      "body": "Last week we picked up our second rescue dog. Meet McGee, he is an 11 week old Staffy cross. I was travelling back into the country on the Friday, so had agreed to collect him on the Saturday, we were notified on the Friday afternoon, he had taken ill and was in the vet on a drip, and they were not sure what was wrong with him. We were told to see what he was like on the Monday, if he made it through!       "body": "Way back in 2012 I backed the [Adapteva Parallella Kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adapteva/parallella-a-supercomputer-for-everyone). I was going through a phase of gadgets, and was experimenting will all sorts of electronic boards.\n\nUnfortunately, as work and family evolved, I sort of ran out of time and the kickstarter acquired cluster never made it out of its box other than to look at it.\n\nRoll on to 2017, and despite having made it from Aberdeen to Qatar, where it stayed boxed for over 2 years, then it was time to move on again. This time it made it all the way from Qatar to Cyprus.\n\nOne day I was sat in the villa, and for whatever reason I had the urge to at least open the box and power it up. \n\nThe backing level I supported was the mini-cluster kit. The kit consisted of;\n4 x Parallella 16 cards\n4 x heat sink\n4 x 16GB micro-SD cards\n4 x Power supply\n4 x small Ethernet Patch leads\n1 x 5-port GB Network Switch ([D-Link DGS-1005G](http://us.dlink.com/products/connect/5-port-gigabit-desktop-switch/))\nbag of standoffs for stacking the cards.\n\nThat equates to 16 Parallella cores and 2 ARM cores per card or 72 cores in total.\n\nI downloaded the latest version of both the headless and HDMI images, and wrote the headless one to the supplied SD cards. I didn't have a spare keyboard and mouse to attach to the micro-usb port on each card, so went with the headless image to start with.\n\nAssembling the kit, sticking on the heatsinks and hooking the network switch to my main wifi router, inserted the SD cards and powered up the Parallella cards one by one. October 25 for BitgoinGold. Alts are down and BTC is trading up over $4800.\n\nIn my view it is a really risky move to sell Altcoins to buy an every rising price of Bitcoin. in my view, the best approach is to sit tight. Make sure you have your BTC in a wallet with accessible private keys. Grab some popcorn and ride out the storm.\n\nIf you try to shuffle your assets around to maximise the number of 'free' coins you obtain. you could potentially risk a lot more. After the fork, as people dump BTC for profit and try to buy back into their original positions on the ALTs, the price movements could be significant and fast. Chance is you will end up selling your BTC you just bought for a loss, and buying into your original ALTs at a higher price than what you sold them for.\n\nAnd what for? A coin that is unknown, not yet established, and little support. Look how BitcoinCash has dropped since it forked.\n\nIf anything, this is really just a buying opportunity on the Alts for those looking to a invest some more.\n\nAnd what about Bitcoin Gold anyway, after all that is what the subject is all about?       "body": "Located in the Persian Gulf between Qatar and Iran, we had an unscheduled visitor to the installation.\n\nA Greater Spotted Eagle dropped by to say hello. It had no marking rings on its legs, and appeared to be at home with the crew.
