Every single human being on earth loves to either sing or listen to music. Music has now been an integral part of man’s life. Music is used to relax the mind of man, it also changes the mood of people, people listen to music when they are down. Music has so much usefulness in the life of man and man can’t do without music. Music is being sung from country to country, from region to region with a different language and different musical instruments.\n\nMusic is formed when people combine different notes to create a pleasant sound to the hearing of the listener. The music itself is an art, that people create and sell to make money. Today in the world we have countless musicians who are millionaires in dollars. The music industry is becoming wider as the days go by. The like beatmakers, composers, directors, writers, even singers and lots more make the music industry.\n\nSeeing the facts musicians are making money does not mean that the music industry is not having a negative side. Theft of Music has been on the rise for a long now. The main owner of some songs has suffered great loss due to theft in the music industry, piracy and copyright just become the order of the day in the music industry. Sometimes even the Musicians get nothing from their song. \n\nKnowing the fact that ownership right is crucial for you to make a living out of the music you sang or wrote. Which made blockchain technology of high importance to the music industry. Your music can be saved in the ledger, which everyone can see but one can change it. Former before your song will be heard, you will need a known musical label, that will sign you, determine how much you get, and also promote you and your song. Ever since the introduction of the Audius Platform,  It has brought Decentralization to the system. With the Audius Platform, you do not need the presence of the music label and the promoters. Audius platform made sure that there is no third between the Music creators and the listeners. This is a very good development because most of the time the music label charges a huge amount of money before you can get signed into their label.</li>\n<li>Ever since the Introduction of Audius came into existence, Musicians now receive direct feedback from the listeners which is better. And this will also help the musician to grow and connect more to their audience. This is also another great advantage of the Audius platform being a Decentralized system</li>\n<li>Another great thing about the Audius platform, is that it makes the Musician the legit owner of his Music. The fact that users can be part of the decision-making process, which is the core quality of the decentralized system. Knowing also that users can do governance voting on the audios platform is another reason why I said that it is a fully and fairly decentralized system. The fact that users partake in decision processing making it simply means that users can shape the future development and important update in the platform\nBy having the Audio token, you can stay on the Platform for as long as you can.\n\nMoreover, we know that the Audius Platform is built of a blockchain that is decentralized by nature. It is built of the second-largest blockchain which is called EThereum blockchain. The Audius uses its native token called the AUDIO. We know that Ethereum has a very strong security \n\nThe removal of all forms of Third parties makes it even more decentralized, we know all the processes, it involves a centralized system before the masses can hear your song. WIth the Audius Platform in place, Song owners now have copyright and full ownership of the songs that they created. \n\nAnother wonderful feature of the Audius platform being on Blockchain technology as a decentralized system is its transparency ability. When compared to the conventional way of music circulation which has no transparency. For the storage of Data, contents, Information, and any other thing on the platform it is needed for the operator to stake their Token so the system will be healthy. This is what is called Operator staking.\n\nThe operator staking is being done by the node operator,  As the node operators increase, it also increases the security of the Audius platform. For the operator to achieve these, the need of a supercomputer is needed  and also the operator needs to have enough Audio tokens for him to participate\n\n\n\n\n**Staking Delegation.**\nAs the name implies, this is the process of Delegating AUDIO tokens to the node operators, due to how expensive the node operator is, then when the reward comes, it will be shared accordingly depending on how many AUDIO tokens you have delegated. I’ll be talking about both below;\n\nStaking is an attribute of Proof of Stake based crypto currencies. In staking, members of a POS based network stake (lock up) coins they have of that network as a mining method to stand a chance to be chosen as a validator. The staked tokens are collateral.\nStaking is important in proof of stake based networks as this is how transactions are validated and new blocks are mined thereby securing the network. Only members who stake their coins in that network stand a chance to get chosen to validate transaction. Members who stake their coins in the network get some portion of the network’s token as rewards if chosen to validate a transaction.\n\nYield farming on the other hand, is lending your crypto tokens to a DeFi network via liquidity pools thereby providing liquidity to the pools and earning yields for lending these tokens like the typical interest collected when you lend a person money. \nUsually, investors lend tokens to these pools most of which operate on the Ethereum network using smart contracts and they lend them out and earn interest rates which are distributed to farmers.  If the token should also increase in value during that period, the liquidity provider’s profit could also soar. \nExample of yield farming protocols includes Compound and Uniswap.\n\n**Differences**\n1.\t**Mechanism**: Staking can only be done on cryptocurrencies based on proof of stake mechanism. You can stake individually or as a member of a staking pool. In staking, members of the network stake so they can be selected to validate transactions and secure the network. Usually, members with higher stakes have higher chances of being selected. In yield farming, there’s nothing like random selection and it involves smart contracts and DeFi protocols. Yield Farmers lend crypto tokens to liquidity pools and earn rewards.