| body | Peter asked Jesus "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." We have left politics in the hands of a select few, and see where it brought us. N1k could easily afford me 5 liters of fuel 3 years ago. That same amount cannot even get 1 litre. Bad governance doesn't select those it affects. *The hand dey touch everybody.* Supporting tyrants exacts a heavy price. Even APC supporters feel the heat because whatever crumbs they collect is taken back brutally by their master. We don't need online supporters or excuse givers. Go get your PVCs. A new Nigeria is POssible! |

| title | Fish and Taxes |
| body | This story is based on true live events. Almost all characters mentioned are real... Many years ago, in the era of swords, ships and coins, a wealthy family decided to go on a cruise in the country. This was one way for the family to reunite as there was tension between the husband, wife and children. Aboard the ship were all levels of the upper echelon; wealthy, rich and influential. Gold and silver were in abundant supply as the ship was loaded with ancient day coin dispensers. On one of those days, a gold coin slipped from a child's hand while playing and rolled into the sea. Of course, the child could care less about the loss. Under the sea, a school of fish was of course, in school and one of them strayed. As his culture was, he was attracted to shiny things and this gold coin was no exception. He thought he could crack open this little shiny thing, but his failed attempt led to the coin being stuck in his throat. Gasping for breath, he swam to the surface in a disorderly manner, flapping his fins in great pain. Unaware of the direction of the tide, the current took him to the seashore where a man was graciously waiting to relieve him of his agony, or so he thought. Right before he happily dived back into the sea, he overheard the man saying to three men with spears "take, this is the tax for me and my master". Whatever that meant, he didn't care to find out. |

| title | I Hate The Fact That I Know Some Things |
| body | There is a point in every smart person’s life where their brilliance becomes a thorn in the flesh. You know your skills and have mastered them, you can also trace the origin of your traumas. You’ve even read all the books and underlined the important quotes. But nothing has changed. This is because merely having insight does not automatically spur transformation. Knowing why you're stuck is not the same as getting unstuck. And the more intelligent you are, the more elegantly you can explain your own paralysis, with the most flowery words without ever moving. What follows next is a period when your self-doubt become so strong that you begin to question your abilities. However, though, the important thing is to note that while it is a step towards solving your problems, a mere diagnosis will not bring about any change. What’s worse is that the more intelligent you are, the more seductive your stories become. You can out-argue your growth. You can rationalize stagnation so well that it almost sounds like wisdom. “Maybe I just need more time.” “Maybe this is who I am.” “Maybe the world is not ready for me.” Sometimes intelligence doesn’t liberate. It anesthetizes. It gives you the tools to narrate your pain so beautifully that you forget to leave it. |

Knowing why you're stuck is not the same as getting unstuck.\n\nAnd the more intelligent you are, the more elegantly you can explain your own paralysis, with the most flowery words without ever moving.\n\nWhat follows next is a period when your self-doubt become so strong that you begin to question your abilities.\n\nHowever, though, the important thing is to note that while it is a step towards solving your problems, a mere diagnosis will not bring about any change.\n\nWhat’s worse is that the more intelligent you are, the more seductive your stories become. You can out-argue your growth. You can rationalize stagnation so well that it almost sounds like wisdom. “Maybe I just need more time.” “Maybe this is who I am.” “Maybe the world is not ready for me.” \n\nSometimes intelligence doesn’t liberate. It anesthetizes. It gives you the tools to narrate your pain so beautifully that you forget to leave it.",

There are happy days for sad people and sad days for happy people. It revolves like the sun around the earth. Here at daytime, gone by night. I come off as a very confident and smooth talking person, but it wasn't so at a certain point in my life. I was a very timid growing youth. I had a detestable character and attitude and was fairly disliked. Some months ago, I told a lady that I wasn't this outspoken and confident person that she sees now but she doubted it. | body | .jpeg) On my way to work yesterday, I passed by the biggest building in the community, the Synagogue. I saw some bearded men dressed in a long priestly attire, talking in rambles. They seemed agitated. Heh, who cares, that was their thing anyway. Later at noon, my elder brother called to tell me about an uproar going on in the area. His speech wasn't coherent, but I could pick up what he said. "Do you remember the man that brought Kelvin's mum back to life 5 months ago?" Yes I do. Okay, the soldiers are dragging him through the streets with an unknown mob cheering them up. What did he do? No one knows, but they are taking him to the governor's quarters. We will hear the main reason there. Please send me some videos and pictures of what is going on. A lot of thoughts was swirling around in my head. Why was this man taken by the soldiers? He is a good man. He gave us sandwich in the open air crusade he did the other day. That was the best sandwich I have ever had. I quickly left my office and went down to the governor's quarters. Before I could get there, I heard that they have taken him to the place of the crucifixion. Ah! What could he have done that was so bad? I met up with my elder brother and we walked behind the soldiers who were flogging this homly, innocent and good-looking man. Mixed reactions in the crowd. Most of these people do not stay in the community. Did they suddenly migrate here or were they paid to fuel the fire? Making our way back from the crucifixion site for the second time today. I couldn't bear to see Mrs Mary in tears, especially Thelma, one of her daughters. We have a thing going and this is the time she will need me the most. To be a shoulder to lean on. I was livid when I saw some of the soldiers making fun of Jesus even as he hung lifeless on the cross. I wish I could put them in their place but... Few of the men that walked with Jesus came to Mrs Mary's house at night. They came in looking over their shoulders, stayed for a while and left. I know them. They know me too. We were always together anytime Jesus was teaching or performing miracles. Jesus had always said that He will rise again after His death. We all had our fingers crossed, but burial plans was going on underground. Mr and Mrs Joseph didn't doubt that Jesus will resurrect. His disciples were hopeful. Thelma was cryptic. But me on the other hand, phew. I just wanted all of it to end. He said He will resurrect three days after His death. Well, Sunday is Coming. |

