| body | I'm a little confused by this analysis. The founding members are certainly well educated, but their only credits are consulting (type not specified) and a Data analyst/due diligence analyst. No comment on their computer science background, or blockchain background. The author also points out that this coin sets itself up for speculation. I understood your words to imply the only utility value in this was for speculation, and that the real-world value would come in almost by accident (if it replaced Enigma). I can see how the Chinese market may engage with this coin, but it seemed like there are quite a few uncertainties to warrant so much support in the conclusion. Not trying to spread FUD, I just wasn't expecting a recommendation after the article. |

| title | Some basics on trading Crypto |
| body | I was asked to speak on TA + Crypto in one of my ‘Wolf Pack’ member’s Telegram channel + a Q&A session afterwards. This is all the writings compiled into one article. I didn’t plan any of this, just sort of went with whatever I could think of at the moment and covered the bare basics. Maybe I’ll add on to it in the future with more advanced sessions, but this is it for now. I hope you enjoy! I’m just winging this so I’d rather not be distracted halfway through a thought process. So to start things off, I’ll explain the basics of what TA is and why it is important. 1. TA stands for Technical Analysis. It is used to analyze the market’s history (and psychology) to predict what the future may hold. I personally believe that TA is even MORE important in Crypto than in regular Stocks. The reason for this is because Cryptocurrency is extremely young, compared to stocks / forex. Since the overall market cap is just a small fraction of the other markets, Crypto currency is a lot more susceptible to volatility + market swings . Anyways, since Crypto consists of such a small market cap and are so volatile, regular ‘mom & pop’ day traders have a lot more impact on the market than in Stocks and FX and A LOT of the traders coming into the crypto space are fairly new traders. They hear of it as the ‘hip’ thing that will make you lots of money (which is true) and start rushing to begin trading. You’ll see plenty of young 19 — early twenties traders playing in the markets. Needless to say, a lot of the traders don’t have experience and when they come into the markets one of the first things they will Google or are told to learn is TA. When you have a bunch of people learning the very basics of TA and their accumulated capital are the things that move a market, then expect the market to work EXTREMELY well with basic TA. As opposed to stocks where it is mostly dominated by institutional money and moves a lot slower than crypto due to it’s overall market cap. I have found that BASIC TA (Triangles, patterns, fib levels) is almost always more powerful than the more advanced stuff like Harmonics (Gartley / Butterfly patterns). I believe this is due to the fact that the large portion of new day-traders learn the basics and it works for them so they just stick to it. TA is supposed to be about understanding the mass’ psychology behind the markets, but with a market that is, for the most part, ‘simple’… then keeping it simple will turn out to be a lot more effective than throwing out advanced TA. That is why I personally ALWAYS use the basic stuff and try not to stray too far off into the more advanced TA indicators + patterns. ## So what are the basics of TA? 1. Trend Lines (Support, resistance level) 2. RSI (Relative Strength Index ( I prefer Stoch ) 3. Patterns (Flags, Double bottom/top, Head & shoulders, Wedges / pennants) If you can learn these basics and apply them correctly, I will tell you right now that you will become a winner in the market. So I’ll break down these basics further…. ## Trend lines: Trend lines are basically just lines that connect the highest-high points (ceiling / resistance) and the lowest-low points (support / floor). Example: When there is a new high and then a lower high afterwards, this becomes a new trend ceiling. Same goes for supports. Notice that every time it hits the point, it either bounces or shorts down. Once the 2 points intersect it will then create a breakout point. This is where “Bears & bulls” battle it and ‘bet’ on whether the market will go bullish (up) or bearish (down). There are many indicators that help with figuring out whether you should be a bull or bear: 1. Look at how strong the support / ceiling is. You can figure this out by seeing at how many points the price touches the ceiling or the support. If there are 7 ceiling hits and only 3 supports. Most likely it will break down instead up up. 2. Use other indicators such as RSI / Ichimoku Clouds. I personally prefer RSI. Ichimoku is also very powerful, but people use mixed settings which could throw off the support from other Ichimoku users. However, it is still very powerful and gives a lot of good signals. If you’d like to learn about RSI or Ichimoku, I recommend just YouTubing instructional videos. Investopedia.com is really good, but it can complicate things for the more novice user. On the note of trend lines / supports, a tip that I would like to give is to ZOOM OUT!!!!! You may be approaching a breakout point with, what may seem like, strong support, but this could be a false-indicator because there may be a strong ceiling point from months ago. One of the biggest mistakes I see on the markets is that people only analyze a small section / portion of the market and don’t take a step back to look at the WHOLE picture. This is how I called the ‘bear’ on Bitcoin back when it was 2500–2600. While everyone was looking at all the bullish indicators from the last month or so, I took the time to look at the 1-Week chart on Bitcoin which clearly showed that the price was far from the organic support. If you take a look @ this chart (Yep, thats right.. I went all the way back to $6.50 price) then you can clearly see that the previous run was high from the floor support and was due for a correction. This exact same trend support was shown on ALL of the exchanges. Compared to the previous bubble though, this one was NOTHING. A tiny bump on the chart. That is why there were so many people still bullish (including myself) because history tends to repeat itself. However, one needs to take into account the ‘catalyst’ as to why the previous bubble was so dramatic. Basically, BTC hit the mainstream for the FIRST time and institutional money flooded in. Unless there is a similar, epic, catalyst.. don’t expect for history to repeat itself and Bitcoin to rise up to 1 million dollars anytime soon. So anyways, lesson: Zoom out… ALL THE WAY if you have to. I’ll try to quicken this up since I’m making probably taking too much time. Anyways, another important thing to learn is patterns. **The basics are Flags, Pennants, H&S + wedges.** Flags are bullish indicators. They literally look like tiny little flags. Whenever there is a big spike from something like… a triangle breakout, then there will always be a point of consolidation. This big spike is the ‘pole’ the consolidation level is the actual flag. Example: This is an example of a bullish staircase, something that would be considered a healthy climb. It consists of multiple flags being posted on top of each other which builds the stairway to heaven. *Note: flags can also be a pole with a consolidation tunnel (instead of the triangle shape) however, these usually look like this when you either A) zoom in closer, or B) when it is a bigger flag / higher cap coin.* H&S (This one is an inverse / inverted H&S) are another basic pattern. The larger the H&S, the more likely it is to be a correct pattern. If you zoom in close, you’ll notice that a lot of the H&S tend to not stick. A H&S pattern is an indicator / signal that the market is changing trends. A regular H&S is bearish. The head would be the highest point and the right shoulder would indicate the turn to a bearish downtrend. An inverted H&S is the exact opposite, as seen recently with Bitcoin. (Also notice the flag on the top) Wedges are other reversal signs. They can be used within micro movements or longer term. I personally enjoy tracking them within tunnels for small day-trading short-sell movements. *Example: This is a micro wedge. You can see the market moving up and creating a wedge. If I were day-trading this, I would sell near the top of the wedge and buy in a little bit lower.