England and New Zealand played an exciting finals match and tied twice during the game. England only became world champions because they have more boundaries than New Zealand. Other than that, the match was a complete tie.\n\nEngland only had a couple of weeks to celebrate their victory. The Ashes 2019 series kicked off on August 1. Cricket fans were excited to watch England and Australia play on the cricket field again after their World Cup semi-finals match where England won. The first Test match of the Ashes ran from August 1 to 5. Australia showed the world that they are still one of the best teams in cricket. Australia won the first Test match by 251 runs.\n\nNow, the cricket community is looking forward to the next Test match of both teams. ‘ENG vs AUS’ will continue to be the headline on international cricket news. The second Test of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ashes\">the Ashes</a> started on August 14 and will continue until August 18. It will be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London where England won the World Cup tournament only a month prior.\n\nLast August 15, Lord’s turned into a sea of red. Both teams wore red caps and used red stumps. Fans who watched the match wore red clothing as well. This movement is a form of support for the Ruth Strauss Foundation. Ruth Strauss was the wife of Andrew Strauss, England’s former team captain. Ruth Strauss passed away because of lung cancer on December 29, 2018. \n\n“The one huge opportunity you have as an ex-cricketer is to use that platform to raise awareness of what you’re trying to do,” Andrew Strauss stated. Steyn is one of the greatest fast bowlers in history. \n\nThe official Twitter account of Cricket South Africa tweeted Steyn’s statement: “Today I walk away from a format of the game I love so much. In my opinion Test cricket is the best version of this game. It tests you mentally, physically, emotionally,\n\n\"It’s terrible to consider never playing another Test again but what’s more terrifying is the thought of never playing again at all. So I will be focusing on ODIs and T20s for the rest of my career to maximise my full potential and ensure my longevity in this sport,\n\n“I’d like to thank everyone in cricket, no one specific because everyone has been a part of my journey. And I look forward to continuing to play for the Proteas in the shorter formats. \nThank you.\"\n\nTributes from fans poured in social media.
