Paduan ganjil antara subyek yang difoto misalkan ada maneken atau ada patung malaikat di taman atau di tempat yang semestinya bukan tempat maneken atau patung malaikat tersebut. Sehingga saat di foto terlihat paduan yang ganjil dan sering disebut surealisme. Pengaruh surealisme ini besar pada foto jalanan.\n\nFotografer yang memotret di jalan tidak semuanya akan terlihat surealisme, bahkan ada fotografer yang puluhan tahun bereksperimen di jalan dan foto-fotonya tidak mencerminkan jurnalistik atau bukan untuk dipasang di majalah atau surat kabar. Harry Callahan memotret jalanan dan dipengaruhi oleh pelukis Balthus, dia bereksperimen dengan memotret gap antar bangungan, jendela, memotret jalananan di malam hari, memotret cropping pejalan kaki, dan banyak eksperimen lainnya. Fotografi jalanan umumnya memuat objek yang diambil di ruang terbuka publik dalam kondisi candid atau tanpa pengarahan. Belum ada kesepakatan mengenai padanan yang baku untuk street photography dalam bahasa Indonesia, namun istilah fotografi jalanan sering dipakai dalam beberapa kesempatan. Foto-foto dalam street photography dapat mengambil lokasi dari berbagai ruang publik seperti jalan, pasar, mal, terminal, stasiun kereta api, dan sebagainya.\n\nFotografi jalanan termasuk gaya yang paling tua sudah mulai di Malaysia oleh Lambert dan beberapa fotografer di era penjajahan belanda di Indonesia. Istilah ini lebih tepat berdekatan dengan fotografi jurnalistik. Walaupun awal perkembangannya ada aliran surealisme seperti Bill Brandt, Henri Cartier Bresson. Walaupun gaya Bresson berubah setelah masuk Magnum menjadi gaya yang lebih mudah dimengerti dan bisa masuk kategori foto kehidupan sehari-hari di jalan raya. Paduan ganjil antara subyek yang difoto misalkan ada maneken atau ada patung malaikat di taman atau di tempat yang semestinya bukan tempat maneken atau patung malaikat tersebut. Sehingga saat di foto terlihat paduan yang ganjil dan sering disebut surealisme. Pengaruh surealisme ini besar pada foto jalanan.\n\nFotografer yang memotret di jalan tidak semuanya akan terlihat surealisme, bahkan ada fotografer yang puluhan tahun bereksperimen di jalan dan foto-fotonya tidak mencerminkan jurnalistik atau bukan untuk dipasang di majalah atau surat kabar. Harry Callahan memotret jalanan dan dipengaruhi oleh pelukis Balthus, dia bereksperimen dengan memotret gap antar bangungan, jendela, memotret jalananan di malam hari, memotret cropping pejalan kaki, dan banyak eksperimen lainnya.
