| body | Thank you so much for your kind words @culturious! I have to admit you are 100% right. The disadvantage of this trip is that I would not get the chance to get to see much more than the airport, the hotel, and the Grand Prix circuit. Under other circumstances, it could be a really great experience to learn about the culture and land. Thanks a lot! |

| body | I think it would be a great opportunity for you to go as visiting different countries may allow you to experience many new and wonderful things, It could also give you a new insight on there culture and deepen your understanding, you never know it might make you decide to visit again! And if your afraid of saying disrespectful things you shouldn't really stress about it because it will help you learn and avoid the mistakes next time! If you are curious about the culture of any country you can always hit me up and ask me to create an information article about it on my page. Thank you, and good day to you sir. |

| body |

Welcome! To the first article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about vending machines abut photography!

1.The Height of the Burj Khalifa Caused a Fasting Dilemma during Ramadan
With a height of 2,722 ft., the Burj Khalifa skyscraper is the tallest man-made structure in the world. The habitable half-mile tower is so tall that Muslims who live in the upper floors have to wait longer to break their fasting during Ramadan because they can see the sun for longer than those who are on the ground. Dubai’s clerics advised residents above the 80th floor to wait an extra two minutes and those above the 150th floor to wait an extra three minutes before they broke their fast during the holy month.
2. The City will be Home to an Underwater Hotel
The Hydropolis will be world’s first multi-room underwater hotel and also one of the most expensive hotels even built. The lower levels of the huge, jellyfish-shaped hotel will contain suites which are situated 20m under the Persian Gulf, and the Hydropolis will also be home to many luxury amenities such as a grand ballroom, cinema, bars and beauty spas. Sadly, like so many of Dubai’s most ambitious projects the hotel is currently under construction and it’s facing an uncertain future as it tries to find investment and funding so it can finally be completed.
3.The United Arab Emirates has Ridiculously Strict Drug Laws
The UAE has a zero tolerance policy on drugs. Serious drug trafficking charges are punishable by death and even residual traces of illegal narcotics can result in a lengthy spell in prison. In fact, the UAE even considers the presence of illegal drugs in a person’s blood stream as a count of possession. Unfortunately, some tourists in Dubai have found out the hard way just how seriously the country takes drug-related offences. A Swiss tourist received a 4 year sentence when police allegedly found poppy seeds on his clothing and a Briton received the same sentence when less than 0.003g of cannabis was found in the tread of his shoe at Dubai airport. In 2013, three British tourists were pardoned from their 4 year drug sentence in a Dubai prison after 3 months. The men alleged that they had been tortured, tasered and beaten throughout their sentencing process in Dubai.
4.It was Once Home to 25% of the World’s Cranes
During the city’s pre-2008 property boom, Dubai was dubbed the crane capital of the world. The skyline was peppered with huge towering cranes as construction projects ran riot throughout the city. The statistic – which amounted to around 30,000 of the world’s 125,000 cranes – was a startling indication to just how much construction and expansion was being carried out in the city before the financial crash. With the economy back on the rise and with more projects underway, cranes and other construction machinery are making their mark in Dubai yet again, but it is doubtful they will reach the same ubiquitous levels as they did in the past.
5.There are Gold Vending Machines
Nothing says ‘disposable income’ like buying gold from a vending machine. The ‘Gold to Go’ machines dispense gold items – bars, jewellery, customised coins – in exchange for market value prices (the machines have an Internet connection and their prices are updated every ten minutes). Some of the gold items come in attractive gift boxes and all are dispensed with a certificate and an anti-counterfeit hologram label. Although Dubai isn’t the only place in the world to house Gold to Go machines, these gold-leafed novelties feel right at home in the over-the-top indulgence of the city.
6.The Police Drive Around in Sports Cars
Dubai really likes to make an impression, even when it comes to outfitting its local police force. The city’s top of the range fleet of police cars includes McLarens, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bentleys and Ferraris. Painted in the city’s white and green colours, the cars make for a startling sight as they patrol some of Dubai’s many highways in pursuit of speeding lawbreakers. However, the vehicles act mainly as a deterrent for would-be speedsters and they are typically found patrolling tourist areas where officers issue tickets for parking and other lesser motoring offences.
7. Dubai produces 4.5 Olympic swimming pools of oil per day
If you don’t have a visual image of what 50,000 barrels of oil look like, I bet that you have seen an Olympic swimming pool at least once in your life. Now, multiply that with 4.5, and that is the amount of oil Dubai produces in a day.
8.Dubai is considered one of the safest city in the World
With a crime rate that is near 0%, Dubai is considered one of the safest city in the World due the fact that the law is very strict and people have a high morality.
9. The Dubai Mall has an indoor ski resort
The Dubai Mall has the largest indoor snow park in the Word, with an area of 3,000 square meters, and a ski resort that will make your trip to Austria look like a picnic.
10.The Palm Jumeirah is the World’s largest artificial island
The Palm Jumeirah is the World’s largest artificial island, and it can be seen from space. It is 5.4 km long and it also includes 28 hotels.
That’s it for today! I sure did not know all these great facts before! What about you?Want me to create another article about something else?Let me know down in the comments. And remember stay CULTURIOUS!
>"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs." >–Thomas Wolfe |

