titleToyota Hybrids, Or: How I Learned to Stop Whining and Love the Prius
bodyWhile every other manufacturer has been running about like headless chickens, throwing billions at electric cars that cost more than a small Caribbean island and have the range of my nan's scooter, Toyota has been quietly perfecting something that actually works. In the real world. Where real people live. Not in Elon Musk's fever dreams. ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcFuiaFT5Mn7f5ZgMHqUjqXBoVxQVs6rcgtvgmvAQ858b/image.png) The Uncomfortable Numbers Let me hit you with some facts that make me want to wash my mouth out with gasoline. Since 1997, Toyota has sold over 20 million hybrid vehicles globally. That's more than the population of Romania, all driving about in cars that sip fuel like a priest sips communion wine. Meanwhile, their hybrid Synergy Drive system has saved approximately 160 million tons of CO2. That's the equivalent of taking every car in Britain off the road for three years. But here's the truly impressive part - they actually work. A taxi driver in Vienna recently clocked over 1 million kilometers in his Prius. One. Million. Kilometers. That's like driving to the moon and back, then doing it again just for laughs. The original battery was still working at 85% capacity. Meanwhile, the Tesla runs out of charge if you so much as think about using the heated seats. Seemingly Boring Brilliance Toyota's hybrid system is so monumentally boring, it's actually genius. There's no need to find a charging point in the middle of nowhere, standing in the rain while your car drinks electricity slower than a student nurse on her first night out. You just put gasoline in it, like a normal person, and off you go. The RAV4 Hybrid manages 41 mpg in real-world driving. That's better fuel economy than most diesels, without sounding like a tractor with bronchitis or poisoning small children with particulates. They do move quick too, they move quicker than their gas-only counterparts. And the Camry Hybrid? In America, police departments are switching to them because they're saving $4,000 per car per year in fuel costs. The NYPD has over 2,000 Toyota hybrids in their fleet. When New York cops - who deal with enough stress without worrying about finding charging stations during a high-speed pursuit - choose Toyota hybrids, you know something's working. The Le Mans Humiliation But here's what really grinds my gears. Toyota took their hybrid technology to Le Mans, that cathedral of speed where real racing happens, and they've won it five times in a row with their hybrid TS050 and GR010. They beat Porsche. They beat Audi. They beat everyone while partially running on electricity like some sort of automotive Duracell bunny. The same technology that powers Uber drivers in cities around the world is winning the most grueling race on Earth. It's like discovering your accountant is secretly Batman. ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmW3DLpQzaTkBtpooX9NCFr3BK6Xm4NZhEAyDGvJ7YjW2D/image.png) The German Panic You know Toyota's onto something when the Germans start panicking. BMW, Mercedes, and Volkswagen have collectively spent more money on electric vehicle development than the GDP of several small nations, yet Toyota outsells all of their electric efforts with boring, reliable hybrids that just work. In 2023, while Ford lost $4.5 billion on EVs and GM's electric dreams turned into nightmares, Toyota quietly made profits selling hybrids to people who just want to get to work without having a nervous breakdown about battery range or spending 45 minutes at a charging station reading a book about mindfulness. The Terrible Truth Look, I wanted to hate this. I wanted to tell you that Toyota's hybrids are for people who iron their underpants and get excited about new types of dental floss. But the truth is, they've solved the problem everyone else is still trying to figure out. They've made cars that are economical, reliable, and don't require you to restructure your entire life around charging schedules. And that is why Toyota has the best hybrid technology in the world. They didn't try to reinvent the wheel. They just made it a bit better, a bit more efficient, and a lot more sensible. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go drive something with a V12 to cleanse my palate. This honesty is giving me indigestion.

