      "body": "<html>\n<p>In the UK, credit scores are mostly used to determine whether people can get a credit card or loan. But in China, the government is developing a much broader “social credit” system partly based on people’s routine behaviours with the <a href=\"http://www.gov.cn/zhengce/content/2014-06/27/content_8913.htm\">ultimate goal</a> of determining the “trustworthiness” of the country’s 1.4 billion citizens.It might sound like a futuristic dystopian nightmare but the system is already a reality. Social credit is preventing people from buying airline and train tickets, stopping social gatherings from happening, and blocking people from going on certain dating websites. Meanwhile, those viewed kindly are rewarded with discounted energy bills and similar perks.</p>\n<p><a href=\"http://www.wired.co.uk/article/chinese-government-social-credit-score-privacy-invasion\">China's social credit system</a> was launched in 2014 and is supposed to be nationwide by 2020. As well as tracking and rating individuals, it also encompasses businesses and government officials. When it is complete, every Chinese citizen will have a searchable file of amalgamated data from public and private sources tracking their social credit. Currently, the system is still under development and authorities are trying to centralise local databases.Given the Chinese government's authoritarian nature, some portray the system as a single, all-knowing Orwellian surveillance machine that will ensure every single citizen’s strict loyalty to the Communist Party. But for now, that's not quite the case. Rogier Creemers, a researcher in the law and governance of China at Leiden University, has <a href=\"https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3175792\">described</a> the social credit setup as an \"ecosystem\" of fragmented initiatives. The main goal, he says, is not stifling dissent – something the Chinese state already has many tools for at its disposal – but better managing social order while leaving the Party firmly in charge.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Yet social credit isn't limited to the government and for the most part it has been operated by private firms. Ant Financial, the finance arm of e-commerce giant Alibaba, launched a product called Sesame Credit in 2015. It was China’s first effective credit scoring system but was also much broader, functioning as a social credit scheme and loyalty programme as well.Along with providing preferential loans, a high Sesame Credit score – which ranges from 350 to 950 – can result in a <a href=\"https://www.wired.com/story/age-of-social-credit/\">huge variety</a>of benefits, like no-deposit apartment and bicycle rentals. While the system is undoubtedly popular, the line between private social credit schemes and the government is being increasingly blurred. China’s supreme court, for example, <a href=\"http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-10/03/c_136657135.htm\">shares</a> a “blacklist” of people who haven’t paid court fines with Sesame Credit, which in turn deducts users’ scores until they sort out they pay up.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\nAs both the private and public components of social credit expand in China, there’s legitimate concern the system will end up <a href=\"https://www.merics.org/sites/default/files/2017-09/China%20Monitor_39_SOCS_EN.pdf\">creating</a> an “IT-backed authoritarianism” unlike any other. One independent journalist has already been <a href=\"https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/chinese-blacklist-an-early-glimpse-of-sweeping-new-social-credit-control/article37493300/\">barred</a> from buying plane tickets because of court fees related to his work, for example.But, for now, it remains grimly captivating to see the benefits and rewards created by such an ambitious and potentially dystopian project. So Katrine sometimes was staying alone at home all night long...\n\nAnd the new day has come. That was late winter morning. The sky was cold blue and the motionless air was carried by the winter wind from one place to another. That was terrifying, but such lovely... Michael stood up, dressed up and had his breakfast. Then he came to Katrine and they kissed each other. After that, Michael opened the door and went to work. He was on duty that night so Katrine was a bit depressed because of that fact.\n\nEvening has come. There was heavily snowing outside... The cold had taken monopoly upon everything – living or dead. It was ruling everything and everyone and nothing and no one could stand against that cruel tyrant.\n\nKatrine was alone at home, watching TV which was full of trash, collected by content makers and journalists, who were making such low-quality shows and the other trending things just because they had not any other choice in their life... katrine was holding the controller and was moving from one trash to other without any pleasure. She was tired and bored with everything... And really, her life was such boring indeed...\n\nSuddenly Katrine heard knocking on the door. Katrine moved her legs slowly because he was tired of everything and stood on the floor. The police announced 3 suspected person of the brutal murder of katrine. They were John Jefferson, Bob Smith and Aaron Dark. They were arrested but after a week police were due to free them because no proofs were found. That day was the last when the residents heard suspicious sounds from the cemetery.\n\nAn awful news shocked the whole city. In the middle of the city centre, had been found the corpse of John Jefferson. His head was chopped by the axe and his skull was smashed into pieces. The corpse had an epigraph on the stomach, made by a knife: \"This is just beginning\"...\n\nThe spring had come to an end. The summer was coming on and everything was getting brighter and hotter. Seemed like everything was happy. Even the molecules of the air were playing to each other and were flying in the endless space, full of sunbeams and pleasant scent of the flowers. And who could imagine that this day could be such brutal? Someone found a hanging man's corpse in the west part of the town. That was Bob Smith. His face was skinned and blood was pouring on his body. Police found another epigraph on the back of the head, saying: \"I feel better now, half of the work is done\".\n\nThe autumn has come. Everyone forgot everything about this case because the mankind knows how to ignore important things and lie that everything is fine, but nothing is fine and no one as well. they ignored the murder of katrine, they said that it was disgusting, shameful, shocking, scary, etc... But did nothing except burying the already-dead body in the cruel and dark ground. That was the reason why they found the gutted corpse of Aaron Dark. He had his ears cut and had an epigraph on his chest: \"one more step and done\"... That was clear that Michael did all of those things and one part of residents even said that they deserved this way of the death. but another part said that Michael didn't have the right to do this, even if he was right. But all of them had a question, they could not understand why Michael wrote that one more step was needed as all the suspected persons were already murdered. Some of them thought that Michael was going to kill them all because maybe he would think that Katrine's death was their fault too and they even became nervous a bit because someone could change their unpleasant and useless life.\n\nMichael has got his revenge indeed. He killed every animal-like creature but he wasn't in peace even after that. That was already December, cold and sadness had returned in the air and started desolating everything on their way once more. The gravedigger found the frozen corpse, lying on the grave of Katrine. Yeah, you are right, that was Michael. he was lying on the soft snow and there was red coloured lines and drops around him, made by his cursed blood, cursed by loneliness and hate, hate of every inch of the universe. The letter was found in his pocket:\n\n\"I really loved you, Katrine. But they take you from me I don't know where... I did what I had to do at all. That was intended. I do not regret my decision but after all that, I can't feel any better. I knew I would die and now I die here with you. What was my life? Just nothingness, just disappointment, just pain... I don't wanna live anymore in this f****ing world\".\n\nMichael was buried too. He was cold, he couldn't feel anything and he even was, somehow, happy about that. No one cried at his funeral, because he was lonely...\n\nThat night there came a little bird to Michael's grave. He settled under the cross, standing on the top of the grave. Maybe that bird was the only creature who could understand Michael's sorrow and feelings as it was dead inside too, maybe humans killed its little children and ate, or maybe an \"innocent\" little boy threw stones and destroyed its nest...",
