Wiatt doesn't have much time for anything outside of her work, but she is happy. She does have a live in boyfriend, Steven, who also has a hectic work schedule. J.C. doesn't know what to do when she ends up with custody of Elizabeth, the baby of a distant relative that she hasn't seen in years. She struggles with the changes in her life while her relationship with Steven ends. Things happen that cause her to decide to buy a house in Vermont and move there with Elizabeth. J.C. faces expensive repairs, starting a new relationship with local veterinarian Jeff Cooper, and starting her own business making gourmet baby food. \n \nThe plot for Baby Boom isn't complicated and ends up being predictable overall. Some viewers may be disappointed by that, though I still think the movie is entertaining. J.C. and her very busy lifestyle are introduced during the first several minutes of the movie. It doesn't take long for Elizabeth to turn up and change things for J.C.'s life. Most of what happens is predictable. I wasn't surprised by any of the major developments, though one or two minor things are slightly surprising. \n \nJ.C. adjusting to having a baby to take care of is the main focus of Baby Boom. She tries to refuse taking Elizabeth at first, but ends up taking her. She struggles to deal with Elizabeth for a while, and is even on the verge of giving her up for adoption at one point before deciding to keep her. J.C. has a very demanding job, and her decision to keep Elizabeth impacts her work. Several scenes deal with J.C. bonding with Elizabeth without putting her into a lot of silly situations with the baby. There are a few montage type of scenes that show the changes in J.C. that work fairly well. The movie isn't bogged down with a lot of useless subplots. I think that makes the plot stronger. Some things connected to how J.C. is adjusting to Elizabeth do add a little bit of humor. Once J.C. moves to Vermont, there are a few situations there that are funny. J.C. is not use to living in the country and she clearly has no idea how to deal with some situations. She does have a bit of a flip out at one point after something else has gone wrong with the house. Her flip out isn't that huge, but it does add humor. Her first meeting with Jeff ends up being a bit funny as well. The movie doesn't have gross or crude humor. That type of humor wouldn't have worked for the movie at all. \n \nWhen Baby Boom begins, J.C. is living with Steven. They have been in a relationship for a while, though they have no plans to get married. Both of them work really long hours and don't have much time to devote to the relationship. That does manage to work for the relationship. Based on one scene, it seems like there is no passion in their relationship even though they have sex. The one time it is clear that they are having sex, they are done almost before they start. It isn't surprising that the relationship doesn't last. After being in Vermont for a while, J.C. starts spending some time with Jeff after a rocky first meeting. Not much is shown happening between them either, so there really isn't a lot of romance for the movie. \n \nJ.C. is the main character in Baby Boom and she receives the most attention. She is devoted to her career and on track to becoming a partner before getting Elizabeth. After that, her priorities slowly start changing. She does struggle with being a mother at first, but she starts figuring things out. J.C. does go through some changes over the course of the movie. I do like Diane Keaton in the part. Elizabeth isn't very old, so Kristina and Michelle Kennedy don't have a lot to do. They are really cute in the part. Fritz isn't around that much, so Sam Wanamaker doesn't have a lot to do. James Spader turns up briefly as Ken, a younger man that J.C. has worked with. Jeff is the character in Vermont that is shown the most even though he isn't in a lot of the movie. He is the vet for the town and he seems to be a nice guy. Sam Shepherd handles the part fine. The other people around the small town in Vermont aren't shown that much. \n \n \nI can't remember if I first saw Baby Boom on television. I have seen the movie several times over the years, usually on television, and I'll still watch it when I find it on.  \n \nBaby Boom is an entertaining movie even though it is predictable. Fans of Diane Keaton should give it a chance.",