* People commonly mistake wedges as a powerful trend reversal pattern. This is false, most of the time the drop would be fairly small. However, if you win a lot of these small bets, your compound gains will amount to A LOT. I tend to do this during bull-runs up so that I can accumulate more and more coins before I dump. A falling wedge is just the opposite of a rising wedge. It is a great way to buy in low on a position. All of these patterns will be posted ALL OVER the charts. Pattern traders are very common and I have found it to be extremely successful / useful / powerful. I am definitely a pattern trader. *hrmmmm… Been writing up a lot. Trying to see what more basics I could throw out that can be used for powerful returns* ## Some basic #Pro-tips: *1. DO NOT OVER-TRADE!!!! People lose a lot of money by going in and going out and in and out, blah blah blah. This is a MAJOR mistake by a lot of new traders. You need to have patience to play this game. We are in a bubble, so most of the time you’ll just have to wait 1–2 weeks to even see your money come back. If you can’t survive for 1–2 weeks without trading, then you need to stop throwing your entire paycheck / savings into Crypto. That is extremely dangerous.* *2. Keep up to date with news. Catalyst trading is some of the most profitable trades you can do…. but also some of the most dangerous. For example, if you predicated a catalyst happening BEFORE it hit the media, then you will win / save lots of money. I saw BTC locking in BIP191 Segwit when I saw it go up to 77% for the first time. However, once it (basically) confirmed, the media all covered it and we had a crazy rally up to current levels. If you’re ahead of the media, you will win. If you’re late, then take some time to step back and read all the indicators on the markets to see if the FOMO / FUD already took it’s course or of you’re still early to catch on.* *3. NEVER FOMO / FUD. It is always safer / better to bet in a market that you can read, than to just go in blindly and hope that everything will be ok. It is fairly hard to call the top of a catalyst rally, so if you’re late to the party, holding off until the consolidation period is, in my opinion, a very smart thing to do. Same with dumping. If you see that the market is dumping because of some FUD catalyst, hold back and wait for the bounce-back. The last thing you want to do is dump @ the bottom or buy @ the top. People always think that the best chance of getting the most profits is hitting the ‘tippity-top’ or the ‘very-bottom’. WRONG! It is a lot more profitable to slowly build compound gains that will make you more gains in the future, instead of trying to hit all of these tops & bottoms. Those are risky trades and suicidal hunts for ‘fools gold’. And make no mistake, there is ALWAYS a consolidation period and ALWAYS a bounce-back. Wait until one of those phases to buy/sell. The price will never go 0 to 100 in the matter of minutes. The markets move a lot slower than that.* *4. Never margin. Period.* Oh, Also! Learn how to read candles ***Some more tips:*** Before you try to become a wave-riding short-seller, learn to become a position trader first. This basically means that you place yourself in GREAT positions and just hodl until you are happy with your gains. People think that you have to be in EVERY up / down swing. You shouldn’t. In fact, you will most likely lose more by trying to ride the waves. They can be brutal, and unless you are willing to pay a lot of money to learn how to master it, I recommend that you don’t even attempt it ## Q & A *That is over-charting. I tend to not let trend lines break over candles, unless it is to display a new trend support / floor from a previous tunnel’s ceiling. Example:* *This is the only time I let trend lines break through candles. Otherwise, I would delete the line if the candle breaks through since the trend is no longer respected.* *** **Can you go into more detail about the logic/math behind putting money into alts to accumulate more bitcoin? I “get it” but its still a bit confusing.** *Altcoins are usually paired with BTC. BTC is paired with FIAT (USD, etc). The end-game goal is to gain more FIAT. With that being said, alts are always connected to FIAT through BTC. So if BTC goes up, but the price of alts stay the same (paired with BTC) then alts automatically go up in regards to FIAT. This is because smart $ accumulate alts at low price support points because they know that when the altcoin market does rally, they will double their gains by buying altcoins cheap.* *** **How/when do you know that a ‘high’ is a ‘high’ or a ‘low’ is a ‘low’? how long do u need for a price to bounce from it to be sure about it?** *When the candle closes out and the trend reverses, then that will solidify that point of being the bottom / top* *I recommend waiting at least a few candles before setting the trend lines. If you try to do it like RIGHT after, then you risk the chance of it being a ‘fake-out’* *** **You said that on this market TA works better because in crypto there are no institutional traders yet. Does it mean they don’t use TA?** *There are definitely institutional traders. Of course there is, however, a large portion of the market consists of regular day traders, a lot of them being ‘novices’… which is why I say the basics are so powerful in crypto.* *Especially for the smaller movements.* *** **How long are you in TA overall? Are you more profitable than buying/holding and if so then how much?** *I don’t believe in buying & hodling ‘forever’. Those are investors, not traders. I believe that one should realize their gains, especially in a new volatile market like crypto because you never know what may happen. For example, if someone bought BTC @ 2000 and it went up to 2700 and they didn’t take profits because, #HODLFOREVURR”…. then BTC hard forked… they would be fucked. On the other hand, they could have won a lot hodling vs trading if things went good and they didn’t have the experience trading.* *Beginner traders will MOST LIKELY make less than #HODLFOREVURR investors. It is known as ‘paying your tuition’. However, I believe that if a trader can stay afloat long enough to accumulate experience, then they will make more money, in the long run, than an investor.* *** **What % of TA would you say is correct? It seems that sometimes a chart can have multiple indicators confirming a down/up trend but then goes the opposite way?** *You will never be 100% correct on TA. TA just gives you data to make educated guesses. Mixed indicators are fairly common and that is when you look for even more indicators / signals to solidify your thoughts.* *** **So in a week average in a bull market how many trades do you do? You said over trading is not good so I just wanted to see how many you personally do over a week?** *It depends. I consider myself a fast- aggressive trader so I think I over-trade more than the average ‘successful’ trader. But I also started as a ‘fast paced’ trader moving around in the micro swings. However, my capital is now too big so I can’t move as smoothly as I used to in such small spaces. I would say 4–8 trades a week is relatively healthy.* *** **Assuming, you want to trade a particular altcoin against BTC. What are those basic stuff one need to considered in reading the chart???** *1. Always check the BTC price. If BTC rallys, the altcoin is most likely going to go down or stay stagnant. 2. The basics are all listed above.* *** **Your best top 3 TA tools are?** *1. Triangles 2. Patterns 3. RSI* *** **Wolf, how do you determine the buy zone?** *I like to buy @ the bottom / turn of RSI. When RSI is curving up on multiple time levels (1H, 30m, 15, etc) then that is a clear indicator of the market buying in.* *Which of the TA pattern can you advice to learn and master?* *1. Triangle, 2. Flags 3. H&S 4. Pennant / wedges. 5. Cup & Handle (Real ones, not ugly ones you see posted all over twitter) 6. Double tops / bottoms.* *I also recommend learning Elliot Waves.* *Those are fun.* *** **How long did it take you to get to the point that you could run an analysis, and then go to the mall knowing that your coins were fine? I might be the only one, but when I have a bigger bag, I tend to watch the market.** *I watch the markets all day, everyday (14–20 hour work days). But over time you build the experience to be comfortable enough to just let it be.* *** **So i totally don’t get it why u called it top on BTCUSD, last time it pumped so hard it didn’t stop that early** *Because the last time was a MAJOR catalyst. It was the first time institutional investors / the public / media has ever covered bitcoin to make it known.* *Bitcoin is now known, so it would need a catalyst of equal proportions to make it boom so high… which is unlikely.* *** **If you are expecting a certain market move (up, down, circles), how do you calculate how much time it would take for it to take place? Is it because of the chart timeframe you are using? for example if I’m looking at 1h chart then I should expect in the next “hours” ?