is unique in its own way as they have been individually furnished. All suites have their own private plunge pools, en-suite bathrooms overlooking the bush, as well as indoor and outdoor showers. Just imagine spotting wildlife whilst sitting in a relaxing bubble bath? I think this is amazing. Suites also include minibars and air conditioning. Regarding activities, the lodge offers day and night game drives, game walks and bird watching. All meals are offered at the lodge’s communal area or set up privately in your room, one can also enjoy a drink in their lounge every now and then. The lodge offers free parking, free high-speed internet, spa services, a swimming pool, a library and laundry services. ### Why Choose This Lodge Enough about the facts, let me tell you why this lodge truly captured me. I love that Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge has created pure luxury in such a natural and authentic way. This lodge has stayed true to their surroundings, by keeping all infrastructure as natural as possible. Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge is proclaimed to be one of the most environmentally sensitive lodges in Africa. So many Safari lodges have chosen to have a modern and contemporary look in the bush, and to be honest, when I’m in the bush I want to feel like I’m there and still appreciate the authenticity of it all. Do yourself a favour (and if you have the budget), go to Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge to your [Safari in Kruger](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/kruger-national-park/) and allow your senses to go wild not only by the lodge’s surroundings but by the lodge itself and its unique infrastructure. Ultimate, authentic luxury will be found here. |

| body | No visit to South Africa is complete without a safari. And with so many reserves to choose from, the number of lodges are endless. To find the perfect lodge for your stay, you would just have to bear in mind a few points. ## Your budget for the stay How much you would like to spend on your safari, would help you decide on which lodge to choose. With so many reserves, there is something that will suit everyone’s pocket. National Parks would offer the largest variety of accommodation including campsites, self-catering chalets as well as lodging including meals and activities. Should you prefer something a little more luxurious, private reserves offer small intimate camps with large rooms leading onto verandas with beautiful views of the African Bush. Here you can enjoy fine dining and specialised guided activities. ## The length of your safari The number of days you are looking at spending on safari would also determine your choice. If your stay would be limited to only a few days, the best would be to have a look at a lodge that would offer you not only a great game viewing experience, but that is also located in the best area to ensure that you get to see your bucket list wildlife. Ideally, you would like to spend at least 3 nights on safari. This would allow you plenty of time for game activities, but also some time to relax and enjoy the facilities at the lodge. ## Who would be travelling Your travelling party would also impact your choice of the lodge for your safari. Travelling as a couple, you might prefer a smaller intimate lodge with the option of enjoying a spa treatment between activities. Rooms are generally larger and mostly offer private plunge pools and salas where you can soak up the African sun. When travelling with a family or larger group, other facilities would need to be available. Private houses or villas would be ideal for this as you would have the flexibility with regards to meal and activity times. Family-oriented lodges also have babysitting facilities available and children programs to keep the little ones entertained. ## Which other destinations are you including Other stops while visiting South Africa will also have an impact on your choice of a safari lodge. The most popular option would be to fly into either the closet airport to the lodge or some have the option of flying into the airstrip of the reserve. The transfer to the lodge would then only be a few minutes away through the park. A great combination would be to enjoy a few days at the beach after your safari. With early morning and late afternoon game drives, safari can be tiring. There are plenty of lodges that offer great specials when booking a safari and including a stay at the beach. Here flights between the destinations would be ideal and a great time saver. However, if you are thinking of travelling from Cape Town along the Garden Route, there are some great safari lodge options. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is only 3 hours drive from Cape Town and offers great Big 5 sightings. Ending your trip in Port Elizabeth, the Addo National Park is only an hours drive away. For the lucky few that would have a number of days available for their safari, you would not only be able to include a number of lodges in your stay, but also a variety of reserves. As each reserve is known for specific wildlife, including a variety of reserves, you enhance your chances of spotting your favourite wildlife. With so many options available for your next South African safari, there is definitely a perfect lodge for you. Don’t hesitate, book your next safari now and come and explore our beautiful country! "body": "No visit to South Africa is complete without a safari. And with so many reserves to choose from, the number of lodges are endless. To find the perfect lodge for your stay, you would just have to bear in mind a few points. \n\n## Your budget for the stay\nHow much you would like to spend on your safari, would help you decide on which lodge to choose. With so many reserves, there is something that will suit everyone’s pocket. National Parks would offer the largest variety of accommodation including campsites, self-catering chalets as well as lodging including meals and activities.\n\n\n\n\nShould you prefer something a little more luxurious, private reserves offer small intimate camps with large rooms leading onto verandas with beautiful views of the African Bush. Here you can enjoy fine dining and specialised guided activities.\n\n## The length of your safari\n\n\n\nThe number of days you are looking at spending on safari would also determine your choice. If your stay would be limited to only a few days, the best would be to have a look at a lodge that would offer you not only a great game viewing experience, but that is also located in the best area to ensure that you get to see your bucket list wildlife. Ideally, you would like to spend at least 3 nights on safari. This would allow you plenty of time for game activities, but also some time to relax and enjoy the facilities at the lodge.\n\n## Who would be travelling\nYour travelling party would also impact your choice of the lodge for your safari. Travelling as a couple, you might prefer a smaller intimate lodge with the option of enjoying a spa treatment between activities. Rooms are generally larger and mostly offer private plunge pools and salas where you can soak up the African sun.\n\nWhen travelling with a family or larger group, other facilities would need to be available. Private houses or villas would be ideal for this as you would have the flexibility with regards to meal and activity times. Family-oriented lodges also have babysitting facilities available and children programs to keep the little ones entertained. \n\n## Which other destinations are you including\nOther stops while visiting South Africa will also have an impact on your choice of a safari lodge. The most popular option would be to fly into either the closet airport to the lodge or some have the option of flying into the airstrip of the reserve. The transfer to the lodge would then only be a few minutes away through the park. \n\nA great combination would be to enjoy a few days at the beach after your safari. With early morning and late afternoon game drives, safari can be tiring. There are plenty of lodges that offer great specials when booking a safari and including a stay at the beach. Here flights between the destinations would be ideal and a great time saver.\n\nHowever, if you are thinking of travelling from Cape Town along the Garden Route, there are some great safari lodge options. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is only 3 hours drive from Cape Town and offers great Big 5 sightings. Ending your trip in Port Elizabeth, the Addo National Park is only an hours drive away.\n\n\nFor the lucky few that would have a number of days available for their safari, you would not only be able to include a number of lodges in your stay, but also a variety of reserves. As each reserve is known for specific wildlife, including a variety of reserves, you enhance your chances of spotting your favourite wildlife.\n\nWith so many options available for your next South African safari, there is definitely a perfect lodge for you. Don’t hesitate, book your next safari now and come and explore our beautiful country!\n\n\nWith so many options available for your next South African safari, there is definitely a perfect lodge for you. | body | The Garden Route is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in South Africa. It is used as both a route up to the Eastern Cape and as a destination itself. But how long does it take, where do I stop, and is it a good trip? ## Where is the garden route? The Garden Route is a route along the Eastern Coast of South Africa. Starting in Cape Town and ending in Port Elizabeth. It follows the National N2 road along the route. But there are many other variants of the route to see the different sites along the way such as Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn. The reason it is so beautiful is the mountainous terrain that reaches the majestic ocean. It also hosts many different vegetation and environments such as the farmlands north of Cape Town, and the Green Forests near Knysna. ## Distance The N2 