titleThe Silent Assassin: How Toyota’s Unbreakable Hybrids Are Leading Their Takeover Of The Electric Vehicle Industry
bodyIf you’ve been anywhere near a motorway, in a taxi, or frankly a primary school drop‑off zone in the last decade, you’ll know one thing: Toyota hybrids are everywhere and are indestructible. The Prius may not be the car you dream about, unless your dreams involve high‑visibility vests and gasoline efficiency, but it is the one you buy when you want to stop worrying about silly things like “will it start on a rainy Tuesday?” Press enter or click to view image in full size Toyota’s hybrid batteries are becoming a thing of legend because of their long lifetimes and will be the key to Toyota’s EV market success And you see, that is Toyota’s secret superpower. Reliability. They don’t shout about it. They don’t harp on about torque figures that could pull down a cathedral or zero to sixty times measured in milliseconds. Instead, they quietly make hybrids that just… work. Fluorescent Ubers, Camry taxis clocking up more miles than a Philly drug dealer, RAV4s cheerfully lugging kids, dogs and shopping without stranding the family on the side of the road. Now, contrast that with the world of today’s electric car startups. Flashy screens, ridiculous acceleration, and panel gaps large enough to be seen from space. Yes, EVs are clever. But many are fragile clever, like a laptop powered by enthusiasm. They suffer teething problems, software glitches, and the occasional moment where they just decide not to charge. This has a lot to do with the fact that these companies don’t have long histories in the car industry. For the average commuter, that is terrifying. Toyota, meanwhile, has been perfecting the fine art of batteries and motors since before half these startups existed. Two decades of experience watching teenagers in baseball caps abuse the Prius in minicab service has given Toyota data no one else has. They know what fails, when it fails, and how to stop it failing in the first place. Which means that when Toyota finally decides to unleash an electric army, the thing will almost certainly be bulletproof. And that, I suspect, is why they will take over the electric vehicle market. People don’t want their family car to be a social experiment or a science project. They want it to start, to go, and to need nothing more complicated than the occasional sandwich wrapper cleared out of the footwell. Toyota specializes in that level of beautiful certainty and it seems Tesla wants to work backwards TOWARDS reliability instead of starting there. And the jewel in their reliability crown? The battery. Most people assume car batteries are just fragile lumps of lithium waiting to bankrupt you at 80,000 miles. But Toyota’s packs have routinely smashed that perception to pieces. Prius taxis the world over have sailed smugly to 300,000 miles and beyond, many still using their original batteries. There are documented cases of fleets nearing half a million miles without so much as a hiccup in the electrics. And Toyota doesn’t just rely on word of mouth — in the U.S., they back their hybrid batteries with warranties of 8 years or 100,000 miles, and more recently even 10 years or 150,000 miles. That sort of guarantee isn’t marketing fluff. It’s a company confidently saying: “Relax. We know it’s not going to fail.” Tesla may have revolutionized the electric car world with its blistering acceleration and headline-grabbing tech, but reliability has always been a mixed bag for the Silicon Valley sensation. According to the 2025 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, Tesla ranks well below Toyota, reporting around 252 problems per 100 vehicles after three years, compared to Toyota’s much lower 162 problems per 100 vehicles. Consumer Reports echoes this, scoring the Toyota Prius at an impressive 8.9 out of 10 for reliability, while the Tesla Model 3 manages only 7.2 out of 10. Tesla’s build quality issues, frequent recalls, and software glitches have left many owners frustrated, often treating their cars like high-maintenance tech gadgets rather than dependable vehicles. In contrast, Toyota’s decades of experience have resulted in hybrids — and increasingly their EVs — that simply get the job done without fuss. When reliability counts, Toyota’s “just works” philosophy means fewer breakdowns, less frequent costly repairs, and peace of mind that Tesla’s flashy appeal can’t quite match. So yes, Porsche can make EVs that lap the Nürburgring like a cheetah with a flight suit, and Tesla can keep people entertained with glowing dashboards and ludacris fart modes. But when your average driver, the normal person who just wants reliable transport, looks into an EV, they’ll eventually find themselves walking into a Toyota dealership. And it’ll be because they know — deep down in their bones — that Toyota doesn’t build cars for the here and now. They build them for forever. visit toyotatom.com to get consultation on car purchases and ownership in the greater Philadelphia area