** *I use tradingview.com. @ the bottom of the charts there is a timestamp, so I can calculate when / where the breakout will be.* *Getting a good position is like accumulating at a very low support or the coin coming up to a breakout position.* *** **How much weight do you place on volume?** *I only look at volume to see if a rally is fake or not. For example, if there is a big green flag pole posted, but the volume is low.. then it just indicates that the sales books was really thin. That could be a bull-trap so buying it during those periods can be risky.* *** **How do you determine your chart time frame for technical analysis** *I try to focus on the 1H candle charts. But I go as far back as I need to in order to get a clear picture of the market. I look @ 30M and 15M simply to see where the 1H trend is moving towards.* *** **What other source of learning would you suggest other than Investopedia? What do youthink about babypips?** *I’ve heard its good but I personally have never visited the website, www.chartschool.com is good too I’ve used that one.* *** **One last question that applies to the call on ETH. Can you quickly review your bear trap call and how you view it as a bullish play still? The traps seem more difficult to read.** *3 soldiers + RSI has been on floor for 30m and 1h. The hack FUD is fueling the bears, but I think it’ll bounce back up. **P.S. I changed my views after this training sessions. The market did go up a little bit, but it was quickly shot down due to strong Parity Hack FUD** *** **How do you use RSI to take entry and exit?** *If 15M + 30M + 1H RSI is all at the top/bottom and curving, + candles read as an reversal, then I enter / exit.* *** **When you are drawing lines do you try to draw it top/bottom of candles or is it ok if some spikes crosses your trend line?** *If there are lots of wics showing, I’ll sometimes draw multiple lines to connect and see every possible scenario. As far as spikes breaking through, so long as it isn’t a very pronounced break, I’ll leave it as a fake-out.* *** **I don’t want to sound condescending but I’m curious to know how much of your gains could be attributed to sheer luck in a volatile market like crypto? Obv your TA skills are :ok_hand: in addition how much do whales manipulate the market that novices don’t understand?** *Whales manipulation is definitely real. However you need to learn their tactics so that you can avoid falling prey to them. Most of their traps are placed when you look really close. For example, large sale / scare walls to keep buyers at bay or to scare people into dumping so that their buy orders get filled or so that they can drive the price down to buy in cheaper. I have done this myself, and you can too. You only need about 100K to to make some decently scary / supportive walls. If you play a large stack on top of someone else’s large order, it’ll make it even stronger. I do this a lot on GDAX to move the markets when I’m day trading.”* *** Welp, that basically covered it. Had to cut the sessions due to my daughter being hungry. Maybe I’ll release some more educational info next week…. and maybe I’ll actually prepare beforehand, haha. Cheers! "body": "\n\nI was asked to speak on TA + Crypto in one of my ‘Wolf Pack’ member’s Telegram channel + a Q&A session afterwards. This is all the writings compiled into one article. I didn’t plan any of this, just sort of went with whatever I could think of at the moment and covered the bare basics. Maybe I’ll add on to it in the future with more advanced sessions, but this is it for now. I hope you enjoy!\n\nI’m just winging this so I’d rather not be distracted halfway through a thought process. So to start things off, I’ll explain the basics of what TA is and why it is important.\n\n1. TA stands for Technical Analysis. It is used to analyze the market’s history (and psychology) to predict what the future may hold.\n\nI personally believe that TA is even MORE important in Crypto than in regular Stocks.\n\nThe reason for this is because Cryptocurrency is extremely young, compared to stocks / forex.\n\nSince the overall market cap is just a small fraction of the other markets, Crypto currency is a lot more susceptible to volatility + market swings .\n\nAnyways, since Crypto consists of such a small market cap and are so volatile, regular ‘mom & pop’ day traders have a lot more impact on the market than in Stocks and FX and A LOT of the traders coming into the crypto space are fairly new traders. They hear of it as the ‘hip’ thing that will make you lots of money (which is true) and start rushing to begin trading. You’ll see plenty of young 19 — early twenties traders playing in the markets. Needless to say, a lot of the traders don’t have experience and when they come into the markets one of the first things they will Google or are told to learn is TA.\n\nWhen you have a bunch of people learning the very basics of TA and their accumulated capital are the things that move a market, then expect the market to work EXTREMELY well with basic TA.\n\nAs opposed to stocks where it is mostly dominated by institutional money and moves a lot slower than crypto due to it’s overall market cap.\n\nI have found that BASIC TA (Triangles, patterns, fib levels) is almost always more powerful than the more advanced stuff like Harmonics (Gartley / Butterfly patterns). Learn how to read candles\n\n\n\n***Some more tips:***\n\nBefore you try to become a wave-riding short-seller, learn to become a position trader first. This basically means that you place yourself in GREAT positions and just hodl until you are happy with your gains. People think that you have to be in EVERY up / down swing. You shouldn’t. In fact, you will most likely lose more by trying to ride the waves. They can be brutal, and unless you are willing to pay a lot of money to learn how to master it, I recommend that you don’t even attempt it\n\n## Q & A\n\n\n\n*That is over-charting. I tend to not let trend lines break over candles, unless it is to display a new trend support / floor from a previous tunnel’s ceiling. Example:*\n\n\n\n*This is the only time I let trend lines break through candles. Otherwise, I would delete the line if the candle breaks through since the trend is no longer respected.*\n***\n**Can you go into more detail about the logic/math behind putting money into alts to accumulate more bitcoin? I “get it” but its still a bit confusing.**\n\n*Altcoins are usually paired with BTC. This is because smart $ accumulate alts at low price support points because they know that when the altcoin market does rally, they will double their gains by buying altcoins cheap.*\n***\n**How/when do you know that a ‘high’ is a ‘high’ or a ‘low’ is a ‘low’? how long do u need for a price to bounce from it to be sure about it?**\n\n*When the candle closes out and the trend reverses, then that will solidify that point of being the bottom / top*\n\n*I recommend waiting at least a few candles before setting the trend lines. If you try to do it like RIGHT after, then you risk the chance of it being a ‘fake-out’*\n***\n**You said that on this market TA works better because in crypto there are no institutional traders yet. Does it mean they don’t use TA?**\n\n*There are definitely institutional traders. Of course there is, however, a large portion of the market consists of regular day traders, a lot of them being ‘novices’… which is why I say the basics are so powerful in crypto.*\n\n*Especially for the smaller movements.*\n***\n**How long are you in TA overall? Are you more profitable than buying/holding and if so then how much?**\n\n*I don’t believe in buying & hodling ‘forever’. On the other hand, they could have won a lot hodling vs trading if things went good and they didn’t have the experience trading.*\n\n*Beginner traders will MOST LIKELY make less than #HODLFOREVURR investors. It is known as ‘paying your tuition’. However, I believe that if a trader can stay afloat long enough to accumulate experience, then they will make more money, in the long run, than an investor.*\n***\n**What % of TA would you say is correct? It seems that sometimes a chart can have multiple indicators confirming a down/up trend but then goes the opposite way?**\n\n*You will never be 100% correct on TA. TA just gives you data to make educated guesses. Mixed indicators are fairly common and that is when you look for even more indicators / signals to solidify your thoughts.*\n***\n**So in a week average in a bull market how many trades do you do? You said over trading is not good so I just wanted to see how many you personally do over a week?**\n\n*It depends. I consider myself a fast- aggressive trader so I think I over-trade more than the average ‘successful’ trader. But I also started as a ‘fast paced’ trader moving around in the micro swings. However, my capital is now too big so I can’t move as smoothly as I used to in such small spaces. I would say 4–8 trades a week is relatively healthy.