| title | A new look at Tether (USDT) |
| body | Hello again everyone, just a quick idea that's been cooking up in my mind for some time now. Some crypto exchanges out there, the big five being Bitfinex, Poloniex, Bittrex, Binance, and OKex use tether as their stable currency. This is extremely useful during market swings, as it allows you to weather out the storm, and protect your capital. In this short article, I will not focus on whether Tethers are backed or not, instead, I would like to share my ideas about the time frames they are released. We all know that tether should be pegged against the US dollar, yet we can observe how it fluctuates in value during a given period of time. It usually ranges from 0.9x - 1.0x. We also know that at any given time, there exists a circulating supply of Tethers, and of course, the total supply. So let us now observe a hypothetical situation in which the crypto markets are about to crash 1. People notice early reversal signs, and try to find shelter in tethers. 2. The prices start reversing, and even more people find their safety in tether, mostly by automated stop losses. 3. This in turn, makes tethers more scarce, and the price of it starts increasing (1.00 -> 1.0x) 4. It is time for people who control tether, to try reducing it's price. If possible, they release some of the tether from the total supply, into the circulating supply. They are basicaly trying to bring the value of a single tether as close as possible to 1.00 $ 5. Yet the crash continues, people still sell crypto for tether, and eventually, the total supply matches the circulating supply. 6. This is where things diverge. Left untouched, tether value would skyrocket, further devaluating bitcoin on the 5 major exchanges, and cause a *positive feedback loop*. The price of bitcoin drops, while the value of tether increases, and it gets repeated over and over again. The only solution would be to print more tether, backed or unbacked, in an effort to keep the markets from crashing further 7. Having printed new tether, you basically prevent this scenario from happening, while also buying huge amounts of crypto at a discount, which you can later use to manipulate the markets as you see fit, or in other manners that would benefit you. This can be observed on the tether charts from December to January when massive amounts of new tether were introduced, in sync with the market correction phases. Let me know what you think about this. |

| title | Thoughts and reflections from a day trader's perspective #1 |
| body | From my previous posts, one could think I'm a pessimist extraordinaire, but with money involved you can never be too careful. *This is not financial advice* I am in love with everything crypto, and a day trader in the making. I've been able to increase my portfolio by 23% in the past week trading medium cap alts. Surely not a big number for the space, but the alt markets are going through a pullback, and it would make me happy just to stay afloat, let alone increase my positions. I traded on Bittrex, mostly with Pivx (PIV/BTC), and switched to Neo today. Pivx is releasing the recently announced zPiv update, and though I'm exuberant about the purple people in the long run, the price today could go both ways. Watching from a distance for now.
*NEO* Switched to NEO - the Chinese elections are coming in a few days, and that could effect the price positively. They have listed blockchain technology as an area to focus on in their 13th Five-Year Plan, among other technical frontiers. In my eyes their rampage over the ICO-s, was nothing else but a necessity to put a stop on a market destined to fall, because let's face it, there is a coin for everything and many new are introduced regularly. That pile of bullsh** will eventually topple over, leaving only the sound projects standing. Banning their citizens from participating in a bubble ICO market, is a way to protect their financial interests, as they develop a future Chinese blockchain model. *ALTCOINS & BTC GOLD* The recent surge in the price of bitcoin was fueled by money taken from the altcoin markets. I have not been around when Bitcoin Cash forked, but people basically received free money when it did. Many are hoping that history will repeat itself. Yet a simple question needs to be answered: If everybody plans to sell, who are they going to sell it to? I'm staying as far away as I can around the forking date, and will lay down hiding in the altcoin space. This is what I'm betting on: 1. Bitcoin gold forks - no reason to hold so much BTC anymore, especially considering the price explosion and a possible correction 2. Bitcoin sell off - for profit or loss, money gets returned back to altcoin markets 3. Sound altcoins go up in two digit percentages 4. ??? 5. Profit (^_^) Thanks for reading, Ante |

