title3 Vital Rules all Successful Affiliate Marketers Follow
body_This is what separates the mediocre marketer from the ones that cash out big time._ ![](https://i.imgsafe.org/b0/b0d9ed7873.jpeg) So you are an affiliate marketer? I hope you did your homework and chose your niche, chose your products and maybe you even created a Facebook page and/or a webpage. Now it's time to market the product to your target audience. And that's where most good advice ends. See, all these tutorials and "courses" you get on affiliate platforms cope just with technical stuff. Yes, you can learn how to create a facebook page, open a webshop, etc. Everybody can do that. It is a recipe you just have to follow. You can (and should!) even learn how to create Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Instagram Ads, and so on. But However, somehow the ads don't work as you expected. Somehow, people don't buy your products. You got the technology right, but you messed up the marketing stuff. In this article, you will learn 3 simple, but vital rules to make your audience BUY what you offer them. # Been there, done that When I started with affiliate marketing, I quickly became disillusioned. I set up social media profiles, web pages, sales funnels, email lists, and so on. Heck, I even hired freelancers to write pitches and marketing texts for me. But it didn't work out. The problem with those freelancers was: They didn't have a clue how to write a good marketing text. See, if they were able to sell products like madmen, why would they still do freelancing instead of selling their own stuff? So I had to learn how to write marketing texts. It's so simple that it hurts: How could you ever be a marketer without learning how to write marketing stuff? The truth is: There are many techniques and tips I could teach you. However, I wanted to come out with some simple and useful stuff that you can incorporate in your own writing within minutes. I learned about these three rules quite a while ago, and I tried them on various occasions: Marketing texts, ads, landing pages, emails and so on. And the results were mind-blowing! Not only have I gotten many more sales (in fact, it was just after learning these rules when I got my break even), I also felt way more secure when writing pitches. So here they are, the 3 rules. I don't even remember anymore where I learned about them, but I will surely never forget them: # Rule #1: People buy based on Emotions You might think, you buy for logical reasons. But I tell you: You decide what and when to buy based on emotions. Only after you made the decision, you think about it logically. In fact, you will almost always justify with logic what you already decided based on your emotions. This is huge, so let me tell it again: People decide to buy based on emotions, and later justify it with logic. People buy, because they are excited about a product and because they feel the urge to buy it. Look at all those big brands: They don't sell products, they sell feelings: Luxury goods or clothing brands target feelings of self-worth and status in the community. Athletic brands target excitement and adventure. Chocolate brands target taste. Have you ever bought chocolate, because you needed those extra calories? I highly doubt it. If you affiliate market an online course, sell the feeling of being a successful entrepreneur to your potential customers. How does it feel to be on your own? To become financially free? Sell them how good it feels to finally drive that Ferrari, travel the world, and so on. If you sell skin cream, sell them the soft feeling their skin would have. Sell them how beautiful they would look after applying that cream for just one week! Sell them, that they enter a new level of society, friendship and erotic when they have softer skin than anybody else. If you sell weight-loss products, well, I'll leave that up to you. I think you got the idea by now. # Rule #2: Your product should solve one particular problem "Niche down". Find sub-niches within your niche, then find a product, and then only market one aspect of it. This might seem counter-intuitive, but it makes sense. Let's suppose the following scenario: You have acne and you are searching for a remedy. You go into a shop and find 2 different creams. One says it helps against acne and cellulitis, while the other has a big sticker on it saying: "The Best Acne Cream". Which cream would you choose? See, if you find a product that solves that one problem you currently have, a product that seems to be a 100% fit, you will buy it. At least most people would, even if that product is more expensive than the alternatives! You rather trust the expert. That doesn't mean you have to ignore all the other cool features of your product. It just means for your ad, your landing page or your email: Present that one feature that appeals most to the target audience. The bonus is: If your product has two cool features, you could create two landing pages! Two sets of ads, emails, and so on. You immediately double your audience size without the extra research work of finding new products. # Rule #3: Sell stories You think a Ferrari is an expensive car? Well, how much do you believe Silvester Stallones Ferrari would cost if he were to sell it? Stories help you to stand out from the crowd and make your product unique. Coin a story around your product, and you will sell much more. This is even stronger when your story is about how your product already solved problems of other customers: Don't sell just another "How to get followers on Instagram" video course. Tell your potential customers how this course has helped over 100 people gaining over 90.000 followers already. Tell them how people became influencers by applying the content of that course. You will be surprised just how powerful 2 or 3 sentences can be. # Conclusion If you have read that far, you know by now what you have to do: Incorporate these three rules in your next marketing text, email, ad, blog post and in your landing page. The results will speak for themselves.