route is approximately 750kms from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. This means without stops it will take about nine hours to travel along the route. But when you are on holiday, you want to stop and see the sites, take pictures and make memories. So, let's discuss where you should stop. ## Potential stops There are so many good stops along the way, that it is hard to only mention a few, so here are a few of my favourites: ### Monkeyland - Plettenberg Bay Monkeyland is a sanctuary near Plettenberg Bay where you can get up close and personal with some Monkey Business. They have built a huge dome allowing the monkeys to roam free inside the area. You can take a guided tour through the dome where the guide will point out and inform you about the species of ape running over your feet! ### World of Birds - Plettenberg Bay Similar to the Monkeyland, and right next door. You have Birds of Eden. Here you can take a walk inside their huge dome, along the wooden path as the birds fly right over your head! This allows fantastic pictures and a unique experience. ### Cango Caves - Oudtshoorn The mystical and breathtaking Cango Caves rock formations are something not to be missed! Just near Oudtshoorn is where you will find this stop, and it has daily guided tours exploring the cave. It has different tours depending on your comfort level. ### The Beaches of Wilderness - Wilderness Wilderness falls between George and Knsyna along the route. It is a small village made up mainly of holiday homes. The beaches in Wilderness are something from a movie! Endless and picture-perfect! Take a walk or a run along the beach when you pass through, you can thank me later! ### Knysna Lagoon and Waterfront - Knysna Knysna is a stunning little town built around a lagoon. This gives it a unique town layout with multiple islands. The waterfront is the heart of Knysna where there are many restaurants along the edge of the lagoon. There are also boat tours that will take you up to the river mouth. ### The Big Tree - Knysna Forest The Big tree is a 36m high tree within the indigenous Tsitsikamma forest. It has a beautiful walkway under the forest canopy where you can see the big tree and potentially some local wildlife. Beware of Baboons and Monkeys in the area, and DO NOT FEED THEM. ### Addo Elephant National Park - Port Elizabeth Just outside Port Elizabeth is Addo. Addo is home to the big 5 and many other species of wildlife. As its name suggests it has a large population of Elephants! If you are not going on to a Safari after the Garden Route, I would recommend making this stop! ## The Perfect Trip In our experience, the best way to see the Garden Route would be to do it in seven days But it can be done in as little as two or three days if in a hurry. I would start by driving and spending two nights in George. Here you can explore the Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay, and George Areas. Following this, spend a night in Knysna to explore the Knysna and wilderness areas. Then two nights in Plettenberg Bay exploring the Plettenberg and Tsitsikamma area. Last off, one night in Addo Elephant National Park. This will give you the real Eastern Cape bush experience! The Garden Route is definitely worth the trip! On its own, or as part of a longer-term tour plan, it is a journey like no other. Rent a car with [Drive South Africa](https://www.drivesouthafrica.com/) and explore! You will go home with pictures and memories, with a wish to do it again. I have done the Garden Route around four times, and can't wait to do it again! |

| body | You can find both the Okavango Delta and The Victoria Falls in Southern Africa. The Okavango Delta is in Botswana and the Victoria Falls is on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Both of these destinations are world-renowned for their natural beauty and are placed fairly close to one another. If you are planning a trip to Southern Africa and wanting to get as much out of your trip as possible, then this article will explain how you can cover main attractions of two countries in just a few days. ## Okavango Delta The Okavango Delta...when I say this out loud I get a little excited. The Okavango Delta is the gem in Botswana's crown. If you go to Botswana and you do not go to the Okavango Delta, it would be like going to a Birthday party and not eating cake. The Okavango Delta is an inland river delta, made out of reeds and river channels, situated in Northern Botswana. The Okavango Delta is well known for offering one of the best wildlife experiences in Botswana and is praised worldwide for its conservation efforts. ## Victoria Falls The Victoria Falls holds a very special childhood memory of mine. When I was about 12 years old, we went on a family holiday to Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The part out of this whole trip I remember best was Victoria Falls. I remember giving the guide a run for his money as I had just studied an entire book on David Livingstone (plays a big role in the history of the