As I was researching about it, I visited your webpage which conveniently translated to Croatian. I could barely understand anything, so I thought about translating the page from scratch in a more professional manner. Would this be a possibility, and how can I propose this to the community? |

| title | Part Two: In which we become detectives in the world of crypto mystery! |
| body | [To read part one, click here.](https://steemit.com/ante/@botixx/part-one-in-which-we-find-the-price-history-of-bitcoin-could-predict-the-next-big-crash) We will start our journey on August 2nd, 2016. Bitfinex, the largest exchange by volume in the world, just got hacked. The perpetrator managed to steal 119,756 bitcoin, valued at almost $70 million, remaining unidentified to the present day. In response to the theft, Bitfinex distributed the loss among it's user base, reducing their accounts by 36% in order to compensate for the stolen bitcoin. Naturally, this was received poorly by the users who did not have their wallets emptied. The management of the exchange decided not to declare bankruptcy, instead issuing tokens they would one day buy back, effectively reimbursing the stolen bitcoin, together with the 36% that was distributed among those who were unaffected by the hack. Thus the BFX token was born, and started trading on the exchange. By the very creation of BFX tokens, Bitfinex transferred the liability of their debt onto their customers. It was valued at 1$ at the release time, but quickly lost value, as users didn't believe Bitfinex would be able to repay the debt. Following this chart, we can see the value of the token, during time it was in use. How convenient was it to have your debt almost halved weeks after it came into existence. This basically enabled them to buy off their debt at a discount, which they promised not to do. Promises, promises. At those times, people looking into the exchange's revenue, calculated it would take 7 to 8 years to fully repay all the customers. They did it in 8 months, reclaiming the lost reputation, and becoming stronger than ever. Now, logic dictates that in order to repay a debt, you must repay it with something of value. This is where things get interesting and a bit complex.
**2. Introducing TETHER (USDT)** For those of you who might not be familiar with it, Tether is a cryptocurrency linked to the US dollar. Basically, for every Tether in existence, there should be a US dollar on a bank account somewhere backing it. It currently has the fifth largest cap on *www.coinmarketcap.com*
Back in April, Wells Fargo reversed US dollar cash deposits designated for Bitfinex, who filed a lawsuit only to withdraw it a week later. You can read about it [here.](https://bitcoinira.com/articles/wells-fargo-bitfinex-war-escalates-bitfinex-shuts-fiat-deposits) In turn, Bitfinex started accepting payments through its sister company Tether. By depositing a dollar to their bank account, you recieve one USDT (TETHER), which can then be traded on numerous exchanges. At the time of writing, the total supply of Tether is 437,061,572 USDT. But remember - for every tether, a dollar must be deposited as coverage. What really made me dig into this topic was an article on Medium by Bitcrypto'ed. Before you continue reading this blogpost, I recommend you read [THIS ARTICLE](https://medium.com/@bitfinexed/the-so-called-tether-audit-that-isnt-an-audit-at-all-5a40cfcc2a75), and after that, I strongly urge you to read the rest of his posts there. You can also follow him on twitter.
If you for some reason did not read Bitcrypto'ed aricle you are missing gems like :[TETHER T&C](https://tether.to/legal/)
In layman's terms: *By buying tether from us, you consider them store of value, and can trade them on exchanges with like-minded individuals. We, the creators of it, reserve the right to declare it worthless, and if we decide to do so, we have no legal obligations to anyone.* So from Crypto'eds articles, we can see that tether is being issued without proof there is a backing to it. The parent company is controlled by Bitfinex through shareholding, and can introduce new Tether into the system at will, avoiding an audit to make sure there are enough funds to cover the newly minted coin, all while declaring publicly that audits are regular and transparent. Have they done it already, and if so, why?
**3. The Big Picture** Remember the BFX token, used to transfer the debt to the entire user pool of Bitfinex? Remember how it was estimated it would take 7 years at least to break even and return the debt. And remember how it was done within a single year. Why is the tether story so important? Again we have to thank Bitcrypto'ed for providing the answer.

The debt was repaid using Tether, and creating it out of nothing made Wells Fargo reverse US dollar cash deposits, while this ban provided legitimacy for minting so much new coin, because after all, the cash was now flowing in through it. If all this wasn't enough, I have one last thing to share. It only took about 55 million tether to repay the debt, but as I stated previously, the total number in circulation as of today is 437,061,572 USDT. You can see the rate it was issued from the following chart, and I believe it was issued strategically, to slow down, and eventually reverse the downtrend in Bitcoin price. The largest sums were added over a period of a few days, numerous times, just as the price of bitcoin started reversing.
(open image in new tab) Why, would you pump up the price of Bitcoin, and try as hard as you can to keep it up. Well the answer is simple. If the prices start dropping, and people start running to the exits, suddenly realizing that Tether door is shut down(except for the few elite), it would start a chain reaction that would finally burst this bubble. And why not make trading fee profits while you still can, before vanishing with hefty profits.
I will focus on ICO's and altcoins in the next part. Until then, thank you for reading, please consider subscribing and resteeming. Ante |