*\n***\n**Assuming, you want to trade a particular altcoin against BTC. \nWhat are those basic stuff one need to considered in reading the chart???**\n\n*1. Always check the BTC price. If BTC rallys, the altcoin is most likely going to go down or stay stagnant.\n2. The basics are all listed above.*\n***\n**Your best top 3 TA tools are?**\n\n*1. Triangles\n2. Patterns\n3. RSI*\n***\n**Wolf, how do you determine the buy zone?**\n\n*I like to buy @ the bottom / turn of RSI. When RSI is curving up on multiple time levels (1H, 30m, 15, etc) then that is a clear indicator of the market buying in.*\n\n*Which of the TA pattern can you advice to learn and master?*\n\n*1. Triangle,\n2. Flags\n3. H&S\n4. Pennant / wedges.\n5. Cup & Handle (Real ones, not ugly ones you see posted all over twitter)\n6. Double tops / bottoms.*\n\n*I also recommend learning Elliot Waves.*\n\n*Those are fun.*\n***\n**How long did it take you to get to the point that you could run an analysis, and then go to the mall knowing that your coins were fine? I might be the only one, but when I have a bigger bag, I tend to watch the market.**\n\n*I watch the markets all day, everyday (14–20 hour work days). But over time you build the experience to be comfortable enough to just let it be.*\n\n\n***\n**So i totally don’t get it why u called it top on BTCUSD, last time it pumped so hard it didn’t stop that early**\n\n*Because the last time was a MAJOR catalyst. It was the first time institutional investors / the public / media has ever covered bitcoin to make it known.*\n\n*Bitcoin is now known, so it would need a catalyst of equal proportions to make it boom so high… which is unlikely.*\n***\n**If you are expecting a certain market move (up, down, circles), how do you calculate how much time it would take for it to take place? Is it because of the chart timeframe you are using? for example if I’m looking at 1h chart then I should expect in the next “hours” ?**\n\n*I use tradingview.com. @ the bottom of the charts there is a timestamp, so I can calculate when / where the breakout will be.*\n\n*Getting a good position is like accumulating at a very low support or the coin coming up to a breakout position.*\n***\n**How much weight do you place on volume?**\n\n*I only look at volume to see if a rally is fake or not. For example, if there is a big green flag pole posted, but the volume is low.. then it just indicates that the sales books was really thin. That could be a bull-trap so buying it during those periods can be risky.*\n***\n**How do you determine your chart time frame for technical analysis**\n\n*I try to focus on the 1H candle charts. But I go as far back as I need to in order to get a clear picture of the market. I look @ 30M and 15M simply to see where the 1H trend is moving towards.*\n***\n**What other source of learning would you suggest other than Investopedia? What do youthink about babypips?**\n\n*I’ve heard its good but I personally have never visited the website, www.chartschool.com is good too\nI’ve used that one.*\n***\n**One last question that applies to the call on ETH. Can you quickly review your bear trap call and how you view it as a bullish play still? The traps seem more difficult to read.**\n\n\n\n*3 soldiers + RSI has been on floor for 30m and 1h. The hack FUD is fueling the bears, but I think it’ll bounce back up. **P.S. I changed my views after this training sessions. The market did go up a little bit, but it was quickly shot down due to strong Parity Hack FUD**\n***\n**How do you use RSI to take entry and exit?**\n\n*If 15M + 30M + 1H RSI is all at the top/bottom and curving, + candles read as an reversal, then I enter / exit.*\n***\n**When you are drawing lines do you try to draw it top/bottom of candles or is it ok if some spikes crosses your trend line?**\n\n*If there are lots of wics showing, I’ll sometimes draw multiple lines to connect and see every possible scenario. As far as spikes breaking through, so long as it isn’t a very pronounced break, I’ll leave it as a fake-out.*\n***\n**I don’t want to sound condescending but I’m curious to know how much of your gains could be attributed to sheer luck in a volatile market like crypto? Obv your TA skills are :ok_hand: in addition how much do whales manipulate the market that novices don’t understand?**\n\n*Whales manipulation is definitely real. I do this a lot on GDAX to move the markets when I’m day trading.”*\n\n***\n\nWelp, that basically covered it. Had to cut the sessions due to my daughter being hungry. Maybe I’ll release some more educational info next week…. and maybe I’ll actually prepare beforehand, haha.\n\nCheers!\n\nRespectfully,\n\nThe Wolf\n\nhttps://twitter.com/WolfOfPoloniex\nSource (https://medium.com/@PoloniexWolf/some-basics-on-trading-crypto-fb74572ca9de)\n\nEdite and Update by https://steemit.com/@bodyperfection",

| title | ICO Analysis: Real.markets (REAL) |
| body | Cryptocurrency projects which seek to tokenize real assets are going to run into the problem of rights enforcement. Operating outside of the long arm of the law means you don’t always have full access to its useful aspects, either, and so fraud may ensue. This is a drawback for all crypto assets which try to bridge the divide between the digital and the real. So while we must be cognizant of that, we don’t want to miss out on good opportunities, either. Real.markets notes in their whitepaper that current real estate investment schemes are rife with inefficiencies, but the truth of the matter is that the same can be said for many blockchain designs and implementations. Nevertheless, no points off for trying to present yourself as the solution to the alleged problem. Real estate does remain a great long-term investment, location dependent, of course. There are places you could have invested in 10 years ago for much more than you can buy or sell them for today. It’s all relative, and a truly revolutionary product would work on cutting through the misinformation about things. According to a report from Forbes earlier in the year, the following are true of real estate: * Home prices will slowly rise. * Mortgage market will make ownership harder to attain, so those who already own will be better positioned. * Upcoming generations may have better credit opportunities. A full-fledged, down-to-the-splinter-of-wood inspection of the property in question, with a copious amount of photographs to complement it, that would be the kind of thing the masses would flock to. Especially if that were only one feature of such a platform. When such a thing arises, we’ll certainly be interested in what its token might be able to do for us. But let’s see what we’re offered in Real.markets. > **Real Estate has been historically considered the best way to preserve wealth. However, Real Estate investments today present significant inefficiencies such as lack of efficiency and liquidity. […] REAL (Real Estate Asset Ledger) team is applying Blockchain technologies to the world of Real Estate investments in order to solve those issues. REAL is an Ethereum Smart-Contracts governed ecosystem that focuses on creating the best conditions for Real Estate investment eliminating costs due to unnecessary intermediaries, providing transparency and liquidity, alleviating tax inefficiencies and easing cross-border transactions under a unified crowdfunding platform.** REAL (Real Estate Asset Ledger) is a new Ethereum Smart-Contracts governed ecosystem that applies Blockchain technologies to the enormous Real Estate investment industry, giving greater access to global investment in Real Estate, lowering barriers to entry, and increasing market liquidity. […] It will offer an effective method of investing and securing the value of the existing +100 Billion USD equivalent in cryptocurrency into the less volatile and growing Real Estate market by generating rental income and value appreciation. […] REAL Founders have invested USD 350.000 in the company […] So far it’s all still a bit too vague. It would seem sensible to stop reading the thing, if it were the author’s money. You should be able to tell me what you want to do with my money within the first couple of sentences. Just tell me what you want, and what I get, and we can play ball. If we agree there is a problem, let’s solve it together. We’ll both profit. But this is not how many ICOs are approaching business. Instead, things must be a bit confusing. Several pages pass. We still don’t know what we’re actually getting into. Just “blockchain applied to real estate.” On page 5, we get the meat of the thing, and probably the main problem. > **On our Crowdfunding site, users will be able to exchange REAL Tokens for economic rights of a property and will be backed by physical Real Estate. Our users will also be able to trade their investments at our platform, turning Real Estate investments into liquid investments.