titleAdolescent Psychology
body
Adolescence is the intermediary stage of growth between childhood and adulthood. It represents the period of time during which a person is subjected to an array of biological transformations and runs into a number of emotional tribulations. The ages, which are termed to be part of adolescence, vary by ethnicity and extend from the preteens to nineteen years. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), adolescence encompasses the epoch of life between 10 and 20 years of age. Adolescence is an especially unstable as well as a vibrant period of any person?s life.

Adolescent psychology deals with the issues related with adolescence. Numerous psychologists all over the world now recognize this as a distinct phenomenon. This has led to the establishment of a separate class of specialized psychologists to deal with the issues of the adolescence. The American Psychological Association has a special segment to assist them.

Psychological issues of adolescents may include maturity in body, which leads to a curiosity about sexual activities, sometimes leading to teenage pregnancy. Apart from that, there is a tendency to experiment with drug and alcohol use.

In some cases, cerebral problems such as schizophrenia, eating disorders, and depression may also arise during adolescence. The emotional insecurity among some adolescents may also tend to cause instances of crime among youth. It is often seen that searching for a distinctive identity is one of the problems that adolescents face. It is also common for individuals to express their desire to be more like their role models such as athletes, rock or pop stars, and film and television performers.

Relationship with peers plays an important role in analyzing adolescent psychology. It is seen that 90% of adolescents associate themselves with a peer group. Adolescents receiving support from their peers are less probable to fall into depression or face anxiety. It is also seen that depressed individuals find it difficult to make friends. The nature of an adolescent?s behavior is greatly influenced by his friends and companions. Adolescent psychology has gained prime importance in the recent past due to increased cases being reported about adolescent depression and anxiety.

titleControlling Penis Odor Caused by Alcohol
body
For many, this summer has been an especially hot one - and more than a few dudes have addressed that heavy heat situation by knocking back a fair share of cold ones. While a frosty beer can feel especially good when the temperature soars, it's possible that imbibing alcohol - whether in the form of beer, wine or liquor - can contribute to a penis odor situation in some men. And since rank penis odor is a major penis health concern for many, and since the summer weather can also contribute to increased levels of penis odor, guys may want to take some steps to address this problem.

Alcohol and penis odor

To be fair, alcohol intake doesn't create penis odor alone; rather, consumption of alcohol, especially in large quantities, is associated with increased body odor all around, include the penis. The nasty tinge that alcohol can provide to a person's breath - especially the morning after sinking a few too many - is already well known. But alcohol can in some cases create an odor which permeates the body itself.

This alcohol-based body odor is more typically found among people who habitually overindulge in alcohol. For an alcoholic, the result can be an aroma that lingers on a long-term basis, and a thorough "drying out" is necessary before the smell goes away.

But for the casual alcohol consumer, the issue usually occurs from the occasional "binge," in which a man who usually drinks only a small amount of alcohol at a time goes overboard and drinks substantially more than usual. Typically, when a person drinks in moderation, the body metabolizes about 90% of the alcohol. The remaining 10% or so gets passed from the body through urination and sweat. But if a man drinks too much alcohol at one time, the body metabolizes a smaller percentage, and more and more leaves the body through sweat.

The sweat-delivered alcohol has a distinct and unpleasant aroma, and when it leaves the body through sweat around the penis, the resulting penis odor can be especially rank.

What to do

Clearly, the easiest way to avoid this particular penis odor problem is to not drink. (And if a person is a problem drinker, getting professional help to stop drinking can make a big difference in much more important areas than penis odor control.) But for the casual drinker, there are some ways to help reduce the degree of alcohol-related penis odor.

- Pace yourself. Leaving time between drinks gives the body more time to metabolize more of the alcohol.

- Drink water. Staying well hydrated also helps with the metabolization. Drinking a glass of water between beers can make a difference. It also transfers more of the alcohol to the urinary system, so less is available to be eliminate through skin pores.

