      "body": "Blockchain challenges the global banking system, provides a platform for applications that are completely decentralised, contracts that don’t require any third-party to establish trust, and much more.\n\nIndia is a big nation and has some quite unique problems that can be solved by blockchain technology. I cover some of them in this post.\n\n1. Paper Leaks\nIn last few years, leaking of papers for competitive exams has become a very serious issue. There are many intermediate parties that are easily corruptible and give access to papers for a hefty sum of money.\n\n\nHow can blockchain help?\n\nWith help of platforms like Ethereum, we can create smart contracts that run a specific code at a particular time. We can develop contracts that keep papers locked (or encrypted) till the time of start of the exam and unlock them only after that. Now, no one can access the papers before exam starts, no matter what. Since more and more exams are now being conducted online, this is easily achievable.\n\n2. UIDAI and Security of Citizen’s Data\n\nAadhar is a unique number given to residents of India, just like Social Security Number. A lot of personal and sensitive data is collected in Aadhar Scheme and is managed by a central authority UIDAI. This raises many issues:\n\n1. It gives hackers a single point of attack to steal sensitive data.\n2. Responsibility to protect data is with single authority — UIDAI.\n3. UIDAI gets a lot of power managing such large and sensitive data.\n\nRecently there have been reports of hacking of thousands of Aadhar cards.\n\nHow can blockchain help?\n\nIf the indian government is genuinely concerned about citizen’s data, they can encrypt it using citizen’s own biometrics and decentralise the database. It sounds scary at first, but encryption is a proven technology and decentralization removes any possibilities of loopholes or backdoors.\n\nWe can have smart contracts the reveal citizen’s sensitive information only by citizen’s consent. In addition to this, we can also generate temporary unique identification numbers and keep original identification number encrypted. Government can also enable querying of database without revealing identity of person. This can help then track transfer of benefits, tax evasion, etc.\n\n3. What basically this guy did was that he obtained fraudulent Letters of Understanding from Punjab National Bank and was able to avail buyer’s credit in overseas branches of Indian banks. And, how did this all happen? Because, authority of issuing LoUs was in hands of some junior level branch official.\n\n\n\nHow can blockchain help?\nThis is what happens when you put trust into humans. Humans are inherently corruptible. This is why, blockchain is very important, because it does not require any middle party to establish trust. We can use smart contracts to issue LoUs. This will have many advantages:\n\n1. It will not require trust to be established on a single or a handful of persons.\n\n2. Decentralisation, even on a private blockchain, will ensure concerned authorities like RBI, finance ministry  are kept in loop about LoUs and they can take actions on time.\n\n\nConclusion\n\nBlockchain technology is still in its early phases. It can solve some of the biggest problems that are faced by our country. What is required is focus on this technology and finding out problems that can be solved by it. World progresses very fast and some technologies change course of human development. We need to realize that blockchain can be one of them.",

      "body": "Hi\nI'm Chirag Maliwal, I'm 21 and I'm taking part in web 3.0 revolution as a developer. ;)\n\nBefore\n\nI was normal software developer in an IT company. When my project end, I got great opportunity. \n\nChoice between continuing python dev career or reskilling into ethereum blockchain. Before this moment, I was talking with some 'blockchain guys' and reading some articles from various sources. \n\nI could write about reasons of my choice, but it's obvious.\n\nStart\n\nI started full time reskilling my blockchain knowledge and watched some vedios and read some articles.\nIt gave me some overview how blockchain works. Why it's immutable etc.\n\nAfair, next step was some Ethereum development part. I purchased two books from packtpub\n1. Ethereum smart contract development\n2. Building blockchain project\nI completed (or maybe almost completed :P), it was cool.\n\nDuring\n\nlater, my mentor has send me article about Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It was first article in serie 'Diving Into The Ethereum VM' (ofc link : https://blog.qtum.org/diving-into-the-ethereum-vm-6e8d5d2f3c30).\n\nAfter\n\n3-4 weeks(?) full time + still learning in spare time I was able to:\n\nWrite some Ethereum smart contracts in Solidity\nTest contracts \nDevelop basic dapps (app ==> dapp - decentralized application) using truffle \nRun own Ethereum node connected to network, running private blockchain, mining.\nDeploy contracts on test/main net\nCreate own ERC20 token (ERC20 is the most popular token interface, token type), even with some ICO.\n\nGenerally frontend of distributed application is build with the same stack as 'normal' app. The Difference is backend connection. Instead of making e.g. REST requests to some servers, it connect with blockchain node. Connection is provided by web3 provider which connects with local running node (localhost:port) or totally external public node (www.some-node.com). Truffle framework makes interaction with smart contract easier. Truffle also can be used in testing. For me, the best way to test smart contracts is to write tests in JavaScript (even better, TypeScript) and interact with contracts by Truffle framework.\n\n\nPrerequisites\n\nI'm programmer for a 1.5 years. Before I started learning blockchain, I already have some stuff done.\n\nWeb application programming.\nChrome extension development\nBasics frontend skills, basics JS es6+, TS, node.js environment.\n\nCurrently\nWhen I hang out with my friends, even non-technical, I'm trying to educate them. Ofc I'm also trying to not be a nerd or something like this, but my friends should know that bitcoin is more than magic cryptocurrency used to buying drugs and paying for murders XD I'm glad, when some of them ask me after all about this.\n\nIt sounds pompous but It's revolution, I'm taking a part in this revolution and I’m fucking proud about this.\n\nMotivation is to give example how to get started with dapps development. Ofc it’s only my example, not the best way ever to become blockchain god :)",