| body | .jpg) Scrolling through social media or posting memes can make you feel like you’re the only one finding things difficult. Here or there, everyone is making millions, they’re traveling on vacations, partying and living their best lives, except you. It’s easy to start thinking something is wrong with you or you’re living half of a life. But in real life, small moments remind you of how resilient you actually are. I assure you that if you become influenced by other people’s experiences and miss out on creating yours, you’ll regret it. We oftentimes downplay our relevance in our own lives and the outcome is living ambitious yet unachievable lives. The truth is, while people are virtually crafting their lives into the reality they hope it will be, in the real scheme of things, most people aren’t as ahead as they seem. And you’re not as behind as you think. Life has no leaderboard; you’ll learn to live it at your own pace. If you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, no matter the distance covered, you would have gone the wrong way. The real glow up is living life at your own pace and living it well. Love yourself because a life that is loved is a life that was well lived. |

| title | New Year, New You? OR New Year, Same You? |
| body | .jpeg) There's no single right way to make the best out of this new year. However, in my desperation to understand the cycle of life and what makes people tick, I went around to search and I found a few things some people said were the most impactful things they did last year and how they achieved them. I have also done some introspection by observation and these are the results. (1.) Manage your social relationships better. For your mental health this year, please, have a favourite person. The most impactful thing you can do for yourself is to have a meaningful conversation with somebody you really like "face-to-face” almost every day. (2.) Kindness improves your wellbeing. We have friends we haven’t talked to in a while. We have also seen strangers and desired to compliment them, but we were wondering, "Will my friend respond? Will the stranger think I'm 'famzing' them?" Well, why don't you do it for yourself? Most times we often talk ourselves out of low-lift kindness due to the fear of embarrassment. But showing kindness to other people has a tremendous effect on our selfhood, and also drastically improves our wellbeing. Try it and see. This year, show a little kindness. (3.) It costs zero naira to journal. Try to leave certain details of your life in print. Capture all your memories and make simple reflections. It could be a voicenote, it could be scribbles on your Notes App. It could even be a picture photograph or social media journos. After doing that, take a few minutes before bedtime or anytime during the day to think back on these moments - especially the ones you wish to remember. Without doing too much, you'll feel very fulfilled. I don't know the magic behind this one, but I already do it and it works. .jpeg) (4.) Pick a hobby. Think of something, any activity you will love to join; could be a Book Club, a Jazz Club, Support Groups, Sports Groups, Religious Communities, etc. Belong to a community. Find a group of people who will make room for you and allow you participate. The feeling of belonging and contributing to something meaningful gives you a reason to wake up every day. A lot of us unmistakably suffer bout of loneliness. While we're gathering our monies, try to find time to chill and relax. Belonging to a community improves your wellbeing. (5.) Be friends with children. Children are interesting conversation partners. I learnt from a 6yrs-old how to the eclipse of the sun works, in details. Also learnt that Octopuses have three hearts: two pumps blood to the gills, while the third pumps to rest of the body. From the outside of my gate till I get to my apartment, I hug, carry and give high-fives to almost all the children who sing my name like an anthem. I call most of them my children. (6.) Apologise like your life depends on it. Acknowledging wrongdoing is difficult. And apologising can be even more difficult. But apologies should be more than just saying sorry. An effective apology should contain the apology and acknowledgement for the reason of the apology. Follow this with an assurance not to do wrong again; and then an explanation for the way you've acted - this is depending on if they need to hear the explanation in the first place. Lastly, conclude with a plan on how to fix things to avoid circling back to the problem again. Trust me, this will help you a great lot. I have experienced and witnessed it first-hand and I know the feeling, especially when it is with your lover. (7.) Express emotions. Look for expressive ways to describe emotions. People will be unable to understand you if you don't let them understand you. How do you feel? I feel like a knife has been inserted into my back, and is being squeezed by the one person I trusted the most. (Some people can do things but it wasn't their intention to hurt you. This was one-time my reality). Sadly, I think that western therapy has offered us complex sounding words that only pass for catchphrases. Words like gaslighting for instance, have become so misconstrued. Instead of relying on big sounding terms, try to be descriptive when discussing your emotions and experience. We are not all mind readers. (8.) Know when to quit. I must say that I agree with this one even though I constantly talk about holding on. On your own accord know when holding on will prove detrimental to you. This year, wield the power of knowing when to walk away. Some situations do not serve you any good. You either serve or be served. (9.) Lastly, don't take advice from everyone. Yes. Feel free to ignore everything you've just read if it does not align with your life. Advice is only good advice if it's applicable. Once an advice is not practical, it can be good advice for everyone, but not for you. My friends, I think that anything that brings joy to others or helps them in some way also helps us too. I've tasked myself to pick one or two of these and tag with them. I think they're practical enough. With this, I'll say cheers to 2025; the beginning of our best years yet. |