titleHow to upgrade your Smartnode to V1.2.3
bodyIn this article I'll just give you some quick hints when upgrading to V1.2.3 and I'll try to answer some frequent questions. V1.2.3 is a mandatory upgrade, and if you didn't already perform it, you should do it pretty soon, as with the beginning of July, no more rewards will be paid out to outdated Smartnodes. # 0 Back up your wallet.dat Really, I shouldnt be saying that, but this is what you always need to do before you change anything! Start the wallet and use the "File / Backup Wallet" menu option to backup your wallet file. # 1 Upgrade your wallet software (Node Client) First, you should upgrade your desktop wallet. Go to this page: https://smartcash.cc/wallets/ and download the *"Node Client"* (not the Electrum Wallet). If you have your current wallet opened, now it's the time to close it. Install the wallet and then navigate to the install location. If you are using Windows, this would be *%appdata%\Smartcash* if you installed the wallet in the standard location. Now try to start the wallet. If an error occures (probably saying "A fatal error occured"), close the wallet and remove the folders *chainstate* and *blocks* from your smartcash install location ( If you are using Windows, this would be *%appdata%\Smartcash*). ** Do NOT remove your wallet.dat file ** After removing the two folders, the wallet should start up. Let it sync the latest changes. # 2 Upgrade your Smartnode Basically, follow Section 3. (Update Instructions (SmartNode / VPS)) of this guide: https://smartcash.cc/smartcash-v1-2-release-announcement-and-instructions/ It should be sufficient to execute these commands: ``` sudo apt update && sudo apt install smartcashd -y smartcash-cli stop smartcashd ``` If you are logged in as root, just remove the "sudo" before the "apt" commands (and ask yourself, if you really want to be logged in as root...) ## 2.1 Wait for your Smartnode to be in sync Execute the command: ``` smartcash-cli getinfo ``` Most likely you will get an error output like this: ``` error code: -28 error message: Creating SmartRewards database: 52700/527569 ``` This means that your smartnode has not synced/processed all the changes yet. Be patient and wait a couple of minutes for your node to be ready. After the node has finished syncing, the output of *smartcash-cli getinfo* should look like this: ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfNzJhKpT6EwZYHe9kuC1FN4RvU4P31gBWwxQfYb5WC4p/image.png) ## 3 Start Alias Now that your node has synced, go back to your desktop wallet, and click on SmartNodes / My SmartNodes, and press the "Start alias" button. ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeqcwc5sZLVzxc28FznhA4or7FQc9zSNv3BJbDkPBrKFw/image.png) You can check if the Start Alias process was successful by returning to your terminal and execute the command: ``` smartcash-cli smartnode status ``` This should now display the status "Smartnode successfully started". ## 4 Wait for your node to get enabled After starting the alias, the node's status is PRE-ENABLED (which you can check in your wallet in the SmartNodes / My Smartnodes Tab). It can take a couple of minutes for the node to get ENABLED. Just check back in 30-60 minutes and you can be sure that your node is ready. That's it! I hope this article helped a bit. "title": "How to upgrade your Smartnode to V1.2.3",
"body": "In this article I'll just give you some quick hints when upgrading to V1.2.3 and I'll try to answer some frequent questions.\n\nV1.2.3 is a mandatory upgrade, and if you didn't already perform it, you should do it pretty soon, as with the beginning of July, no more rewards will be paid out to outdated Smartnodes.\n\n# 0 Back up your wallet.dat\nReally, I shouldnt be saying that, but this is what you always need to do before you change anything! Start the wallet and use the \"File / Backup Wallet\" menu option to backup your wallet file.\n\n# 1 Upgrade your wallet software (Node Client)\n\nFirst, you should upgrade your desktop wallet. Go to this page: https://smartcash.cc/wallets/\nand download the *\"Node Client\"* (not the Electrum Wallet).\n\nIf you have your current wallet opened, now it's the time to close it.\n\nInstall the wallet and then navigate to the install location. If you are using Windows, this would be *%appdata%\\Smartcash* if you installed the wallet in the standard location.\n\nNow try to start the wallet. If an error occures (probably saying \"A fatal error occured\"), close the wallet and remove the folders *chainstate* and *blocks* from your smartcash install location ( If you are using Windows, this would be *%appdata%\\Smartcash*).\n\n** Do NOT remove your wallet.dat file ** \n\nAfter removing the two folders, the wallet should start up. Let it sync the latest changes.\n\n# 2 Upgrade your Smartnode\n\nBasically, follow Section 3. (Update Instructions (SmartNode / VPS)) of this guide: https://smartcash.cc/smartcash-v1-2-release-announcement-and-instructions/\n\nIt should be sufficient to execute these commands:\n```\nsudo apt update && sudo apt install smartcashd -y\nsmartcash-cli stop\nsmartcashd\n```\n\nIf you are logged in as root, just remove the \"sudo\" before the \"apt\" commands (and ask yourself, if you really want to be logged in as root...)