It is easy to forgive but to forget is another level of a thing. This is a true life narrative, and don't blame me for trying not to forgive my brother though I later did. I mean, we all have a limit to everything that comes out way.\n\n>Mine was seeing my younger brother look our mother in the eye and say:\n\n>“That’s not my job to do, go and do it yourself.”\n\nShe had only asked him to help with her laundry because her back was aching and that’s all. A small favor he should be happy to rendered but he responded with cold disrespect that stunned me and such point the room went silent. I looked at my mum and surprisingly, she didn’t argue. She just turned away and quietly carried the bucket of clothes herself trying to be advocate of the peace ambassador she so much want us to be because it's one of a lifestyle she priorities most in life.\n</div>\n<br>\n<br>\n\n\n***The moment That changed something in me.***|\n|-\n\nBeing the  eldest son,  I had watched my mother raise us on her own for years: sacrificing, breaking her back and somehow still smiling. I knew she wasn’t perfect but in our house, she was sacred and that night, my younger brother shattered something I thought we both protected. And that is the respect we have for her.\n\n\n***The Fallout***|\n|-\n\nI didn’t shout at him nor did I try to fight him and what I did Instead, was  to cut him off emotionally and stopped talking to him completely.\nIf we passed each other at any corner of our house, I will just walked past and  If he greeted me, I didn’t respond. This lasted for weeks and  He acted like he didn’t care but I knew my silence was heavy. I had just returned from church and intended to used our backyard entrance to entered our house.\nFrom a distance, I saw my Mum bent over,  her wrapper soaked with soap water, scrubbing clothes alone and Her fingers were shaking from the cold.\n*And all this happened while my brother who didn't go to church service, was inside listening to music and enjoying playing PS5.*\n\n>That sight pierced me deeper than I can explain.\n\nLater in the evening, out of nowhere, my brother walked into my room and He didn’t knock. I don’t deserve your respect or hers but… I’m sorry, bro.**\n\n\n\nHe didn’t say more and honestly, he didn’t need to because His voice wasn’t arrogant nor  His face defensive. There was a quiet shame in his eyes  the kind that doesn’t come from being caught  but from realizing you truly hurt someone you love.\n\n>I let out a long breath and replied:\n>Sorry doesn’t fix it. The next morning, he was up from bed before myself. I saw him outside, helping my  Mum with house chores, not saying a word, not expecting praise. At this point,I realized he didn’t just say sorry but he started proving it.\nRegarding the silence treatment I gave to him. It took time though but slowly, the silence between us faded and we began talking again like before but in a better way that we share and understand values to our home, family and our mum especially as men who had gone through something hard and grown from it.\n</div>\n<br>\n<br>\n\n\n***Lessons Learned:***|\n|-\n\nPride makes silence feel powerful but love breaks that silence when it truly matters.\nAnd what I mean by that is this: Pride uses silence to protect the ego which I believe was a thing for my brother while love breaks silence to protect the relationship and this is why I believe he came to say sorry.\n\n>This shouldnt be a lesson to me alone and to you reading this, let this be a reminder to you, that real love chooses connection over ego especially in critical moments.\n\n*Saying “sorry” doesn’t erase pain but it shows the willingness to rebuild what’s been broken and sometimes, it takes losing a relationship to realize how much it meant in the first place*.\n\n\n\n***What Could I Have Done to Avoid That Situation?***|\n|-\n\nHonestly, I could have called him aside that night instead of going completely silent and just maybe he needed correction more than isolation. Maybe I could have helped him grow faster by confronting him directly rather than shutting down.\nBut to some extend, i think we both needed the space to learn.\nAnd when he finally said sorry, it didn’t just save the day…\nIt saved our bond and a reminder to who we are both indebted to... It is easy to forgive but to forget is another level of a thing. This is a true life narrative, and don't blame me for trying not to forgive my brother though I later did. I mean, we all have a limit to everything that comes out way.\n\n>Mine was seeing my younger brother look our mother in the eye and say:\n\n>“That’s not my job to do, go and do it yourself.”\n\nShe had only asked him to help with her laundry because her back was aching and that’s all. A small favor he should be happy to rendered but he responded with cold disrespect that stunned me and such point the room went silent. I looked at my mum and surprisingly, she didn’t argue. She just turned away and quietly carried the bucket of clothes herself trying to be advocate of the peace ambassador she so much want us to be because it's one of a lifestyle she priorities most in life.\n</div>\n<br>\n<br>\n\n\n***The moment That changed something in me.***|\n|-\n\nBeing the  eldest son,  I had watched my mother raise us on her own for years: sacrificing, breaking her back and somehow still smiling. I knew she wasn’t perfect but in our house, she was sacred and that night, my younger brother shattered something I thought we both protected. And that is the respect we have for her.\n\n\n***The Fallout***|\n|-\n\nI didn’t shout at him nor did I try to fight him and what I did Instead, was  to cut him off emotionally and stopped talking to him completely.\nIf we passed each other at any corner of our house, I will just walked past and  If he greeted me, I didn’t respond. This lasted for weeks and  He acted like he didn’t care but I knew my silence was heavy. I had just returned from church and intended to used our backyard entrance to entered our house.\nFrom a distance, I saw my Mum bent over,  her wrapper soaked with soap water, scrubbing clothes alone and Her fingers were shaking from the cold.\n*And all this happened while my brother who didn't go to church service, was inside listening to music and enjoying playing PS5.