Ariana Grande didn’t care though and she has presented us with a new video, starring Kris Jenner, Troye Sivan, her co-stars from Victorious and many other incredible individuals, for her new song “thank u, next” which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts when it was initially released and is definitely going to keep its momentum after the music video hit today, in fact, it will probably become even bigger.</p>\n<p>Today’s climate is extremely divisive. Society is broken into very many pieces with disagreements between people of different religions, races, nationalities. Ariana herself endured an absolutely tragic incident in Manchester. She has been recovering since, but the world really hasn’t. There are more countries at war right now than you would think. The divide is even as prominent as ever in The USA, where the main conflict is caused by varying political and societal views, making people forget the importance of unity and respecting other people’s opinions. This has lead many artists to make lots of social commentaries, criticisms, which continue to provoke our thoughts to no end and point out the problems and evils of our time.</p>\n<p>So what then makes the seemingly silly Mean Girls remake so special and important? Well, I’m glad you asked. In this time of tension and hostility, we need something carefree, positive, something that helps us remind ourselves what it truly means to be human, to be together. His “Nina Cried Power” EP has been released very recently and it definitely proves all the people who thought that he was going to be just another bland one hit wonder that we’ve seen so many of wrong.\n\nThe EP contains only 4 songs (or should I say works of art) but still delivers some diversity and provides a very real and gripping experience. Hozier is like a lyrical poet, his way with words is fascinating and unique to him and his style, his rhymes are seamless and the imagery is descriptive, although filled with metaphors and some ambiguous messages left for the listener to interpret.\n\nIt begins with a bang, “Nina Cried Power” is such a strong, influential, rolling song with a lovely message hidden in the references to legendary singers who have fought for peace and freedom with their art. The chorus will be stuck in our heads for eternities and the raw vocals of Hozier and Mavis Staples scream truth into our eardrums relentlessly. We then get launched into the magical “NFWMB” with the calming and pure sound, although the lyrics are the most interesting point of the song for me since they left me guessing if the song is just about passion or does it represent a completely different and global meaning.\n\nDamn is “Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue)” intriguing. It delivers the rawest sexual meaning in the most poetic, unique and beautiful way. The snappy beat and seductive vocals are irresistible, giving us a very energetic  and compelling experience. In a complete turn of events, “Shrike” slaps us with feelings and leaves us longing for everything we ever lost. It’s about missing someone or something very very much and wanting it back extremely bad. It’s almost as Hozier is playing with our heartstrings instead of the guitar on this wonderful closer.\n\nThe EP is really beautiful and marks a new bright era on this talented artist’s journey.       "body": "<html>\n<p><img src=\"https://d3c1jucybpy4ua.cloudfront.net/data/52189/big_picture/Mitski-The-405.jpg?1488192871\" width=\"970\" height=\"647\"/></p>\n<p>After 2 years of waiting the Japanese-American artist Mitski is back and she has improved even more, which we didn’t even know was possible after hearing wonderfully executed pieces of work like “Your Best American Girl”. But the genius has smitten us with her rays of damn smart lyrics and interesting production on her latest record “Be The Cowboy”.</p>\n<p>I’ve been extremely invested in this record ever since “Geyser” came out, it has been engraved in my mind with that weird static noise at the beginning and the pure raw emotion and devotion to one person that just oozes from Mitski and has made an incredible opener to “Be The Cowboy”. And the second single definitely did not disappoint. “Nobody” has even made some waves in the wider public, even if it didn’t become a mainstream hit I don’t think Mitski had any goals like that. The second single wowed me with its really smart choices, like the lyrics “Venus, planet of love/Was destroyed by global warming” and just silly representations of extreme loneliness seen in “My God, I’m so lonely/So I open the window/To hear sounds of people”. The mellow production with the nostalgic piano, drums and guitar creates the perfect atmosphere of internal emptiness but also presents it in a happy, almost positive manner. Even the chorus fading out into the outro seamlessly just further pushes the isolated feel even further .