titleEl Salvador's Problems Come From Imperialism, Not Inflation.
bodyEl Salvador's right wing #military regime in the 80's was backed by the United States and had death squads that killed 65,000 civilians, including: priests, nuns, church workers, union #leaders, #students, and peasants. They did this while fighting leftist guerrilla forces. This is one example of the many times the United States tries to destabilize countries for exploitation. titleThere Is A Museum Worth Of Evidence For America Treating Cuba Like It Owns Them; Here Is One Example.
bodyIn January of 1960, the United States conducted dozens of bombing raids on sugar factories and stockpiles in Cuba in a long-standing attempt to weaken them so they could take them over economically via a favorable government. The US denied it until a plane crashed that February and the body of the pilot, Robert Ellis Frost was found with a map of the previously alleged bombings. The United States has been trying to take over Cuba since the early 19th century and it still continues to this day. body2019 #data shows roughly 80 million households cant afford the current average house price in 2020-2021 America. THATS 2/3 OF HOUSEHOLDS !!!! Not #people.. whole households of income.... that's disgusting. Also take into consideration 2020 median HOUSEHOLD income was $67,521 , 2.9% lower than 2019. The insolvency cliff is coming. titleWestern Media Is Literally A Corporate Mouthpiece, Don't Listen To Them About China's Strategy For Crypto.
body5 years ago: China is behind Bitcoin and they are trying to take over the whole world via crypto space. Now: China is trying to stop the revolution and destroy crypto and take over the world. Crypto is the only thing in their way. It’s weird how that shift in rhetoric happened at the same time that western wealth concentrations started getting into the crypto space. Smh. It seems like you guys are just switching back and forth from different corporate media propaganda narratives because of western politics controlled by wealth concentrations. titleCritics of Bitcoin Using Too Much Energy Just Don't Understand How Wasteful The Legacy Finance System Is
bodyWe hear this argument from conservatives, liberals and even communists alike: “#Bitcoin uses 2 much #energy.”🥴 What about the legacy #finance system it plans to replace?: server farms, #security, bank vaults, cameras, lights, heating, cooling, transport, uniforms, water, paper, endless disposable pens, construction.. we could do this all day. Quantify that. Anyone have anything to add to the list? I do I just don’t want to get monotonous ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbQK7qtrGCYeCtkpxxmRRgXtN3gQuUB8TNSF6tWhLFPVZ/image.png)

titleDrug Tests Are Being Slowly Abandoned In Part Because Of The So-Called 'Labor Shortage'
bodyAccording to ManpowerGroup, the largest staffing agency in the world 9% of employers are removing drug screenings for prospective employees to eliminate hurdles to filling their understaffed positions. 69% of Employers are saying they are having difficulty filling open positions. Amazon said in June it is no longer requiring a cannabis screening for jobs that do not require it by the Department of Transportation. Amazon said screening for cannabis decreases their prospective worker pools by 30%! The drug war is a scam and we shouldn't give corporations credit for this because its all based on profit and not any type of ethics or morality, but we can be happy its happening. ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmZiof2byGHioydLEGcE2RiHf7fgAZ2M5eudymxRkspfha/image.png)

titleClark Clifford Was One Of Many Criminals Tied To The CIA And Wall Street
bodyLet’s talk about this pos by the name of Clark Clifford. I’ll just list some of his accolades and you can come to your own conclusions. 😇 He wrote the #NationalSecurity Act of 1947 which started the Department of Defense, Central #Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council. He was secretary of defense and also an advisor for President Truman and many others, a Wall Street #lawyer and a banker. In the 80’s he was chairman of First American Bancshares which is an American unit of #Bank of Credit and #Commerce International which was a CIA drug bank founded by a Pakistani national. Pakistan is a major trafficking and production area for drugs specifically the intelligence communities to fund and supplement their special side projects. He was held on retainer as council by a former CIA director when he lied to congress in the 70’s. Eventually indicted for helping BCCI do #business in America while laundering drug #money to fund Afghan rebels. This is just one example of the CIA and Wall Street being very closely intertwined. ![1634009366348.jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVenNmcSDspCNmevbs9GJ7tJavtjxo1oGbZr5k5sC36NX/1634009366348.jfif)

