This year brought extreme market volatility, an increase in regulatory oversight, and we witnessed the rise and fall of many promising projects.\n\nFor Covesting, 2018 was indeed a year of realizing of our ultimate vision of becoming the most advanced, compliant cryptocurrency trading platform across the globe. Throughout the year, we focused our efforts entirely on development, ensuring the roadmap was followed and products we committed to deliver were completed.\n\n# Looking Back at 2018\n\n## Licensing\nCovesting became among the first cryptocurrency exchanges to ever receive the highly sought-after DLT license from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission! Not only does the license provide Covesting customers with additional peace of mind, knowing the platform is fully compliant and has the stricter security measures, but it also allows Covesting to offer a fully legal compliant fiat gateway. Receiving the license immediately and permanently bolstered our reputation across the industry.\n\n## Product Deliveries\n\nAs we focused 100% on development throughout 2018, we were able to deliver a number of key products vital to the Covesting user experience. In 2018 we launched the following products:\n\n* Exchange: Users are able to easily create market, limit, and quick trade orders simply using our easy to understand user interface.\n* Performance Calculations: In each user dashboard, it is possible to track overall portfolio performance and view ROI.\n* Referral Program: We rolled out our referral program; encouraging our users to spread the positive word about Covesting. Users are able to earn up to 40% of all fees paid from the new users they have referred. Sign up to the referral program here.\n* iOS App: Covesting also launched a new iOS app for iPhone devices; allowing our customers access to the most advanced trading platform right from their fingertips from anywhere in the world! Download the app here.\n\n## New Initiatives\n\nIn addition to the product deliveries above, Covesting also worked on the following new initiatives throughout 2018.\n\n* Token Listing: We have worked hard to establish infrastructure for listing additional tokens. Read more about this in a special chapter below.\n\n* Corporate Onboarding: Corporate clients require additional care and setup. We provide the precise support required. We have created the necessary procedures for onboarding and agreed with the GFSC.\n\n* Infrastructure: A platform is only as good as its infrastructure, and Covesting has spent considerable time and investment in ensuring our platform runs smoothly. We have spent a lot of time on testing, including with the involvement of the community in the framework of the competitions.\n\n*IT Security: Keeping our customer’s assets and private information safe and secure is our most chief concern. We are constantly testing and improving our security.\n\n## 2019: Product Priorities\nFrom a development perspective, it’s important to have solid products and sound, secure infrastructure. From a business perspective, having a unique offering and appeal is necessary. We have taken the two perspectives to move Covesting from a simple API-based copy-trading platform to become a full-scale cryptocurrency service and platform, and only aim to expand from here. We firmly believe that the key to staying in demand is by becoming a one-stop shop for all cryptocurrency-related needs.\n\nTherefore, the top priorities for product development during the first half of 2019 are:\n\n* Fiat Gateway: We have already successfully completed the first phase of implementing a fully-compliant fiat gateway and currently it is already under internal testing. Soon we will be introducing additional deposit and withdrawal options, including credit and debit cards, as well as Skrill, Netteller, and more.\n* Liquidity Optimization and Market Making: Extensive testing proves our liquidity aggregator is functioning perfectly. Covesting offers unrivaled liquidity across the digital assets we offer. However, since we are planning to begin listing tokens that aren’t commonly found on other top exchanges, we need internal market making algorithms to increase liquidity for internally matched digital assets. The algorithms we are developing will create a dynamic and attractive environment for trading internal pairs.\n* Copy-trading: In 2019, we will roll out our core feature: copy-trading. Copy-trading requires thoroughly tested execution as well as a solid amount of trading pairs to work properly, hence our focus on the market making of internal pairs first. Once we have implemented safeguards to prevent abusive trading, risk of slippage, remove performance calculation discrepancies, and bolster market making, copy-trading will be made available.\n* Additional Trading Features and Tools: We are also working on some additional trading features and tools we are excited to share with you in the coming months.\n\n## 2019: Business Growth Priorities\nWhilst it’s of utmost importance to keep rolling out new products for our customers and to continue to create the most cutting edge exchange in the world, much work is still needed to grow our business footprint.\n\nThroughout 2019, we’ll be focusing on the following business objectives:\n\n* Token Listing: We will begin adding new tokens for trading in the future. We will grant COV token holders with airdrops of tokens listed on Covesting exchange.\n* CoinMarketCap Listing Covesting as an Exchange: We are working hard to get Covesting listed on CoinMarketCap’s list of exchanges. The process of listing is not transparent and takes time, so please be patient and do not try to approach the CoinMarketCap team on behalf of Covesting.\n* Institutional Onboarding and Partnerships: Catering to our institutional client’s unique needs and expanding our reach through important key partnerships is a big focus this year.\n* Marketing: This is subject to market conditions, overall demand, and conversion rates, however, we will be increasing our marketing presence on many fronts to help spread the word about Covesting.