Demasiado complejo, demasiado ambicioso. Esta semana, Kotaku ha contado que EA había cancelado el proyecto del juego de Star Wars de mundo abierto. Para explicarlo hay que recordar que otro estudio, Visceral Games, estaba desarrollando, con el apoyo de EA Vancouver, un juego de Star Wars. Repentinamente este estudio cerró y los de Vancouver iniciaron un nuevo proyecto de mundo abierto, pero haciendo uso de parte de lo trabajado por Visceral. La entrega de Star Wars que habían ideado en EA Vancouver se llamaba Orca y presentaba un concepto muy bien definido. En este juego nos pondríamos en la piel de un cazador de recompensas que para cumplir con los objetivos viaja por diversos planetas. Pero Electronic Arts lo ha parado. El motivo, según explican en Kotaku, es que el título era demasiado ambicioso. Demasiado porque al ser un mundo abierto dentro del universo de Star Wars la complejidad del videojuego crecía. Todo ello traducido en tiempo, que es lo que hicieron los directivos de EA, significaba que el plan de trabajo se alargaba mucho, demasiado en el tiempo. Pero EA no renuncia a la licencia 'Star Wars' Entonces, ¿EA ya no va a desarrollar juegos de Star Wars? Para nada. Sería absurdo dejar de trabajar bajo el amparo de esa licencia oficial. No, simplemente, el estudio va a desarrollar títulos más sencillos que puedan dar réditos en el corto o medio plazo. El juego de Star Wars en el que EA sí va a trabajar desde ya debe estar listo para ser lanzado en 2020. De ese modo, de paso, saldría ya para las nuevas consolas que se espera vayan sacando Sony y Microsoft. Electronic Arts no ha desmentido este cambio de planes. A la vista de las informaciones de Kotaku, el estudio lanzó un comunicado en el que comentaba que ha habido \"especulaciones sobre uno de nuestros proyectos de Star Wars\". El texto añadía: \"Como parte de nuestro proceso creativo, el gran trabajo realizado por nuestro equipo en Vancouver continúa y evolucionará en futuros juegos y contenidos de Star Wars. Estamos completamente comprometidos en la elaboración de más juegos de Star Wars y estamos muy emocionados por Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order de Respawn. Compartiremos más sobre nuevos proyectos cuando sea el momento correcto\". En suma, EA quiere sacar un juego de Star Wars pero pronto.