\n\n## 2.1 Wait for your Smartnode to be in sync\n\nExecute the command:\n```\nsmartcash-cli getinfo\n```\n\nMost likely you will get an error output like this:\n```\nerror code: -28\nerror message:\nCreating SmartRewards database: 52700/527569\n```\n\nThis means that your smartnode has not synced/processed all the changes yet. Be patient and wait a couple of minutes for your node to be ready. After the node has finished syncing, the output of *smartcash-cli getinfo* should look like this:\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfNzJhKpT6EwZYHe9kuC1FN4RvU4P31gBWwxQfYb5WC4p/image.png)\n\n## 3 Start Alias\n\nNow that your node has synced, go back to your desktop wallet, and click on SmartNodes / My SmartNodes, and press the \"Start alias\" button.\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeqcwc5sZLVzxc28FznhA4or7FQc9zSNv3BJbDkPBrKFw/image.png)\n\nYou can check if the Start Alias process was successful by returning to your terminal and execute the command:\n\n```\nsmartcash-cli smartnode status\n```\n\nThis should now display the status \"Smartnode successfully started\".\n\n## 4 Wait for your node to get enabled\n\nAfter starting the alias, the node's status is PRE-ENABLED (which you can check in your wallet in the SmartNodes / My Smartnodes Tab). It can take a couple of minutes for the node to get ENABLED. Just check back in 30-60 minutes and you can be sure that your node is ready.\n\nThat's it! I hope this article helped a bit.\n\nMake sure to also check out this article to set up a simple and nice terminal-monitoring command for your smartnode: https://steemit.com/smartcash/@digitaldarwin/simple-smartnode-masternode-monitoring-for-the-command-line",

titleSimple Smartnode/Masternode Monitoring For The Command Line
bodyYou know that old Boy Scout Rule? > Leave Things BETTER than you found them. *~ Robert Baden Powell* This is what I thought when I recently needed to upgrade my Smartnode (Smartcash Masternode). Afer upgrading, it takes some time for the smartnode to catch up with loading and processing the latest blocks. Fortunately, there is the handy smartcash-cli that supports us with the means to get the latest info about the node. **Of course, you can apply these ideas also to other masternodes respectively!** I had two wishes to optimize the information output for my smartnode: 1. Compile the results of *smartcash-cli smartnode status* and *smartcash-cli getinfo* into one nice output 2. Create a handy command to display this output every second, so I can see almost in realtime, when my smartnode server is ready ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTWTVpeaUPJFytvF1pgkLXReyJX1tZfzUfdz3h2AhkXUq/image.png) # Let's develop! To cope with the first wish, we can create a very basic bash script which we're gonna call *checknode.sh*. Here's the code: ``` #!/bin/bash echo "--------------------------------------------------" echo "-- smartcash-cli smartnode status --" echo "--------------------------------------------------" smartcash-cli smartnode status echo "" echo "--------------------------------------------------" echo "-- smartcash-cli getinfo --" echo "--------------------------------------------------" smartcash-cli getinfo ``` As you can see, the script just displays the results of both commands one after the other. In order to make the script actually executable, it needs to be chmodded to add execution rights for the owner: ``` chmod u+x ./checknode.sh ``` # Refresh the status information every second Now there is a fine little program called *watch*, which is most likely alreeady installed on your machine. Watch executes a command and displays its output every X seconds, where X is a command line argument. So I used this command to let watch print my server status every second: ``` watch -n 1 ~/checknode.sh ``` That gives the following output: ![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmf6hm2qwFY6bYG3Nowqyhpevx3pTDDrqf1RuNGoPgoSiW/image.png) Pretty nice! # Create an alias for your convenience! In order to make it even more convenient, we create an alias, and we also add that alias to .bashrc (so it is being created every time we log into the server): ``` alias checknode='watch -n 1 ~/checknode.sh' echo "alias checknode='watch -n 1 ~/checknode.sh'" >> ~/.bashrc ``` Now, we can track the node's information by simply typing *checknode* into the terminal. # A Bonus One last thing: It might be a nice idea to display the node's information once right after logging in. To do this, we simply let bash execute our *checknode.sh* script after loggin in. Again, we just need to append the respective command to the .bashrc file: ``` echo "~/checknode.sh'" >> ~/.bashrc ``` That's it - with some simple commands we created a nice-looking status monitoring command for our terminal. Have fun!