*\n\n>That sight pierced me deeper than I can explain.\n\nLater in the evening, out of nowhere, my brother walked into my room and He didn’t knock. I don’t deserve your respect or hers but… I’m sorry, bro.**\n\n\n\nHe didn’t say more and honestly, he didn’t need to because His voice wasn’t arrogant nor  His face defensive. There was a quiet shame in his eyes  the kind that doesn’t come from being caught  but from realizing you truly hurt someone you love.\n\n>I let out a long breath and replied:\n>Sorry doesn’t fix it. The next morning, he was up from bed before myself. I saw him outside, helping my  Mum with house chores, not saying a word, not expecting praise. At this point,I realized he didn’t just say sorry but he started proving it.\nRegarding the silence treatment I gave to him. It took time though but slowly, the silence between us faded and we began talking again like before but in a better way that we share and understand values to our home, family and our mum especially as men who had gone through something hard and grown from it.\n</div>\n<br>\n<br>\n\n\n***Lessons Learned:***|\n|-\n\nPride makes silence feel powerful but love breaks that silence when it truly matters.\nAnd what I mean by that is this: Pride uses silence to protect the ego which I believe was a thing for my brother while love breaks silence to protect the relationship and this is why I believe he came to say sorry.\n\n>This shouldnt be a lesson to me alone and to you reading this, let this be a reminder to you, that real love chooses connection over ego especially in critical moments.\n\n*Saying “sorry” doesn’t erase pain but it shows the willingness to rebuild what’s been broken and sometimes, it takes losing a relationship to realize how much it meant in the first place*.\n\n\n\n***What Could I Have Done to Avoid That Situation?***|\n|-\n\nHonestly, I could have called him aside that night instead of going completely silent and just maybe he needed correction more than isolation. Maybe I could have helped him grow faster by confronting him directly rather than shutting down.\nBut to some extend, i think we both needed the space to learn.\nAnd when he finally said sorry, it didn’t just save the day…\nIt saved our bond and a reminder to who we are both indebted to... For example, if I have to write a report or wash my clothes,  I try to start with that first thing in the morning just  right after I wake up because that’s when my mind is still fresh and not yet scattered with other distractions like seeing movie and having fun with friends at the expense of doing my major task.\n\nThis rule has helped me avoid that guilty feeling that comes when the day ends and I haven’t achieved anything meaningful and  It gives me a small win early in the day which motivates me to stay productive throughout the day but my very self been human, It doesn’t always go perfectly but I’ve noticed a big difference on the days I apply this rule versus when I don’t.\n\n\n\n\n***When do you feel like you waste the most time? Why?***|\n|-\n\nTo be frank,  I waste the most time when I’m on my phone late at night, that is, after I'm done for the day and retire to bed and next I would do is telling myself,  I just want to check a few messages or scroll for 10 minutes but next thing I know, it’s been over an hour. I think the main reason is that by the end of the day, I feel tired and just want to relax but instead of sleeping or doing something more restful, I fall into that trap of mindless scrolling social media and seeing movies. \n\nAll that sum up to affects my sleep and also messes up the next morning because I end up waking up tired and sometimes even late and I’ve tried to cut it down by keeping my phone away from my bed and using a book to wind down instead. It’s not easy but I’m working on it because I know how much time I lose that way.\n\n\n\n***Do you have any effective time management tools or apps that you use?***|\n|-\n\nAfter all the time I thought to mismanaged, I had to come up with time management tool, though helpful for somedays while other days, I just have to be human and do has I wish. First off, I use *Google Calendar* and a simple *to-do list app called TickTick.* The role this two tools help me with is: *Google Calendar helps me plan out my week so I can see when I have free time and when I’m busy*  I give color to code my  tasks,  blue for personal, red for deadlines, green for appointments. so it's easy to glance at.\n\nTickTick is where I dump all the little tasks I need to do every day because It has reminders, so I don’t forget important stuff which I might consider less important and what I like about it, is that it’s not complicated and it feels like a paper list but smarter. These two tools keep me organized, especially when I’m juggling schoolwork and other responsibilities.\n\n\n\n\n***What is your most effective strategy for balancing study/work and personal life?***|\n|-\n\nFor me, the best strategy is time blocking and I will tell you what I do with that.  I divide my day into chunks of time and assign each block to a specific type of task like studying, chores or rest. For example, I might study from 10 AM to 12 PM, take a one-hour break then work on something else later in the afternoon.\n\nWhat makes this work is that I also include breaks and personal time in my plan time to watch a show, talk to a friend or even take a walk and it helps me avoid to be  burnout and makes me feel like I still have a life outside school. I don’t always follow it perfectly, but when I do, I feel more balanced and in control of my day.\n\n\n\n***What changes do you want to make in time management in the next 1 month?***|\n|-\n\nAbout that, one good  big change I want to make is to wake up one hour earlier every day because I’ve noticed that the days I wake up early are more productive and I feel calmer throughout the day but lately, I’ve been sleeping late and waking up just in time for the next activity, which makes me feel rushed.\n\nSo, my plan is to start sleeping earlier, maybe by 10:30 PM, and setting my alarm for 4 AM. I’ll use that early morning time to plan my day or do a short workout or just sit quietly with no noise.