Victoria Falls). The Victoria Falls is situated on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Just to give you an idea of how magnificent the Victoria Falls is, it is twice the size of Niagara Falls. The Victoria Falls is generally known for its natural beauty (of course), as well as the adventure activities occurring all around the falls. Just imagine a combination of excitement and warmth? With that being said, yes, one can most definitely visit the Okavango Delta and The Victoria Falls in one trip. How it would work is, you would start your trip in the Okavango Delta and stay there for about three to four nights. After your stay in the Delta, you would catch a charter flight from your camp to Kasane Airport. Upon arrival at Kasane Airport, you catch a road transfer of about 1.5 hours to Victoria Falls. It’s as easy as that! ### However, there are a few affecting aspects to bear in mind. ## Type of holiday When saying “type of holiday” I refer to family holidays, romantic holidays, solo traveller holidays etc. For example, if you were on a family holiday and you have young children, you would have to keep travelling time and distance in mind. I do not have children of my own yet, but I can imagine that travelling with them can be challenging at times. When combining the Okavango Delta and the Victoria Falls, the entire trip involves approximately two domestic flights and two road transfers within a time frame of about six days. If you have young children, this can be tricky. ## Length and budget You need at least five to seven days of travel time if you are wanting to combine The Okavango Delta and The Victoria Falls. Length and budget go hand-in-hand. One's budget needs to be enough in order to cover the approximate length of the combined trip, but don’t let budget scare you. If you travel at the right time of the year, one can score some great deals. Combining The Okavango Delta and The Victoria Falls is highly recommended and is considered to be the ideal [Botswana Safari](https://www.discoverafrica.com/safaris/botswana/). You get to experience the main highlights of Africa, being wildlife and natural sights. Both the Okavango Delta and The Victoria Falls are one of the most famous hotspots in Africa, and you can experience both of them in just one trip. |

| body | Durban is South Africa’s third largest city and unofficially recognised as its most easy-going. Miles of city beachfront and a warm Indian Ocean have created a relaxed, surfing, sea-loving and generally outdoorsy culture. Winters are warm and dry and the summers hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms and plenty of rain. It’s a green and hilly city, where the gardens and parks burst with subtropical plants. Laid-back ‘Durbs’ is a great place to hang out for a few days before heading off to explore the surrounding coast. .jpg) ## Highlights of the Destination Besides the many surfers, Durban is well-known for its thriving Indian community and you’ll find plenty of choice if you like a good curry. Bunny chow is a local specialty: your pick of curry served in fresh hollowed-out bread. Down by the sea, the Durban promenade runs for 6 km along the waterfront and includes the Golden Mile, a busy stretch of swimming beaches, cafes, water parks and the 16-hectare uShaka Marine World. To be near the centre, find a hotel on North or South Beach just behind the Golden Mile, or head up the coast to the quieter, leafy suburbs of Durban North. A little further up the coast you’ll find the beach hotels of Umhlanga, arguably Durban’s most popular seaside resort. You can get a good feel for Durban in a couple of days, before heading off to one of the beautiful towns up or down the coast. Most travellers opt for car rental with car hire South Africa to accommodate their travel plans |

| body | Extending over a mind-boggling 19,485 km², the Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s largest and most iconic safari destinations, comparable in area to Wales or the state of New Jersey, and sharing open borders with several smaller private reserves as well as two transfrontier national parks in the form of Gonarezhou (Zimbabwe) and Limpopo (Mozambique). It vies with with Cape Town as South Africa’s top destination, attracting more than one million visitors annually, and the park itself is better suited to affordable self-drive safaris than any other major African park. By contrast, the exclusive private reserves that border Kruger, and ‘concession lodges’ that occupy exclusive enclaves within it, set the bar when it comes to all-inclusive luxury safaris in open 4x4 vehicles driven by expert guides. Image: Tanda Tula Field Camp Set in the hot eastern lowveld, Kruger is traversed by several rivers and punctuated by a few hilly areas, but mostly it comprises flat savannah dominated by acacia trees in the south and mopane woodland in the north. A tally of 147 mammal species includes all the Big Five (around 40,000 buffalo, 13,000 elephant, 1,600 lion, 2,000 leopard and 7,000 white and 