titleCrytpocurrency Is Very Socialist And People Don't Know Only Because They Don't Actually Know What Socialism Is
bodyBitcoin replaces a third party that gets wealthy from controlling the means of production of $, with a decentralized p2p system everyone contributes to and gets paid exactly for what they do instead of what an owner decides you should. We all as a COMMUNITY uphold the system, benefit from it and adjust it accordingly with democratic consensus.. all of these ideals are very socialist. ![download (5).jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmc6aEt4aweRu5Dacueoiwd8Xi8qNT7rTAPrveXBvpuNA3/download%20(5).jfif) Socialism is the workers and by extension the community as a whole, owning and controlling the means of production and benefitting accordingly. This sounds exactly like cryptocurrency. The only reason the state has been used in the past to enforce these ideals is because socialists a long time ago realized private wealth and the governments they control have too much power and military force in the so-called “free market” that a powerful centralized state was necessary to protect the country from these wealth concentrations and the war machines at their whim. This makes it harder to keep democracy not just because of the centralized power but the pressure from outside wealth trying to exploit it and the way the state reacts to such situations. “Decentralization” has been used in socialist writings for a very long time. “Capital” is literally concentrated wealth. 🤯

This sounds exactly like cryptocurrency.\n\nThe only reason the state has been used in the past to enforce these ideals is because socialists a long time ago realized private wealth and the governments they control have too much power and military force in the so-called “free market” that a powerful centralized state was necessary to protect the country from these wealth concentrations and the war machines at their whim. This makes it harder to keep democracy not just because of the centralized power but the pressure from outside wealth trying to exploit it and the way the state reacts to such situations.\n\n“Decentralization” has been used in socialist writings for a very long time.\n“Capital” is literally concentrated wealth.\n\n🤯",

titleCan We Replace Our Global Oligarchy With Smart Contracts?
bodyA few thousand #people have concentrated so much wealth that they now effectively own and/or control the planet through wealth they've gained from owning centralized authorities with bribes and war. Often, these bribes are called campaign contributions I think the majority of government and #corporations can be replaced with code to make sure workers have at least more control over their workplace so that then eventually workers will get all or majority of the value of their labor instead of a small few who claim to own and manage the means of production, yet don't actually labor over the products. ![download (4).jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTPETBXwPavuT6rBtQBue8oSCWofjzE3615LxRXbb3ePU/download%20(4).jfif) These #management systems have bottlenecks that are controlled by a centralized authority but could be decentralized and replaced with #smartcontracts. This would put the control directly into the hands of workers and customers/clients etc., remove administrative redundancy and "fat," all while being more secure. This is a no-brainer. Of course, we will not be able to achieve this easily because politicians that are owned by our oligarchs, plutocrats.. however you describe them, will not surrender that #power and dissolve their own control.

bodyWe should create national incentive programs to decrease high population areas. Population density is the source and multiplying factor for many problems. Running away from societal problems isn’t the solution but it does allow time and room to regroup and streamline solutions while easing tensions between people who are piled up on top of each other, quite literally in many places. ![image.png](https://images.hive.blog/DQmceRfaep49FjfUYeF3UpxETPJmXKa83McQm2ZVELjszWL/image.png) The majority of the United States is empty and it just needs #infrastructure. titleThe Cuban People Are Survivors And Their Revolution Should Be Studied By Every Person On The Planet
bodyBefore the revolution, Cuba was in shambles, mostly because of the United States and Cuba’s history of being exploited by capitalist controlled governments. Here’s a list of some of what US companies owned in Cuba after WW2: 40% of the #farms 55% of the mills 90% of #communications and #electrical services 50% of railroads and simple majorities in many other industries. This is a common situation all throughout #LatinAmerica. Mass inequality and #poverty existed in Cuba before the revolution. Cubans who lived in rural areas were very poor: 98% didn’t eat eggs 90% used kerosene lamps for lighting 90% of them didn’t have milk 44% never went to a school, ever 1,000 calories below regular diet ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYwchHMYUyhAtGbY1n1c5xGenqvMBnbmY51GXc5xWodzY/image.png) Now Cuba has a higher literacy rate than the United States and a better infant mortality rate, as well as many other stats, despite the draconian blockade on their economy.

