The oldest complete stone building monument known in history! Yes, no less than that. As l mentioned in my last post, when buying the tickets, take also the one that allows you to take pictures or images inside the museum, because otherwise you will not be able to carry your cameras with you.\nl know it is a very personal issue, but before visiting the Museum l would strongly recommend you to get previous information of what you are going to visit, just in order to appreciate them better.\nThe visit to a museum depends on your interests on the subject, be sure that you could easily spend days visiting this one, if you were very fond of this subject.\nTo give an idea, a normal visit could be of about two hours.\nIt then comes the question: What to see there? And l advise you to have a general idea of the Museum, paying special attention to three subjects. The first one is related to the chamber of the royal mummies, inside which you will not be allowed to take any pictures. The second one is related with Pharaoh Akhenaten and his legendary wife Nefertiti. The first one deals with the aspect of being comfortable in Egypt, because you are going to visit plenty of places and my advice is to wear appropriate shoes. Of course, it is very subjective what can be considered a good shoe, because it is different to go visiting Egypt by the winter than in springtime, for example; it is not the same if you are a man or a woman, but in general, take with you open footwear, because your feet will appreciate it.\nAbout clothing, bring with you soft dresses, I recommend you, especially the cotton and the linen ones, that cover your shoulders and your knees.\nThe second topic l would like to treat is much tighter, because it deals with the decency of your clothing when you are visiting in general a foreign country and in particular, a Muslim one. Take into account that although in Egypt, they are several religion's followers, the Muslims ones are the large majority, and even considering that people there in general is used to see tourists by the millions every year, l would advise you to dress modestly, and if you are a woman, to cover a little beat your hair. Let's put an example, imagine you are visiting a site, and you have to go through the bathroom, will all probability you are going to find there a person, generally a woman, that makes his income keeping the premises in a reasonable degree of cleaning, and let's imagine you need, for example, toilet paper, in case that person gives you some, take for granted that he or she will expect to receive something from you, a normal tip for this case would be one or two Egyptian Lira, that represent about 0,1 euros or some zero point 1 USD.\nIf, for example, you go into a restaurant, and you think the people working there deserve a tip, give in accordance to the circumstances.\nAnother aspect to this question is when at the end of your vacation you want to give something to your travel guides or drivers. Maybe one could think that with credit cards and your hard currency, it would be more than enough for traveling in the Country, but from the very beginning, I would strongly recommend you to buy some local currency when arriving at the airport; that will make possible to pay for the tourist's visa, just in case you do not have it yet, as l wrote on my previous post, and will allow you to make petty payments far more easy\nAbout how much money to change, of course, it depends; in any case change money in banks or get it at ITM. So bear in mind that you will have to undergo through many levels of controls in which even your shoes will be checked out.\nUpon that, when entering in Egypt be aware that at some point you will have to deal with an in migration authority who could stop your entrance even if all your documentation is correct and all your travel journeys are set up. Best advice in this field, be respectful, and in the end understand that all the controls are in place to secure your staying.\nOf course, there is always the possibility of a terrorist attack, as from time to time it appears on the news. For the time being, they do not use to happen very often, but unfortunately, that possibility exists. This is one reason more to hire the services of a travel agency.\nAbout the documentation, you need to visit Egypt, normally with your passe port, it will be enough. Then you will have to get a tourist visa, that is not very complicated. You have two choices; the first one is to get it before traveling at the Egyptian embassy or consulates in your Country of residence. The second one, is when arriving to Egypt, which is not complicated, because you will have to fill in a form on the plane, and when arriving and passing the controls at the airports, you will have to pay for it in local currency; it is not very expensive, when writing this it costs about 35 € or about 40 USD per person. If you are going to hire a taxi, first negotiate the price.\nThe reason why a do recommend you a travel agency it is because they are very efficient in general, fairly used to help tourist and what it is paramount for visiting sites, they will take you there; they will give you valuable information about places, and they will deliver you in safety to your hotel. Because bear in mind that in Egypt, you cannot expect a public transport means to visit all the historical places.\nSo, when arriving and beginning your journey, best hire in advance the services of a travel agency or at least a transfer provided by your hotel.
