Opening you heart to someone or a group of people is absolutely nerve racking but we were meant to share our selves with the people we trust. Making myself vulnerable is one the greatest and also most miserable experiences of my life.  It allowed to me experience heightened happiness as well as a sinking sadness.       "body": "Will Death Do Us Part?\n\nThe idea that we can upload our conscience to a computer had been circulating our culture and the scientific community for a while. Just recently, I have been hung up on this subject after watching s4 e6 of black mirror. In this instance, the person whose conscience was uploaded was approaching death. So the questions I asked myself is, is this a way to cheat death and is this a sufficient alternative to the family and friends of the deceased?\n\nIn the episode of Black mirror, the character who is dying has their conscience uploaded to a version of a computer in the form of a neural implant into the spouses brain. The deceased is able to live in the conscience of the spouse and see what they see. This sounds like a great idea at first but slowly the negative repercussions start to come to fruition. The spouse is not able to feel comfortable moving on to another partner and moving on in general because of the voice in his head. Eventually this escalates to being able to shut the implant off which in a way is being able to remove the former lover from existence and play God.\n\nThe aspect that the show doesn't touch on is how would this look to the religious communities. Many people, including myself, think that the conscience is part of the soul. I think that the conscience is part of the soul because the soul is made up of who you are not what you are. If someone says \"your soul is dammed\" are you being dammed because of the things you've done or because of something physical like not having the perfect health and physique?\n\nIf the soul is in fact part of the conscience, are we not letting the conscience fully lay to rest if the brain is still active in a new form or machine? Such technology may be far in the horizon or not happen at all but there are questions to be asked beyond the technical aspects. \n\nI would like to end this post with one question; are we potentially robbing the eternal rest of our loved ones and not letting their soul experience what is after death because of our own selfish needs?