titleSocialism Is A Workers Movement
bodySocialism was literally created within the failures of capitalism after the French revolution and then all over the world. It is a workers movement. Capitalism is an extension of feudalism. We literally still use the term landlords. Workers get the majority of the value of their labor stolen from them and extracted into the pockets of people who do not work for a living. Even Adam Smith had complaints about capitalism and he would be horrified to see what the inevitable result of it is: Plutocracy Society is falling apart because the environment is being completely destroyed and the majority of the humans are living in squalor in order to keep profits high. Latin American countries Have been repeatedly destroyed by capitalism exploiting the poor to extract resources and the value of the labor they provide. The philosophical theory behind Capitalism is gatekeeping concentrations of wealth and growing them further. It facilitates and encourages concentration of wealth and therefore power. Socialism is literally putting the means of production into the hands of the people who actually produce and not those who have their name attached to a bunch of pieces of property and bank accounts. ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXzFcJuCMKy2k7pU9YH7jH8UAqxRPxKcULjabsppjMzrx/image.png)

"body": "Socialism was literally created within the failures of capitalism after the French revolution and then all over the world. It is a workers movement. Capitalism is an extension of feudalism. We literally still use the term landlords. Workers get the majority of the value of their labor stolen from them and extracted into the pockets of people who do not work for a living. Even Adam Smith had complaints about capitalism and he would be horrified to see what the inevitable result of it is: Plutocracy\n\nSociety is falling apart because the environment is being completely destroyed and the majority of the humans are living in squalor in order to keep profits high. Latin American countries Have been repeatedly destroyed by capitalism exploiting the poor to extract resources and the value of the labor they provide.\n\nThe philosophical theory behind Capitalism is gatekeeping concentrations of wealth and growing them further. It facilitates and encourages concentration of wealth and therefore power.\n\nSocialism is literally putting the means of production into the hands of the people who actually produce and not those who have their name attached to a bunch of pieces of property and bank accounts.\n\n\n![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXzFcJuCMKy2k7pU9YH7jH8UAqxRPxKcULjabsppjMzrx/image.png)",

body#Smartcontracts will replace #government. One day you will get an alert on your phone that asks which policy you prefer to be implemented instead of a reminder to vote for someone who WILL be bought by private #wealth concentrations. Our priority should be to be aware of this possibility and never deviate from trying to achieve a protocol for government on a #blockchain. #Cryptocurrency #technology is the greatest populist tool ever created. titleEl Salvador Needs Freedom From American Wealth Concentrations (we all do)
body![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcrXJiVQqG7HdFSgwb8FgLgYcgqBoE4PbdJvegu3BvE29/image.png) El Salvador, March 1981: An elite unit called the Atlacatl Battalion murdered 6 Jesuit priests and many others. Trained and equipped by 15 specialists in counterinsurgency from the US Army School of Special Forces. The battalion engaged in mass murder from its inception. One trainer said "particularly ferocious….We’ve always had a hard time getting them to take prisoners instead of ears." December 1981, the Battalion took part in an operation in which over a thousand civilians were killed, this is one example of what has been referred to by the state department as “maintaining our backyard” or “mowing the lawn.” ![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTiqu538HB6F4kLWqMRFhwv8iWrLGnpkT4nqH7HEdyNrJ/image.png) This is all a response from a government, that is owned by various wealth concentrations, to rising socialist movements from workers educating themselves with help from their church communities. Socialism gets assaulted everywhere it is tried in varying ways but Latin America is a more savage and documented example. Bitcoin is a strong step in the right direction of freeing Latin America from the grip of legacy finance wealth concentrations created by capitalism’s inherent flaws. Decentralize all the things.