The thing is: With the upvoting system, people who write good, honest, interesting content will always be more successful than others. I further assume that people that just try to post spammy stuff (hoping to make big money) eventually will leave or change their attitude, because they don't succeed. Therefore I think Steem has the potential of becoming THE high-quality bloggin platform in the internet! This is only the beginning of decentralized social platforms :)

titleIs there a God? - Why I stopped thinking about this question ...
bodyI thought about this question often and I read quite some interesting stuff about it. I want to share with you some exciting perspectives. Let's analyze this question from different angles! Let's think about this question: * From the perspective of a physicist * From the perspective of a biologist * From the perspective of a philosopher * From the perspective of a technician By the way, we are NOT talking about churches or religions and I kindly ask you not to write anything about specific religions in your comments! ![night-photograph-2183637_1920.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcmKvPKV6AP6HxyvcESKxHdBEBhxc1y2Qqe7WGeYZC3bF/night-photograph-2183637_1920.jpg) # == The perspective of a physicist == Physicists essentially try to do one thing: They describe in a qualitative and quantitative way what can be observed in nature. Sometimes, they can even "predict" stuff by extending their theories and trying stuff out in experiments. Now the question is: What CAN a physicist describe? We live in a house, in a city, on a planet, in our universe. The universe is actually the biggest thing ever seen in which our laws of physics can be applied successfully. Physicists aim to describe everything that happens in the universe. Now, based on the Big Bang theory, everything (meaning: the universe itself) was condensed in a small dot (called the Singularity) before the universe expanded to the state we find it in today. What's even more obscure is that even TIME only started to "flow" after the Big Bang itself. Everything we can ever observe, everything we can ever find laws of must be: 1) Geometrically within the universe 2) Within the universe's lifespan (because time didn't exist before the Big Bang) So that leaves us to two things we can never observe and thus we won't be able to ever describe: 1) What goes on "outside" the universe 2) What happened before the Big Bang That leaves a big space for ...... God? # == The perspective of a biologist == Biologists study living organisms and life in general. They analyze the "big stuff" (like the attributes and history of a whole species) and the small stuff (like the genetic properties of a bacteria cell). One can easily imagine that especially when talking about the "small stuff" like microbiology or molecular biology, biologists have to tightly work together with chemists and physicists. Biology provides a very strong theory of how life works on a molecular basis, how life and species develop to generate such a diversity. Did you ever ask yourself how millions of different species like plants, animals, bacteria, etc. were able to develop? Maybe out of one single common ancestor? Well, biology provides profound answers to a lot of these questions. However, we again have to ask ourselves: What questions CAN biology possibly answer? If life was initially given in any form, biology can describe how this life could have developed into the diversity that we experience now. Where is place for God in this point of view? 1. Biology describes the rules of life. But who made these rules? Ultimately, they are defined by chemical (and thus by physical) laws. We can describe what we see, but we cannot find reason WHY these rules exist at all. Who created the rules? 2. One could argue that the first organism, that first living cell, could have been "created". Now there are some interesting and strong theories on how this first organism could have "evolved" naturally (meaning: by chemistry and physics). Scientists call this Abiogenesis or "chemical evolution". Based on simple molecules, through various mechanisms, complex molecules that are necessary for all forms of life we know can be created. There is profound research that shows that it's possible that all those complex molecules could have developed over time and by a huge amount of "trial and error", the first living cell formed on basis of a lot of semi-living precursors (like viruses .. viruses are no living cells btw.). So for me, the question how the first living cell originated does not really leave a lot of space for a potential God. It's again the question: HOW were the rules set up (and by whom?) that led to all of this? If you want to find out more on Abiogenesis, check out this splendid article on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis # == The perspective of a philosopher == There are dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands of essays of philosophers and theologists that discuss the (possible) existence of God. Also let's not forget that philosophers also used to be natural scientists. In fact, a lot of the