** Full stop, we can see a problem with this. You’re just some people with a tech company. You’re not a government with guns you can use to enforce anything at all. Even if you have wizardry in the technical sense, you’re going to need banks on board. That’s going to take time and money. “Rights enforcement” is a red herring like no other. It’s not something the author wants his money in, nor does he think many want to try their hand at that. In fact, it’s probably not something private entities should overtly try playing around with at this point in time. It relies on government acquiescence to essentially non-regulated markets, and agreement to enforce rights contracts drawn up on the same. On page 6, we learn that: > **REAL will earn a 10% commission fee on all income or value appreciation profits from investments made through the platform. For example, if a property participation generates 100 ETH in profits, REAL platform will keep 10 ETH and pay 90 ETH to the investor.** One has to wonder if existing real estate investment firms, which have none of the problems of actual enforcement that REAL will face, cannot simply do better than 10%. People are free to invest their dividends into cryptocurrency if they want to, after all. It may be that this product is too early, or just not serious enough to get the job done. One way or another, this whole risk of “rights enforcement” is just too large to give a pass. One cannot simply overlook such a thing. ## REAL Token Hard to believe at this stage of the ICO boom we’re being presented with such low quality offerings, but here we are: > **Real Tokens are a digital representation of a participation entry ticket for our crowdfunding site. They are divisible until 0.000000000000000001 REAL (1/1.000.000.000.000.000.000 REAL). Real Tokens are minted via a Token Sale Smart Contract and can be held in any Ethereum ERC20 compatible Wallet.** The old “spread the risk among millions and millions of people are just a little exposed” idea. The one that tanked the global economy by putting toxic assets in with okay assets. From a traditional perspective, literally nothing that could be offered on Real.markets will actually be far from toxic. When not toxic, they still carry an element of danger. If you need a real estate play in the cryptosphere, Rex at least has the rational idea of disrupting the listings racket. **That is something that doesn’t interfere with the government’s ongoing dominance in various parts of people’s lives.** > **REAL Tokens will be tradable outside REAL platform, as they are an ERC20 Token so they will have an inherent value in the exchanges. Users will also be able to use REAL Tokens for acquiring real estate economic participations at our crowdfunding platform.** This author has never seen a weaker value proposition. We don’t even need to look at their “stellar team” to know this is a load of bad investment in ICO clothing. ## REAL Verdict Nope, nope, nope. Checks all the boxes for ill-prepared, ill-informed, and likely to fail. “Inherent value” at exchanges? Indeed, of precisely next to nothing. If people are going to begin using platforms to swap property, one suspects that some of the old school big boys will get in on the action and simply blockchain their current business. There are plenty of Wall Street firms thirsty, looking at the cryptocurrency boom with envy. We recommend serious caution for any ICO that proports to “enforce rights.” **Make no mistake, if rights are enforced, it is done by the government. And cryptocurrencies are simply not suited for the functions of government, at present time, although by design they can eventually be so.** ## Risk * Scammer’s paradise. -4 * Questionable token value, massive supply. -4 ## Growth Potential * Disruption of property will be big. +3 * Hype around this ICO is huge. +3 * Despite their disconnect with the reality of “rights enforcement,” the team seem to have done a good job building significant momentum. +3 * They are running their ICO through Bitcoin Suisse and have contracted with some significant advisors. While this does not inspire extreme confidence in the actual idea, it does mean that the token is a bit better for speculating on. +2 ## Disposition **We are giving Real.markets a 4.0 based on our current outlook on such tokenization schemes.** We believe they are ill-fated unless they find more interesting ways of “enforcing rights.” Until that is up front and obvious, we have to assess that these things are probably low-performers where both short and long-term where our readers could be earning real returns elsewhere. We will of course return to the matter when some of these tokenized asset ICOs have been on the market awhile, assessing the best performers at that point, if there are any, and modifying our ratings for the purpose. ## Investment Details **Investment begins August 31st.** Visit https://www.real.markets/ and follow directions carefully. Be sure to research “real.markets scam” around that time to avoid any scams that may arise, as well, and make all decisions for yourself. "body": "\n\nCryptocurrency projects which seek to tokenize real assets are going to run into the problem of rights enforcement. Operating outside of the long arm of the law means you don’t always have full access to its useful aspects, either, and so fraud may ensue. This is a drawback for all crypto assets which try to bridge the divide between the digital and the real. So while we must be cognizant of that, we don’t want to miss out on good opportunities, either.\n\nReal.markets notes in their whitepaper that current real estate investment schemes are rife with inefficiencies, but the truth of the matter is that the same can be said for many blockchain designs and implementations. Nevertheless, no points off for trying to present yourself as the solution to the alleged problem.\n\nReal estate does remain a great long-term investment, location dependent, of course. There are places you could have invested in 10 years ago for much more than you can buy or sell them for today. It’s all relative, and a truly revolutionary product would work on cutting through the misinformation about things. According to a report from Forbes earlier in the year, the following are true of real estate:\n\n* Home prices will slowly rise.\n\n* Mortgage market will make ownership harder to attain, so those who already own will be better positioned.\n\n* Upcoming generations may have better credit opportunities.\n\nA full-fledged, down-to-the-splinter-of-wood inspection of the property in question, with a copious amount of photographs to complement it, that would be the kind of thing the masses would flock to. Especially if that were only one feature of such a platform. When such a thing arises, we’ll certainly be interested in what its token might be able to do for us.\n\nBut let’s see what we’re offered in Real.markets.\n\n> **Real Estate has been historically considered the best way to preserve wealth. However, Real Estate investments today present significant inefficiencies such as lack of efficiency and liquidity. […] REAL (Real Estate Asset Ledger) team is applying Blockchain technologies to the world of Real Estate investments in order to solve those issues. REAL is an Ethereum Smart-Contracts governed ecosystem that focuses on creating the best conditions for Real Estate investment eliminating costs due to unnecessary intermediaries, providing transparency and liquidity, alleviating tax inefficiencies and easing cross-border transactions under a unified crowdfunding platform.**\n\nREAL (Real Estate Asset Ledger) is a new Ethereum Smart-Contracts governed ecosystem that applies Blockchain technologies to the enormous Real Estate investment industry, giving greater access to global investment in Real Estate, lowering barriers to entry, and increasing market liquidity. […] It will offer an effective method of investing and securing the value of the existing +100 Billion USD equivalent in cryptocurrency into the less volatile and growing Real Estate market by generating rental income and value appreciation. […] REAL Founders have invested USD 350.000 in the company […]\n\nSo far it’s all still a bit too vague. Instead, things must be a bit confusing.\n\nSeveral pages pass. We still don’t know what we’re actually getting into. Just “blockchain applied to real estate.” On page 5, we get the meat of the thing, and probably the main problem.\n\n> **On our Crowdfunding site, users will be able to exchange REAL Tokens for economic rights of a property and will be backed by physical Real Estate. Our users will also be able to trade their investments at our platform, turning Real Estate investments into liquid investments.**\n\nFull stop, we can see a problem with this. | title | ICO Analysis: Stox (STX) |