\n\nCompetition is higher, and market conditions are more challenging than ever. Many exchanges are struggling financially due to decreasing market demand, and continued price decline in the cryptocurrency space. Some exchanges have even been forced to lay off staff and are at risk of closing their doors for good whilst tapping into cash reserves to stay afloat.\n\nCovesting CEO Dmitrij Pruglo shared the following statement to close out Covesting’s stellar year of development and product deliveries:\n\n*2018 proved that the crypto market is extremely volatile and unpredictable. The idea of having a passive income or making extra profits with trading was exactly what I was looking for. It’s really a win-win situation for both traders and followers.*\n\nHe is purposeful and smart, pleasant to talk to and eloquently articulates his thoughts. He developed his own trading bot, and he is not afraid to talk about his failures and fears. And he also happens to be the winner of the Covesting Trading Competition! The Covesting team is proud to have traders like him as part of our family.\n\nWouter, tell us, how did you become a cryptocurrency trader? Are you a professional?\nI was always inspired by the idea of passive income and automated trading bots in the stock market. But I soon realised that it would be very difficult to build a profitable system for the stock market. And so I started to learn trading in the cryptocurrency world with the ultimate goal of building a profitable strategy for my open source trading bot. Sorry for the shameless advertising. I learned the game the hard way. Buying at the top and selling at the bottom. But my performance gradually improved after reading some books about technical analysis and algorithmic trading systems. So I am still learning in this market and I certainly don’t consider myself a professional.\n\nHow did you find out about Covesting? How did you decide to take part in our competition?\nI discovered Covesting by scrolling through a list of ICOs. Once I read a part of the whitepaper I was immediately hooked. The idea of having a passive income or making extra profits with trading was exactly what I was looking for. It’s really a win-win situation for both traders and followers. When I heard about the trading contest I decided to give it a try, I wasn’t expecting to win the contest.\n\nWhat was your trading strategy within the TC?\nI knew I had to play high risk to get a chance of winning the game. In the beginning, I was a bit careful and in hindsight, it was maybe the best thing I had done during the contest. BTC dropped and most of the traders had negative values. I saw my opportunity to go all in and improve my position on the list of traders. From then on I played with a higher risk because I saw an opportunity to end in the top 10.\n\nWhat is your trading style; do you prefer intraday, swing, or pattern trading?\nI’d prefer to look for all kinds of market opportunities. It doesn’t really matter when or how these opportunities occur for me. During the contest, I was mostly looking for triangle breakouts because those tend to be the most reliable for me. On the other hand, I also had some luck with timing a price bounce after a steep drop.\n\nDo you use indicators while trading or trade based on the chart?\nI’d prefer to use indicators. During the competition, I mostly used a basic setup with the MACD indicator in combination with RSI and triangle patterns. If you only use the price chart itself, it can be misleading from time to time. And you’re missing so much useful information that could help you in finding that edge.\n\nWhat is your main trading instrument and how do you pick the coins for trading?\nThis is part of finding the right market opportunities. I looked through all the USD pegged charts on Covesting on a daily basis. And if I can find a visually appealing chart then I start to draw some triangles and look at the indicators. If the outcome is interesting enough I’ll wait for more confirmation and probably take a position if the price is doing what I want it to do. And of course, never forget about the news and the interest in certain coins. I knew there was something going on with ZRX and XRP lately.\n\nIn the end of the competition, the significant part of your trading assets consisted of COV. Why did you decide to buy this asset? Was it some instant desire or a deliberate decision?\nThe moment when I heard about the [DLT license](https://medium.com/covesting/this-is-it-covesting-has-officially-received-their-dlt-providers-license-2dec58fded61) I almost immediately bought COV. Because I knew that the price would explode once the news got spread even further. And as we approached the end of the competition I wanted to secure my first place. So selling everything into USD would have been stupid because if COV would have exploded once again it would have cost me my first place.\n\nWhat do you find most complicating in trading? How do you deal with emotions?\nEmotions are probably the most difficult thing to deal with for me. My stress level tends to increase/decrease together with my profits or losses, especially during this contest. I try to control my emotions by distancing myself from the trades that I make. But from time to time I still have my FOMO moments.\n\nWhat is your edge and how did you discover it?\nI strongly believe in the following expression: «Make more profits by caring less about how much profit you make». I guess that this is something that you can only learn, discover or understand by learning it the hard way.\n\nWhat can you recommend to novice traders who are just learning about the markets?\nLearn, read and study as much as you can. And try to distance yourself from the profits or losses that you’re making. It will be easier to control your stress and emotions.\n\nAre you planning to use the Covesting platform actively as a trader after full launch?\nYes! The life of a trader is like a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment you’re super bullish and 5 minutes later you might be turning bearish. But it’s so addictive! And it becomes much more fun when you have an awesome platform like Covesting!",