"body": "[To read part one, click here.](https://steemit.com/ante/@botixx/part-one-in-which-we-find-the-price-history-of-bitcoin-could-predict-the-next-big-crash)\n\nWe will start our journey on August 2nd, 2016.\nBitfinex, the largest exchange by volume in the world, just got hacked. The perpetrator managed to steal 119,756 bitcoin, valued at almost $70 million, remaining unidentified to the present day. In response to the theft, Bitfinex distributed the loss among it's user base, reducing their accounts by 36% in order to compensate for the stolen bitcoin. Naturally, this was received poorly by the users who did not have their wallets emptied.\n\nThe management of the exchange decided not to declare bankruptcy, instead issuing tokens they would one day buy back, effectively reimbursing the stolen bitcoin, together with the 36% that was distributed among those who were unaffected by the hack. \n\nThus the BFX token was born, and started trading on the exchange. By the very creation of BFX tokens, Bitfinex transferred the liability of their debt onto their customers. It was valued at 1$ at the release time, but quickly lost value, as users didn't believe Bitfinex would be able to repay the debt. \n\nFollowing this chart, we can see the value of the token, during time it was in use. How convenient was it to have your debt almost halved weeks after it came into existence. This basically enabled them to buy off their debt at a discount, which they promised not to do. Promises, promises.\n\n\n\n\n\nAt those times, people looking into the exchange's revenue, calculated it would take 7 to 8 years to fully repay all the customers. They did it in 8 months, reclaiming the lost reputation, and becoming stronger than ever. Now, logic dictates that in order to repay a debt, you must repay it with something of value. This is where things get interesting and a bit complex.\n\n
\n\n**2. Introducing TETHER (USDT)**\n\nFor those of you who might not be familiar with it, Tether is a cryptocurrency linked to the US dollar. Basically, for every Tether in existence, there should be a US dollar on a bank account somewhere backing it. It currently has the fifth largest cap on *www.coinmarketcap.com*\n\n\n\n
\n\n\nBack in April, Wells Fargo reversed US dollar cash deposits designated for Bitfinex, who filed a lawsuit only to withdraw it a week later. You can read about it [here.](https://bitcoinira.com/articles/wells-fargo-bitfinex-war-escalates-bitfinex-shuts-fiat-deposits)\n\nIn turn, Bitfinex started accepting payments through its sister company Tether. By depositing a dollar to their bank account, you recieve one USDT (TETHER), which can then be traded on numerous exchanges. At the time of writing, the total supply of Tether is 437,061,572 USDT. But remember - for every tether, a dollar must be deposited as coverage. \n\n\nWhat really made me dig into this topic was an article on Medium by Bitcrypto'ed. \n\n\n
\nIf you for some reason did not read Bitcrypto'ed aricle you are missing gems like :[TETHER T&C](https://tether.to/legal/) \n
\n\n\nIn layman's terms:\n\n*By buying tether from us, you consider them store of value, and can trade them on exchanges with like-minded individuals. We, the creators of it, reserve the right to declare it worthless, and if we decide to do so, we have no legal obligations to anyone.*\n\n\nSo from Crypto'eds articles, we can see that tether is being issued without proof there is a backing to it. The parent company is controlled by Bitfinex through shareholding, and can introduce new Tether into the system at will, avoiding an audit to make sure there are enough funds to cover the newly minted coin, all while declaring publicly that audits are regular and transparent. Have they done it already, and if so, why?\n
\n\n\n**3. The Big Picture**\n\nRemember the BFX token, used to transfer the debt to the entire user pool of Bitfinex? Remember how it was estimated it would take 7 years at least to break even and return the debt. And remember how it was done within a single year. Why is the tether story so important? Again we have to thank Bitcrypto'ed for providing the answer.\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\nThe debt was repaid using Tether, and creating it out of nothing made Wells Fargo reverse US dollar cash deposits, while this ban provided legitimacy for minting so much new coin, because after all, the cash was now flowing in through it.\n\nIf all this wasn't enough, I have one last thing to share. It only took about 55 million tether to repay the debt, but as I stated previously, the total number in circulation as of today is 437,061,572 USDT. Well the answer is simple. If the prices start dropping, and people start running to the exits, suddenly realizing that Tether door is shut down(except for the few elite), it would start a chain reaction that would finally burst this bubble. \n\nAnd why not make trading fee profits while you still can, before vanishing with hefty profits. \n\n
\n\n\nI will focus on ICO's and altcoins in the next part. Until then, thank you for reading, please consider subscribing and resteeming. \n\nAnte",