| body |

Welcome! To the first article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about vending machines abut photography!

1. Every two minutes we snap more pictures than the whole of humanity did in the 1800s.
It’s estimated only a few million pictures were taken in the 80 years before the first commercial camera was introduced. In 1999, the peak of the film-camera industry, Kodak reported that people took around 80 bn photos. Nowadays it is very hard to estimate how many photos are taken annually, but here are some statistics for 2015. According to Benedict Evans, People share 730 bn photos per year on Facebook, 255 bn – on WhatsApp and around 22 bn – on Instagram. And don’t even get us started on Snapchat, Apple’s iMessage, WeChat and other small messaging and photo-sharing apps. We can only estimate that around 3 trillion of photos will be taken this year. Or more!
2. Cheerleader effect: Individuals seem more attractive on group photos than on individual portraits.
Thinking about uploading a new photo on Facebook? Better pick one where you are around friends! According to the research of Drew Walker and Edward Vul at the University of California, individual faces appear more attractive when presented in a group than when presented alone. This phenomenon was called the “Cheerleader effect”
3. People started making funny cats photos in the 19th century.
Images and videos of cats create one of the most viewed content on the Internet – and let’s admit it, we are very happy about it. Interesting thing is, cats have been viral since the 1870s when the Brighton photographer Harry Pointer became famous for his funny cat pictures. Pointer began his career taking conventional photos of cats but soon realized that people enjoyed more pictures of cats in ridiculous poses, unusual settings or with a silly facial expression.
4. People never smiled on the old photos because they had to stay still for hours.
Over the years, many theories have popped up trying to explain why people never smiled in old photographs. The most popular ones were that people didn’t want to show their bad teeth or that people thought smiling made them look ridiculous. In fact, due to insanely long exposure times, making one shot took hours. Try to keep a smiling face for a couple of hours – not only your facial muscles will start killing you after a while – your smile will look more creepy than sincere.
5. The largest photo competition ever held received 353, 768 entries.
According to the Gunnies Book of World Records, the largest photography competition entrant is achieved by Vereniging Wikimedia Nederland from the Netherlands at the Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 competition. From the 1st of September to the 15th of October, exactly 353, 768 photos were submitted to the contest. Wiki Loves Monuments is an annual photo competition held by the Wikipedia community members. Participants submit pictures of different historical monuments and heritage sites. This is the winning photo was taken by Parnav Singh.
6. The most viewed photograph in history is the Windows XP’s default wallpaper called “Bliss”.
Bliss was taken in 1996 (years before Windows XP was launched) in Sonoma County, California by an American photographer Charles O’Rear. He snapped the picture on film with a medium-format camera. Although many claim that the photo was digitally manipulated, O’Rear claims it never was. Right now the landscape looks different – grapevines were planted on the hill so now Bliss is impossible to duplicate.
7. The chemicals used in the development of photographs where extremely dangerous
including mercury, silver nitrate, lye, and more. These chemicals were extremely dangerous and many photographers had to take time off from their work due to illness caused by exposure to the chemicals. Over time, prolonged contact with these chemicals and metals could lead to madness or even death. Photography before the digital age was serious, potentially life-threatening business!
8. And it wasn’t just the chemicals from the developing solution that were dangerous.
Early flash powder ingredients included Potassium chloride and aluminium which were mixed to create the flash for images. It was not uncommon for these to be mixed incorrectly and explode more violently than intended.
9. The first color photograph was taken in 1861 by James Maxwell, the British physicist.

