bodyI agree that BTS is probably a good hedge for a big market crash and/or crash in tether ..... However, since your last post for example, you surely noticed that Bitshares has still continued to drop rather heavily ..... it seems the traders look at Bitshares and see a rather dead project whose lead has long moved on to other things, most markedly his current project (EOS) that will supposedly do everything Bitshares can do and more better, and thus value EOS way higher already (despite it not being actually working yet). Similarly they maybe don't see Bitshares' stablecoins gaining any significant traction despite being around for such a long time already, and so look forward to the myriad new stablecoins (e.g. DAI) coming out now as better bets ... And similarly Bitshares' DEX, once somewhat unique and ahead of the ball, has now been around a long time without gaining much market share (and without more volume such DEXes [besides Bancor] don't really work very well), and is now facing a host of new + upcoming DEX competitors with more noise around them (and some of which have overtaken it already in volume). Going forward, it's hard to see what will change this, or what could actually reverse the trend and prove the market wrong - Bitshares hasn't been growing in usage either for quite some time (it's a long way off its peaks, significantly moreso even than other blockchains), so maybe the market is right that it's better to bet on other future things - what Dan is working on now and other Stablecoins + DEXes etc - and that maybe they are what'll be bigger going forward? I do agree that BTS appears very cheap .... however it also appears to have many markings of a classic 'value trap', so I would be cautious with allocating too large a portion of my portfolio into it ....

bodyI agree that BTS is probably a good hedge for a big market crash and/or crash in tether ..... And similarly Bitshares' DEX, once somewhat unique and ahead of the ball, has now been around a long time without gaining much market share, and is now facing a host of new + upcoming DEX competitors with more noise around them (and some of which have overtaken it already in volume). Going forward, it's hard to see what will change this, or what could actually reverse the trend and prove the market wrong - Bitshares hasn't been growing in usage either for quite some time (a long way off its peaks), so maybe the market is right that it's better to bet on other future things - what Dan is working on now and other Stablecoins + DEXes - and that maybe they are what'll be bigger going forward? I do agree that BTS appears very cheap .... however it also appears to have many markings of a classic 'value trap', so I would be cautious with allocating too large a portion of my portfolio into it ....

bodyTo me there's a problem with whoever (community/foundation/whoever) is 'running' bitshares having extremely little voice+presence ... So when Stan Larimar is going around claiming to be the 'godfather' of Bitshares and to be doing 'partnerships' with Bitshares and the various scams has been pushing, there's literally no voice standing-up and saying "he absolutely doesn't represent Bitshares whatsoever". And this is hurting Bitshares a lot imo - most people just associate Bitshares with Stan Larimar and his various scams, and write it off. Secondly, when Bitshares was dropped from Bittrex, with the claim that it was using too much memory - it's been very hard to find any talk about working on sorting out the issue, or clarifying if this really is the issue etc .... i.e. is there an issue with memory usage in Bitshares? Is this something you need a developer with relevant experience to work on and you're prepared to pay for this? And this of course relates to the point in the article - the community really shot itself in the foot by not sufficiently funding development (as I understand, this helped push Dan Larimar to rather develop EOS, as he wasn't getting paid for his efforts to continue developing Bitshares, which is total insanity if true). I get the impression there are issues with nodes and memory and nodes being down and thus the DEX not working or being slow at times, and this has also no doubt not helped things ... but again, very hard to find evidence of anyone really tracking+dealing-with these things ..... and yeah ..... it's definitely death for a cryptocoin if no one is dealing with such things ...

bodyAssuming @Stan really is truly well-intentioned in what he's doing, he desperately needs to either learn to recognise such scams as scams himself, or find some advisor to do that for him, before he effectively promotes them. And also to realise that the enemy here is not the government, but his own credulity (and the scammers who fooled him, and if you can believe their own claim, fooled investors out of $600 million, in no small part thanks to his help in promoting them). AriseBank was never ever going to deliver - their website + press releases were full of false claims everywhere you looked - and if they truly fooled him into being a true believer, he needs to either learn to not be so easily fooled, or else it's maybe a good thing for him to step away from the space (though it looks like that's not what he's doing).

bodyI was referring more to the functionality of the projects and their actual usage rather than their market caps, which I agree, are lower than they should be. On the point about Dan jumping ship, I think EOS is a more ambitious project as it's aiming to be a platform that many other projects can run on top of it. If you were in his position and thought you could make a project on the scale that EOS is aiming for you would do it right? Why stick with STEEM when you can make a platform that could have thousands of STEEM-like projects running on it and make an absolute fortune doing so.

If you were in his position and thought you could make a project on the scale that EOS is aiming for you would do it right? bodyYeah, we will see ... my point was just, if you're saying "look at the success of Bitshares and Steem" as a predictor of success here, then it's worth noting that if you're looking at Bitshares and Steem in terms of _marketcap_ success, then actually, it's not so clear that they are successful enough to warrant anything near EOS's current marketcap .... (and actually, because I think these two projects are more successful than their marketcap indicates, I hold both). My other general question/concern is - what is the reason for creating EOS, rather than just improving say Bitshares with the new technology? i.e. what does this tendency for Dan to (by the looks of it) always jump to a new project say about the prospects long-term of these projects? Is this perhaps why the marketcap for Bitshares is strangely low, given how promising it seems? I'm raising this more out of curiosity than necessarily as a criticism ....

bodyCan you give some examples of when the SEC has abused its power? Afaik, the general consensus is that the SEC has historically been way too toothless in its power to fight corruption in the markets. For example, in taking on the big hedge-funds+banks etc, the picture I've generally read is that it's been pitting rather average-IQ government wage employees against far smarter + higher-paid evil geniuses (if you're high IQ in the finance/legal world - where do you choose to work - for SEC or for private sector with 10x+ wages), and generally only ever succeeding in obtaining token wrist-slaps, penalizing the companies for a fraction of their corrupt gains and almost never succeeding in any jail time for the people at fault.

bodyI was happy though @Stan, to see you actually reply to one of my comments - at least that shows that you do read them, so they're getting through to some extent at least :). I would further love to see you more thoroughly address all the red flags around this AriseBank ICO, all the clearly shown to be lies that the CEO made in promoting AriseBank as being much more of a real thing than it ever was, his dodgy history which anyone can google, and the size of your role in giving it credence through your associating your + Bitshares' names with an otherwise obscure dodgy-looking ICO, and thus leading many more investors to be potentially scammed, if in fact I'm right about it being a pure scam (which all the evidence is pointing to, imho). If you could further elaborate on what kind of responsibility you see yourself having as a (at least self-declared) figurehead in this cryptospace, to uphold certain levels of ethics and due-diligence in promoting things, that would be very welcome too. And the potential negative effects on the whole crpyto-space you see your actions as causing, if in fact this ICO that you've played such a large role in pushing and now turning into a cause, is in fact a total scam. Such as highlighting and speedening the need for the very kinds of government regulation that you now seem to be opposing. If the crypto-space, and figureheads within it such as yourself, can't self-regulate enough to even weed out such clear scams, then what do you really expect or think is best for the government to do? Personally, I'd expect+hope to see them coming-in to regulate.
