Standings were completely shaken up, 100T takes 1st and Clutch falls to 6th. Take a look at the infographic from Riot.\n\n<center>https://riot-web-cdn.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/lolesports/s3fs-public/styles/centered/public/nalcs_infographic_week9_v3.jpg?ATbDGDyTE3Zse_ipBmcb3zMLtKeIwNeZ&itok=Ho4DVmGh</center>\n\nTSM and 100 have massive end of season surges, both teams look very strong and securing their places in the playoffs. FOX looking pretty weak for the past few weeks, but luckily still holding onto second place. TL, C9, and Clutch all looked pretty bad the past week or so as well. In the end, they still maintain playoff spots and will battle each other along with TSM during quarterfinals. Which start this weekend. \n\n<h2>No. 2 Let's go Clutch!</h2>\nClutch hasn’t been performing as I expected and hoped the past couple weeks. This worries me that they can’t perform when it counts. The point could be argued that once they secured a playoff spot...the rest of the regular season “didn’t matter”, but it sure would have made for an easier playoff run if they had had a late-season surge such as 100 or TSM. \n\nOn Sunday Clutch takes on TSM for quarterfinals in a best of 5. This also worries me. Sure Clutch has won more games than they have lost against TSM this season, but they were all best of 1’s. TSM has always been that team that loses the first game in a series and then comes out with the win. I really hope Clutch’s consistency can provide them the endurance to smash TSM in this series. \n\nMy advice... \n\n- Make mikeyeung tilt. He’s gotten some practice in getting smashed and playing from behind this season, but I think he’s still not experienced enough to deal with constant pressure. \n- Ban gangplank, I don’t care if Hauntzer actually sucks and Solo thinks he can take him...he has like a 100% win rate on the champion this season. Just burn the ban and don’t worry about it.\n- Don’t waste bans on Bjergsen...he’s capable on any champ and he USUALLY doesn’t hard carry in my opinion, he’s just a stalwart midlaner than isn’t ever going to be the reason his team loses. \n- Focus bot lane. Zven/Mithy have really not been performing to expectations this season, at all. Smash that lane. \n\nThe general strategy should be to create a large amount of pressure on TSM, exposing their communication and synergy issues they seem to be having. \n\nHave some confidence guys and GLHF.\n\n<h2>Best of 5’s</h2>\n\nThe format for playoffs, as mentioned, is best of 5’s. A common theme throughout this season has been discussing how the format is affecting the standings. Will the standard teams we expect to be on top (TSM, C9, TL) easily rise to the top due to the longer format? Does a team with more skill just flat-out win a longer series due to their ability to adapt and match their opponent’s style? There is the top tier story, FOX, C9, and Clutch struggle for who will be 'the best'. There is the playoff-bound story, where TSM, TL, and CLG fight it out for a spot in playoffs. Then there is the sad story, of FLY, GGS, and OPT who are already eliminated.\n\nArguably the most hype story of the week will be if the convoluted series of events, for CLG to go to playoffs, will occur. Long story short, it doesn't look great for them. Going into week 9, having watched plenty of LoL content over the week...I'm a little worried. NOT because I doubt Clutch at all...but because it feels like THEY do doubt themselves. The theme I'm worried about here is \"Nice guys finish last\". Now, I'm a nice guy, but I learned a long time ago that sometimes you need to roll with that borderline asshole cockiness to get the job done. Just ask my wife (@morganaleflaye). \n\nIt's a fine line, sure....but you have to have some confidence in what you can do. [Apollo](https://twitter.com/CG_Apollo) is being touted as \"the nicest player in LCS\", probably fighting for contention with [Biofrost](https://twitter.com/Biofrostlol). He is literally saying \"maybe if we did a Bo3 against them it would have turned out different\"...referring to wins against TSM. Some of these things have been mentioned here and there. Clutch didn't manage the 2-0 I was hoping for, but I'm proud they took down Fox. The field is still so volatile. Clutch has beat TSM a couple times now, but loses to TL, who has just lost to TSM. Fox randomly dropping games to different teams across the spectrum. Do you think the last week of regular season will firm up the standings a bit more? I was rooting for 100 after they came out of the gate at full blast...but now, I'm not so sure. Sure, Echo Fox is number 1...but then they get outplayed by Golden Guardians? If you’re the best team, you shouldn’t be losing to one of the worst...right? The same thing can be said about Team Liquid, 100 Thieves, and TeamSoloMid. All four of these teams have showed some serious inconsistency in their gameplay, especially lately. Cloud9 and Clutch Gaming actually have continued to perform consistently, with some slip ups here and there, but if you watch the games there are clear mistakes made that can be corrected. You can even see that in a team like Golden Guardians. \n\nA lot of rambling here, but I’m just curious what will happen when playoffs begin and teams have multiple games to get in their groove against an opponent. \n\n<h2>No. 2 Let's go Clutch!</h2>\n\nI might just keep one of these reserved to brag or chat about Clutch Gaming. These guys are making me proud of the fact I bandwagoned them immediately upon hearing that my home city was getting an LCS team. They haven’t lost a single game to the lower tier teams through the whole season. No other team can claim that right now. Does that solidify them as ‘good’ but not ‘great’? I don’t think so. These LCS seasons aren’t sprints...they’re marathons. Consistency is massively important, and if you can add in some continual improvement...that’s a recipe for success. If you’re still one of the doubters...just take a look at how Clutch is also taking over the stats leaderboards.\n\n\n<h2>No. 3 What’d you say?</h2>\n\nCommunication. I firmly believe it’s about 80%+ of the reason my friends and I aren’t winning all our games. No we aren’t amazing or anything, and some of us might even suck, but if you have a group of 5 people working together towards a singular goal, you’re likely to achieve it. It’s a very noticeable issue in my games, miscommunication, lack of understanding for the path forward, misinterpretation of the win conditions...etc. I blame myself, I need to work better to talk more and communicate with my team. All this rambling aside, it got me wondering how some of these pro teams manage really good communication. Many teams have language barrier issues. Some have wishy washy ideas of who is the shotcaller. I’d like to see/hear more of the background and behind the scenes on these teams to understand their struggles. Might be a great learning experience for myself and my teammates. We all speak english just fine. Perhaps if we stopped trolling each other a bit, it might all workout better. Essentially baron empowered minions became much stronger in 8.4, and stacking that with Banner of Command (which buffs a minion) allowed that single minion to take a tower from 100 to 0 with 8 shots. So you saw teams protecting the minion and just sitting back to watch the show. \nPretty interesting gameplay really, but....looks like it’s already gone. Or it will be shortly. I would have had them all, but FOX and C9 drop games?? To a couple of the bottom tier teams?? Crazy.