10. The oldest camera was sold at the auction in Vienna in 2007
setting all-time overall record and having become the most expensive camera ever sold at auction. Rarity called “Daguerrotype Susses Freres” was sold for nearly eight hundred thousand U.S. dollars. The starting price was 100 000 euros.
That’s it for today! I sure did not know all these great facts before! What about you?Want me to create another article about something else?Let me know down in the comments. And remember stay CULTURIOUS!
>"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs." >–Thomas Wolfe |

| body |

Welcome! To the another article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about Singapore!

Most people around the world know of Singapore as the country that bans chewing gum, has a fantastic world-class airport, or has a reputation as a clean but ‘fine’ city. Whether you have already visited or are planning to make your first trip, here’s a list of things about Singapore that might surprise you.

1. It’s a city of not just one island, but 63
You might not know it but Singapore’s land area includes as many as 62 offshore islands that surround the main island. These include Sentosa (the largest of the 62 offshore islands), Pulau Ubin, St John’s Island and Sisters’ Islands. What that means for visitors: more fun in the sun!
2. It’s home to the world’s first night zoo
Singapore’s Night Safari provides a nocturnal experience like no other in the city; it’s also the world’s very first night zoo. Opened in 1994, the 35-hectare park features over 1,000 animals in their naturalistic nighttime. Hop onto the 40-minute tram ride for an overview of the park’s main attractions. Be sure to amble along the four interlinked walking trails within the park, for a zoo trip like no other.
3.It’s a city of (man-made) waterfalls
According to the Wildlife Reserves Singapore, the first man-made waterfall was built at Jurong Bird Park in 1971. Dropping from a height of 30 meters, it is said to be the tallest waterfall in an aviary to date. That’s not all. You’ll also find the world's tallest indoor waterfall (35 meters) in Singapore at the Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay. This huge waterfall is the centrepiece of the misty conservatory, designed to house plant life from the tropical highlands. In 2018, there will be an even taller indoor waterfall, to be built at Jewel at Changi Airport. This new retail and lifestyle complex will feature the Water Vortex, a man-made, 40-metre-tall waterfall that will be surrounded by a lush indoor garden.
4.The locals speak Singlish, not just English
Don’t be too surprised to hear Singaporeans adding to their sentences the occasional “lah” and “leh”, which have become an integral part of everyday conversation. These are just bits of what make the local Singlish vocabulary so unique. Singlish is a collection of colloquial catchphrases and lingo influenced by Singapore’s multiculturalism. Other examples include the Singlish term “chope”, which means to reserve a seat. Locals often chope seats at a hawker center using packets of tissue paper! Singaporeans also tend to refer to strangers such as cab drivers and hawker center stall owners as “Aunties” and “Uncles”. This is an endearing way of addressing older gentlemen and ladies. Do use the terms wisely, though, as it can connote the addressee’s elderly age; you would not want to offend a stranger by accident!
5.Singapore pioneered the first F1 night race
Held annually since 2008, Grand Prix Season Singapore features a gamut of concerts, racing and entertainment activities, for Formula One fans and visitors of all ages. 2018’s event marks the Grand Prix’s 10th edition in Singapore. The star event—the FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX—also made racing history as the world’s first ever FORMULA 1 night race. The twisty Marina Bay street circuit has largely remained unchanged in the years since; the track’s brightly lit floodlights also add to the spectacular night views of Singapore. According to Formula 1, the Marina Bay Street Circuit also boasts more corners (23 in all) than any other circuits on the Formula One race calendar.
6.This city of skyscrapers is also one that is filled with lush greenery.
Nearly half of Singapore’s land area (approximately 700 square kilometers) is under green cover. Beyond numerous parks and gardens, there are pockets of undiscovered plant life housed in the most unusual of places. For example, PARKROYAL on Pickering is known for its hotel-in-a-garden concept and its four-storey cascading vertical garden. That’s not all. There’s rich biodiversity in nature reserves, too––Singapore is home to over 2,100 native vascular plant species. The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in particular, is said to contain more tree species in a single hectare than the total number of tree species found in North America.

