Ahmad bin Abdul Latif dan Dhien.beliau lahir di Desa Meunasah Leubok, Lhok Nibong, Aceh Timur, pada bulan Maret 1941.\n\nBeliau kerap di sapa dengan Abu Lueng Angen karena memang beliau memimpin sebuah Dayah yang bernama Dayah Darul Huda di desa Krueng Lingka kec.Langkahan,Aceh Utara.dayah tersebut sering disebut dengan dayah lueng angen.menurut sebagian sumber di samping komplek dayah tersebut dulu terdapat sebuah lueng (parit/sungai kecil)mati yang di tumbuhi pohon rumbia,shingga sering terdengar suara daun pohon rumbia yang dihempas angin.oleh karena itu dikenallah dayah tersebut dengan dayah lueng angen,namun sekarang lueng tersebut sudah di timbun untuk perluasan komplek dayah.\n\nUlama karismatik Aceh ini dikenal ahli dalam bidang Fiqh dan Qiraah Sab’ah(tujuh macam cara membaca al-quran),jadi jangan heran kalau santri-santri hasil didikan beliau sangat fasih dalam membaca Al-quran.\n\nPendidikan Formal\n\nPada tahun 1954 Tgk Muhammad Daud mulai belajar di SR(Sekolah Rendah) Lhoknibong,namun sayang pada saat pemberontakan DI/TII tepatnya pada bulan Ramadhan tahun 1954 sekolah ini dibakar oleh orang-orang yang tak bertanggung jawab.peristiwa ini mengakibatkan beliau harus berhenti bersekolah.setelah kejadian tersebut masyarakat lhoknibong memprakasai memprakarsai pendirian SRI (Sekolah Rendah Islam) sebagai pengganti sekolah yang telah terbakar dan Tgk Muhammad Daud pun dapat kembali bersekolah.namun beliau hanya belajar kurang dari setahu di sekolah ini.\n\nPendidikan Dayah\n\nKarena kecintaanya terhadap ilmu agama Tgk Muhammad Daun ingin mempelajari ilmu agama secara murni tanpa harus berkutat dengan pelajaran umum.maka pada tahun 1956 Tgk Muhammad Daun memulai perantauna mencari ilmu,mula-mula beliau menuju Dayah Bustanul Huda di Panteue Breueh, Aceh Uata.dayah tersebut dipimpin oleh Teungku Abdul Ghani yang dikenal dengan Teungku Di Aceh.di dayah ini belau menemukan kajian ilmu yang beliau inginkan ditambah lagi dengan suasana yang cukup kondusif jauh dari suara bising letusan senjata karena sedang terjadi genjatan senjata antara pihak DI/TII dengan Pemerintah RI.\n\nNamun sayang suasana yang tenang tersebut hanya bisa dinikmati selama dua tahun karena pemberontakan DI/TII kembali meletus sehingga beliau berseta para santri di dayah tersebut harus mengungsi ke Gampong Tanjong Ara, Paya Naden, Aceh Timur.beliau dan santri lainnya mengikuti ajakan guru beliau Teungku Abdul Ghani Tanjung Ara ke Gampong Tanjong Ara agar kegiatan belajar mengajar tidak terputus.\n\nSelama masa pengungsian beliau mulai memikirkan untuk melanjutkan pembelajaran ke tingkat yang lebih tinggi. Maka Pada bulan Desember 1960, Teungku Muhammad Daud, berbulat tekad menuju Samalanga sebagai tempat belajar yang lebih menjanjikan.\n\nDayah Ma’hadal ‘Ulum Diniyyah Islamiyyah (MUDI) Mesjid Raya Samalanga yang beliau pilih kala itu dipimpin oleh Teungku H. Abdul Aziz Shaleh (dikenal sebagai Abon Samalanga).berbekal ilmu yang beliau dapat di Dayah Bustanul Huda di Panteue Breueh maka beliau langsung duduk di kelas empat.diantara guru-guru beliau di MUDI adalah Tu Din (Teungku Zainal Abidin Syihabuddin),Teungku M. Kasem TB (Alm. adalah pimpinan Dayah Darul Istiqamah, Bireuen), Teungku Usman Kuta Krueng (sekarang pimpinan Dayah Darul Mun Munawwarah, Pidie), dan tentunya Abon Samalanga sendiri.selama di dayah MUDI beliau cukup betah mengaji dengan lancar hinggan lebih dari 10 tahun.\n\nMendirikan Dayah\n\nSetelah menempuh pendidikan di dayah MUDI selama lebih dari 10 tahun,pada awal tahun 1971 dengan izin Abon Samalanga Tgk Muhammad Daud kembali ke kampung halamannya.pada tahun yang sama pula beliau menikah dengan Faudziah binti Syamsuddin dan di rauniai tiga orang anak.