\n2.\t**Security**:  In yield farming, money borrowed is locked using smart contracts which are automated. Since this is essentially software there could be glitches or an error during programming. Hackers could also successfully hack it and cart liquidity providers funds and all your money could be liquidated instantly. Also, farmers who got in at the beginning usually hold large stakes. Sometimes, they decide to sell when the value of token appreciates and it could lead to huge crash in the value of the token. In staking however, the major risk could be a malicious validator and this is highly improbable as validators usually have higher stakes in the network and stand to lose more if the network crashes. Validators could also stand the risk of having their staked coins slashed.\n3.\t**Rewards**: In staking members with higher stake in the network have higher chances of being selected as validators and hence earn rewards usually in the form of native token. The rewards percentage however could be of way lower percentage when compared to yield farming. In staking, one could earn an APY of between 5-15% depending on the network and it depends on being chosen as a validator.\nIn yield farming however, yield farmers could earn up to 100% APY and even more. On the dash board, you can see your balance and earnings as well as yearly yield. The vault interface shows “Dashborad”, “Holdings” and “Yearly Yield”. We can also see the highest APY displayed.\n\n\nTo deposit funds, you click  on a vault you want to deposit to and enter the amount you wish to deposit. You approve and then deposit. \n\n**“Labs”**: This contains the newest and riskier options. What is its function?**</center>\n\nCollateralization, just as the name suggests, has to do with collateral one uses in order to successfully borrow tokens from a liquidity pool, just the way you provide collateral when borrowing from a traditional bank. For you to successfully borrow from a liquidity pool, you must put up a token as collateral to hold you accountable. The collateral value can always be verified and if the borrower fails to repay, his collateral is liquidated. \n\n**What is its function?**\n\nCollateralization helps to protect interest of the liquidity providers so they still earn interest whether the borrower repays or not. \nUsually, different DeFi protocols demand for different collateralization ratios, usually way higher than the amount being borrowed. Some require you collaterize up to 300% value of borrowed tokens or even more. Different assets could also require different collateral ratios. This is advised to prevent your collateral from getting liquidated if market goes sideways and collateral drops below collateralization threshold of that platform.\nYou can always check your collateralization ratio and top up on your collateral from time to time. State the reasons.**\n\nThe YFI token is undervalued.\nThe TVL ratio can be used to tell if a DeFi asset is overvalued or undervalued. A ratio below the value of 1 points to the asset being undervalued. In the case of the YFI token, we can see from the calculations above that our ratio is about 0.23, pointing to the fact that the token is undervalued. This means the token still has more potential. \nThe YFI token is the governance token of Yearn.Finance and can be farmed through different ways like depositing capital into the protocol’s products. It has a market rank of 103 according to www.coinmarketcap.com. Their vault option is a very great option as it helps users maximize yield and its use cases keeps expanding. Give reasons for your answer**</center>\n\nDeFi Farming though very profitable could be very risky. Some of the risks include;\n<ul><li> In yield farming, there’s no intermediate to explain things to you or guide you from making mistakes. One could make a mistake and his funds could be gone forever as block chain transactions are irreversible. Also, yield farming requires a lot of strategies and these could change as quickly as the next day. Drop in volatility could cut profit of farmers from arbitrage trading for example. If you’re not quick and up to date, you could lose a lot of money</li>\n<li>Liquidation of collateral: One has to provide collateral before borrowing from a protocol so borrowers are held accountable. Usually, a certain collateral ratio is demanded. If the market were to suffer and the value of collateral you put in drops to a certain level, your funds could be liquidated immediately</li>\n<li>Glitches in smart contracts and chances of being hacked: In yield farming, there are no middlemen rather use smart contracts on the blockchain which are essentially software coded by the protocol developers. There could be glitches in this software or hackers could find weak spots in the coding and run away with farmers’ tokens. This could be very terrible especially as blockchain transactions are irreversible. This was the case with Yam token which dropped suddenly from about $167 to about $0.97 in August because of a bug in the coding of the smart contract</li>\n<li>Impermanent loss: Farmers providing liquidity do so in pairs, so they put in equal value of both pairs into the pool. If the value of one of the pair should drop drastically, the coins in the liquidity pool shifts. Considering how volatile cryptocurrency could pair, this is very likely to happen. This could lead to impermanent loss on the part of the farmer as the value of tokens he put in is different from the value when he received rewards.</li>\n\n<center>![line.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWepKLbo2QdZdXXmNsyHiHg4aL7aujEKS5JZ2JTEpPQsD/line.png)</center>\n\n<center>**Conclusion**</center>\n\nThe concept of yield farming though new, got widespread acceptance and has since seen tremendous growth after Compound came into the picture. Though it could generate very enormous rewards up to 100% yield or more, it is also very risky and requires thorough research and great strategizing as one could lose all his funds in an instant due to reasons such as a bug in the smart contract even.