7. There are tonns of off-the-beaten track neighborhoods to explore
Besides the history-rich Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India cultural districts, there are more colourful enclaves for visitors to explore in Singapore. You’ll find rows of hip eateries and stores along the Art Deco-style buildings of Tiong Bahru, as well as colorful shop houses and traditional food stalls in Joo Chiat/Katong. More up-and-coming neighborhoods include Everton Park, which is home to coffee joints, cafés, ice cream parlors and other must-try foodie hotspots.
8.There are tonns of off-the-beaten track neighborhoods to explore
Besides the history-rich Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India cultural districts, there are more colourful enclaves for visitors to explore in Singapore. Singapore is the name of a ghost town on the shores of Lake Michigan near the town of Saugatuck – once a lumber town, it is now buried underneath sand dunes on private property, all that’s left is a commemorative plaque at the Town Hall and the name of the local Singapore Yacht Club. Singapore is also the name of a settlement in Limpopo, South Africa, though from maps and research it seems like a rural location with not much around it.
10.Singapore, the lightning capital
Singapore has some of the highest occurrences of lightning activity in the world. Located almost along the equator, the hot and humid climate in Singapore is perfect for thunderstorms. Singapore experiences 168 thunderstorm days in a year on average – that’s almost half the year. Always prepare for wet weather in Singapore. Thunderstorms usually happen in the afternoons and tend to be short-lived heavy downpours.
That’s it for today! | body |

Welcome! To the another article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about Programming!

1. The first computer programmer was a woman.
Despite currently being a male-dominated field, many people don’t know that history remembers the first computer programmer to be a woman. Ada Lovelace, a gifted mathematician and computer programmer from London, is credited with being the first person to develop what we now know as computer concepts. She is credited with numerous forward-thinking contributions to computer science.
2. A real live “computer bug” sparked popularity for the phrase.
Ever wonder where the term “computer bug” came from? Well actually, we can thank a moth for popularizing the phrase. The use of the word “bug” to refer to a problem, fault, or dysfunction has been around for a long time, but in 1943, programmer Grace Hopper was working on the Mark I Electromechanical Computing Machine when she discovered that a moth was stuck in a relay, hindering the performance of the machine.
The first “Computer Bug” was a moth.
Once the computing machine was debugged, operation returned to normal, as you can imagine. The literal appearance of a “bug” or fault was humorous to Hopper, and became the famous phrase we use today.
3. You don’t need programming experience to learn how to code.
Despite what some people may have told you, learning the trade doesn’t mean you need previous experience. There are plenty of coders that have excelled in the field, not because of their vast prior knowledge, but their willingness and passion to learn the material. The only things you really need in order to learn how to code are a computer, a positive attitude, and the will to work hard. Though coding might not be for everyone, don’t let your lack of experience steer you away from trying to learn.
4. There are 698 different coding languages.
Behind Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia, coding languages would come in third place in regards to a number of languages if it were a country. While this means there is a huge diversity of computer programming languages, we don’t suggest you try to learn them all. Each coding language has its different place and purpose, similar to that of spoken languages.
5. There are more than 20 Asian programming languages
Of the estimated 8,500 programming languages recorded, about a third use English for their keywords and code libraries, while plenty more are based on non-English languages, with some consisting entirely of symbols. This includes more than 20 Asian programming languages, eg. BAIK (Indonesian), Changjo (Korean), Dolittle (Japanese), PerlYuYan (Chinese) and the Hindi Programming Language.
6. Computer codes played a pivotal role in ending WWII
Thanks to Alan Turing, an English computer scientist, the end of WWII was expedited by using his mathematical and cryptologic skills to decipher ENIGMA, the Nazis’ code machine. Intel from Bletchley Park, where Turing and his team were based, helped to save countless lives. For his contribution to modern computing, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) named its Turing Award after him.
7.Most web pages are built using more than one programming language.
An email website, for example, is made with three programming languages, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
8.Coders that study and write malware are known as hackers.
Those who write malware to commit crimes are known as “black-hat” hackers, and those who write programs to protect against malware are called “white-hat hackers”.
9.Spacecraft often run using old-fashioned computer systems
because engineers are confident their programs do the job well and making a new one is risky and expensive. NASA’s reusable spacecraft, the Space Shuttle, went into space using a computer designed in the 1970s. It had less code than most of today’s mobile phones!
10.Computer games are so popular that the games industry is now worth more than the movie industry.