| body | Stox is based on the premise that the primary reason prediction markets have not been fully adopted is that they are both overly regulated and hard to maintain in centralized settings. By using the blockchain for their project, then, the assertion is that both of these problems will be solved and therefore prediction markets should pick up. In their own words: > **Stox is an open source, Ethereum based platform for prediction markets where people can trade the outcome of events in almost any imaginable category – sports, celebrity marriages, election results and even the weather. The platform targets mainstream audiences and provides a haven for investors to find refuge from traditional financial instruments and participate in prediction events with the purpose of making profit, leveraging their knowledge in almost any imaginable field.** On the face, a quick and obvious question arises: why does something like this need crowdfunding? Why not just launch and offer the product, and if you want to offer people a chance to invest in the platform, do that separately from the operation? After all, if you build a mechanism for trustless bets on prediction markets, then all you have to do is ensure that there is a requisite fee for using it, and you will derive revenues. What does Stox intend to do with the funds raised? This is the first question that arises. The second is whether or not regulation and centralization are really the barrier to prediction markets being adopted. After all, several such markets do exist, and they’re popular enough. But could it also be that this form of “investing” is just too close to gambling for most people who consider themselves investors? This could, indeed, be the reality, and if it were, then there is an immediate consequence for Stox: it becomes just another prediction market. It is also far from the first cryptocurrency-based prediction market, with several existing in the market including Predictious, Fairlay, and, of course, Augur. Thus we’ll have to determine, really, if Stox is bringing anything new to the table. ## Stox Overview The first interesting note about Stox is that it uses the Bancor protocol in its design to maintain liquidity. One aspect this adds to the Stox token is that its supply will be elastic, based on market maker demands which are influenced by their Bancor reserves. Market makers are participants in the Stox ecosystem who create the events and secure the necessary liquidity to ensure them. The backers of Stox, invest.com (more in the next section), will act as the first market makers. > **Event operators are required to provide a collateral in STX which is locked in a smart contract for 24 hours past event resolution. The collateral amount should be proportional to the amount of STX placed on all outcomes.** The types of participants in the Stox ecosystem are as follows: * Providers, who bring participants into events through existing or new platforms built on Stox. They can rebrand the Stox app or use the original to bring people on board. * Operators, who act as both market makers and event creators, as well as find reputable oracles to determine odds for events. The way it works is simple enough. An operator provides the liquidity to cover the event using a Bancor smart contract, which is defined in the above quotation, then finds a reputable oracle to provide odds for the event, then offers the event on the Stox platform. Stox holders are then free to place wagers on the event. The event can be a sporting match, political contest, or any other future event. Unlike regular sports books, prediction markets require many different types of expertise to determine odds, and it’s entirely possible for two makers to offer the same event at different odds. ## Stox Token Details The initial STX offered on the platform will be generated by the Stox company itself. Future Stox supply will be dynamic, based on Bancor smart contracts that are made by operators. In essence, the total market capitalization of STX will be in relation to the amount of Bancor staked to the network, and the total number of STX will be relational to that. 4% of the total STX contract will be represented in Bancor, so it would seem that if there are 4000 BNTs, there can be 96,000 STX, and so forth. This situation will mean that the token can be relatively volatile for investors as events happen and money changes hands – which could be a big plus. The initial rate for an STX is .005 Ethereum each, where the current price of BNT is over .008. This price seems high considering the important role that BNT will play in the economy. ## Stox Team Stox is primarily the motivation of people from Invest.com, a top-tier trading website which manages portfolios and facilitates trades for people. Last year, invest.com had $50 million in revenue. They opened shop in 2014. Stox Ltd, which is based in Gibraltar, is a related effort. Given the success of their previous venture and their intimate relation to financial technology, we see no reason to investigate the team much further. They are definitely competent enough to achieve the goal, it’s just a matter of whether or not the goal is really something investors need at this point, or whether it’s worth buying in at this price, anyway. ## The Verdict The liquidity model of Stox is very confusing and confusing typically means bad. We note that Bancor tokens are not incredibly valuable on their own, but they are being used as the ultimate settlement currency. Bancor itself has a number of mechanisms in place which are intended to float value high in more volatile times. We take all this into consideration and still can give it to no more than one positive point for the effort at guaranteeing people can enter and exit routinely. ## Risk We note Stox’ own assessment of competing interests and assert that they are underestimating the potential of being lost in the noise. While they are building a platform which they believe they should be able to more successfully leverage through creating partnerships and the like, they are still entering an already thriving marketplace with lots of brand loyalty and the like. Because of this, we deduct 0.5 points. ## Growth Potential The success of the Gnosis ICO was incredible, and no one wants to miss out on the second version of that. The hype bubble will expand around Stox, and people will want in. This will present early opportunities to capitalize on ICO prices. However, .005 is a high price for entry considering the value of Bancor – in effect, if Stox really succeeds, it will itself raise the value of BNT perhaps as much as it does its own. We grant 5 points for the potential of another GNO. The ability to white label the application by other firms will hopefully lead to expansion and decentralization. We grant another point based on this. ## Disposition **If you weren’t keeping track, our score is: 1 – .5 + 5 + 1 = 6.5. ** Source (https://hacked.com/ico-analysis-stox-stx/) > **Author: P. H. It is also far from the first cryptocurrency-based prediction market, with several existing in the market including Predictious, Fairlay, and, of course, Augur.\n\nThus we’ll have to determine, really, if Stox is bringing anything new to the table.\n\n## Stox Overview\n\nThe first interesting note about Stox is that it uses the Bancor protocol in its design to maintain liquidity. One aspect this adds to the Stox token is that its supply will be elastic, based on market maker demands which are influenced by their Bancor reserves. Market makers are participants in the Stox ecosystem who create the events and secure the necessary liquidity to ensure them. The backers of Stox, invest.com (more in the next section), will act as the first market makers.\n\n> **Event operators are required to provide a collateral in STX which is locked in a smart contract for 24 hours past event resolution. The collateral amount should be proportional to the amount of STX placed on all outcomes.**\n\nThe types of participants in the Stox ecosystem are as follows:\n\n\n * Providers, who bring participants into events through existing or new platforms built on Stox. They can rebrand the Stox app or use the original to bring people on board.\n\n* Operators, who act as both market makers and event creators, as well as find reputable oracles to determine odds for events.\n\nThe way it works is simple enough. Unlike regular sports books, prediction markets require many different types of expertise to determine odds, and it’s entirely possible for two makers to offer the same event at different odds.