- Don't drink on an empty stomach. By the same token, some food helps to absorb a portion of the alcohol.

- Don't mix drinks. Odors tend to be stronger when there are several different alcohols in the mix.

- Maintain penis health. Fighting penis odor caused by alcohol intake is much easier when the penis itself is in good shape. One easy way to work toward this goal is the daily application of a first rate penis health creme (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Among the many ingredients that an effective crème should contain is vitamin A. This vitamin is renowned for its anti-bacterial properties, and these can help to eliminate persistent penis odor. The crème should also contain alpha lipoic acid. This is a potent antioxidant and is needed in order to limit any oxidative stress damage that can come from the presence of excess free radicals.

titleWindbg Minidump Tutorial - Setting Up & Reading Minidump Files
body
This is a tutorial on how to configure and read your minidump files when you receive a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) in order to better understand the cause of the problem. The first thing is the first. Download the latest debugging tools from the Microsoft site.

Then go to Start / Launch search. Type i

the command cmd.

Then change the directories to:

C: Program Files Debugging Tools for Windows (x86)

using the command:

cd c: program file debugging tools for windows (x86)

It is case insensitive when using the CD order.

Then type:
windbg.exe zc: windowsminidumpmini06190901.dmp c "! analyze v"

Your minidump file is located in C: WindowsMinidumpMini06200901.dmp. It will be in the form "MiniMMDDYY01.dmp".

CORE SYMBOLS ARE WRONG. PLEASE ATTACH SYMBOLS TO MAKE ANALYSIS

If somewhere in the output of the bug check scan you see an error like:

The core symbols are FALSE. Please attach symbols to do the analysis.

Then there is a good chance that you are using previous and incompatible symbols or corrupted files or you do not have the correct symbols in the specified location when the Windbg program tried to parse the minidump file. So what I did was open the Windbg program located at C: Program Files Debugging Tools for Windows (x86) (under Vista and I believe it is the same location for XP).

SETTING THE PATH OF THE SYMBOL FILE VIA THE WINDBG COMMAND LINE:

This is an important step, so make sure your symbol path file is set correctly, lest the kernel symbols be bad error or other types of errors. Now set the symbol file path (file path / symbol file) to:

SRVe: symbols[path to microsoft symbols path]

However, for some reason I have found that to set the symbol file path in the "File / Symbol Path" field, you cannot change it directly with the "File / Symbol Path" field. So what I found you need to change it through the Windbg command window by going to:

"Display / Control"

At the bottom of the command window next to the "kd>" prompt, type this:

.sympath SRVe: symbols[path to microsoft symbols path].

The part between the two asterisks () is where the symbols for Microsoft's servers will be downloaded. It's quite large (around 22MB), so make sure you have enough disk space.

SETTING THE SYMBOL FILE PATH IN THE VARIABLE ENVIRONMENT:

You can also set it in your environment variable in your system or user environment variable. To do this, click on the WINDOWS KEY + e. The WINDOWS KEY is the key to the right of the LEFT CTRL key on the keyboard. This will open Windows Explorer.

Then click on "Advanced system settings" at the top left of the window. This step only applies to Vista. For XP users, just click on the Advanced tab.

Then click on the "Environment variable" button at the bottom of the window.

Then click on the "New" button under System variables. Again, you can create the environment as a user environment variable instead.

In the "Variable name" type:
_NT_SYMBOL_PATH

In the "Variable value" type:
symsrvsymsrv.dlle: symbols[path to microsoft symbols path]

If you set the symbol file path as a system environment variable I think you may need to restart your computer for it to take effect.

WINDBG COMMAND EXIT

So the following is the output of my crash:

Microsoft (R) Windows debugger version 6.11.0001.404 X86
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. titleDrinking May Reduce The Risk Of Certain Diseases, But Don't Get Too Excited, Texas
body
Heavy drinking may lead to more than alcoholism, according to recent studies. A report appearing online, to be published later in a print version of The International Journal of Cancer, revealed that women who drink an average of more than two alcoholic beverages a day double their chances of being diagnosed with endometrial cancer, compared with those who drink less. Benefits, however, have been seen in other studies for those who only drink moderately.