"title": "New Year, New You? OR New Year, Same You?",
"body": ".jpeg)\nThere's no single right way to make the best out of this new year. However, in my desperation to understand the cycle of life and what makes people tick, I went around to search and I found a few things some people said were the most impactful things they did last year and how they achieved them.\n\nI have also done some introspection by observation and these are the results.\n\n(1.) Manage your social relationships better. For your mental health this year, please, have a favourite person. The most impactful thing you can do for yourself is to have a meaningful conversation with somebody you really like \"face-to-face” almost every day.\n\n(2.) Kindness improves your wellbeing. We have friends we haven’t talked to in a while. We have also seen strangers and desired to compliment them, but we were wondering, \"Will my friend respond? Will the stranger think I'm 'famzing' them?\" Well, why don't you do it for yourself?\n\nMost times we often talk ourselves out of low-lift kindness due to the fear of embarrassment. But showing kindness to other people has a tremendous effect on our selfhood, and also drastically improves our wellbeing. Try it and see. This year, show a little kindness.\n\n(3.) It costs zero naira to journal. Try to leave certain details of your life in print. Capture all your memories and make simple reflections. It could be a voicenote, it could be scribbles on your Notes App. It could even be a picture photograph or social media journos.\n\nAfter doing that, take a few minutes before bedtime or anytime during the day to think back on these moments - especially the ones you wish to remember. Without doing too much, you'll feel very fulfilled. I don't know the magic behind this one, but I already do it and it works.\n\n.jpeg)\n\n(4.) Pick a hobby. Think of something, any activity you will love to join; could be a Book Club, a Jazz Club, Support Groups, Sports Groups, Religious Communities, etc. Belong to a community. Find a group of people who will make room for you and allow you participate.\n\nThe feeling of belonging and contributing to something meaningful gives you a reason to wake up every day. | title | Live Long Enough and You'll See Everything! |
| body | .jpg) “Imagination is more important than knowledge” - Albert Einstein. This is a very important quote and it is not as easy to imagine things as we think. Especially when our minds are occupied by the mundane. I write every day but I don’t think deep enough daily anymore (this issue ended in August, gladly). I have enjoyed the privilege of moving a lot since the start of September, and it has given me the edge of activating my mind. Meeting new people has opened up the memories of the life I once enjoyed and the thrills of what is to come. Deep thinking comes from deep introspection after observation. When we react all the time to stimuli, it is harder to think beyond the surface to understand deeper phenomena. This is a prerequisite for creativity and why we must empty our minds frequently to allow room for it. People meet me outside and are surprised that I am more reserved but approachable. I met someone at the mall recently and he was shouting "sharp shooter". What is that?? I was having lunch with some people and they only wanted to discuss work stuff. I made them realize that I didn’t want to. I am able to write things here because of things I observe and record in real life with my mind. People are also able to relate because they are moving around in real life. I am getting worried that we are gradually losing touch with reality and going more synthetic. I realize that my mind is becoming free from the inconvenience of the weight I have carried for months now and it is getting more responsive. |

Some folks, some things in them have been so broken that they can never be free. But until we are all free, none of us is free. Happiness is the art of letting go of grief. We are responsible for this by ourselves. As such, anyone who chooses to drop his chains will soar. There is no way to break loose from the horrible past events occurrences. The best we can do is to not dwell too long in those moments. Slowly walk your mind back to the good times while envisaging a better future. It is a continuous effort for our journey here. |

