      "body": "Welcome to the April 2020 Previews catalog.  If you have been paying any attention to the news, then you are aware that the direct market is currently struggling.  Diamond has stopped shipping to stores, and DC is looking to bypass Diamond to get comics out sometime in early May.  Sadly, you can expect to see a lot of local comic shops close over the next couple of months.  If having a local comic shop is important to you, then one of the first things you should do once your \"stay in place\" order has dropped, is make a trip to your LCS.  You need to drop some money with them (maybe some of that stimulus check you may have received).  And I am not talking about dropping money on stuff the shop is clearing out, but rather on some back issues or items that they are selling at full retail.  Chances are, your shop really needs the cash flow.  OK, enough about that, on with the catalog.\n\nThis catalog felt a little light to me, with regards to books worth recommending, so if there is a #comic book you feel I should have recommended, I would love to hear about it in the comments section.\n\n\n![dc.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVkH7LR1dq8EWrEHm6viHeZJxryWpjjgWre3jdmmSYn7p/dc.jpg)\n\n\nDC\n=\n\n1- DCeased: Dead Planet 1.  It feels like DC is having more success with their non-continuity stories than they are with those that are in continuity.\n4 – Batman Three Jokers.  This was revealed to Batman in the Moebius chair, that there are actually three Jokers.  We now get the story.  This was originally from the Justice League New 52 run.\n48 - The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage 4, which is the final issue of the series has a terrific variant cover by Andrea Sorrentino.\n\n\n![marvel.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVeQFwXgarfhSxuKRBXRwHP1etJg879uUd12zmf81jCfY/marvel.jpg)\n\n\nMarvel\n=\n\n2 – Non-stop Spiderman 1, because we do not have enough Spider-man titles already.  Does not say it is a limited series, but it almost certainly is.  Might be some new villains introduced here.\n\n5 - Darkhold Alpha 1. So, apparently Steve Orlando has never done work at Marvel before.  So, this will be his first-time writing Marvel characters.\n\n6 – Shang-Chi gets a new limited series.  This should be an ongoing instead to start building up to the movie.\n\n8 to 26  - Empyre if anyone cares.\n\n38 -39: Some new True Believers books include the first Mr. Sinister, Wild Child, Empath, and Cypher\n\n51 – Infinite Destinies teaser for the next event coming to the Marvel Universe.  Looks like it will be an annual crossover like we used to get in the 90s.\n\n57 – Black Widow 3 – White Widow, great, now I have Billy Idol stuck in my head.\n\n85 – Ta-Nehisi Coates’ ends his run on Black Panther.  This has been a great series.  This also makes me wonder how much longer he will be on Captain America, another series I have been enjoying.\n\n101 – I usually don’t mention the statues, but I am digging the Taskmaster Marvel Comic Gallery PVC Diorama. More important with Campus Comics going pull only for at least the next couple of months.\n\n32 – In case you missed it,  Free Comic Book Day has been postponed\n\n42 – Chu 1 , from the creators of Chew, his sister, who is not as nice as Chew as a slightly different ability, but still based on taste.\n\n58 – FirePower 1 and 2 is solicited from Image with writing by Kirkman and art by Chris Samnee.  Despite being a very derivative story (which a lot of Kirkman’s work is), it is really good.\n\n78 – Die 12 -  This is one of my favorite books out right now.  If you were a Saturday morning DungeonS & Dragons cartoon watcher, then this is a grown up version of the story.\n\n94 – You look Like Death: Tales from the Umbrella Academy.  New series for fans.\n\n134 – Snake Eyes Deadgame 1, written and drawn by Liefield.  Surprisingly, Snake-Eyes has feet in many of the promo shots.\n\n136 - A facsimile edition of GI Joe 21, the silent issue is being released.  If you have never \"read\" this issue, you should check it out.\n\n304 – I have no special knowledge here, but I think Dynamic Forces may be in trouble.  Some shops have stopped ordering because they tend to not deliver their products in a timely manner.  \n\n316 – New Overstreet price guide.\n\n362 – Blade Runner 2019 9, the concluding arc of the series, but it is ongoing? More from the Dark Multiverse.  