\n\nPada tahun 1972 atas permintaan dan swadaya masyarakat didirikanlah sebuah dayah yang diberi nama DARUL HUDA.pada mulanya dayah ini dibangun untuk kebutuhan pendidikan agama anak-anak di sekitar dayah saja,namun kemudian mulai berdatangan santri-santri dari daerah lainnya sehingga membutuhkan asrama sebagai tempat menginap.\n\nSeiring bertambahnya santri Tgk Muhammad Daud pun sangat membuthkan tenaga pengajar untuk membantunya.maka Maka Abon Samalanga mengutus Teungku Abdullah Shaleh Jeunieb (adik kandung Abon Samalanga) untuk membantu Teungku Muhammad Daud.karena semasa di Samalanga Tgk Muhammad Daud termasuk salah satu santri yang sangat di sayangi Abon,maka Abon juga mengirim satu unit sepeda milik Abon sendiri, sebagai tanda restu.\n\nKini(2016) dayah Darul Huda adalah dayah nomor dua di Aceh dengan Santri terbanyak setelah MUDI Mesra Samalanga.lebih dari empat ribu santri menetap di dayah ini,mereka berasal dari berbagai daerah di Aceh dan luar (sumatra dan jawa) bahkan ada yang dari luar negeri seperti Malaysia.\n\nSampai sekarang dayah Darul Huda telah menghasilkan rubuan Alumni yang tersebar di seluruh Aceh sumatra dan jawa. Ada pula alaumni yang mengabdikan ilmunya di luar negeri seperti Malaysia, dan beberapa negara Asia Tenggara lainnya.\n\nKedekatan Dengan Masyarakat\n\nDi tahun-tahun terakhir keberadaannya di Dayah MUDI, Teungku Muhammad Daud Ahmad sering pulang kampung. Hal ini menjadi menjadi momentum yang mendekatkan dirinya dengan masyarakat setelah sekian lama merantau. Suatu ketika pada tahun 1969, Tgk Muhammad Daud pulang kampung dan pada saat itu sedang dilanda kemarau panjang. Merasa terenyuh melihat masyarakat yang didera kesulitan air, Tgk Muhammad Daud menggagas pelaksanaan shalat istisqaq (shalat memohon turun hujan). Menurut masyarakat setempat, Teungku Daud Sendiri yang memimpin shalat itu, lalu di malam harinya, turunlah hujan dengan sangat lebat.\n\nKedekatan beliau dengan masyarakat terbukti dengan kesediaan beliau menjadi ketua panitia pembangunan mesjid lhoknibong pada tahun 1980.bahkan beliau turun tangan sendiri dalam mensosialiasikan pembangunan mesjid tersebut kepada masyarakat dengan berceramah ke setiap menasah ayang ada yang ada di enam desa dalam kawasan kemesjidan Baiturrahim Lhoknibong.\n\nSelain itu,Abu Lueng  Angen juga termasuk dalam panitia pembangunan mesjid Pase yang sekarang berdiri megah di kota Panton Labu,Aceh Utara.\n\nDisiplin dan Rapi Dalam Segala Hal\n\nAbu Lueng Angen adalah sosok yang sederhana namun sangat disiplin, rapi dalam segala hal, dan cinta kebersihan. Jika suatu aturan diterapkan dalam dayahnya, maka beliau adalah orang pertama yang mematuhi aturan itu.sehingga tidak heran bila dayah binaan beliau yaitu dayah Darul Huda terkenal dengan peraturannya yang sangat ketat.\n\nDalam hal kerapian, tercermin dari komitmennya yang menempatkan sesuatu pada tempatnya. Misalnya dalam setiap kegiatan gotong-royong rutin membersihkan komplek dayah, beliau selalu mengingatkan para santri, agar peralatan yang telah digunakan segera dikembalikan ke tempat penyimpanannya. Oleh karena itu, tidak heran jika semasa sehat Abu dulu dayah darul huda pernah meraih penghargaan sebagai salah satu dayah terbersih se Aceh.\n\nStudi Banding Ke Luar Negeri\n\nPada tanggal 29 Juli sampai dengan tanggal 16 Agustus tahun 1996,Abu Lueng Angen beserta sejumlah ulama Aceh lainnya melakukan studi banding ke negara Malaysia, Yordania, Spanyol, Turki, Uzbekistan, Mesir, dan Arab Saudi. Studi banding tersebut diprakarsa Gubernur Aceh pada waktu itu, Prof. Dr. Syamsuddin Mahmud.",
