At least that's the early consensus on FOMO 3D and PoWH3D, two of the platform's top three apps entering Tuesday.\n\nAccording to data website DappRadar, both games have amassed 20,000 ether ($9 million) in trading volume over the last 24 hours, a figure that puts them on par with top decentralized exchanges and that exceeds the highest highs of CryptoKitties, the blockchain's most famous viral decentralized application (dapp) to date.\n\nPerhaps unique to both projects though is how they create an incentive to bring new people in so users can share the spoils as they do so. Both applications also collapse if new users quit joining in a way that's similar to a basic pyramid scheme.\n\nHowever, these particular games make it much more complicated (and maybe more fun).\n\n\"At the core, they seem to be taking the ideas of pay-per-bid auction models that were popular in 2009–2011, except instead of selling 'real' products for the bid price, they sell nothing tangible or of real value,\" Sid Kalla, of token project consulting firm Turing Advisory Group, told CoinDesk.\n\nIn penny auctions, people paid a tiny amount of money to make a bid on a real item. The final winning bidder might get a deal, but the organization running the auction would make many times over the price of the item from the fees collected on the way to that bid.\n\nAt least then auctioneers took on some risk: the cost of the item and operational costs. With these games, there's none (except perhaps indictments).\n\nBoth projects appear to be by the same group, which calls itself \"TeamJUST.\" The creators are keeping themselves anonymous and were not immediately available for comment. Not only is Buterin the creator of ethereum, but Poon co-authored the Lightning Network white paper, which set the roadmap for the technology widely touted as bitcoin's best shot for increasing its number of users.\n\nTogether, the two are a powerhouse pair to have working on a scalability project.\n\nPoon told CoinDesk:\n\n\"People say you can't run everything in the world on the blockchain, but I really, really think it's possible.\"\n\nHe believes wholeheartedly in ethereum's mission of becoming a world computer that \"replaces server farms,\" and has no doubt that its scaling hurdles will be overcome.\n\n\"This decentralized application stuff has looked like hype to really technical people, because there wasn't a clear trajectory and a path showing how it's achievable,\" Poon said.\n\nBut now, with Plasma, he believes there is.\n\nBaby blockchains\n\nThe short version of the scalability problem is this: To check ethereum's history, users need to keep a copy of the entire blockchain, their own complete record of the history of transactions and computations. Infrastructure for brick and mortar banks struggle due to the remote nature of the continent, but mass adoption of cryptocurrency could see many marginalized people empowered through digital currency.\n\nCryptocurrency is being hailed in the developed world as the next step in money, but it is locked in a fight with a well established and powerful financial sector. In the developing world, however, that sector is broken and ripe for mutiny.\n\nLeapfrogging the obsolete\nTraditional banking sectors have been implemented across the African continent in the same mould as in the developed European banks due to colonization. However, Africa’s infrastructure and inner workings do not make this system efficient in any way.\n\nThus, banks have been forced upon Africans as a necessity; however, they are difficult to use and unsuited to the continent.\n\nThis leapfrogging of technology has happened before in Africa as many citizens of the continent simply skipped the part of owning a landline as they were cumbersome, expensive and difficult to set up in rural areas. Mobile phones suited Africa much more, as would cryptocurrencies.\n\nThe signs are there\nAfrica’s Bitcoin and cryptocurrency market in general is slowly taking root.       "body": "The total value of all cryptocurrencies set a new all-time high today, rising above $126 billion for the first time in history, according to data from CoinMarketCap.\n\nThe new benchmark was set at 8:00 UTC and comes just four days after the crypto asset class set a previous record above $116 billion.\n\nAt press time, the price increase appears to be driven by a new influx of capital into bitcoin, the markets oldest and perhaps best understood asset. Over the last seven days, the value of one bitcoin is up more than 20%, rising to over $3,500 from $2,854 last Friday.\n\nDuring that time, the total value of its coin supply also rose, climbing in value to $57 billion from $47 billion a week ago.\n\nStrong gains have also been seen in the top-10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.\n\nNeo (formerly Antshares), a well-publicized project out of China saw its market capitalization pass $1 billion for the first time. Over the past seven days, it has seen its market capitalization rise to $1.7 billion, up from $550 million, as its price per coin climbed to $34, up from roughly $10 seven days ago.\n\nElsewhere, IOTA also rose to $1.7 billion, up from $1.1 billion, while ether, the native cryptocurrency on the ethereum blockchain, increased its total market cap to $28 billion, up from $21 billion a week ago.\n\nBut that's not to say all cryptocurrencies have seen such big movements during the period.",

So far, the theory has only been tested on mice but lead author Li-Huei Tsai is hopeful that eventually, it could be successful in reversing the symptom in humans.\n\nMemory loss is a form of cognitive decline which occurs when the enzyme HCAC2 compresses the brain's memory genes until they are rendered useless which, in turn, leads to forgetfulness and difficulty forming memories.\n\nWhilst the obvious solution is to simply block HCAC2 in action, doing so has proven difficult without impacting other HDAC enzymes, which affect the internal organs.\n\nMIT's approach differs in that it exclusively affects HCAC2, leaving other enzymes undisturbed, something which has not yet been achieved.",
