La gente acudió, sí. El pernil, no llegó. Tratando de subsanar la crisis que se presentó surgieron ideas para tratar de conseguir alternativas factibles al pernil. Una de estas ideas promulgaba: “Démosle al pueblo un pernil por persona, pero de iguana”.\n\nLuego de analizar la propuesta, se concluyó que no era posible. Entre las causas mencionadas se encontraban que se diezmaría la población autóctona de dichos reptiles, y no habría a quien achacar las fallas en el sistema eléctrico nacional. Además importar sus equivalentes desde Rusia y/o China podrían traer como consecuencia una tragedia ecológica por tratarse de especies con problemas de adaptación al medio ambiente y al idioma. \n\nLa segunda propuesta y es la que se decidió es la de suministrar perniles de chigüire, carpincho o capibara. El chigüire, es un roedor de la familia Caviidae, cuyo nombre científico es Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris. Es considerado el roedor viviente más grande del mundo, a excepción de Venezuela, donde se descubrió un ejemplar de roedor similar desde hace dos décadas, que aún se está estudiando y que se caracteriza por su piel roja. Este último se descartó por lo desagradable del sabor de su carne, su naturaleza esquiva, su capacidad de aprovecharse de la situación para su beneficio y no dejarse atrapar fácilmente.\n\nSe procedió, de esta manera, a realizar la respectiva importación, de la cual se encargaron algunos generales designados de la FANB para garantizar la transparencia de la misma. Se dio preferencia a este mecanismo, por encontrarse en período de veda la producción nacional, que se explotaría en la semana mayor del 2019.\nEn estos momentos se espera arriben a puertos venezolanos grandes buques cargueros repletos de perniles de chiguïre, que fueron importados en su mayoría desde Brasil y Colombia. En virtud de la colosal cantidad adquirida se tuvo que desechar al mar una ingente cantidad de contenedores con medicinas y quimioterápicos que tenían como destino los hospitales de nuestra nación y que ocupaban un importante espacio en los buques que se utilizarían para traer los perniles.\n\nA partir del 23 de diciembre del mes en curso se espera comience la distribución de los mismos, de forma tal que se garantice un pernil en cada mesa al menos para fin de año. \n\nDisfrutemos pues de nuestra cena navideña con la hallaca, pan de jamón, ensalada de gallina y pernil de chigüire, para mantener vivas nuestras tradiciones.\n\n¡Buen provecho!",

A veces le gustaba una mujer que pasaba y la seguía durante horas a distancia. Vivía con el temor de ser envenenado, solo comía comida preparada por su madre o hermana, y creía que los barberos del vecindario estaban conspirando para cortarle la garganta. Su familia intentó que lo enviaran a un asilo, pero él argumentó su cordura de forma tan convincente que las autoridades se negaron a admitirlo. El prodigio se enfrentó a Johann J. Lowenthal, un refugiado político de Hungría que era muy conocido en los círculos de ajedrez europeos. Morphy, en su lengua vernácula francesa, describió la reacción de Lowenthal al perder ante él en una palabra: \"comique\" que significa gracioso, cómico.