\n\n## Stox Token Details\n\nThe initial STX offered on the platform will be generated by the Stox company itself. This price seems high considering the important role that BNT will play in the economy.\n\n## Stox Team\n\nStox is primarily the motivation of people from Invest.com, a top-tier trading website which manages portfolios and facilitates trades for people. Last year, invest.com had $50 million in revenue. They opened shop in 2014. Stox Ltd, which is based in Gibraltar, is a related effort. Given the success of their previous venture and their intimate relation to financial technology, we see no reason to investigate the team much further. They are definitely competent enough to achieve the goal, it’s just a matter of whether or not the goal is really something investors need at this point, or whether it’s worth buying in at this price, anyway.\n\n## The Verdict\n\nThe liquidity model of Stox is very confusing and confusing typically means bad. We note that Bancor tokens are not incredibly valuable on their own, but they are being used as the ultimate settlement currency. Bancor itself has a number of mechanisms in place which are intended to float value high in more volatile times. We take all this into consideration and still can give it to no more than one positive point for the effort at guaranteeing people can enter and exit routinely.\n\n## Risk\n\nWe note Stox’ own assessment of competing interests and assert that they are underestimating the potential of being lost in the noise. While they are building a platform which they believe they should be able to more successfully leverage through creating partnerships and the like, they are still entering an already thriving marketplace with lots of brand loyalty and the like. Because of this, we deduct 0.5 points.\n\n## Growth Potential\n\nThe success of the Gnosis ICO was incredible, and no one wants to miss out on the second version of that. We grant 5 points for the potential of another GNO.\n\nThe ability to white label the application by other firms will hopefully lead to expansion and decentralization. We grant another point based on this.\n\n## Disposition\n\n**If you weren’t keeping track, our score is: 1 – .5 + 5 + 1 = 6.5. **\n\nSource (https://hacked.com/ico-analysis-stox-stx/)\n\n> **Author: P. | title | ICO Analysis: Enigma |
| body | **Let’s be up front: Enigma’s team is more likely a problem than not. Read: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/hacker-nets-over-500000-after-hacking-enigma-before-its-ico-date/** > **While trying to know more about the incident and help other users know about it, redditors found out that Enigma CEO Guy Zyskind’s email had been accessed by the hacker. His email, according to reports, had been dumped on the internet in the past due to other services being compromised. After these occurrences, Zyskind reportedly never changes his password, and no two-factor authentication was enabled.** This is front-loaded for obvious reasons. Due to very simple measures that could have been taken, potential investors have already had their hopes dashed and money taken. This incident, no matter how many ICO publications or analysts give Enigma a high rating and a pass, will affect the funding for Enigma. Whosoever wishes to can simply start campaigning with the hacked information around the beginning of the sale, to remind everyone, erstwhile launching a separate implementation of the same platform. ## That out of the way, what is Enigma? > **Enigma is designed to connect to an existing blockchain and off-load private and intensive computations to an off-chain network. All transactions are facilitated by the blockchain, which enforces access-control based on digital signatures and programmable permissions.** Does this remind you of anything? Oh, perhaps, the Supercomputer Organized by Mining (SONM)? If so, good. Because from a high-level, the services of this kind offered are indistinguishable, but SONM lacks any of the aforementioned intrigues. Enigma is also intended to be used as a data marketplace, which is what we’re here to talk about, really: > **Off-chain nodes construct a distributed database. Each node has a distinct view of shares and encrypted data so that the computation process is guaranteed to be privacy-preserving and fault tolerant. It is also possible to store large public data (e.g., files) unencrypted and link them to the blockchain.** ## Okay, what about Catalyst? **Make no mistake. Things are intentionally confusing and complex in the ICO market. Often, if someone feels humbled, they will give their money over in the belief that the other party will know better what to do with it.** In any case, Catalyst is, among other things, another play in the market information space. Our upcoming review of Red Pulse will illustrate yet another example of this type of product being launched, but here is a very succinct description of Catalyst: > **[…] A tool that makes it easier to make educated investment decisions in crypto-assets, based on a data-driven approach. Catalyst is a set of applications and the infrastructure to drive better investment strategies, hence increasing the adoption of crypto-assets.** It is also the “first application on the Enigma protocol.” The Enigma protocol uses the ENG token. All of this is being launched simultaneously, we understand. Assuming the Enigma data marketplace takes off, what we are being presented is a platform that will allow people to build highly-informed trading bots among other applications that rely on real-time information. The data will not be free, it will be paid for in ENG tokens. This is the idea. Not just bots, but anything. We signed up to see what it looks like. After some doing, we got the test bot running. Its algorithm is the buy and hold strategy, and it it outputs the following on the host computer: We can see how this will come in handy, for many different applications, across industries. Financial markets may be the first to embrace and adopt, but others will follow if the snowball begins rolling. It’s not hard to imagine, if the data is available and affordable, many advanced real-time data consumption applications being developed atop the protocol. > **Over-time, it is our hope that the long-tail of data-sets curated by the community would outpace our own ability to generate interesting data. Such a network effect would be highly beneficial to developers using our platform.** So the value proposition is that great applications will have immediate access to quality, verifiable data for many purposes. Financial applications will obviously be the most growth-producing. Now let’s see what we can derive about the token itself. ## ENG Token We won’t talk about the pre-sale that is supposed to be on-going, because we do not want anyone eager to shoot themselves in the foot to go ahead and do so. It will be difficult for anyone to trust a “new presale” announcement, so any such would be a bad metric by which to measure the performance of the funding round. So we will talk about the actual ICO token generation event, which begins on 9/11/2017 and will yield 100 million tokens, 25 million of which the Enigma firm will retain for its own purposes, another 25 million of which will be **given away**, and 50 million of which will be available for purchase. The tokens value will be in incentivizing and paying for data on the platform. Thus, we have a three-level system here – the data market is the bottom layer, Catalyst is the second, and on Catalyst other applications depend in order to provide utility. The last part is crucial to success, and the volume of projects which crop up in that category is a good way to measure the health of the project. ## Competitors In The Field Are Active & Possibly Quite Superior We will be reviewing Red Pulse very soon, but if you have a look at their website, it’s not hard to extrapolate that they could pretty easily expand their own platform to fully encompass everything that Enigma is up to. With all due respect to the actually brilliant authors of the Enigma whitepaper and the company, Enigma might not be the best play in this field. Having your e-mail hacked is potentially forgivable, but less so when it was quite avoidable. Being MIT graduates and technically-minded individuals, **that this took place gives rise to the quiet suspicion of a pre-sale scam conducted from inside.