400 black rhino) along with other safari favourites such as cheetah, hippo, zebra, giraffe, warthog, baboon, Vervet monkey and a full 21 antelope species. The Nile crocodile is the most conspicuous of 114 reptile and 34 amphibian species, but the ethereal communal calls of the Bubbling kassina and other tree-frogs often provide a haunting aural backdrop to dusk waterhole vigils. Kruger is a magnet for bird lovers, with 517 bird species recorded, ranging from the spectacularly colourful Lilac-breasted roller and White-fronted bee-eater to several heftier species now rare outside of protected areas, among them the eyelid-fluttering Southern ground hornbill, the bizarre Secretary-bird, the massive Kori bustard (the world’s heaviest flying bird), the macabre Marabou stork, and of course the ostrich. Image: Vincent van Zalinge Thanks to its relative proximity to Gauteng, Southern Kruger carries the highest volume of safari goers. The far south offers the park’s most reliable game viewing: the surfaced H4-1 that follows the Sabie River from Skukuza to Lower Sabie often throws up elephant, buffalo, lion and even leopard, and is also a favourite with birdwatchers, while the H4-2 and associated dirt roads running south to Crocodile Bridge explore the park’s Image: Glen Carrie The focal point of the lightly-wooded savannah of Central Kruger, Satara stands at the crossroads of some superb game-viewing roads. Seasonal concentrations of wildebeest and zebra are reminiscent of the Serengeti, and it is the best place to look for cheetah and to see lion kills - the latter also often attracting jackals and hyenas. The aptly-named Olifants River is favoured haunt of elephants and it also often attracts immense herds of thirsty buffalo. You can explore the Kruger National Park at your own pace. In fact, most travelers opt for [car hire South Africa](https://www.drivesouthafrica.com/rentals/car-rental/south-africa/) when planning their trip. |

"body": "Extending over a mind-boggling 19,485 km², the Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s largest and most iconic safari destinations, comparable in area to Wales or the state of New Jersey, and sharing open borders with several smaller private reserves as well as two transfrontier national parks in the form of Gonarezhou (Zimbabwe) and Limpopo (Mozambique). It vies with with Cape Town as South Africa’s top destination, attracting more than one million visitors annually, and the park itself is better suited to affordable self-drive safaris than any other major African park. By contrast, the exclusive private reserves that border Kruger, and ‘concession lodges’ that occupy exclusive enclaves within it, set the bar when it comes to all-inclusive luxury safaris in open 4x4 vehicles driven by expert guides.\n\n \n\n\n\nImage: Tanda Tula Field Camp\n\n \n\nSet in the hot eastern lowveld, Kruger is traversed by several rivers and punctuated by a few hilly areas, but mostly it comprises flat savannah dominated by acacia trees in the south and mopane woodland in the north. A tally of 147 mammal species includes all the Big Five (around 40,000 buffalo, 13,000 elephant, 1,600 lion, 2,000 leopard and 7,000 white and 400 black rhino) along with other safari favourites such as cheetah, hippo, zebra, giraffe, warthog, baboon, Vervet monkey and a full 21 antelope species.\n\n \n\nThe Nile crocodile is the most conspicuous of 114 reptile and 34 amphibian species, but the ethereal communal calls of the Bubbling kassina and other tree-frogs often provide a haunting aural backdrop to dusk waterhole vigils. Kruger is a magnet for bird lovers, with 517 bird species recorded, ranging from the spectacularly colourful Lilac-breasted roller and White-fronted bee-eater to several heftier species now rare outside of protected areas, among them the eyelid-fluttering Southern ground hornbill, the bizarre Secretary-bird, the massive Kori bustard (the world’s heaviest flying bird), the macabre Marabou stork, and of course the ostrich.\n\n \n\n\n\nImage: Vincent van Zalinge\n\n \n\nThanks to its relative proximity to Gauteng, Southern Kruger carries the highest volume of safari goers. The far south offers the park’s most reliable game viewing: the surfaced H4-1 that follows the Sabie River from Skukuza to Lower Sabie often throws up elephant, buffalo, lion and even leopard, and is also a favourite with birdwatchers, while the H4-2 and associated dirt roads running south to Crocodile Bridge explore the park’s \n\nImage: Glen Carrie\n\n \n\nThe focal point of the lightly-wooded savannah of Central Kruger, Satara stands at the crossroads of some superb game-viewing roads. Seasonal concentrations of wildebeest and zebra are reminiscent of the Serengeti, and it is the best place to look for cheetah and to see lion kills - the latter also often attracting jackals and hyenas. The aptly-named Olifants River is favoured haunt of elephants and it also often attracts immense herds of thirsty buffalo.\n\n \n\nYou can explore the Kruger National Park at your own pace.