The study was conducted on a multiethnic group of 41,574 postmenopausal women, following each subject for an average of eight years. In that time, 324 individuals were diagnosed with endometrial cancer, or cancer of the lining of the uterus, and drinking and eating habits were evaluated based on questionnaires. After controlling for variables such as body mass index (BMI), age, hormone therapy and history of pregnancy, researchers found that those who consumed more than two alcoholic beverages a day -- be they beer, wine or hard liquor -- were twice as likely to get endometrial cancer as those who drank two or less.

For Texas women, this could be of vital importance. Texas isn't exactly known for its lack of alcohol consumption, and every year, thousands of women in the state are diagnosed with gynecological cancers. While breast cancer beats endometrial for the annual tally of those diagnosed in Texas -- breast is the third leading cancer diagnosis, behind lung and colon/rectal -- it also stands a better chance of being cured without major surgery. And yet one-quarter of the state is living without health insurance, a circumstance that typically leads to less access to healthcare, according to recent studies conducted by the Commonwealth Fund. Despite having some of the nation's best medical facilities located in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, many uninsured women do not have open access to them.

No one is sure why heavy alcohol consumption increases risk so much. The theory is that alcohol raises estrogen levels, which, in turn, increases mutations and DNA replication errors -- precursors to cancer -- over long periods of time.

"Relatively few studies have examined the relationship between endometrial cancer and drinking...If this is a true association, that's one more lifestyle change women can make," said Veronica Wendy Setiawan, lead researcher of the study and assistant professor of research at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

According to the National Cancer Institute, 40,000 women are hit with endometrial cancer in this country every year and over 7,000 will die. At this time, there is no known cure for the disease, though it is considered highly treatable if caught early; the solution is usually to remove the uterus itself and hope the cancer has not metastasized (i.e., spread to other parts of the body). Treatment can also include removing the fallopian tubes and ovaries, performing a pelvic lymph node dissection, and/or a laparoscopic lymph node sampling, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and natural methods, such as herbs and acupuncture.

One might (logically) believe any alcohol consumption at all would increase the likelihood of most diseases, but various studies claim that consuming two or fewer alcoholic beverages a day carries no additional risk of endometrial cancer, and can actually improve overall health and memory, as well as reduce the chances of getting cardiovascular disease. Dr. Graham McDougall, associate professor of nursing at the University of Texas at Austin, and lead author of the study, "Older Women's Cognitive and Affective Response to Moderate Drinking," found that older women who drank moderately scored better on cognitive tests, such as remembering a story, route, or hidden object, future intentions, and connecting random numbers and letters. Other cognitive and psychological benefits were also observed.

"Moderate drinkers reported less depression, had higher self-reported health, performed better on instrumental everyday tasks, had stronger memory self-efficacy and improved memory performance," said McDougall. McDougall's study, part of a larger University of Texas project funded by the National Institutes of Health, shocked many. He claimed that moderate drinkers also scored higher on tests designed to measure attention, concentration, psychomotor skills, verbal-associative capacities, and oral fluency. "In addition to their actual performance on tests," said McDougall, "the confidence of those who drank was higher and they used more strategies to facilitate memory."

Dr. McDougall was careful, however, not to encourage alcohol consumption, and reminded the public that physical and psychological issues were actually aggravated by heavy drinking; i.e., more than two drinks per day. That would also seem to hold true for the risk of endometrial cancer, as well, with two drinks sitting right on the cusp of "risky." In other words, non-addicts might just be better off, psychologically, as well as physically, having a glass of wine at night, but one shouldn't get too excited. Heavy drinking is still, after all, heavy drinking.

Being aware of new research about risky lifestyle habits is an important part of maintaining your health.