That’s it for today! I sure did not know all these great facts before! What about you? Which fact surprised you the most? Let me know down in the comments. And remember stay CULTURIOUSE!
>"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs." >–Thomas Wolfe |

"body": "

Welcome! To the another article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about Programming!

\n

\n
1. The first computer programmer was a woman.
\n\nDespite currently being a male-dominated field, many people don’t know that history remembers the first computer programmer to be a woman. Ada Lovelace, a gifted mathematician and computer programmer from London, is credited with being the first person to develop what we now know as computer concepts. She is credited with numerous forward-thinking contributions to computer science.\n\n
2. A real live “computer bug” sparked popularity for the phrase.
\n\nEver wonder where the term “computer bug” came from? Well actually, we can thank a moth for popularizing the phrase. The use of the word “bug” to refer to a problem, fault, or dysfunction has been around for a long time, but in 1943, programmer Grace Hopper was working on the Mark I Electromechanical Computing Machine when she discovered that a moth was stuck in a relay, hindering the performance of the machine.\n\n
The first “Computer Bug” was a moth.
\n\nOnce the computing machine was debugged, operation returned to normal, as you can imagine. The literal appearance of a “bug” or fault was humorous to Hopper, and became the famous phrase we use today.\n\n
3. You don’t need programming experience to learn how to code.
\n\nDespite what some people may have told you, learning the trade doesn’t mean you need previous experience. There are plenty of coders that have excelled in the field, not because of their vast prior knowledge, but their willingness and passion to learn the material. \nThe only things you really need in order to learn how to code are a computer, a positive attitude, and the will to work hard. Though coding might not be for everyone, don’t let your lack of experience steer you away from trying to learn. \n\n
4. There are 698 different coding languages.
\n \nBehind Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia, coding languages would come in third place in regards to a number of languages if it were a country. While this means there is a huge diversity of computer programming languages, we don’t suggest you try to learn them all. Each coding language has its different place and purpose, similar to that of spoken languages.\n\n
5. There are more than 20 Asian programming languages
\nOf the estimated 8,500 programming languages recorded, about a third use English for their keywords and code libraries, while plenty more are based on non-English languages, with some consisting entirely of symbols. This includes more than 20 Asian programming languages, eg. BAIK (Indonesian), Changjo (Korean), Dolittle (Japanese), PerlYuYan (Chinese) and the Hindi Programming Language.\n\n
6. Computer codes played a pivotal role in ending WWII
\nThanks to Alan Turing, an English computer scientist, the end of WWII was expedited by using his mathematical and cryptologic skills to decipher ENIGMA, the Nazis’ code machine. Intel from Bletchley Park, where Turing and his team were based, helped to save countless lives. For his contribution to modern computing, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) named its Turing Award after him.\n\n
7.Most web pages are built using more than one programming language.
\n An email website, for example, is made with three programming languages, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.\n\n
8.Coders that study and write malware are known as hackers.
\n Those who write malware to commit crimes are known as “black-hat” hackers, and those who write programs to protect against malware are called “white-hat hackers”.\n\n
9.Spacecraft often run using old-fashioned computer systems
\n\n because engineers are confident their programs do the job well and making a new one is risky and expensive. NASA’s reusable spacecraft, the Space Shuttle, went into space using a computer designed in the 1970s. It had less code than most of today’s mobile phones!\n\n
10.Computer games are so popular that the games industry is now worth more than the movie industry.
\n
\nThat’s it for today! I sure did not know all these great facts before! What about you? Which fact surprised you the most? Let me know down in the comments. And remember stay CULTURIOUSE!\n
\n\n>\"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs.\"\n>–Thomas Wolfe",