This time you have Batman with a scythe, Bizarro-looking Superman with Darkseid’s arm, and Wonder Woman with the Joker Who Laughs skull on her knee with a chainsaw that she starts with her Lasso of Truth.  This is not quite my taste in comics, but if you like your stories turned up to 11, this may be a book for you.\n\n4 – Generation One. Rumors have been flying about Gen 5, so here we get some concrete information.  Generation One will kick of on Free Comic Book Day.  Looks like DC is trying to make up for what they did to Wally in Heroes in Crisis.  The Generation books will consist of 5 prestige one-shots to introduce Gen 5, possibly in September of 2020.  In Generation One, we will learn which Golden Age hero becomes its greatest villain.\n\n6 – Batman: The adventure Continues 1. New 6 issue limited series set in the world of Batman the Animated Series.  Written by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett.\n\n8 – Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular 1.  Green Lantern gets the special treatment for his 80th birthday.  This time, we at least get a preview of the available covers, except of course, Jim Lee's, whose plate is pretty full at them moment.\n\n10 – Batman 94.  So, apparently the cover solicited for this issue was moved up, so the Artgerm variant cover is not the one you would receive.\n\n25 – Batman Secret Files 3 – I thought this issue might have the first appearances of a couple of new chararacters, Mr. Teeth and Gunsmith, but, they appeared in Batman 86.\n\n43- Nightwing 72.  If you need more Punchline, she shows up in this issue of Nightwing.\n\n76 – Flash Forward TPB. A 5 issue series focusing on the Juggernaut, written by Fabian Nicieza and art by Ron Garney.  \n\n34 – Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum 1.  37 artists recreate Giant-Size Xmen 1 as a tribute  to Len Wein and Dave Cockrum.\n\n84 – Immortal Hulk 35 and 36.  I just like the cover comparison of these two issues with the Leader skulking around in the background.  Can Hulk have a happy ending?  Apparently, no.\n\n118 – Eternals Complete Saga Omnibus.  Get the direct market only version with the Kirby cover and become familiar with the Eternals before their movie release later this year.\n\n124 – Xmen/Fantastic Four 4x.  collect sthe 4 issue series by Zdarsky and the husband/wife Dodson team.\n\n144 – Punisher: Soviet. This time you have Batman with a scythe, Bizarro-looking Superman with Darkseid’s arm, and Wonder Woman with the Joker Who Laughs skull on her knee with a chainsaw that she starts with her Lasso of Truth.  This is not quite my taste in comics, but if you like your stories turned up to 11, this may be a book for you.\n\n4 – Generation One. Rumors have been flying about Gen 5, so here we get some concrete information.  Generation One will kick of on Free Comic Book Day.  Looks like DC is trying to make up for what they did to Wally in Heroes in Crisis.  The Generation books will consist of 5 prestige one-shots to introduce Gen 5, possibly in September of 2020.  In Generation One, we will learn which Golden Age hero becomes its greatest villain.\n\n6 – Batman: The adventure Continues 1. New 6 issue limited series set in the world of Batman the Animated Series.  Written by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett.\n\n8 – Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular 1.  Green Lantern gets the special treatment for his 80th birthday.  This time, we at least get a preview of the available covers, except of course, Jim Lee's, whose plate is pretty full at them moment.\n\n10 – Batman 94.  So, apparently the cover solicited for this issue was moved up, so the Artgerm variant cover is not the one you would receive.\n\n25 – Batman Secret Files 3 – I thought this issue might have the first appearances of a couple of new chararacters, Mr. Teeth and Gunsmith, but, they appeared in Batman 86.\n\n43- Nightwing 72.  If you need more Punchline, she shows up in this issue of Nightwing.\n\n76 – Flash Forward TPB. I just cannot bring myself to care about Empyre. And since the first 23 pages are all about Empyre, it is page 24 before I find something worth mentioning.\n\n24 – Juggernaut 1.  A 5 issue series focusing on the Juggernaut, written by Fabian Nicieza and art by Ron Garney.  \n\n34 – Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum 1.  37 artists recreate Giant-Size Xmen 1 as a tribute  to Len Wein and Dave Cockrum.\n\n84 – Immortal Hulk 35 and 36.  I just like the cover comparison of these two issues with the Leader skulking around in the background.  Can Hulk have a happy ending?  Apparently, no.\n\n118 – Eternals Complete Saga Omnibus.  Get the direct market only version with the Kirby cover and become familiar with the Eternals before their movie release later this year.\n\n124 – Xmen/Fantastic Four 4x.  collect sthe 4 issue series by Zdarsky and the husband/wife Dodson team.\n\n144 – Punisher: Soviet. Robin the Boy Wonder hits 80, and since he does not have his own title to be at 1000 issues likes Supes and the Bat, DC is giving him a one shot with the decades cover variant format.  No previews of any of the covers, but the 1980s Frank Miller has my interest piqued.  \n2 – Strange Adventures 1. Tom King brings us a 12 issue series that is supposed to do for Adam Strange what King did for Mr. Miracle last year.  \n66 – DC Dollar Comics.  A few good dollar comics from DC this month.  Included are Batman 428 (Death of Robin, Justice League 1 (1st Maxwell Lord), and JLA 1 (The Morrison run).\n70 – Batman Last Knight on Earth.  Hardcover collecting the complete Snyder Batman story.\n71 – Superman Smashes the Klan. Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos bring us their take on a school for magicians instead of a school for mutants.  I feel like this is going to be a bunch of obnoxious tween characters, but their may be some first appearances show up in this issue.  4 Preview issues are included for review.  Also, when did we get the Mindful Ones?\n7 – Spider-Woman 1.  Jessica Drew returns and it looks like she is getting a new costume.  \n10 – Spiderman Noir 1. The 1939 Spiderman gets a new 5 issue limited series for fans of the character.\n26 – Road to Empyre: the Kree/Skrull War 1.  So, Marvel cannot live without an event for to long, so here we get a prolog to the next event, Empyre.  \n28 – True Believers Dollar comics.  The best of this group is probably the reprint of Savage She-Hulk 1 (1st She-Hulk) and Avengers 19 (first Swordsman).  This books apparently focus on characters and story points for the upcoming event Empyre.\n45 – Immortal Hulk 32 and 33.  Here is your monthly reminder to read Immortal Hulk if you are not already.\n48 – Captain America 20 – I am still enjoying Ta-Nehisi Coates run on Captain America.  Issue 20 begins a story arc that is supposed to be ramping up to issue 25.  \n\n![C1.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSn9hL2z9woJtAo9Tzx3CJjt4uFpS2FvpREeFYK1cMWFz/C1.jpg)\n\nSide One\n-\n\n24 – There are about 1000 times more books in the catalog than what I mention, so you should head to your local comic shop and check out Previews for yourself.  I can almost guarantee you will see something you like.\n30 – Fire Power 1.  New book from Robert Kirkman and Chris Samnee.  This will be the first appearance of this character, so you should plan to be at your local comic shop on Free Comic Book Day and pick one up.\n31- Jack Kirby: the Epic Life of the King of Comics.  Another Free Comic Book Day offering about Jack Kirby.  Your Local Comic Shop does have to pay for these “free” books, so if there is something you are particularly interested in, you should let your LCS know.\n50 – Decorum 1.  A new series from Jonathan Hickman.  Includes a 3 page preview of art from Mike Huddleston.  Definitely looks interesting, but the copy is a little limited on what the series is about, other, than if is about assassins.\n58 – Stealth 1.  I believe this series has already been optioned for a TV show.  \n94 – X-Ray Robot 1.  A new 4 issue series from Mike Allred.  I enjoy Allred’s art, but it is not for everyone.  I expect this book to be a bit trippy.\n122 – Cyberpunk 2077.  It looks like Dark Horse is banking on this video game being a big hit.  This month they offer stickers, coasters, magnets, and puzzles for potential fans of the game.  \n230 – Kirby: King of Comics.  Softcover anniversary edition of the excellent biography about Jack Kirby by Mark Evanier.\n351 – Blade Runner 2019 FCBD.  Boom has a larger ad for their Free Comic Book Day one-shot for Blade Runner than they do for issue 8 of the series found on page 352.