most famous scientists also conducted philosophical research (as science and philosophy used to be one entity for a long time). I cannot possibly provide you with an exhaustive list of essays. From what I have found, most philosophers argue with the existance of God for things we cannot answer otherwise. I want to give you some examples. ### St. Thomas Aquinas (13th century): > "In the world, we can see that things are caused. But it is not possible for something to be the cause of itself because this would entail that it exists prior to itself, which is a contradiction. If that by which it is caused is itself caused, then it too must have a cause. But this cannot be an infinitely long chain, so, therefore, there must be a cause which is not itself caused by anything further. This everyone understands to be God." This directly corresponds to what I wrote in the previous chapters. We can observe and explain things up to a point. We can not observe nor explain what was the *initial* cause of everything (eg. who or what caused the Big Bang? How was the initial energy/matter created?) ### Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109): I like this theorem pretty much, because it perfectly illustrates how "meta" the concept of God can be thought of: 1. It is a conceptual truth (or, so to speak, true by definition) that God is a being than which none greater can be imagined (that is, the greatest possible being that can be imagined). 2. God exists as an idea in the mind. 3. A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind. 4. Thus, if God exists only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God (that is, a greatest possible being that does exist). 5. But we cannot imagine something that is greater than God (for it is a contradiction to suppose that we can imagine a being greater than the greatest possible being that can be imagined.) 6. Therefore, God exists. There is also a lot of criticism. I see these "proofs" as nice thought experiments, but I am not sure how much weight can be given to them. I find it interesting that these "proofs" don't claim anything from a morale point of view (what you should do and what you shouldn't do). They just cover the conceptual nature of God. What is your opinion? # == The perspective of a technician == *or: Why I stopped thinking about this question ...* Being a technician myself, I especially take into account that by definition, there are things that science can never explain. But as humans, we have it "in our genes" that we always ask why and how. For all the stuff that could not have been explained 1000 years ago, God has been given as the answer. A lot of things changed since then. With scientific and technological progress, we are able to answer more and more questions. But we will never be able to explain EVERYTHING. From a technician's point of view , I want to present to you my simplified version of an argument by French physicist and philosopher Blaise Pascal (1623-1662): 1. If I believe and there is a God, I'm fine 2. If I believe and there is no God, I'm fine 3. If I don't believe and there is no God, I'm fine 4. If I don't believe and there is God, ...... well ...... Thank you for your patience :) *DigitalDarwin*

God exists as an idea in the mind.\n3. A being that exists as an idea in the mind and in reality is, other things being equal, greater than a being that exists only as an idea in the mind.\n4. Thus, if God exists only as an idea in the mind, then we can imagine something that is greater than God (that is, a greatest possible being that does exist).\n5. But we cannot imagine something that is greater than God (for it is a contradiction to suppose that we can imagine a being greater than the greatest possible being that can be imagined.)\n6. Therefore, God exists.\n\nThere is also a lot of criticism. I see these \"proofs\" as nice thought experiments, but I am not sure how much weight can be given to them.\n\nI find it interesting that these \"proofs\" don't claim anything from a morale point of view (what you should do and what you shouldn't do). They just cover the conceptual nature of God. What is your opinion?\n\n\n# == The perspective of a technician ==\n*or: Why I stopped thinking about this question ...*\n\nBeing a technician myself, I especially take into account that by definition, there are things that science can never explain. But as humans, we have it \"in our genes\" that we always ask why and how. For all the stuff that could not have been explained 1000 years ago, God has been given as the answer. A lot of things changed since then. With scientific and technological progress, we are able to answer more and more questions. But we will never be able to explain EVERYTHING.\n\nFrom a technician's point of view , I want to present to you my simplified version of an argument by French physicist and philosopher Blaise Pascal (1623-1662):\n\n1. If I believe and there is a God, I'm fine\n2. If I believe and there is no God, I'm fine\n3. If I don't believe and there is no God, I'm fine\n4. If I don't believe and there is God, ...... well ......\n\nThank you for your patience :)\n*DigitalDarwin*",