</p>\n<p>At this point I was super excited for the record and damn worried to not be disappointed but “Be The Cowboy” exceeded all my expectations. It gains lots of momentum on “Why Didn’t You Stop Me?” with that bouncy production that just pops and gets stuck in your head for lifetimes just to jump into the monotonous and sentimental “Old Friend” and then throws us in a whirl and just crashes on our heads with “A Pearl”, one of my absolute favorites, talking about an endless struggle to move on and drop the image, the “Pearl” that she’s still fascinated by, from her head. Some of the rawest and most intimate lyrics are delivered in the track “Lonesome Love”, which is also one of the shortest songs at just under 2 minutes, which is kind of a trend on “Be The Cowboy”, although the length of the tracks doesn’t bother me since, in my opinion, they manage to deliver their message and have the intended impact. For example, “A Horse Named Cold Air” and “Come into the Water” I think would’ve suffered if they had gone on any longer, however now they provide us with the dreary and gloomy feel without getting stale and boring.</p>\n<p>My favorite line on the whole album is delivered on “Remember My Name”. “Just how many stars will I need to hang around me/To finally call it heaven?” is such a brilliant line that is really intelligent and thought provoking. The track in general talks about the hardships of being a performer and searching, longing for love. I was kind of baffled by the song “Me and My Husband” since it’s basically the only purely happy and positive one on the album and is almost a departure from the record’s theme as a whole, however it helps create a cohesive experience and almost pushes the theme in general and makes it even more interesting. “Pink in the Night” builds up and grows until it becomes so close, personal, just bashing us with regret until we actually feel the same emotion as the artist.</p>\n<p>The three closing tracks are quite unique. I’m in love with “Washing Machine Heart” and its lively, bubbly sound that’s completely contrasted by the depressing lyrics and vocal delivery. Then “Blue Light” comes in with a bang and a completely rebellious song structure, starting at the high-point and then just drifting and blurring out from there. The closing track and the third single is absolutely magical. “Two Slow Dancers” is such a brilliant piano ballad and the rightfully the longest song on the album. It grips your heart, takes it out, burns it, stomps on it and then hugs and gently caresses it all at the same time.</p>\n<p>All in all, “Be The Cowboy” is an amazing album. I’ve been listening to it on repeat for the past few days and it is for sure one of my favorites of the whole year.       "body": "<html>\n<p>&nbsp;Ariana Grande's \"Sweetener\" and Mitski's \"Be The Cowboy\" both came out on August 17th and they are very different but both worth checking out and here I have short reviews for you so you might know what you're getting yourself into. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\"Sweetener\" is Ariana's most experimental album yet and while it's not everyone's cup of tea, it's nice to see her dive into interesting, new and more provoking genres than we're used to, so it's worth if not only to listen to have a fun ride, but maybe pick some songs for your summer playlist or some favorites in general along the way. It has me bawling, delving into my fears, dreams, hopes, passion and life in general. And the fifth song is here to bless us and help us with the wait. “Animal” is really touching, deep, extremely experimental for Troye because his sound here is familiar and yet really different at other parts too. Her image might be weird and she might seem like the strangest thing you’ve ever witnessed, but she does deliver some interesting conceptual records that really boggle your mind, because while they might seem shallow if you just see everything on the surface level, they’re really gripping and fascinating if you take in the whole message, concept and delve deeper into the puzzling world of Poppy.\n\nThe lead single off of her upcoming album “Am I A Girl?” has been fired at our faces, ears, minds and our whole auras, existences etc. and we can’t help but be happy about it because Poppy has resurfaced and blessed us with new music. It’s truly a spiritual experience that only the goddess could provide. If I had to give a less “Possessed by Poppy” opinion, the song is an actual banger. It has that signature playful bubblegum vibe, the synths are edgy and cut through, the beat is bouncy, evokes happiness and just flows really well. The lyrics are really on-brand, it’s flexing in her own way, a Poppy-esque take on the trend that’s really popular right now especially in hip-hop music, showing everyone who’s the upcoming supreme leader of the universe by singing “I am busy and important”.\n\nAll in all, I’m really excited for new material from Poppy.