He came up with different things, but had recently been claiming to be a Prince who was trying to raise money to help the people of his country. Freddie Benson was a small time con man from America looking to take advantage of women in the Riviera. The two men didn’t get along, but Lawrence did agree to work with Freddie and teach him to improve his conning abilities. \n \nThe two men actually worked well together for a while running a con that had Freddy pretending to be Lawrence’s special brother. Freddy wanted to go out on his own while Lawrence just wanted Freddie to leave town. I have never seen the original movie, though from the little bit I did read, it sounds like the plot was almost identical. Even the names of the main characters were the same. Since I haven’t seen the earlier movie, I have no idea what would have been changed for the new version. A musical version debuted on Broadway a few years ago and I believe it was successful. \n \nDirty Rotten Scoundrels was mostly focused on the rivalry between Lawrence and Freddie. The movie wasn’t really complicated even though a lot was going on. I thought that the idea for the plot was interesting and made for an entertaining movie. I thought I knew how certain things would work out, but I was wrong. At first it seemed like the movie would be predictable. That wasn’t the case since there were a few surprises. Lawrence had been living there and running his sophisticated cons for a while. I’m not sure how long he had been there, but I’m thinking he had been running his cons there for several years at least. He seemed firmly established in the area and local connections. The town was full of wealthy residents as well as being a vacation destination for wealthy tourists. It really was a beautiful location. I’m not sure if the town depicted in the movie was real or just footage combined from different cities. It did look like a realistic city to me, though I’ve never been to the Riviera, so I could be wrong about how realistic it looked. \n \nDirty Rotten Scoundrels was a funny movie overall even though there were some scenes that didn’t have any humor at all in them. Those were the scenes that tended to be a little slower paced. I wasn’t bored by the slower parts, but some people could feel differently. Most of the humor happened when Freddy and Lawrence were working together to con women. The way that Freddy acted when he was pretending to be Lawrence’s brother was really funny even though those scenes did get silly. Freddy was a bit over the top during that part of the movie, but it fit in perfectly with the con he and Lawrence were running at the time. He was only shown posing as a prince trying to raise money to help the people of his country. I don’t remember ever hearing what country he was supposed to be from. It was made clear that he didn’t have a problem sleeping with the women he targeted. There were a few sexual discussions and a few sexual situations without there being any actual sex scenes. I don’t remember hearing any swearing. The movie was rated PG, so there wasn’t anything too objectionable in it. \n \nLawrence was a very refined, sophisticated man who made his living conning female tourists. He put a lot of effort into his work and even had a local police officer named Andre helping. He was able to think quickly when opportunities presented themselves. Michael Caine was very good and believable in the part. I do think he was funnier in Miss Congeniality. \n \nFreddie had heard about all the rich women in the Riviera which was why he decided to go there. He’d been content with getting small amounts from women until he got to the Riviera and discovered there was potential to do so much better. He wanted to learn from Lawrence and have that sort of success, but he did get impatient with the process. She was in town on vacation and the men spotted her just as she was arriving at her hotel. She was very sweet and trusting, so she believed all the bizarre things that Freddy and Lawrence came up with. Glenne Headly fit the part well and did a good job with it. Ian McDiarmid turned up in the small part of Arthur, Lawrence’s butler. McDiarmid is probably best known for his part in the Star Wars movies. Anton Rodgers turned up every so often as Andre, the local police officer who assisted Lawrence. \n \nDirty Rotten Scoundrels was a funny, entertaining movie that is worth watching. Fans of Steve Martin or Michael Caine should give the movie a chance.",

He is a scientist/naturalist that is sent by the government to observe the effect of wolves on the vanishing Caribou in the Arctic, thereby justifying the bounty placed on the wolves and the mass killings of these poor beasts. It is a very artsy film, almost documentary in its presentation, with narration by the Mowat character and long artistic shots of the arctic and of the wolves. While it has a beautiful presentation--it is a bit slow. He also discovers the wonders of nature as he observes these wolves caring for their young and interacting with their pack. It is laid out like a fine painting. Everything is crafted very well visually. I enjoyed it very much just to watch like a moving painting. Charles Martin Smith is great as the naturalist Tyler who in the beginning doesn't know why he took the job. But as the observing the wolves give him back his passion for science he remembers why he became a naturalist in the first place. Plus he was great as a city living guy dumped in the arctic to survive. We could really watch him grow as a character. Zachary Ittimangnaq was great as the old Inuit, Ootek. He gives Tyler wisdom about surviving and about the spiritual nature and real nature of the wolves. They do it because they love it and nature and because they believe in it. Lovely film--but only watch it if you are in the mood for a documentary style journey into nature.",
