There, it shattered the Porsche 918 Spyder’s long-standing record by a full second with a time of just 1:22.5. Unfortunately, a month before we tested the Performante, we tested the McLaren 720S, whose turbo torque contributed to a blistering 1:21.7 and gave it the official lap record. Still, it’s a monumental accomplishment for a Lamborghin,The second impressive figure is the figure eight, where this European-spec Lamborghini is now tied with the Porsche 918 Spyder for the quickest lap at 22.2 seconds. The Porsche pulled a slightly higher 1.06 average g to the Performante’s 1.00, though. It’s also 0.8 second quicker than a standard Huracán and quicker than contemporaries such as the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 720S.\n\nIndeed, the Performante’s lateral grip in general is staggering but not quite record-setting. On the skidpad, it ranks behind the Camaro SS 1LE, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, and the current- and previous-generation Corvette Z06 and the Dodge Viper ACR at 1.12 average lateral g.It’s a similar situation in acceleration. The Performante cuts 0.2 second off the standard Huracán, hitting 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It’s damn quick but lands in a sixth-place tie with the Audi R8 V10+ and Tesla Model S P90D. Just ahead are the McLaren 720S and Porsche 911 Turbo S at 2.5 seconds, the 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari at 2.4, and the Model S P100D Ludicrous at 2.3. The 488 GTB needs 2.7 seconds.\n\nIf you’re interested in drag racing, you’re going to do well. With a 10.4-second elapsed time at 134.5 mph, the Performante is tied with the Lamborghini Aventador SV and Bugatti Veyron 16.4, and it is fifth overall behind the LaFerrari, McLaren P1, 918 Spyder, and 720S. The 488 GTB runs a 10.6.\n\nThe Huracán Performante is top five in braking, too. Tied with the Viper GTS, 911 S, Camaro SS 1LE, 720S, last-gen Corvette Z06, and Ferrari F430 Scuderia, the Performante stops from 60 mph in 93 feet. Ahead of it are the Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport and the 911 Turbo S. The 488 GTB needs 94 feet.More interesting than the raw numbers is the way the Performante delivers them. One of the last naturally aspirated supercars, the Performante’s acceleration curve is a beautifully linear crescendo as the comparatively low torque gives way to world-class horsepower. The longer you stretch it out toward its 8,500-rpm redline, the more power it seems to make. The limiter comes on hard with zero warning, so you’ve got to keep an eye on the tach; the engine sounds like it could spin to double its limit, and the power never lets off.\n\nThere’s a certain beauty to that naturally aspirated torque. It allows you a moment to think. In turbocharged cars such as the 720S and 488 GTB, corners are coming at you so quickly that you brake and turn more by instinct than by rational thought. It’s less a feeling of the car accelerating and more as if you’ve reached out, grabbed the horizon, and pulled it to you in an instant. The Performante builds its speed in a less bewildering manner, giving your brain a split second to adjust to the rapidly blurring scenery out the windshield.\n\nIt also affords you an additional cushion of control exiting a corner. Driving any car fast is all about smooth inputs, and the need to be smooth on the throttle escalates with power. Having all that turbo torque available the moment you crack the throttle exiting a corner comes with a great responsibility to apply it judiciously, lest you end up backward in a ditch. Less torque and a comparatively gradual implantation eases the mind as you roll into the throttle leaving corners.",

It’s now more than a decade since Bentley’s Speed 8 won the Le Mans 24-hour race – an absence from international motorsport evidently considered long enough by Crewe’s top brass and parent company Volkswagen.\n\nThat’s because, after being shown in concept form in 2012, the firm’s Continental GT3 endurance racer led it back onto the track last year. Out of the box, it ended an 84-year wait for a Bentley motorsport win on British soil when the Blancpain Endurance Series visited Silverstone.\n\nIt also scooped a win in the same series at Paul Ricard, won the Pirelli World Challenge at Miller Motorsports Park in the US and successfully completed an eventful 24-hour race at Spa.\n\nYou could call that a successful maiden season. Bentley certainly would. The kit is made up of high-performance headers, metallic sports catalytic converters, a sports rear silencer, a sports air filter, an engine map optimisation and the removal of engine restrictions. As the name of the sports kit already suggests, the engine then provides around an additional 60bhp/44kW and can provide an extra 54 Nm of torque, meaning that a notably faster top speed of up to 320km/h can be reached.\n\n“Standard“ or “wide body” ?\n\nHAMANN adorns the exterior of the M5 with aerodynamic components. For example, a front spoiler, which is attached to the standard front spoiler, helps to create greater downforce. Alternatively, this can also be achieved by a new, sportier front spoiler, whose built-in ellipsoid fog lights lend the “face” of the BMW more character. The sides of the M5 are edged with subtle side sills, which make the saloon appear even more powerful. Characterised by a diffusor the HAMANN rear panel with cut-out for the HAMANN 4-pipe-rear silencer teem with sportiness.\nThe roof is crowned by a roof spoiler, which also helps to ensure that the M5 remains firmly on the road at high speeds. Further downforce is generated by the rear spoiler that is harmoniously integrated into the vehicle contours. Who prefers race car-like optics, can order the twin-rear spoiler instead. More dynamic than the standard-fitted mirrors are the sports mirrors offered by HAMANN for all left-hand drive cars, which are electrically adjustable and heated, and optionally also electrically folding. All parts, except the front apron, HAMANN offers also in carbon-kevlar.",

The 6-Series GT will be approximately 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter than the equivalent existing car and be offered with four, six and eight cylinder engines with power ranging from 190 hp to 465 hp.\n\nAlso this year, the BMW X2 will debut and initially be offered with the same small petrol and diesel engines of the X1. The next-generation X3 will also bow some time this year and be the brand’s first SUV model using its CLAR platform. This platform will also spawn the long-awaited BMW X7, set to be constructed at the brand’s Spartanburg plant in the United States.\n\nThings will continue for BMW throughout 2017 with the all-new M5 and M2 GTS to both launch in the second half of the year. We already know that the M5 will benefit from all-wheel drive and will have a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 delivering over 600 hp. The M2 GTS on the other hand will get an uprated turbo’d 3.0-liter engine lifting power to the 400 hp mark.\n\nNext year will also prove rather fruitful for BMW particularly with the launch of the Z5 sports car, currently in development with Toyota alongside the next-generation Supra. What’s more, the famed BMW 8-Series will be resurrected in 2018 and directly rival the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.