The thought of a bank comes much later as I am not very prone to having banking issues, but I still have to find the necessary ones since I cannot foresee emergencies. I think I like it here. I am looking to buy a photography camera, meet new people and still deliver on my purpose here. |

They are relentless in their pursuits, demonstrating remarkable resilience and tenacity. However, beneath this exterior of strength lies a deep emotional vulnerability. They may struggle with their feelings, finding it challenging to express or manage their emotions. This contrast creates a complex inner world where their strong will pushes them forward, but their emotional fragility can sometimes make them feel overwhelmed or misunderstood. Their journey is one of navigating this duality, striving for balance between their unbreakable resolve and their tender hearts. |

Second is how I’ll feel when I see you in it, the other reasons are... But, I think the designer still has a lot of work to do on it. I’ve got the idea part of it covered, just so it is fit for a queen. Let me know what you think. Great material, right? Yeah, I see it too. To my Four Letter Worded Name from Nine. | title | Words are Things. |
| body | One thing about words - especially written words - is how they mean nothing to you until you're put in a circumstance when you can easily relate. You'll read some notes about grief, you may feel it, fair, like an itch on a surface: but it does not call to you with any urgency. Read about love, with your loveless mind, it may seem like just another poem. But when you have recently found a lover, the newly occupied space, finds ways to wrap itself around those words you have just read. Like James Baldwin said, "we resonate with them, because we have found precedence in those words. You'll read some notes about grief, you may feel it, fair, like an itch on a surface: but it does not call to you with any urgency.\n\nRead about love, with your loveless mind, it may seem like just another poem. But when you have recently found a lover, the newly occupied space, finds ways to wrap itself around those words you have just read.\n\nLike James Baldwin said, \"we resonate with them, because we have found precedence in those words. | body | Today looks gloomy, just like other days since the issue with my girlfriend started. There's a flicker of hope on some days that put the spark back in my life making it look brighter. I am on a job with my friend this morning and I feel like crying. I don't know why but my heart feels heavy. It is the situation with my girlfriend and the fact that I don't have any job and no place where money comes in from. I don't have suicidal thoughts, but I just want everything to end. I want to come out from this place. This valley. How did I get here? This is the longest I have been here. The person who has made this year worth while is the person who is heightening my woes because I hurt her. Will the relationship end because I delayed by 36 hours to give you the money you saved in my hands? I feel hurt because she is going with a huge part of me. I have shared my life's stories with her. There's probably nothing about me that she doesn't already know but I don't know anything about her. .jpeg) She pointed out many areas where she thinks I am flawed, but she obviously doesn't know me at all. Nothing seems to be working in my life at the moment. My heart is heavy as I type this and I pray I don't go off the deep end. I am trying to keep it together, forgive my awkwardness. |

| body | Some nights like this one, I cannot bring myself to sleep. Although it’s not because I am waiting for the propeller in my head to stop churning out these thoughts for my mind to imagine, but just because I am tired of this house. I have been speaking about moving. In fact, I have already told every of my friends that by now I am beginning to suspect that they probably think I am silently asking them to assist me with moving. But it’s this house. Nights on this bed are becoming somewhat overbearing. The air that I breathe, it feels like I am recycling air from the previous night. And so, I lay down straight and inhale slowly. I put my hand beside my body and stretch my legs like an unmoving corpse. I lie so still that I can hear the oscillation of the fan in the sitting room. I close my eyes and imagine the mosquitoes as planes. I wonder what country they’re flying from or which continent they're headed. Europe is somewhere around my feet because I wear socks when I sleep and my trouser, no matter how long it is doesn't appreciate the warmth of the socks. The places around my head is Africa. I never let them close to Africa. I stay like this and think for a while, until sleep begins to call my mind and it slowly starts to rebel. Reality quickly starts fading and dreams begin to take the place of my memories. I don’t fight it any longer. I yawn quietly, grateful that sleep has found me at last. One thought that constantly swirls in my head is the thought of my lover. My favorite person. A four letter worded name from nine that means the world to me. .png) |

| title | Maybe Business is Not Your Thing, Young Man. |
| body | .jpg) An old man is selling watermelons. His price list reads: 1 for $3 3 for $10 A young man stops by and asks to buy one watermelon. "That'd be 3 dollars", says the old man. The young man then buys another one and another one, paying $3 for each. As the young man is walking away, he turns around, grins, and says: "Hey, old man, do you realize I bought three watermelons for only $9? Maybe business is not your thing." The older man smiles and mumbles to himself: "People are funny. Every time they buy three watermelons instead of one, they keep trying to teach me how to do business." 😁 (Story from Alvinfoo). |