| body |

Welcome! To the another article of Culturious, today we are going to inform you about 10 Amazing things you didn’t know about the famous Japanese dish,Ramen!

It Most Likely Originated in China, Not Japan
It is widely believed that ramen noodles first made their way to Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1912). In fact, the word “ramen” is the Japanese pronunciation of a type of Chinese noodle, lamian. Before the 1950s, ramen in Japan was called simply “shina soba,” or “Chinese soba.”
Each Japanese Region Has a Signature Style
Some examples include Sapporo-style ramen (miso ramen with roast pork, bamboo shoots, and scallions), Tokyo ramen (a seafood-heavy broth with roast pork, fish cake, and spinach), Kyoto-style (pork and chicken-based broth with roast pork, bamboo, scallions, and nori).
They’re Designed to Have as Much Umami as Possible
If ramen really “hits the spot,” it’s because it’s absolutely packed with that savory, meaty “fifth taste” called umami. Umami-rich kelp is an essential part of the stock, which can also be packed with umami bombs like soy sauce, dried tuna flakes, dried baby sardines, and mushrooms.
A Secret Ingredient Makes the Noodles Extra-Firm
Ever wonder why the noodles in ramen don’t turn to mush, like the noodles in chicken noodle soup do? It’s because they contain what’s called kansui, an alkaline mineral water usually containing sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, and phosphoric acid. This makes them slightly yellow, gives them a firm and chewy texture, and prevents them from absorbing too much stock and turning to mush.
World War II Revolutionized the Ramen World
Ramen didn’t really catch on throughout Japan until after World War II, when a couple things happened: One, the Japanese market was flooded with cheap flour from the United States, making noodles much easier to come by; and two, Japanese troops developed a taste for noodles while in China and set up Chinese restaurants and noodle shops back in Japan. The Japanese quickly seized on the ramen movement and made it their own.
There’s a Ramen Museum in Yokohama
The food-themed amusement park, which opened in 1994, includes a massive recreation of Tokyo circa 1958 (the year instant noodles were invented), and is full of ramen stands representing the country’s most famous ramen shops. There’s also an old-style bar, snack shops, and a souvenir shop.
There Are Ramen Vending Machines in Tokyo
Linking back to our previous post.In the Akihabara district of Tokyo, a popular ramen restaurant has set up vending machines that dispense warm ramen in a can (caked ramen kan). Available in several flavours including tonkotsu and curry, each can includes soup, noodles, bamboo, and pork, and comes with a small plastic fork.
Slurping ramen is not a rude notion in Japan.
In fact, it’s expected. To eat ramen quickly without burning yourself, slurp the noodles to cool them down before swallowing.
Ramen noodles where the first ever kind of noodles to be consumed in space!

That’s it for today! I sure did not know all these great facts before! What about you?Want me to create another article about something else?Let me know down in the comments. And remember stay CULTURIOUS! >"Culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs." >–Thomas Wolfe |