** ## The Verdict This will be one of the longer verdicts this analyst enters, so that it is fully understood why he is concluding rather divergently from others in his field. For starters, we have to consider all the angles that are introduced when a pre-sale theft/hack occurs. It’s not relevant how guilty the team are, unless they were complicit, but the perception that they are guilty of bad security is prevalent. In our own Hacked.com community, more than one regular ICO investor has already stated there is no coming back from this. We have to account for pessimism and its ability to take an in-progress funding round to an eventual refund round. ## Risk * The team were not prepared to start this project. Calling yourself “an MIT-bred team of experts, backed by top-tier investors,” MIT being the birthplace of hacking and one of the leading genius incubators in the world, was essentially daring hackers to see what they could see. They would have been targeted anyway, but some preparedness could have gone a long way. All of the above firmly in mind, we score Enigma a 0 in terms of team quality. Under the current model, this means a negative carry of 4 points. Off the top. * Building on the above point, it will be difficult to get developers or companies excited to work with a company that already has horrible optics in the technosphere. Without these applications, you have nothing here. -2 * In the event that applications are built, they will need data. Again, the reputation is going to make this a less attractive place to collate and sell data than others. -1 ## Growth Potential * This analyst is cautious to suggest that this project will take off, however, the potential for growth is there. In the cryptocurrency world, we’ve seen companies recover from worse, but we’ve also seen companies do much worse. The thinking of many in the community will be that we should probably not enable Enigma to do much worse. * This being the case, there is still a lot of potential in this platform. Whitelabeling the applications is a possible way to avoid the negative name recognition in the short-term, for development teams who still want to build on Catalyst. We can foresee at least a few of these doing so, and so we feel okay giving some points back: +5. (Idea can work.) * They have some software that works. It’s very basic. It would have been preferable that they built a fully-fledged product to offer in addition, of the sort that others are expected to build down the line. We see the reason that they rushed to market as a matter of timing, so we forgive that too. +4 * Although we assert that they may not have personally been prepared to conduct the ICO phase of their project, we can say that they are motivated to achieve their milestones, and this is encouraging for a token holder. +2 ## Disposition Numerically, for the present time, **we land on a score of 4/10 for Enigma**. When the sale has begun and the market begins to speak, we can move this needle in either direction. The author welcomes feedback in this regard. Again, no change to this score will be made before the market has begun to speak on the subject. Source (https://hacked.com/ico-analysis-enigma/) > **Author: P. H. Madore (http://phm.link)** > *P. H. Often, if someone feels humbled, they will give their money over in the belief that the other party will know better what to do with it.**\n\nIn any case, Catalyst is, among other things, another play in the market information space. Our upcoming review of Red Pulse will illustrate yet another example of this type of product being launched, but here is a very succinct description of Catalyst:\n\n> **[…] A tool that makes it easier to make educated investment decisions in crypto-assets, based on a data-driven approach. Catalyst is a set of applications and the infrastructure to drive better investment strategies, hence increasing the adoption of crypto-assets.**\n\nIt is also the “first application on the Enigma protocol.” The Enigma protocol uses the ENG token. Its algorithm is the buy and hold strategy, and it it outputs the following on the host computer:\n\n\n\nWe can see how this will come in handy, for many different applications, across industries. Financial markets may be the first to embrace and adopt, but others will follow if the snowball begins rolling. It’s not hard to imagine, if the data is available and affordable, many advanced real-time data consumption applications being developed atop the protocol.\n\n> **Over-time, it is our hope that the long-tail of data-sets curated by the community would outpace our own ability to generate interesting data. Such a network effect would be highly beneficial to developers using our platform.**\n\nSo the value proposition is that great applications will have immediate access to quality, verifiable data for many purposes. Financial applications will obviously be the most growth-producing. Now let’s see what we can derive about the token itself.\n\n## ENG Token\n\nWe won’t talk about the pre-sale that is supposed to be on-going, because we do not want anyone eager to shoot themselves in the foot to go ahead and do so. It will be difficult for anyone to trust a “new presale” announcement, so any such would be a bad metric by which to measure the performance of the funding round.\n\nSo we will talk about the actual ICO token generation event, which begins on 9/11/2017 and will yield 100 million tokens, 25 million of which the Enigma firm will retain for its own purposes, another 25 million of which will be **given away**, and 50 million of which will be available for purchase.\n\nThe tokens value will be in incentivizing and paying for data on the platform. Thus, we have a three-level system here – the data market is the bottom layer, Catalyst is the second, and on Catalyst other applications depend in order to provide utility. The last part is crucial to success, and the volume of projects which crop up in that category is a good way to measure the health of the project.\n\n## Competitors In The Field Are Active & Possibly Quite Superior\n\nWe will be reviewing Red Pulse very soon, but if you have a look at their website, it’s not hard to extrapolate that they could pretty easily expand their own platform to fully encompass everything that Enigma is up to. With all due respect to the actually brilliant authors of the Enigma whitepaper and the company, Enigma might not be the best play in this field. Having your e-mail hacked is potentially forgivable, but less so when it was quite avoidable. Being MIT graduates and technically-minded individuals, **that this took place gives rise to the quiet suspicion of a pre-sale scam conducted from inside.**\n\n## The Verdict\n\nThis will be one of the longer verdicts this analyst enters, so that it is fully understood why he is concluding rather divergently from others in his field. We have to account for pessimism and its ability to take an in-progress funding round to an eventual refund round.\n\n## Risk\n\n* The team were not prepared to start this project. Off the top.\n\n* Building on the above point, it will be difficult to get developers or companies excited to work with a company that already has horrible optics in the technosphere. Without these applications, you have nothing here. -2\n\n* In the event that applications are built, they will need data. Again, the reputation is going to make this a less attractive place to collate and sell data than others. -1\n\n## Growth Potential\n\n* This analyst is cautious to suggest that this project will take off, however, the potential for growth is there. In the cryptocurrency world, we’ve seen companies recover from worse, but we’ve also seen companies do much worse. The thinking of many in the community will be that we should probably not enable Enigma to do much worse.\n\n* This being the case, there is still a lot of potential in this platform. Whitelabeling the applications is a possible way to avoid the negative name recognition in the short-term, for development teams who still want to build on Catalyst. We can foresee at least a few of these doing so, and so we feel okay giving some points back: +5. (Idea can work.)\n\n* They have some software that works. It’s very basic. It would have been preferable that they built a fully-fledged product to offer in addition, of the sort that others are expected to build down the line. We see the reason that they rushed to market as a matter of timing, so we forgive that too. +4\n\n* Although we assert that they may not have personally been prepared to conduct the ICO phase of their project, we can say that they are motivated to achieve their milestones, and this is encouraging for a token holder. +2\n\n## Disposition\n\nNumerically, for the present time, **we land on a score of 4/10 for Enigma**. When the sale has begun and the market begins to speak, we can move this needle in either direction. The author welcomes feedback in this regard. Again, no change to this score will be made before the market has begun to speak on the subject.\n\nSource (https://hacked.com/ico-analysis-enigma/)\n\n> **Author: P. H.
